Any CAGers around here? Really disappointed as the scene pales in comparison to Boston's video gaming scene. Any suggestions or local mom and pop shops? The Maryland-Virginia-DC area seems to be pretty weak.
I still might be taking the Metro shuttle, depending on traffic (I-66 is hell on earth). Either way, 7pm is fine. I might try to get there earlier, as I get paranoid about securing a good spot on the lawn.
I think chair peeps need to sit int the back.

As far as beverages go - I actually have a few bottles of hard cider (alcohol) if anyone is interested in me bringing them. Bought them for party on the 4th, but never drank them, and I doubt I will ever drink them. Only downside - I don't have a cooler.

I have a medium sized cooler filled with ice that I'm bringing. There will be room for more stuff.

Also, I just called and was told that canopy type things are not permitted. Only handheld umbrellas and they ask that they be held as low as possible. Also, it was recommended to me to bring a tarp for under the blanket.

Can we bring chairs to the PLAY concert?

I have no tarp, hopefully rain is a minimum. Otherwise, see ya guys at the lawn. I'm bringing my fiance, she doesn't even watch tv, all she knows is Mario Bros, Bejeweled and the PS1 game Crash Team Racing for some odd reason, she is gonna be lost.

Chairs are allowed, but they have to sit in the back 1/3rd of the lawn section. I guess if some of us are bringing chairs, that'll be easy to determine where we sit. Also, for those of you worried about the wet ground, they have these reclining ground cushions you can rent from Wolf Trap, which is what I plan on doing.

For anyone looking out for me through the sea of potential umbrellas, I'll be wearing my black guy-falling-through-space shirt.

I'm getting ready. Doubt I'll bring anything to drink. Plan to eat some KFC before hand. I don't plan to stay passed 11:30pm since I plan to work tomorrow morning.

To contact me, either send me a text message or direct message via Twitter (or if you know one of my gmails, email that). Any of those will alert my cell phone.
anyone making plans for a summer CAG meet-up? i remember some theme park talk a while back
I'm thinking of handling Crab Town in Glen Burnie, MD, but I need to re-assure certain arcade games are back up and running beforehand.

Next two weekends are shot for me but I'd be up for something in August. I've been missing a group to cookout with since I got to DC.

I wouldn't mind hosting a few peeps, but I live way out east in Annapolis. I think with the proper planning, I can get my basement (skanktuary) set up to host a few. Let me know if you guys are interested in coming this far out.
Over 21 only!

I picked up a PS Move (2 controllers), the camera, High Velocity Bowling, and Sports Champions off of Craigslist for $80. I planned on never buying this, but that's a great CAG deal.

Made a schedule for Otakon. Not much in all honesty that I HAVE to go, most things are flexible with what others want to see.

But here are my must see panels. (I have other panels of interest, but no big deal across the board)

Friday:
1:00PM Otaku and the Grim Reaper
6:30PM Mega Man: Made in Japan
9:30PM Fukushima Dai-ichi (no way I am missing this!)

Saturday:
2:00PM Let's Make Videogame Music
11:00PM Capcom Fanpanel

Sunday:
10:30PM FUNimation Sneal Peek
12:30PM Japan's IP Problem
1:00PM Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes

PS: not going to Distant Worlds, no interest in spending more than what must be spent, including the hotel with Mike and food and such.

Erick, you have like no industry panels? :p Here is my schedule of things I will not miss. There are others I am interested, but we'll see.

Friday:
3:00 - 4:30PM - Aniplex
6:00 - 7:30PM - Funimation
12:30 - 1:30AM - Let's Play Ero-ge!

Saturday:
4:30 - 5:30PM - CrunchyRoll
9:00 - 10:30PM - Bandai After Dark
12:30 - 1:30AM - MangaGamer

Sunday:
12:00 - 1:30PM - VIZ Media
Anyone going to Distant Worlds next Saturday in Baltimore? I'm going to try to go on top of Otakon. I LOVE Final Fantasy music TOO much.
I might be going but haven't decided yet.
I might be going but haven't decided yet.
I got my ticket.

