Urban Dead - The Official Cheap Ass Survivor Thread

Okay, since Budge has gone and disappeared, I think I'm recalling his subgroup. I'll send out the PMs shortly.

And I wouldn't put lights up in Banana Grabber just yet. Wait until we get a better foothold.

Plume - the reason you don't get the codenames is because I haven't been sending them to Budge's group. Keeps the number of PMs I have to send down.

But now that I'm thinking you guys are gonna return to the main group, I'll send you folks the PM soon.

good, thank you sir

Also - please, nobody even mention the name of the Suburb we're in. Or update the danger rating on the Wiki. Or anything like that.

EDIT: Kdjayo, please add yourself to the Wiki. Sp00ge, you should probably get Catherine on there.

Also, the only real difference between the new and old UDBrain that I can see (aside from not working with the Red Rum map) is the level of detail with regards to how old the information is. Instead of showing, say, "2 days", it shows "2 days, 3 hours, 51 minutes, and 11 seconds".

Yeah UDBrain seems to be working for me. anywho, thanks for the codes. I can't even head there now since a friend made a character on my network and now we cannot play on our characters, so I'll have to wait a bit.

Damnit, I guess the new extension has issues with Mortal's GM script. Damnit... Anyone happen to have the GM version of UDBrain still on their comp?

Alright, it's definitely going to take me some time to get to Banana. I'm in Dulston right now, as I stated before. I'm going to stay here a bit and farm FAKs and heal people until I get free running.
Hey everybody, let's use UDunBrain, it submits false info to the UDBrain so the zeds won't know where we're at.
That is actually a good idea. There are websites for zeds dedicated to taking this type of data and sharing it so that they know the cade levels, survivor pop, etc., of all of the suburbs.

Though our vision may be limited, the zeds wont be able to see our status as closely. I would vote that our group turn off UDBrain for now. (I can't seem to get UDunBrain to work properly).

Well I know I'm not going to be able to get to Banana in one day, so I'll need a place to stay overnight, and UDBrain will help out a lot in finding a spot.

You should turn off UDBrain but keep UDBrainMap on for now. You won't need UDBrain to help find you a place to stay, it'll just give away your's and everyone else's position. I'm pretty sure UDBrain played a big role in the survivor's demise.

I say we basically stop using UDBrain for now, and just switch to pm/irc/forum for communication. Remember, you can leave messages in the topic title in IRC.

Ah I see, gotcha.

I still roll low tech and always will, no extensions for UD whatsoever, just the plain ol' site running in awesome IE!
Glad to know that I'm not helping out the zeds, it really isn't that hard to play sans extensions. Y'all should do just fine.

If you installed the UDBrain extension and want to revert back to the GM script version (.206) because:
1) UDBrain extension has conflicts with your other GM scripts (i.e. Mortal's),
2) UDBrain extension is bogging down your resources more,
3) You just plain prefer the GM script to the extension,

Follow these simple steps:
1) Uninstall UDBrain Extension via the add on window, restart when done.
2) Download the UDBrain GM script here.

How to fool the UDBrain-using zeds (requires Firefox, GM, and UDBrain .206):
Assume most if not all the zed opposition is using UDBrain in conjunction with UDBrainMap, and outnumber us 2 to 1. All we can do to stay alive is cade and run away. But for some reason, the zeds find your exact location using UDBrain. Here is a strategy to throw those pesky UDBrain zeds off your scent:

1) First thing's first, TURN OFF UDBRAIN. Go to Tools > Greasemonkey > Manage User Scripts... and uncheck the enabled box for UDBrain. It's fine to leave UDBrainMap on.

2) Pick a destination building to run to. Preferably a low priority building such as a Museum or Motel. This will be point B. Make sure this destination is no more than 30-35 ap away.

3) Pick a building in between your starting point and end point. Preferably a high priority target such as Police station, that is 3-5 blocks away from point B. This will be point A. This will be the decoy.

