Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - OUT NOW - Trophy Patch Released!

I'm playing through for the first time and I'm loving it! I'm on Chapter 12 now so I guess I'm about 1/2 way done. I haven't really been going for the trophies but I've racked up a few of them. Is there a way to check my progress online (like you can with achievements)?
Is there a way to check my progress online (like you can with achievements)?
No, there isn't a way to check trophies online... yet.

Is anybody else having a problem with trophies not being rewarded? I'm playing through the game again, but it didn't give me a trophy for finding 30 treasures, 35 treasures or taking out 20 guys with a brutal combo. It would suck if I have to go through it again to find the treasures just because of this, so I probably won't.

I'm getting trophies just fine.. I got the ones for finding 5 and 10 treasures and the ones for getting 10 and 100 heatshots.

I was getting them fine up until I suppose a couple of days ago. Notice it last night. Oh well I don't play for the trophies, but hopefully it was only a glitch and I'll start getting them again.
Crushing keeps kicking my ass

I keep getting killed by one rifle burst or two shots from a pistol, I've been able to slowly hack through the game, but man, it makes some of the little annoyances of this game really stand out, since they end up getting me killed :/
How interesting. You rock at Resistance 2, but get felled in Uncharted. ;)

There's definitely a pattern/approach you need to approach when going through the big battles. Playing through Valkyria Chronicles and developing said mindset really helped me get through Crushed without too much difficulty. Playing the game two times before on Normal and Hard helped, too.

Good luck!

I beat hard over the weekend... It's not that bad, but CRUSHING, i actually died once on Ambushed  Okay, i was testing the level really. I mean i just beat Hard and want to know how difficult is Crushing...

I found another glitch in the game. The yard fight before you heading into the library to rescue Sully for the first time (you know, the part you found out why he didn't die from the gunshot after the U-boat scene). So, as you enter the fight, pick up the sniper rifle and kill the sniper around 12-1 o'clock, then run toward the building on your right, go up the stairs, continue running straight. There should be a bad dude hiding there, take him out, once you're at the end, you can turning right... After turning right, you're pretty at a dead end and pretty much no covers! Well, "try" to enter the black wall and viola, you're in the library already... I don't think you have to kill the sniper at all, but it's easier to run that way.

Well I ran into some firefights where I kept dying, if not in one second then it's either getting blocked by emily or cover problems, for example: I run to cover but he backs up against the wall where he's still vulnerable, not the other side I wanted him to go to, or he rolls but never sticks to the wall and gets shot up.

My other problem was I was trying to speed through the game and get the platinum ASAP, so I was impatient. I wanted to finish it and return it within the 7 days GS will allow, but I was able to accomplish it within three days ;)
You're out of control, Shini. :nottalking:
NO! :twoguns:

I played the game when it first came out, so I enjoyed it then, I got it again solely for dem trufies ;)

Crushing mode is annoying now... I was able to pop pop pop the bad dude, but the dude just won't die and when he shots, two shots, Nate is dead. Come on, the dude just ate a full mag and still standing. Patience is the key. The aggressive ones, you'll need to wait for them, pluck them out with punches, no problems there (they run into you anyway, you can't hide forever). I hated it when the enemy out flank you, damn, you just can't cover both ends!

Headshots are the key... ;)

Heh heh heh, serpentor is feelin' the pain too ;)

Some things that I also did to "speed things up", conserve M79 ammo for groups of enemies or ones that pop up in spots you don't expect, when you're low on ammo for a gun, swap it with another gun then pick up another of the previous weapon you had for more ammo, just make sure to leave a bullet in your previous gun so you can go back and pick it up for extra ammo as well.

Ex: Colt (1 bullet) - pick up AK - pick up another Colt (29-34 bullet range) - picked up previously dropped colt for AK to get extra ammo.

I did that a number of times, made things a lot easier, ended up using 15 dragon sniper shots when you go back into the church with Sully/first entering the area with the Church and Library with Elena, made everything so much easier. Headshots are key though, especially with shotgun/Wes/DEagle/Laser tracking foos, you save a lot of bullets and time that way.

Definitely feeling the pain... i actually gave up last night. The weapon strategy is new, nice, i'll keep that in mind. Yeah, the last snipers duel was harsh (inside the church before heading down to the treasure). With 15 sniper bullets, yeah, definitely easier.

