Original Post:

I did a search and nothing came up, so thought I would point it out. This is my first deal so hope it's alright. :)

Good Old Games is offering to those who sign up before September 7th a chance to still sign up and get into beta. They'll be going out in chunks, but when your turn does come up, they are offering a buy one get one free deal.

The game selection seems approximately around 30 games at the moment (from what I've read), but there are a few good gems in there such as the Fallout series.

They just updated their site today with the information.

The Early Access Beta will offer all the main features of the site, including buying DRM-free games, joining the community and writing reviews. Apart from just getting access, everyone buys a game from GOG.com during the Early Access Beta will receive a bonus code to get one game from GOG.com’s Interplay catalogue for free! So what are you waiting for? If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to enter your email address and get in on the action.
Anyhoo, for those looking for a trip down memory lane, I thought it was a decent deal.

I signed up the moment I first heard about it...so a long time ago. I don't recall exactly when, sorry. I accidently removed myself from the mailing list about two weeks ago and then signed back up again - I'm not sure if that had any impact or not.
I'm still at work so I'm not downloading anything yet. I will be tonight though.

Same, still haven't received my key :(

1nsane is a great lan game. I'm also excited about getting my hands on the dbts expansion that I could never find for a decent price either. TOCA 3 is another must buy for my lan parties. If these work 100% on XP and Vista (including netcode), and are really completely DRM free, they've got a long term customer in me.

I only have DSL here, but it is maxing out my download speed at least at 80KB/s. Needless to say, not a great connection I have, but hopefully someone with faster broadband can try and see as soon as they get in.

Could you post the complete list of games avaliable with the price?

Check the first post on the thread, I keep updating it with the latest information. I just added prices today after I woke up and got to see them. The list you provided from Something Aweful was correct, and nothing has been added since. Will see Thursday if they announce some new games.

Got Fallout 1 and 2 for 5.99, woot. Win. If only they had the old Ultima games, I'd be in heaven. Or some Lucas Arts adventure games.

Thanks Kurina and Nexen for the feedback.

I know I signed up.... and I got the wife to sign up too.

It's funny that they say only Interplay games... thinking they might branch out to other ones which would be great.

I know I'll buy 1 for sure.. think about what my 2nd one may be.

probably get Fallout and Descent, since I can get 3 to work in XP/Vista just fine.

Yeah, I noticed that about a second after posting and deleted my post.

As soon as I get my beta code, Fallout (Fallout 2 freebie) and Giants: Citizen Kabuto (Redneck Rampage freebie) will be mine

Np! I figure most don't reread the posts anyways, so was also just mentioning it in general. Figured it would be easy to keep it all in one place. :D
Whoa, wait. You can do the B1G1 more than once?

If so, holy shit, I'm buying every Interplay game on the list.
You can do one for each account, it is only for first time buyers. I don't think they track credit card info though, but I don't have a second account to try and attempt that. They don't seem to hold the info though under my profile, so here's hoping!

@Xycury

They do offer Codemasters as well, but only Interplay are allowed for the B1G1 deal it seems. Still tho, that comprises most of their catalog so still pretty good. I really hope other companies jump on board with this eventually though. Be so nice to buy some old compatible games again.

Oh, it's only 1 per account. :( There rules made it sound like you could use it multiple times as long as you purchase a game one at a time. Guess I'll only buy Fallout (Fallout 2 freebie) and Redneck Rampage when I get my beta account.

Got in to the beta on the first wave yesterday (signed up in early August for the beta) and bought Fallout. Still waiting for my B1G1 code so I can get a second game. Anyone else still waiting for their B1G1 code too?

Is it just me, or do the $5.99 games seem much more valuable to the rest of you than the $9.99 games, release era be damned?

Can't wait to be a pornstar again in Fallout 2.

I think the Fallout games have made me lose the will to do anything but play them, COLLEGE BE DAMNED!

Man, Giants Citizen Kabuto/Fallout Tactics would be tempting if I could do a 2nd b1g1, I owned Kabuto before, but have no idea WHERE the disk is.

Yay, just got my key!

Never played Giants or Sacrifice, so might pick up those two.

Hopefully they get some bigger games on the list eventually. I wouldn't mind picking up Icewind Dale.

ARRGH

I wonder where my key is at :bomb:

I got my key! ^_^ As to the guy who said IWD, that would be great, but it's a D&D game, so there are some messy licensing problems with that one.

