Big news .... Gamestop is no longer taking in store pre orders for the CE or the Black Armor nationwide. "We're sold out."

You can still get the CE online through GS website. However, Black Armor edition is not showing up. Links to retailers still taking pre orders for Black Armor edition is in yellow bellow. (Just scroll down this OP)

Meanwhile, searches on Best Buy for Black Armor or CE were showing up empty. However, the website is still showing you can preorder either online. You have to search "Dark Souls ii" and not use the number 2. Weird. Thanks to midloo for pointing this out.

Just saying .... Last time DkS came out with a LE, NamcoBro had a huge SNAFU, as many didn't get their LEs.

Amazon is selling the official, hardcover strategy guide for $21. Gamestop and other places are selling it for $35. Thanks to CAG user cruzadel for sharing this.

Namco is selling the PC CE for $109.95. It includes everything as the regular CE, but you get a digital version of the game and a t-shirt. You can pre order it here. I am not sure if they charge for shipping. There is also a section for promo codes, but I don't know of any. If you do, please share. 

Update - 03.05.14: 

Amazon is currently sold out of the PS3 Black Armored Edition. Earlier, the CE was sold out as well, but has since returned to stock (as of 03/05). While I think those geting the Black Armor through Amazon will get it no problem, I should warn some about getting the CE. 

Just look at horror from the Bravely Default CE. 

I hope I'm wrong. 

Meanwhile, BB has no in store pickup ATM. 

Because Titanfall is also coming out on March 11, GS will have a midnight release for DkS II. I spoke to an employee who said they wouldn't have done the midnight release for souls if it wasn't for Titanfall. It just so happens both come out on same day. Praise the Sun. 

Also, you can save $5 by preordering the CE through Target. The Black Armor Edition is sold out however. To get the savings, click here, then checkout. If you do Target's credit card, you can save an additional 5%. Not too shabby. Link to Target DkS II CE: 

Some reviews have come in - 

Four different reviewers from Famitsu gave it a 9, 10, 9 and 9 out of 10, or a 37/40. Impressive. The previous Dark Souls received the same score. 

Meanwhile, one German magazine, M! Game, gave Dark Souls II a 90/100 and also said it is the "hardest game in the word." M! gave the first Dark Souls an 81/100. 

The CE also comes with some in game items, actually, a lot of in game items. Not sure how I feel about this, but I guess I'll take them. 

In other news, From Software said it has no plans for DLC for the game. I'm cool with this. 

If you are looking to join a Dark Souls community to talk strategy, then you can check out this forum. I've been a part of it since original release and members really get into this game here. Everyone is really kind and helpful and some people do spreadsheets with crazy data and stuff. 

It is a medium sized community, which I like. Your questions get answered and not buried a la Gamefaqs, but to each their own.

It's already being dubbed "prepare to be broke" edition. Selling for $119.99. Last time, From Software gave everyone who preordered Dark Souls a free upgrade to the collector's edition, but for those of us that remember, there was one big SNAFU with that. (People didn't get their LEs, unless they preordered at Gamestop, for the most part.)

I'm dropping the big bucks on this. I don't care. This is my favorite game of this console generation. Here's what it comes with, from Joystiq:

"The Collector Edition is priced at $119.99 and includes a cloth map of the game's world, an art book and a 12" Warrior Knight figurine. It also contains the Black Armor edition of Dark Souls 2, meaning you'll have a soundtrack and metal case to go with the steeled will any Dark Souls fan undoubtedly harbors."

Just went to my local GameStop and preordered it there. I'll be there at midnight. 

I should note, GS requires a minimum $25 to preorder the CE. 

Also, considering how From Software is notorious for messing up pre orders, and how insane the Souls community is, this might be one of those "you snooze you lose" type deals. Then again, this could be $79.99 three months after release. I did a poll on a Dark Souls forum, and pretty much everyone is getting the CE. Then again, those guys are like me. Also, I recommend PS3 version. Just my two bits. 360 version just as good, but more Souls fans play on PS3.

I pre-ordered from BBY because of GCU and a $10 Reward Certificate that was going to expire. The collector edition was only $92 after discounts and tax.