4) Run to point A, repair the building and cade up to at least VSB.
***optional: Shoot a flare at this position if you have one.

5) TURN ON UDBRAIN. Refresh your screen using the url: http://www.urbandead.com/map.cgi. TURN OFF UDBRAIN

6) Use remaining ap to head to point B. If there's a zed inside, choose a nearby building. It is in your best interest to leave this building Opn/Ruined.

This should throw off any zeds scouting for survivors using UDBrain. And grant you at least a day to recharge and keep moving if necessary.

This can be done with the Extension version of UDBrain, but you will have to restart Firefox in the process, which is a hassle. The UDBrain GM script works perfectly fine.

Leaving UDBrain is hazardous to our health at the moment. As much as possible, please keep it disabled.

Sounds like a pain in the ass. Why not coordinate with other CAGs through PMs?

I finally install udbrain and then get this: Alert: The UDBrain script has been retired in favor of the new extension version. Please visit the homepage to install the extension. Then right-click on the Greasemonkey icon in your status bar, hit Manage Userscripts, find UDBrain, and click uninstall.

Son of a bitch.

I wish there was a skill that allowed me to see what's outside when I'm inside a building.

And while I'm making UD wishes, I wish I got 1 ap every 15 minutes.

Assuming the "safehouse" you're referring to is the one in HotShot's OP, it's likely outdated. Don't move until you've talked to me.

EDIT: Just looked at it, and the OP is, like, months out of date. HotShot hasn't been involved in the Urban Dead metagame for some time. I'll send you a PM shortly.
My human character, focandz, was killed in Dulston this evening.

I was off by 1 AP.

Well, I guess my career as a zombie griefer starts tomorrow.
I'm in Rhodenbank making do. I hopped out of Dulston as fast as I could. I even died but someone was nice enough to rez me as soon as I got into a cemetery.

For binoculars to work, you have to be on a "high enough building" I forgot all that you can use binoculars on, but I know towers allow binoculars for sure.
I warned ya, did I not?
Yeah, I know.

I stood up and killed a zombie sieging a mall. It felt good.

Maybe I can get the zeds to focus on killing each other or me instead of the mall.

My second character holed himself up this morning a few clicks north of Banana Grabber. If I don't get killed, I should be able to help out the team tonight.

On a side note, I've noticed a lot of buildings keep the lights off to distract the zombies. Is that an effective survival strategy?

OK, I am at a cemetary below Banana Grabber. Can someone give me a revive?
On a side note, I've noticed a lot of buildings keep the lights off to distract the zombies. Is that an effective survival strategy?
It can be a valid tactic to avoid drawing too much attention. Any resource building that has a powered generator is most likely being actively used by survivors. Keeping generators powered down is a way to get the zeds to possibly pass up your building although in the current state of UD, I think the zeds are just destroying any resource building, regardless of whether it is powered or not.
I got you, ADS.

By the way, who the hell is Ther Lannerman, and when/how did he join CAS?
Thanks! I'm in banana grabber and relatively low on HP if someone wants some free XP.

I also caded the entry point directly below B.G. to VSB++
Come over to the NE art and i can heal you. I only have 9 AP so even using the one to come over there is to much.
Hmmm. I passed out entering BG. Can you see me?

I should be good for 1 heal.

Yeah, I didn't know who they were either or Cathrine for that matter but I just healed 'em both along taking you up to 49 Arthur.
I am just a healing machine as I believe I got three other CAS members this morning before I left, nice way to grab easy xp too!:)

In other news, I am fully stocked w/ weapons and FAKs so if anyone wants to hit a location tomorrow let me know, I'm game.
If not I guess I'll just find, take, and repair a ruined bldg or something, any priorities in that dept. Crotch?

Just logged in to my zobie alt (BadTimeCharlie) to find that in a twist of irony, he was killed by Mr Chuck! Why I oughta'...
