Just brining this over from the last thread since it was one of the last posts... didn't want it to get overlooked by the interested party.

Oh and to Frost (or whoknows? whoever was talking about playing Marvel) I would recommend that you don't continue to pick the Street Fighter characters. Pretty much all of them are terrible (the only ones I would even consider mediocre are Cammy, Dhalsim and Guile. The best of that bunch is probably 'Sim, but he is super hard to use). I recommend starting with a character that is easy to pick up but has a very high upside. A few characters that fit the bill...
- Cable (obviously)
- Rogue
- Storm (highly recommended, she is very user-friendly and has a very high ceiling)
- Sentinel (fantastic character and not TOO hard to at least be semi-effective with)
- Captain Commando (will be used primarily as an assist, but isn't terrible to play as)
- Cyclops (same deal as CapCom)
- Iron Man
- Juggernaut (awesome assist)
The next thing you need to learn is basic bread and butter combos. I know you had mentioned that you just learned about the standard string (lp, lk, lp, lk variations) so try using that to go into your characters launch. For example, with CapCom you might try wp, wk, hk (launch) and then jump up and combo them. If you are unfamiliar with air juggles, you can always end that combo with a Captain Corridon (QCB+B) or Captain Sword (QCF+PP, takes 1 super bar). Some other basic combos are things like wp, wp -> Juggernaut Headcrush. I wouldn't recommend trying to learn advanced juggles and stuff like that yet, just find reliable ways to connect your supers. Some other basic combos to get an idea of what I'm talking about...
- Iron Man: crouching wk, wk, wk (on the ground), wp -> Proton Cannon (this combo won't work if the opponent techs, but it is good for getting the timing of combos and looks pretty sweet. You'll feel like you accomplished something when you pull this off.)
- Cyclops: hk, hk -> Cyclone Kick (HCB+K -> Directional Optic Blast (QCF+KK)
If you would like some basic combos for other characters, feel free to ask. If you want to try some basic juggling, try something like (in air) wp, wk, wp, hk or wp, wk, wp, special move. Once you get the timing down you will be able to do more advanced stuff.
The last thing you need to do is choose a good assist. I recommend a basic team set-up of
- Attacker 1 (doesn't need to rely on supers to succeed, someone like Magneto, Rogue, Iron Man, Sentinel. )
- Attacker 2 (can take advantage of lots of supers, someone like Cable or Storm)
- Assister (CapCom Anti-Air, Cyclops Anti-Air, Psylocke Anti-Air, Blackheart Anti-Air... see a pattern

)
I guess I'll stop now, just remember the most important thing you can do is play good defense, guard push at the right times (PP when blocking) and generally get the most damage you can when you land a series of moves. It doesn't need to be a fancy combo or infinite, just make sure you are consistently getting good damage. That is something most newer fighting game players don't seem to realize. Strategy is 10 times more important than ability to manipulate the controls.
Feel free to ask questions. If you have it on XBLA I'll be happy to play some rounds with you and show you some basics.[/QUOTE]
