Is Rigigigas really going to be available for 3 weeks?

EDIT: at the last such event, my son used the $5 off coupon that was given out to buy a copy of the "game" Master of Illusion from the clearance bin, priced at $5, so for free. He didn't even have to pay tax, so really for free. Well, he and his brother got a little play out of it before getting bored with it, plus it had a deck of cards in it, so I'd call that a good deal! Hopefully there'll be a similar coupon and something decent for $5 in the clearance bin again!
 
I'd recommend using the $5 off DS game coupon on Elite Beat Agent ($5 in the clearance bin).

I got several copies of EBA at the last event Toys R Us download event (it was for the lvl 50 dragonite) and gave them away to people who's never heard of the that title before. When I check back a couple weeks later, everyone's addicted to that game. :D

The Toys r Us you went to is full of lazyasses because those coupons are only good for Pokemon games and ONLY Pokemon games.
 
All TRU's had the same coupon and as far as I know it was good on ANY DS game. I was there as well, but unfortunately we don't have any good games in the clearance bins here. Oh well I will be at TRU for these downloads.
 
Nohbdy has absolutely no idea what he/she is talking about. The coupon was good on any DS game. As I noted above, my son used the same coupon to get a free copy of Master of Illusion. The coupon specifically said "Any DS Game".

Added bonus here is that Master of Illusion is eligible for Club Nintendo points.

Absolutely! 40 free points (30 + 10 post-play). Elite Beat Agents is also a Club Nintendo eligible game and also $5 on clearance at TRU, so if you don't already have that and you are lucky to find a copy of it there and we get a similar coupon this time, you've now got even more reason to pick it up. I know there was at least one at the TRU we were at last time, so it might not be impossible. Of course everyone should get EBA anyway. Are there any other CN-eligible games on clearance for $5 at TRU?

You have to play the game up to a point, but I don't know what point because I have never actually played the game. My son has and he could probably answer your question even though the comics here don't seem too willing. As i recall, though my memory on this is sketchy, you turn on the game and start it up and there is a "Receive gift" menu item in the initial menu, or something like that. You select that and maybe pick something else after that from a menu and then it gets downloaded to your copy of the game. At that point you've gotten the gift pokemon into the game, but you have to go talk to somebody in the game to actually get the pokemon, and who that is I can't remember and I definitely don't know where. Maybe one of the geniuses here will actually answer your question.
 
For the sake of it, this is what you do when at these type of events.

You go into the store and walk over to the R*Zone (or anywhere in the store for that matter since this is done wirelessly). You flip on your DS with your copy of Pokemon Diamond or Pearl inside and get the game booted up. When you come to the main menu of the game, you should have the options as follows:

Continue
New Game
Mystery Gift
Nintendo WFC Settings

You want to choose the "Mystery Gift" setting for this occasion. So, click on "Mystery Gift" and it brings to a new screen with the available options:

Receive Gift
Check Card
Exit

You want to choose "Receive Gift". Pick it and it brings up a new box with the options:

Get from a friend
Get via wireless
Get via Nintendo WFC
Cancel

Here, you want to choose "Get via wireless", and a card should pop up for whatever Pokemon is available for this download. It will ask you if you want to download the Pokemon, pick yes, and when the download is done, you can then play your game. To obtain the downloaded Pokemon in-game, simply go to any Pokemon Store (where you buy items in-game) and there should be a man in a green outfit. Talk to him and he will give you the Pokemon you downloaded, just make sure you have an extra spot in your party to hold him.

Also, because I know it will be asked, Don't have Mystery Gift? Click Here to see how to get it.
 
Just wanted to add... You don't need to do the "Everybody Happy, Wi-Fi Connection" thing at the Jubilife TV station. It will automatically appear when you turn on your game in the vicinity of the R*Zone at TRU. (Observant players may have noticed that the power light blinks at the New Game, Continue, etc. menu. That's the game looking for any special mystery gift signals floating around)
 
The in-game requirement to receive Regigigas is to have a Pokedex.

This takes 20 minutes to get in a fresh save.
 
I think this is the only way, other then people trading you pokemon on the GTS. However, people seem to be idiots on the GTS asking for lvl 100 pokemon for their lvl 9 geodude.
 
Both of the downloadable Pokemon will have a special feature if you tranfer it to Pokemon Platinum.