My Otakon stuff:

Friday
11:30am - Johnny Yong Bosh (might visit since I'm dressed as Renton)
2pm - Nobuo Uematsu Q&A
3:30pm - Nobuo Uematsu Autograph (SO BADLY wish I could be at the Aniplex Panel, at 3pm, but things could change)
6pm - FUNimation Industry Panel
8pm - How to make a fight stick (maybe)
9:30pm - Tales of Otakonia

Saturday
9am - DURARARA!! Panel (maybe)
3pm - Makoto Shinkai Q&A (might catch a little with a co-worker)
4:30pm - Crunchyroll
7:30pm - Distant Worlds Concert (leaving Otakon at 6pm most likely and maybe catch the Light Rail there)
9pm - Bandai After Dark (I wish....maybe I'll catch part of it, but unlikely)
11pm - Capcom Fan Panel (if I return back to Otakon in time)

Sunday
12pm - VIZ Media Panel

The Mega Man Panel was awesome last year, but not skipping FUNimation for it. I BADLY want to see Aniplex, but Nobuo is my favorite. Sunrise and Bandai are also import, but FF Distant Worlds concert is bigger to me. Bold means its 100% guaranteed that is where I'll be at those times.

I paid $61 for my Distant Worlds ticket since there's no way I can miss. Final Fantasy is my favorite series and Nobuo is my favorite composer EVER. Almost all my ringtons are his music, haha.

Not sure what i'm doing at Otakon, used to rush to those Industry panels but now I could just as easily look up what was said on my phone a few hours later. Might try to make Bandai's just to ask what happened to the 0079 subtitle release they announced LAST Otakon .

Edit: Stan Lee coming to Baltimore comic con?! Damn i want his autograph before he kicks the bucket I gotta go now

I got my Otakon badge today. Already ran into 4 CAGs.

I'm dressing up as Renton Thurston tomorrow as a reminder.

Yeah I picked up my badge too , was only in line 15 minutes but traffic on 295 was backed up so I hung around a few hours until I got tired of wiping the sweat off my face

Think I bought about 5 bottles from him and talked to his wife for a bit, he must have sold out though because I didn't see him on Saturday

Either because he sold out or went to a different portion of Baltimore. I expect him to have lots of water next year.

Good luck with the Craigslist sale.

I've give up on Craigslist after 7+ years of selling items in the DC area. When you list a bunch of items and attempt to bundle them together you're bothered by replies like I'll take your 1 item for half of what your asking for and come meet me 45 minutes away. F that. CL is now used by very cheap people....even by CAG standards. Plus, the DC area isn't that far apart, but traffic makes traveling twice as difficult. Sorry, just my rant on CL.

So what are you selling?

I've gone to Baltimore Comic-Con twice now without buying one comic. I think tomorrow i'm just going to hit the 50 cent bins and go crazy.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I just got it in my email. This Saturday there is a huge event for "Double Victory" and they are also showing a sneak peek look at "Red Tails" (executive producer is George Lucas). Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Nate Parker, and David Oyelowo will be in attendance for a Q&A. Best of all, it is free! Hoping at least one CAG in the area is willing to go and take pictures. It seems really neat!

All the details can be found here: http://redtailsdc.eventbrite.com/

Just voted for you ManaKnight.

Is there a Moderator that can put the entire CAG community behind you and maybe front page this?

Just to let you guys know, the Borders in pentagon city is having a 50-70% going out of business sale. Kinda picked over but there is a TON of manga, a couple game guides and such. So if you are near check it out. If not, you can give me an author or whatever and I can take a peak for ya.

I wanted to make sure, it isn't the one in Springfield, VA? That one didn't have much when I was there.

nope, directly across from the pentagon fashion centre. The more popular authors were majorly picked over but when I was there, the manga section looked untouched. Looking for something in particular?

I was going to drive to Germantown, MD again for manga once since they had good stuff, but didn't last weekend due to the storm. I picked up good stuff in Timonium, ND. Regardless, it's more like I gotta look at the manga to make up my mind to see what I need. For sure I'm looking for Blue Exorcist which isn't Vol. 3 and Future Diary greater than vol. 8. But at the same time, I NEED to stop spending money (after buying tons of anime and preordering pricey video games like the $120 bundle for Disagaea 4).

Aw man, was there last weekend (on vacation from nyc) when it was just 40%. Would LOVE to go back now. I picked up a batman graphic novel for cheap when I was there but you're right they had a ton of manga. I'm going to miss that Borders too I always went there while on vacation.

I'm going to miss Borders too. Many memories from the store from buying manga there, textbooks for college at my college location, buying OPM there for a demo disc, etc.

I pretty much cleared Columbia, MD location of everything I want. Annapolis, MD didn't have much special. Columbia Mall location has next to nothing left. Silver Spring, MD was a mess. Springfield, VA had very little even at 20% off. Germantown, MD and Timonium, MD were the two best I went to the last time I was at both.
