Wario Ware

Played this game today, multiplayer - there have been some comments about wishing you could use more than 1 wiimote, but I think that's half the fun, scrambling to hand it off... perhaps it's just me! I did really like it though, I laughed the whole time.

Tonight we played my son's game (where we have the most progress). We unlocked the 2 upper minigames (by playing the Nunchuk games and the one that opens up after that - the calorie one ;)). Then we looked at the temple.

OK, we've played through the entire game and replayed many of the levels several times. We had FORTY-EIGHT microgames still LOCKED in the temple. So it appears it will take quite a bit of time to discover them all and unlock that last minigame. Plus we have a few other spots still empty (2 of those are the Elephants, but there's one or two more beyond that and the missing minigame).

So there is some "hidden" replayability. It is not as obvious as the GBA titles in that there are fewer unlockables and no "flowers" to earn, but it is there... Then there's the factor where my daughter wants to unlock the games in HER save file. So each family member can play through the game independently (which in my household, anyway, will add several hours of play to the game).

I don't know if I just got 'lucky' (or rather, unlucky), but in ~4 hours I had completed this game. I'm talking about every level unlocked, every minigame unlocked, every multiplayer unlocked. The only thing I haven't *totally* completed are the 'Pose Cards', which... well, they're pointless, as far as I can tell, because you can do nothing with them, at least compared to the 'toys' you got in Twisted that you'd play with for 5 seconds at least. Perhaps this is why there's so much debate over whether its short or not-- some of us get all the games in order, some people play 40 times over and still can't get that last game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying this game, but I totally agree with those who think it's too short compared to previous wariowares. It used to take me ages to complete them-- Even on a second playthrough on twisted it took me several hours (I'd say at least 6 hours, been playing in 2 hour batches over the last few days before this came out) to get nearly everything unlocked. It's still fun though.

For those who are at the point where I am, where there's really nothing left to unlock, and you're looking for a little more replayability, some of you might be interested in something I mentioned in the Wii Sports thread before-- Cyberscore.

It's a high score competition site. It's got smooth moves on there (as well as the previous wariowares and loads more), so you can compete for high scores in either the Character Levels, the minigames like Tower Tennis, and the various mixes. It's given me a little more inspiration to keep going back to it, at least. It's the only thing that's made me play since I completed it really, so hopefully someone else might find some use in it too.

We played another hour tonight (after the couple of hours the other day) and still have 27 or so microgames locked up ;). Who knows how long it will take to get the last few, as we don't really know which "story" they belong to. It is definitely going to push us over 10 hours just to get everything unlocked in single-player, and that's not a bad game length. (And again, that is all just on my son's game - my daughter wants to unlock everything herself and I have my own, neglected, Mii character as well).

vgamergirl - if you are still reading this thread, we arm wrestled you tonight ;).

OK, on the bathroom sorting boss battle: are the Miis there from your plaza or from the Mii parade or just randomly generated? With all the contorted faces they make it is really hard to tell . On that note, what I found interesting with WarioWare was the many ways they use the Miis - giving them different bodies and clothes and changing their expressions to show different emotions. Good stuff - really points the way to more interesting uses for them in other games (in addition to the obvious use in Animal Crossing, I could see some sort of RPG made using them ;)).

a lot of the minigames will only show up for the first time on level 2 or level 3, so you have to do pretty well on the higher levels to keep the minigames coming

I'm pretty sure it does take some off your Wii, I'm positive I saw General Zod running for the bathroom.

Definately, I arm wrestled J. Tucker from Family Guy...how can you tell? Because his face is upside down! LOL

Arm wrestling is always a Mii - it is the bathroom sorting boss battle that I was wondering about. It is hard to tell who they are because of their pained expressions and fast movement ;).

the bathroom game doesn't use your miis, or if it does, they are very rare. it's never used any of mine and i've played it prob 10-15 times

It has for me, I've seen Brittney (from Daria) show up as well as one of my upside down faced guys and a few random CAGers and friends. That being said, they are fairly hard to catch when they're bouncing around like mad and you're trying to figure out which one is gonna fall on their face first. :p

I've also had a few CAGers show up in the minigame where you pick the 'wierdo' out, but those are always my Miis anyhow.

The boss stage for one of the first single player minigame places... I can't remember if it's the one with the cheerleaders or the one with the turtles...

Thanks. I don't remember it but I haven't gone through the areas over yet.

I made a fucking bad mistake, I played this game for the first time for 20 mins. Now I want this damn game badly, and in my opinion it is a heck of a lot better than the ds game.
The gba wariowares were better than the ds one.
So is this the best Wii game besides Zelda?
well... I have this, zelda and elebits -and I'll have to say as of now I like elebits a bit better than this game. I've played through all of single and multi player - but haven't unlocked all of the microgames for every stage yet. I love me some can shooter though - damn I want some point blank wii goodness - but BUT this is coming from somebody who liked the DS version of warioware better than all of them - well I did like the original gba/gc one too.

Has anyone tried playing this game using Wiimotes from two different consoles? My friend brought his Wii and two controllers to a Super Bowl party yesterday, and I brought two of my remotes so we could have four player action. Synched the remotes to the console and everything was fine until we started Wario Ware, when all but the P1 controller lost the synch. We tried it three times before we finally gave up and popped in Wii Sports, where all four controllers worked flawlessly after they were synched.

In multiplayer only the 1st remote works. You have to pass it around.

Ah, that would explain it then. Thanks!
I can't beat 2994 on Bungie Buddies. Is there an end?
i think its just a time thing isnt it. dont remember, havent played it that much.

Finally went back tonight to unlock the last few microgames and get the last minigame (the bird one) as a result. Actually, it took us quite a bit of time to unlock every last microgame - several hours just in my son's game save. We still have the elephant levels to complete too. This game is still fun ;). We took a break from Wii Play to play this a bit.

man, that's cool you play games with your kids.. my dad thinks everything I do is a waste of time and wants nothin' to do with it

You know why this game is brilliant? The one second where you have to figure out the correlation between the instruction before the microgame ("drop"), how you're holding the remote, and what's on the screen.

Well, let's assume I'm not as old as your father .

Actually, though, my Mom, who is the last person I could ever see playing video games, got into Wii Sports a bit when she visited and played Tennis with the kids. That was a hoot.

The elephant rooms are where the fun/frustration is. They're a blast, but some of them are pretty challenging!