The poll shows that about 170 have voted thus far. Believe it or not, those are actually really good numbers to gauge where the majority of people are purchasing Dark Souls 2.

To give you an example, 400 people were surveyed to give their opinion on how well they felt their community was doing in terms of safety, education, taxes, etc. The population of said city was 64,000. At first, I thought this was flawed - how can you take such a small sample size and apply it to 64,000 people.

As it turns out, I spoke to experts in this field and they confirmed 400 people was indeed a good sample size to gauge how the community of 64K felt. I'm only guessing here, but I think DkS II will sell close to 1 million copies in its first week or month. The interest is there, especially after the first DkS.

Not saying the CAG poll is a large enough sample size, but I do think the votes thus far can give us some perspective.

That being said, I'm sorta surprised that so few people reserved at GS and the majority reserved at BB. Is it becaue of the Gamers Club that so many people are reserving at Best Buy? I can understand Amazon - no tax and Prime members.

Just curious so here is my question: Why did you choose to reserve your copy at the place you did?

I picked GS because BB screwed me over the original DkS LE and, more recently, Bravely Default CE (still got a copy on release, though. Got lucky.) That being said, GS has never let me down, which is why I reservd my copy there.

I have 1 preordered from best buy and gamestop.

The one from best buy is the one I plan on picking up. Because of my gcu and the reward points it's cheaper.

The gamestop one I preordered a long time ago because I kept transferring $5 in credit between pre orders and I can only use the credit on a pre order so I was told. I only plan on picking this up if best buy screws my pre order up somehow. Otherwise I just won't pick it up and let the credit go back to my card eventually.

Btw, I pre ordered the black armor edition. I originally had the ce pre ordered when it was announced from amazon. But cancelled because it was too pricey for my blood.
 
Sounds like Best Buy's GCU pays for itself after a few purchases. I wouldn't be surprised to see GS offer something similar down the road. GCU seems to be pretty popular on CAG.

wonder if they'll release a ps4 / xbox1 version of the game in a couple of months or so? with 2nd son and metal gear coming out the weeks after this release, i just wouldn't have time to give more for this game. This game takes a lot of time to get used to and a lot of hours to put it to be better specially coz pvp will probably more widely used coz of the dedicated servers.

 
I was going to preorder on Amazon but they sold out of the PS3 Black Armor version right when I went to do that so I jumped to BB instead. This way I'll actually get to pick it up on release day too (assuming BB doesn't mess things up somehow).

It's pretty crazy how everyone is selling out! Did this happen with the first game? I can't remember as I didn't preorder that one.

I got a shipping notification Wednesday or Thursday and delivery from TN to PA isn't expected until Wednesday. Ok then. My main concern is that I forgot Best Buy probably threw the Black Armor edition into a slightly padded envelope. I was blinded by the GCU discount and didn't consider that until last week.
 
I am debating should i pick up the collector edition at best buy and sell the black armor ps3 version.  with it sell out everywhere might be able to sell at high price and keep the statue cheap or free.

I actually already tried to use that the last time I just left the office for like 40 minutes. Too soon for that.

This will have some finessing. My boss is at some conference in Vegas actually, but since everyone else will still be there I will be pulling the 'extra sniffles and cough' routine' so that when I am not there the next day everyone else will be like 'aw makes sense.' It helps too that my office is primarily old women haha

 
My body is so ready for this. This is probably my favorite IP from the 7th gen. I have the platinum on Demon's Souls, the platinum on the UK Demon's Souls (different lists due to different publishers), the platinum on Dark Souls, the 1000 on the 360 version of Dark Souls, and the 1000 on the PC version of Dark Souls. This game is getting annihilated on Tuesday! :D

 
Preordered at Walmart. Going to go at midnight to make sure I get the black armor edition. Wasn't going to pick it up at launch cause I hate spending 60 on a game, but the soul series are my favorite of last gen. I'll kick myself if they end up porting dk2 to the ps4/xbone within a couple months

I doubt they will judging by their past statements on why they chose 360/ps3.

Even if they do, I will have beaten this by then and would welcome playing it again on the X1 haha. I honestly can't support this franchise enough.