Shaymin will be able to turn into its Sky Form when combined with a special item you find in Platinum if you have the Shaymin transferred over.

Regigigas will be able to turn into one of three other Pokemon when you combine it with a special item you find when it is transferred over.

That's not quite right. In a Japanese event, a special Regigigas was given away that allowed you to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in Platinum. It doesn't turn into them. There's no telling if this Regigigas will do that, though it probably will.

Serebii.net confirmed that the event Regigigas that Nintendo is giving away at Toys R Us in March is the same Regigigas that they gave away at the 10th Pokemon movie even in Japan. It will be at level 100 and will unlock the areas that Regice, Regirock and Registeel are located.

The Regigigas you catch in D/P will not unlock the three Regi's in Platinum, only the one given away at the Nintendo Event at Toys R Us.

I already have Regigigas, so...I get another one? I've never seen Shaymin though. I guess if I only need the first Pokedex, I can get 2 of each (since I own D & P)!

Also, they need to release Ho-Oh and Lugia already. And maybe Celebi, too.

EDIT: Wow...Regigigas is level 100.

Just the first pokedex is necessary.

I'll have to hit them up...or trade for them on Serebii.

Yes. You can still get the new Regigigas.

I'm not playing through those legitimately to get them (AKA, I sold my GameCube to get a Wii, and now I can't use my Action Replay to cheat Master Balls/infinte heart unlockers). Although there is that infinite Master Ball glitch in Colosseum ^_^ but still, not playing through that game again to do it.
 
Thanks for the fast answer, advanced. =) I personally found Regigigas kinda lame (not in stats, just in that he was the three regis made into one... I would have prefered something completely new/different), but the special event pokemons are fun to get.

I wanna be a legit pokemon breeder. XD :giggle:

If you have Regigigas already, then you should have the National Dex. But with any concern, yes, you don't "technically" need to have the National Dex to download them.

And as Gwen said, Ho-Oh was available for catch in Pokemon Colosseum, while Lugia was available for catch in Pokemon XD. The funny thing about Celebi is, in Japan, as a pre-order bonus for Pokemon Colosseum, they gave away a special gamecube disc that had Celebi on it, while here in America, we were given the same disc, but it contained Jirachi instead, since Jirachi had never previously been released in the U.S.

I own the Jirachi disc which goes for a good amount on Ebay, and I've tried to obtain the Celebi disc, but the only auctions I've seen for it are for over $300.
 
Technically speaking, Celebi was released in the U.S. too during one of those Journey Across America tournament things. If you weren't near one of those cities though, I guess that doesn't mean much to you. guinaevere, didn't you go to the one in Atlanta?

Well, I never played through Diamond. I got the Pokedex in that, basically stopped. BTW, pretty much the only reason I have Diamond is because it allowed me to get Mew, and I could get infinite Mew's forever if I wanted to.

I just hate the amount of kids at these things. I play the game to remind me of being 10 years old, not to hang out with 10 year olds. I'll probably go. Now that I'm unemployed, I have nothing better to do.

Anybody want to trade one of these guys for that Dragonite that was released last time? I missed that event.

Is there a website that announces past and future events that give out Pokemon? I was looking on the Celebii site but couldn't find anything about upcoming events. Although I'm not gonna lie, I did not check the forums.

Celebi was indeed given out at JAA. Not only that, you got to choose to receive 3 of the 10 (not sure) most popular Pokemon according to a vote on their website. Suicune, Entei and Raikou were some of the ones voted in.

I missed it because I would've had to take a 2 hour drive to LA when gas cost 3.50. I was not happy. Especially since all I needed was Celebi to fully complete my Pokedex in my copies of LG and Emerald.

I'm now excited for the Regigas download.

As far as the GBA games went, Deoxys was probably the most rare. That one was given away at the more limited 2004 Pokemon Rocks America. (Atlanta, Minneapolis, Seattle only). I think it was also available at the Houston space center for a period of time. That JAA Celebi was given out at a bunch of different cities. Mew, of course was a TRU event and even more widespread. Ahh, the bad old days of no wifi. :wall:

Well, I just let my girlfriend know what we're doing for Valentine's Day ;) Thanks for the heads up, OP -- I'll be downloading them into Diamond, and my gf will take my copy of Pearl for another set :)