I'm keeping this game. It seems that the more i play, the more i like this game. It's definitely not a perfect game, but it grows on you. The Crushing mode is there not just to torture you, but also let you discover "clever" ways to kill the enemies.

e.g. when you were given grenades for the first time (on a crate), you can hang on the broken wall and drop one in between the two dudes hiding behind the cover. Boom, two flying bodies, very satisfying! Of course, once you pop open the gate, three aggressors... Sadly, that's where i'm stuck on right now... The last three enemies in that area (before you need to climb up and jump over the metal gate). Of the three, one is an aggressor, the other two try to outflank you.

I beat that section by *not* opening the door, and just jumping back behind the wall. =)

its much easier to do it that way. but it is 3 or 4 waves of enemies, and you have to keep running out and reminding them you exist, and then running back behind the wall.

^^___ Interesting... i didn't know you can climb out the hole in the wall from the other side, or can you? I will give it a try anyhow, thanks.

Actually, running out of a "room" after triggering the wave of enemy is not easy in Crushing mode, they shoot right away... The "water room" glitch is definitely very helpful. I believe there's an "escape" mode in every fight, i.e. easier way to deal with the thugs.
What chapter is that? I can't remember where you're at :/
Very early... beginning of chapter 4, which i read, is the most annoying chapter for Crushing mode for most people (except the infamous "water room" in chapter 5).

Speaking of the "water room," now i understand what people were complaining about "there's always one dude with the damn shotgun appear out of nowhere..." I so hate the chubby dude with the shotgun :bomb:

I just got to Chapter 15 last night. I LOVE this game. It isn't perfect but everything comes together so nicely. I'm hoping the sequel has less enemies and more climbing/exploration. Actually, I hope the sequel allows you to take out enemies in a number of different ways (set traps, drop objects on them, fool them into changing location, etc.). Nate is like a mass murderer. It would be more "believable" if he only had to kill a few people along the way.

I've been only really getting the headshot trophies and the treasure trophies (I have 39 right now). I stick to the handgun and machine gun almost exclusively. When I play again I'll have to try the shotgun and those little uzis. I also haven't punched anyone in ages - why do they even bother with the combos? Whenever I get close to someone he just shoots me in the face!

^^ the aggressors, it's easier to punch them out than shoot them up. You're not playing Crushing mode i assume? Basically there are three types of enemy attacking formation. First one being the aggressors, those dudes charge at you or sneak behind you, they don't take cover much. The second type being taking position and cover, which is a problem when you're outflanked (need to worry front and back). The last type being conservative, they don't move much, just keep shooting with infinite ammo.

I'll get Uncharted 2 day one, no doubt (i don't even care for ratings).
I know you haven't finished the game if you're talking about it being unbelievable because of the number of enemies you've killed.
Uh-oh. I don't want to know but I think I've got to be getting close to the end and everything seems OK so far! :D

You really start to use melee combat on crushing, it's a lot more effective and if you can do brutal combos that will help you out as well.

It depends on your play style.
Outside of getting the trophies, I think I only did hand to hand less than 10 times in both playthroughs.

I actually did it quite a bit, I even did it on a couple M79 wielding baddies. I just have to time rushing them so I don't get blasted :p

When I did the steel fist expert trophy, I realized the effectiveness of shooting a shot from the hip while rushing, and then timing the punch, it helped me a bunch, I've even been able to "sneak attack" dudes who already spotted me.

I hate to bump an old thread, but I just beat the game on Hard and got all the achievements but Crushing mode. Any tips before I start playing through? There were a few levels on hard that pissed me the fuck off and I'm not really looking forward to playing them on crushing.

Actually, thanks for bumping the thread. I'm on chapter 6 right now and I have yet to do more than 2 brutal combos. I don't know how to fucking register the second hit after the first one. Any suggestions?

Square - Triangle - *wait a second* - Square. The key is you run up to the enemy, hit square when you're close enough, then hit triangle immediate after your first punch connects. Wait a second after hitting triangle to let your second punch register, then immediately hit square.

EDIT: If it helps, when I first tried the brutal combo, I would just hit square triangle square and the last punch would never work. Did this a lot until I realized I had to let the triangle punch register first and THEN hit square.

Yeah, don't perform the combo all at once. Wait for your hits to land first.

