\\:D/ That was awesome. Looks like your gas can is off on the Robocop gun. I have the famous Robocop gun too, except mines just spring loaded. And was like $12.

I definitely did not use enough towels and was not patient enough when I tried this with a friends 360. yay good video.

I did this on my 360 a long time ago when I got the red ring of death and was estatic to see it work again. Unfortunately my GPU was fried so everytime I started playing a game it would lock up and get this red checkerboard pattern then red ring again....so I eventually had to send it back to Microsoft. I wasn't so lucky but at least I'll be getting a refund check and 3 more years on my warantee huh?

Sweet, Cheapy!

I like the dual Wii's in your setup there ;). (Japanese and U.S. version for those who don't know).

I'm guessing you'll never have to triple-towel those.

I just found out my launch Elite is just as defect-ridden as any other normal 360 so I look forward to the day when I get to do this! But hey, MS just fixed the problems in the Elite AND dropped the price! Hooray for me!

Oh well, time to go tempt fate once again.

Nice video Cheapy, be handy if my current 360 dies and I have to resurrect it.

That Robocop gun looked fuck ing sweet, hope it hasn't died on you.

Cheapy, Kotaku recently posted this video on their website. The only reason I mention it is because there was a pretty funny comment on the article:

But kudos to the bald guy in the vid, not for showing us the towel trick, but for knowing he needs to occassionally wash out his ass.

Is it weird that a good number of gamers on the Internet know about your ass washing habits and not your name?

Now I know how to do the towel trick, thanks. Hopefully I won't have to go through that and the whole 3 red rings of death.

I want that robocop gun!
I don't care what you call me as long as you call me!

Nice video CheapyD. The only complaint I have is you should have warned people to take out any disc before they attempt to do this. I would hate to see how scratched up and warped a disc would be if it was in the drive during that time.

Also, is your gun ok?
why don't you just send the thing in??
I live in Japan and have a USA 360. They won't fix it here and it is cost prohibitive to send it to the USA.

I'm waiting for the next episode where Cheapie wraps his RoboCop gun with towels and then uses it to put his 360 out of its misery.

DUDE! Cheapy, why don't you have a Harmony remote? I saw at least one too many remotes and endless to many different button pushes in this video.

Another great video Cheapy. Honestly, I think you should do a video a week or so (well you probably do). These are great.

PS: I think you've mentioned it before, but what's the screen behind you?

Cheapy you rather towel trick your 360 to play than just play games on your PS3? btw was that the PS3 in the background so beautifully displaying the famous cheapassgamer website?!

Hate to see the shipping if you decided to send it back to the states. Of course for the third time I been told they are sending a box for mine and I still don't have it. Probably for the best since I been busy as hell at work for the past few months, but I have to get it fix before Halo 3.

If I don't get the box to send it back by the end of the week, I might have to give this trick a shot....

Uh-oh Cheapy, you've got a critic on Kotaku, someone called CaptBirdseye comments

that guy is insane no wounder people are dieing when thire house is seting up in flames cose people like him learn children and grown ups do things like this and leaving thire 360s on, Whiles a towel is wraped over it. Phone microsoft and get it repaired yeh its dear but realy ist a lot safer than doing what he just did.

Who set us up the flames, him learn children !!!!

Why not just call Microsoft Cheapy? From what I hear, they will basically get down on their hands and knees to please major website owners with their broken 360's.

This was definitely a good video, and steps 3 and 6 were funny. I have one suggestion, and this stood out at me. When you power off your 360 after doing the Towel Trick, don't turn it back vertically until you want to power it back on. Your 360 might live longer that way. But, that's just my suggestion.

He is German so English write are bad. CheapyD did place a fire extinguisher nearby. I hope that Msoft sees this video and send CheapyD a new 65nm Xbox360.

Now that you have Double the Wii is it Double the fun?

I noticed that you put your console in the vertical position. I have heard that the horizontal position will let your console breath better because the ventilation system is not designed with the vertical position in mind. Try to use yours this way and see if it lasts longer than a week.

This video needs to be posted all over the offical MS forums.
Better yet, they need to sticky it on the top of the new repair website they just launched.

does the 3 year extended warranty apply to US customers only?
I still say call it in, and see if they'll flip the bill.

It's weird how you have these weird accidents in front of the camera (robocop gun, freaking over update). It reminded me of you Cucumber video in that regards. Funny shit!

lool

another great video cheapy, funny i always thought more towels would overkill an xbox. So when's the dvd of your greatest online yets comming out?

Call or e-mail your contacts with Microsoft. They will help you. KingBroly is absolutely right. They do want to keep journalists (and whatever you are, Cheapy) happy, so they'll help speed you through the repair process. And since you didn't get a system from them at launch, they might just send you a brand new one if you ask.

Informative vid. This will come in handy for my best friend who's 360 just died!! He got his a couple weeks after mine. I'm sure the clock is ticking on mine.....

Which reminds me, is Ship's 360 still working?

Oh, and watching your Robocop gun shoot out gases was pretty interesting :)

another great video cheapy, entertaining as usual. Towelie voice was hilarious. Using the jackass soundbit in the beginning was a nice touch. I thought you should of have some transition music for the time passing periods like playing "little spanish flea" since the waiting game sucks. To further reference the simpsons I thought you were going to pull out hungry hungry hippos.

the dual wii setup looks nice

again good job

Excellent video. I didn't know there's a whole recipe with instructions involved with doing this trick.

When Cheapy turned his AC on it sounds just like the 360 being on in my living room.

Your AC is remote controlled? I have to admit I’m a little jealous. I live in Houston, TX with an AC Window Unit. It’s not even one of those nice digital ones. The thing has freaking knobs…knobs!

I laughed really hard through most of the clip.
A boring lame video turned out to be surprisingly really funny.
Fantastic, Cheapy, simply fantastic.

Another great vid Cheapy. Question, can you ever wash your ass too much?

Since your 360 is an USA / North American region model....thing, would this mean that you must "import" many of your games? Or do shops in Japan happen to sell US region games? Or do you purchase games in Japan that are region free? (And the question after that, what if the version in Japan isnt region free and you really want game X?)