I've bought Fallout, don't know what I'll use my free thing on. Probably Fallout 2.
How are the download speeds?
Fallout 2 (about half a gig) downloaded in under 30m for me.

ALSO: For Fallout 2 there are killer extras. PDF manual, QRC, and the entire soundtrack in mp3 format. Those were pretty much worth the price alone for me. I'm listening to Fallout at work right now.

Wow this is cool. I sooooo hope this is successful for a variety of reasons (but if it's not, since you actually OWN what you buy, you won't lose anything).

I loved the Messiah demo when I played that back in 2000. I missed out on the full game...but $6? Awesome! I think that'll be my first purchase.

Geez, when you compare some of this stuff to the just as or more expensive console downloads that you don't even own...

got my key! im on my mac at work but im gonna go ahead and buy/download/burn fallout on a disc so its all ready when i get home tonight

Oooh I'm not really a PC gamer but looking forward to getting Fallout 1 + 2 before 3 comes out and I play the shit out of that! I know they're different, but I'd love to play the originals anyways since I've heard nothing but good about them.

Anyone else wish they'd get more developers/games? Particularly System Shock 1 & 2. :D
Particularly System Shock 1 & 2. :D
Sadly I highly doubt they could get the System Shock series on there. I think EA would rather keep those games to themselves. :bomb:
Sadly I highly doubt they could get the System Shock series on there. I think EA would rather keep those games to themselves. :bomb:
Maybe EA could just buy GOG and list all old EA games as well.

We could get the back-catalogs from Bullfrog, Maxis, Origin, Westwood, Pandemic, and BioWare ...

(Well, if any parts of the back catalog were wholly owned when EA ate them anyways. For BioWare, at least, I think this is an empty list.)

Woohoo I finally got the early access key but...

Now I don't know what to get. I already own physical copies of Messiah, Sacrifice, Giants, Evolva, Fallout 1 & 2 and many others. :whistle2:#

Maybe I'll grab Sacrifice since I had a hard time getting it to run last time I tried.

:EDIT:

Y'know what would be amazing!? If they added Tribes 2 on to there sans the login requirements.
I finally got a key!

Not sure where I'm supposed to log in though......
You need to make an account first.

Don't you dare say that EA should buy them out!!!!

They'll add the DRM back in and ruin this pc love.

I finally got my key this morning but will wait till I get home to setup an account.

I wonder when the wife will get hers.... hmm

Anyways, I'll have to think about what to get~
Don't you dare say that EA should buy them out!!!!

Those are some damn nice extras they offer with those games. I love the fact that they're offering the soundtracks with most of them.

Oh, and how do the games that are multiplayer work online? Do they give you a CD-key with the ones that used one? And how do games such as Fallout Tactics that used Gamespy Arcade for matchmaking work, have they had any changes in that regard or is it pretty much the exact same as the original games?

I don't get it... the source code for the OG descent was made public YEARS ago... that game should be available for free somewhere.

Finally got my code today. Their site looks great...the forums might not be the greatest, but everything else is just slick as all get out as far as I'm concerned. I'll be figuring out my game purchases tonight. :D
I don't get it... the source code for the OG descent was made public YEARS ago... that game should be available for free somewhere.
True it can be had, but then comes the one feature that most like about GOG, the vista ready, so no use mucking up with DosBox however easy it is, it just got easier.

Plus with the promotion, you can pick up a second game.

DRM free also.

Got my code last night and I'm thinking of grabbing Freespace 2 and another game ... my problem is that I don't have any fucking time to play these but for $6 I can get FS2 and Fallout or Fallout 2.

Just got in today and picked up Fallout 1 & 2. I never played those games and I don't even care about Fallout 3 but it seems like it's good.

Would I be able to get another code if I picked up another game and which games are good?

It won't let me make an account. When I click the make an account button, it loads and then goes back to where it was. Did anyone else have this problem?
I don't get it... the source code for the OG descent was made public YEARS ago... that game should be available for free somewhere.
Free source code is not the same as free game. Was the content free as well or does it still need the original content?

Quake and Duke Nukem 3D only released source code as well, iirc.

I can't decide what I want lol. Any recommendations? Fallout looks cool but I don't have time for a long game like that. Looks a bit.....not fun too.