For Crushing... Playing hard hopefully taught you a lot of good techniques/hiding spots. The only tip I have isn't too useful since it's pretty much common sense. Play smart. Take your time. Don't let yourself take too much damage since some enemy shots are CHEAP! Was one of the hard levels the one in the huge semi-flooded room where enemies keep jumping down and there were maybe 2 guys on an upper level platform (probably not a good description)? I youtube'd this level since I knew it'd take forever. Overall though, Crushing isn't too bad. Took me about 7.5 hours. Good luck!

Playing on Hard took me about 8.5 hours, but I also used a guide to go through and get all of the treasures so I'm thinking that added on about an hour or so. Now that I know what to do/where to go I think 7 hours is entirely possible for Crushing. I saw a little...cheat(?) for a chapter towards the end, the library one;

go to the right and just keep rolling to avoid the laser-scoped snipers. Keep rolling, avoiding fire and you will make it up the stairs to the right and can completely skip the fight in the courtyard :D

Was hoping there were a few more situations where I could do what I mentioned in the spoiler.

I gotta finish this game before the sequel releases. Anyone know how much I have left? I just got into the room where
mutants start crawling out of the floors and attack me and some other guy
. Lost interest in the game after that, so hopefully the sequel doesn't stray into that territory too much.

If that was
chapter 1, then you are about 4 chapters away from finishing the game.
Am I the only one who didn't mind the surprise/twist?
I still haven't made up my mind about this.

The surprise/twist was...'meh'. I assumed something like that was going to happen, and I wasn't turned off by it, but it felt a little out of place compared to the rest of the story. That said, I'm playing through on Crushing and I'm getting my ass kicked. I'm on Chapter 4, and it's sinking in that I MUST use cover wisely without actually going into cover. I'm not sure about my 7 hour completion prediction earlier :p

well, at least you can play your copy. i probably wrote about my frustrations in many places on cag. i havent played it in months. i picked up it again after firmware 3.01 (the one that was supposed to fix the freezing problems from 3.00). well i able to play for an hour and the game froze at ch16. now i can't even load the file. the screen goes black and the busy icon (coin spinning) never stops ... more than 20mins of nothing.

so im stuck on ch16/17 on crushing. so close to platinum, yet so far. =(

people have suggested that i can download a save and use it. but i thought the uncharted saves were locked. otherwise you could just download the trophies. ive been too busy to try it.

you need to master shoot from hip + melee skill for uncharted 2 multi. so might as well learn now.

Have you tried Going to chapter select and starting on Chapter 16? So long as the file is there, it may just be an issue with the disc?

well its either bump this or start a new thread for 1 question.

the days of me grinding out games for 60 hours are behind me. i have some goozex points waiting to be spent... how long does it take to beat the game would people say?

Giving this a healthy bump for anyone who got a PS3 during Black Friday and playing this game for the first time.

I'm not a newb to games but this game can be frustratingly difficult at times. This is coming from someone who beat all the Modern Warfare and Gears of War games on normal difficulty (not saying I'm a pro, but I have the ability to beat most games I play).

Does it get even more difficult as the game progresses? I am currently on Chapter 12 and so far there were two parts that made me want to chuck the controller. The part where you drop into shallow water in a blue tunnel, and the part where you are trapped in a building
right before you realize Sully is still alive from Elena's camera.

Please keep spoilers to a minimum. I just want to know if I'm done with the hardest parts of the game.

dude the game is the hardest in the series especially on crushing. the grenade mechanics suck and the main positive of it is that because you end up with only a handgun most of the time { after running out of long gun ammo} youll get good with using it which is helpful to be able to use in mp.

This game has a few more chapters that you'll get to and want to stop playing. If you eventually get by them you'll have a few more chapters of 'fun,' then catch up to an unbalanced section, where your opinion of the game changes. I always go from enjoying the game series with a smile, and then hating its buggy controls and shooting setup.

If you've played the others, they all have an annoying difficulty where some chapters are easy to get through, and then there will be a chapter that just is unevenly difficult.

If this is your first Uncharted game, and you don't enjoy it, don't play the others. People will say that they completely fix every problem with each sequel, but I disagree. I still like the first one the best, and that isn't a huge compliment. It's has guns, but it's not a shooter game; it has puzzles, but it's not a puzzle game; it has platforming, but it's not a platforming game. It's uncertain what it wants to be, and for attention lacking gamers, this works. But because it's not one of those three previous categories, it doesn't do any of those 3 particularly well.
