Unless May 19th is the 10th anniversary of Owen's death. If it is, I'm old as shit, that seems like it happened a couple years ago.
May 23rd is the tenth anniversary, actually. October will be the 12th anniversary of Pillman. Crazy. Man, Mr. Perfect's been dead for six years now, too. This is crazy.

They're apparently holding Raw next week in Colorado Springs at the same arena they're taping Smackdown and ECW on Tuesday.

May 19th. The release of Kane's movie See No Evil and when Kane's evil masked doppelganger (played by Festus) haunted him.

Raw wasn't a very wrestling-heavy show, but it was a lot of fun to watch from beginning to end. Santino/Santina stole the show easily, although Miz was also funny with both his battle rap-ish promo and the bit in the back with Maryse where he looked like a date rapist due to the crazy faces he was making. J.R. was just "on" tonight - he actually came across like he cared about stuff here, which is more than he usually does on SD.

He seemed to show genuine disgust during Santina/Vickie and then did an excellent job just moments later at hyping up not only the show's main event, but also the PPV one. While none of the angles they've done make me excited about it, including the possibility of a Flair return, J.R. stating that now it will be one-on-one inside the cage without interference made that match seem important.

The Flair-Orton opening was good - nothing too memorable, but Flair at least seemed excited here, unlike in his ROH promos and Orton sucker punch was pretty awesome. Regal's beating of Santina during the Ms. WrestleMania match ruled. He was intense, and came off like a swank bad-ass thanks to it and his suit. Hopefully, he's given a chance to do something meaningful again with the MVP program.

Quotes -
Miz - I AM THE MIZ, AND I AM AWESOME!
Miz - This is for all you Cena fans out there. You see his face and go BUY BUY BUY, here’s a new merchandise idea - JOHN CENA TWO-PLY!
Flair - Just because I’m retired doesn’t mean I can’t fight!
Cole - I’m join now by HALL OF FAMER, JIM ROSS! (Santina comes out)
J.R. - You know, Michael, I’ve called a lot of big ones - WrestleManias, Summerslams, this MIGHT BE the biggest match I’ve ever called and I MEAN IT! I MEAN IT! DOESN’T IT LOOK LIKE A MEAN IT!? NICE SASH!
J.R. - This could be bowling-shoe ugly, Michael.
Cole - This is Vickie’s first time competing in a WWE ring.
J.R. - Thank God it’s not an iron man match!
Cole - This is the first night that Santina and Santino have competed on the same night.
J.R. - NOW THAT IS HISTORIC! THAT SHOULD BE IN THE NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA!
(after kissing Vickie)Santina - I’ve never tasted anything like that before. Oh wait, I think I did…IT WAS CALLED THE OTHER WHITE MEAT!
(after Vickie wins Ms. WrestleMania crown)J.R. - This, ladies and gentlemen…you are witnessing a MOMENT…IN TIME!

Ladies and gentlemen, your Smackdown spoilers for this Friday (including matches signed for the Extreme Rules PPV).

John Morrison & Cryme Tyme b. Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, & Ricky Ortiz (Morrison's Starship Pain moonsault)
Michelle McCool w/ Alicia Fox b. Gail Kim (McCool's Faith Breaker/Styles Clash)
CM Punk b. Chris Jericho by DQ (Umaga interference)
Dolph Ziggler b. R-Truth (Ziggler's First Impression legsweep)
Jeff Hardy b. Edge in a non-title match (Hardy's Swanton Bomb)

Announced for Extreme Rules
CM Punk vs. Umaga (Samoan Strap Match)
Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho for the IC Title (No Holds Barred)
Jeff Hardy vs. Edge for the WWE Championship (Ladder Match)
Christian vs. Tommy Dreamer for the ECW Championship (Extreme Rules)

Wow. I'm actually looking forward to those four matches for the PPV. On the other hand, I couldn't care less about the Orton/Batista cage match or the Show/Cena submission miatch.

For the first two weeks I didn't realize Zack Ryder's gimmick was supposed to be a Long Island guido. He got it firmly across this week with the music, and saying Bro 300 times mid match. Horrible new ring gear too, tights that are pants on one leg, trunks on the other.

It also sounded like the Hart Trilogy are using a sped up, more metal version of Bret Hart's music.

For some reason, I like his B&T gimmick. I don't think it's been done in wrestling before, although I could be wrong.

When did Tommy Dreamer become a factor in the ECW title picture? Well, I guess it beats Christian vs. Swagger for another time. I wonder how long they are going to let Christian hold the title?

I don't think it's something most people would get.

But if you're gonna do it, you shoulda rehired Romeo Roselli to do the Jersey Chach gimmick. Woulda been natural.

And if there's ever a time when a WWE-quality stereotype of a name was necessary, this is it. "Zach Ryder" ain't a guido name. I dunno, maybe something like "Louie Spicolli?"

;)

It seems like he's lifted straight out of that one youtube video (jager bombs!) with just a touch of Brian Christopher thrown in.

It's going to be kind of tough for him on ECW, off the top of my head, Christian, Finlay and Tommy Dreamer are the only faces. I bet we'll see lots of jobber matches for him over the next few weeks.

Zach Ryder? A jobber?

Well, no shit.

(I didn't watch ecw last night, so I have to dare ask - are they making ryder's character a face?)

DON'T SAY THAT DATE!!!!!!

Oh, and from a storyline standpoint, it's when his family was killed in the fire.

No Myke, they just had him squashing local wrestler #3242 , I guess they wanted to give Kozlov a break from doing that.

I remember Jimmy Jacobs wore something similar early in his ROH career, only in his case I think he was a face, and thus people were expected to cheer for him.

