So I was looking on Amazon to see if they were going to have a guide for Valkyria Chronicles 2, but they had a Valkyria Chronicles artbook listed instead at $17 off the list price!

It's listed as having 400 pages, so it's probably the same thing as the Valkyria: Development Artworks (Japanese) book except a lot cheaper and in English.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1926778162/

Publisher: Udon Entertainment (January 15, 2011)

Udon is the same company that released all of those Capcom artbooks and I have a few of them and they're really cool.
I emailed them and got a very quick response here it is:

"We should be doing a press release about the book in the next 2 weeks or so. But basically it is a localization of the 400 page Japanese book “Gallian Chronicles: Development Artworks”. Contents should be pretty much exactly the same as the Japanese version, only in English."

:)
Edit: New Lower Price: $31.49! :bouncy:

Barnes and Nobel: $33.74
As of this post, the item is under review at Amazon. Perhaps they got a lot of complaints of orange smears? Or maybe complaints that it's getting beat up during shipping? My replacement art book got a tiny bit beat up but nothing to get worried about.
"While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)"

Yeah, thanks a whole lot for the tips about the orange smear you can wipe off. You couldn't have possibly waited like an hour until I got back from my trade-in at Best Buy so I could have ordered this before it got shut down? :)

^ You do know this was available for about a year prior to now at a lower price right? It isn't anyones fault you decided to wait besides yourself.

Just got my book today from ordering 2 days ago. You guys were right, this book is massive and very high quality. 100% happy with the purchase.

Yes Ted, that was the joke.
wow, the price will probably change but for right now, it's $27.77 on Amazon
That's awesome. For people that wanted to buy it yet it was under review, I guess this is a little bonus for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the heads up! In for 1! I can't resist at this price. It's perfect timing since I got an email this morning for $10 credit toward video game related-items sold and shipped by Amazon. So this cost me $17.77. Just hope the book doesn't get that smear.

Thanks to the OP for pointing this out. I got one for my brother's birthday present a few days ago and he really liked it.

Also there was no orange blot.
Ya I ordered one for $0.00 after using credit. Still have like $52 in credit left :) . Hopefully it'll arrive in pristine condition.

But this originally was cheaper at B&N and I submitted this to Amazon for a price match.

I assume others did also as one person submitting won't get it to be changed. Too bad El Shaddai wasn't price matched to Fry's :(
Really wanna get this. Anyone know of any coupon codes for B&N?

@ specialist: I was going to ask why you wouldn't just order it from Amazon, and then I checked their site. It looks like they're not carrying it anymore.

@eau: As for the orange blot, It was an ink stain located on the back cover around one of the lances. If you happen to have one, a little bit of effort should be able to remove it fairly easily.

I ordered and received my copy when they put it back up for $27.77 and it didn't have the stain. It was squished a bit on the top corner of the binding, but I figured that it wasn't bad enough for me to hassle with sending it back and potentially get a worse one as a replacement. Looks like I'm glad I made that decision.

I ended up grabbing one of these from B&N when trying to score an HP Touchpad. The Touchpad got canceled, but the VC book portion got fulfilled.

I can't believe I hesitated on this book. It is absolutely awesome...so much material. It's like an art book and developer commentary rolled into one. I wish Udon had made it as a hardcover as well, but this will do nicely.

since there are probably a lot of VC vans here i wanted to share this
http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/08/sign-this-vciii-petition-now/

probably wont do anything, but its a petition to get them to port over VC 3 to the US. Sorta like operation rainfall. Sony isn't quite as retarded as Nintendo so who knows, its worth a shot since it only takes a minute to do

I notice they have it up again. I think i may order a 2nd copy. Looks like mine arrived a little while ago and I never noticed. I need to look it over

Sony has nothing to do with it, it's Sega's game. They're not going to bother with it - the PSP is pretty much dead and the series didn't sell all that well to begin with.

^This.

I'd love for them to bring over the third game, but I don't see it happening at all. If they haven't announced a single thing for it by now, it's not coming out. It's a shame, because it seems like a wonderful game if the demo's any indication of what the full release is like.

to those poo pooing and saying it wont happen.. ya, your probably right. But if your a fan of the game why the hell not take the 30 seconds it takes to sign the friggin petition. It certainly wont hurt anything

*Dead in America.

Unless I am mistaken, it did well enough in Japan.

Honestly, get some subs and put it on the PSN. Digital only release, no worries about UMDs. Little overhead for a publisher and still will get enough sales to warrant the effort.