 
Preordered the Black Armor Edition for PS3 the other day off Best Buy's site and chose pick-up in store to the local BBY near my base down here in FL. Thing is, at checkout it stated "items shipped to store normally deliver in 3-7 days"

Does this apply to me, or will i be able to go in the morning on Tuesday and pick it up? It seems redundant to choose the pickup in store option if it takes just as long to get as if i'd picked ship to home. I mean, they've got to have boxes of the game just sitting in the back waiting to be stocked, so I'm hoping me choosing "pickup at THIS location" basically preordered the game for me within that store's database.

From all the interviews I've read, they have zero plans to do so and said they would rather spend their time, resources, working on something different. Highly doubt that will happen so I woulnd't worry too much.

If you're looking to dump any Xbox one games and you have GCU, at lot of them will be trading in to Best Buy for 47.50 because they are promoting Titanfall. The nice thing about this is that you don't actually have to get Titanfall and it's ALMOST a straight trade for Dark Souls if you have GCU.  So, I'll be trading battlefield for 47.50 and getting DS2 for 47.99.

 
Best Buy just sent me a email saying my CE will be available on March 11. Now I have to check to see if I can pick it up at Midnight since they're doing a titan fall release.

Thanks for the idea. I think I'm going to get rid of BF4 as well since I doubt I will be touching it now that Titanfall is nearly out. I'll only lose 50¢+tax in the deal (got it for $48 from BB) and can save the money I was going to use for Dark Souls 2 towards another game.

Yeah I am going to drop pretty much all of my X1 games.

Between this, Titanfall, I recently finally started Ni No Kuni, Bravely Default and then not to mention my massive PC and console backlog I can't see myself playing BF4, CoD, Ryse or NFS Rivals. I will still have Dead Rising and Rayman for X1 at least (plus Titanfall of course). I just can't pass up $200 for those four games when I got them last year and I only spent roughly $145 on them total anyway.

I'm thinking about trading in Dead Rising 3 as well. I've finished the game (not all the achievements though) but I kind of want to keep it since I enjoyed it so much. I really have little interest in downloading the massive update or paying for the DLC though so I'm leaning towards getting nearly what I paid for it back and maybe rebuying it when it's cheap used from Gamefly or something.

Hehe. If I trade DR3, I'll still have Forza 5 and then Titanfall tomorrow. I have all the other next-gen stuff that I wanted on PS4. I actually should probably trade Forza as well since I have barely touched it and probably won't anytime soon with the landslide of games coming out.

Honestly I have no idea what I am going to do for the next 7 hours. 

I wish I could just sleep, wake up and have it be 11:30 p.m. I'm so excited to play this damn game! There aren't even any reviews up (other than the 2 foreign reviews posted on OP) to keep me busy. 

Just got $62 via cash rewards from Amex for various purchases with credit card. Used that, plus the $25 I put down a long time ago, toward the CE. Ended up paying $42 or so. Not too shabby.

The Gamestop I went to is a very popular location in the Chicagoland area. I was told only 5 people reserved the PS3 CE and 12 the Black Armor. Thank God for Titanfall lol ... otherwise there wouldn't be a midnight release.

If you don't mind me asking, where in the Chicagoland area are you located out of curiousity? I commute up to the Loop every day for work from Lisle and will be getting my copy at the Downers Grove Best Buy

 
Fry's is apparently backordered now.  Just got an e-mail saying they'll ship whenever they get more stock.

Assuming my local Best Buy and GameStops are participating in midnight releases, can I just walk into one of these stores at midnight and buy the game? I got tired of Amazon being really wishy washy about "we don't know when we're gonna be able to ship it" since it seems they oversold the game, so I canceled my order for the PS3 Black Armor edition. The PS3 Black Armor edition seems to be selling out for online retailers, so I'm a little worried about it's availability in brick and mortar shops, which is why I'd like to secure a copy as soon as possible. I'm also considering stopping by Walmart in the morning before work, if I don't go to a midnight release.

I live in Lincoln Park, but my main store is Skokie in Village Crossing. I've been going to that location since I was a kid and it was called Funcoland. I have good rapport with the staff there and they know me, the games I get, etc. So when it comes to must have titles like this, I always reserve there.

The place is always slammed when I go there and the manager has told me in the past that they are one of the better performing stores in the region.