It's been an ongoing storyline for a few months now that they bring up every so often. If Dreamer doesn't win the title before his contract expires sometime next month, then he plans to retire.

It's about as captivating as it sounds.

I don't watch ECW much so I didn't know that. That is amazing how he is the only orginial ECW wrestler to still be in ECW.

For the sake of his legacy, I think it'd be best for Dreamer to just pack it in.

Even by his usual standards, Matt Striker was name-dropping like crazy last night. I didn't expect to hear Gotch, Saito, or World of Sports ever mentioned on WWE TV, but I do love it. Having him explain the history between Finlay and Davey Boy worked wonders at making the DHS-Finlay match seem important, and historic for European fans.

Quotes from the show -
Mathews - Zack Ryder tells me that since he’s cut his hair, he’s gotten 3,000 new Facebook friend requests!
Striker - I bet you were one of them, weren’t you?
Mathews - Yeah…
Striker - You’ve gotta be tough to wear ring attire like Zack Ryder.
Striker - Zack likes to wear his sunglasses indoors.
(after winning)Mathews - Whatever WOO WOO WOOO means, it’s effective!
Striker - Finlay has faced Davey Boy Smith on a program called World of Sport, and they developed a mutual respect. That feud is legendary and lore in England. David Hart Smith seems to be a bit more vicious than his father ever was.
Mathews - Smith and Kidd like to brag that they closed down the Hart Dungeon.
Striker - Who could follow them?
Striker - Smith honed his craft in Japan before coming to WWE.
Striker - Smith tells me that he can hold a neck bridge for 30 minutes. Of course, the record is 40 minutes held by Karl Gotch.
Striker - High and tight Saito Suplex from Smith. But I’m sure it was the shoe that did the damage…

This might be old news to some but the WM25 DVD/Blu does have alterations done. The entire Kid Rock performance is not on the home video release (thank god). However the use of whatever Kid Rock song during the Santina celebration is replaced with some generic rock song. Which would of been fine had the WWE also removed Cole making references to Rock's lyrics too.

Video/audio quality on the Blu is great. Video is MPEG-4 AVC at 1920x1080 running at an average of 20mbps. However my program isn't report if its 1080i or 1080p. Audio wise its Dolby Digital 5.1 runnning at 640kbps.

Demo Man, if they removed Kid Rock's performance, what do they show then for the divas match? If I remember correctly, they were walking down the aisle while he was performing.

The Diva's match is in its full. In order to hide up the removal of the Kid Rock performance they cut to a Fan Axxess promo put between MITB and the Diva's match. After the promo its cut to a far out shot of the ring just as the bell is being rung while the ring announcer is announcing the stips for the match.
I wonder why they did that. Not that I'm complaining or anything.
Royalties. I'd imagine that the cost was far too much to keep the Kid Rock performance on the home video release. But as you put it... not that we're complaining.

Also I just figured out how to get more detailed info on this Arcsoft program I'm using to watch the Blu-Ray on. It says the video is 1080i.

"costed"?

It's funny. I own every WM on DVD. Even bought the Euro "Tagged Classics" of WM1-6 in order to have unedited versions (i.e., they can say "WWF" and we can hear original entrance music). But for some reason I can't be bothered to buy this WM yet. I think I'll wait until I can score the BD for $10 or under.

Thanks for catching that myke. I'm not a very good proof reader for sure.

Speaking of "Tagged Classics" I have been tempted to pick up the WM ones that got released. I do have the WM1-14 VHS boxset which if I recall the "Tagged Classics" use the same master source that my VHS boxset uses. The only Mania I am missing right now is 15.

The Euro Tagged Classics definitely use the Coliseum Video material. There are some edits for brevity, though the only one I caught offhand was a really, really short edit of the already short Rick Martel/Koko B Ware opener from WMVI.

With all the edits on the Anthology DVDs, however, I'm willing to sacrifice a modicum of video quality to see the events as accurately as I remember them. I felt like I'd wasted every dollar of the price of the Anthology when I heard generic Demolition entrance music.

Region 2 PAL I believe for the WWF UK Tagged Classics. The WWE has brought the Tagged Classics series here to America with a number of early WWE era releases.

Just caught up on the denver/wwe stuff. This monday's Raw is gonna be a shitshow mcmahon circle jerk of monumental proportions. prepare to see a thirty minute segment centered around mocking and humiliating the owner of the Nuggets, a guy you've never heard of or cared about.

Vince McMahon: "I'm not a litigious kind of guy."

Man, I wish I wasn't broke. Raw and Smackdown at Staples Center next week...
Go to PWG Friday night in Reseda instead. $20 gets you four hours of some of the best indy tag teams in the US.

Yep... real class there Vince. Real class.

Vince McMahon beggars description. It sound like he was in the right, at least initially. Of course, his stubborn refusal to behave like a rational person and insatiable desire for publicity have made him out to be the one who is handling this poorly. As far as his comment about not being "litigious"...:bs:. The line of people who would speak against that would be quite lengthy. Just ask The Dudley Boyz Team 3D, for one.

The Martel/Koko match is one of my all time favorite Wrestlemania matches.

I don't follow current wrestling, but I was a fan "back in the day." I had been thinking of getting the DVDs of the original Wrestlemanias. I know they had to change to "WWE" (lame). What else is different?

I don't generally wish for bad things upon the WWE but I hope the masturbatory Monday Night celebration bombs. Like record-low ratings. It's the only thing that will potentially stop Vince's crazy-ass.

I want to hear about NBA headlines and scheduling conflicts about as much as I want my car to break down.
