I noticed there was no thread for the discussion of video game music, and it made me sad. I'm a huge fan of game music, it's pretty much all I listen to. One of the first things I do when a game is announced is find out who the composer is, and preorder the OST. I figured there must be other people out there who love game music too.
I'll start things off by listing some of my favorite composers.
Keiki Kobayashi (Ace Combat, Soul Calibur)
Go Shiina (Tales of Legendia, Tekken)
Masahi Hamauzu* (Unlimited Saga, Dirge of Cerberus)
Hideyuki Fukusawa** (Chaos Legion, Onimusha)
*The game he tends to compose for suck ass. Thing is the way he uses strings rocks my face off.
**A recent addition since he blew me away with the OST to Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. I rated it my favorite OST of last year. Even beating out Ace Combat Zero, a series that has had amazing music from the get go. But the character themes in Dawn of Dreams alone were unbelieveable. "Ohatsu's Theme" in particular is a superb track.
