We should take GGT#50 AND PUSH IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Did anyone pick up any of the new releases from today? Fable 3, SW: TFU2, RB3?
Fable - Never.
TFU2 - Not at $60.
RB3 - Never.
Fable - Never.

I would've grabbed RB3 to play with my gf, but (1) neither of us really dig much of the setlist and (2) i don't feel like shelling out for a keyboard and "pro guitar" so I can learn... that's the only way I'd buy the game and the lack of music I'd want to learn combined with cost add up to "no sale".
Did anyone pick up any of the new releases from today? Fable 3, SW: TFU2, RB3?
I picked up the Limited Edition of Fable III. It's a pretty cool set, but I won't be able to play it until tomorrow.

I'll probably pick up Rock Band 3 when it gets cheap. I don't want to get it now though since there are only 2 songs in it that I really want to play (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots pt. 1 and Space Oddity).
I'm getting Fable 3 from Gamefly tomorrow, I won't be getting TFU2 for awhile, and I'll be getting RB3 this Christmas. I love RB.
My next new game will probably come from Black Friday sale -- hoping BB or RE5 get put on sale... :whistle2:#

I'm enjoying Fable so far, but my pre-order bonuses aren't showing up in game for some reason, but the stuff from the code in the box does.
Y'all saw the Playstation Phone news, right?
If it comes to Verizon, I'd be tempted to upgrade to it just for shits 'n' giggles. Been wanting a Droid of some sort anyway.

You don't want any droid on verizon -- it's usually outdated and garbage within 2 weeks.
If you do want one, get something old and cheap that you can hack and won't require a contract, like an original Moto Droid or HTC Eris.
You don't want any droid on verizon -- it's usually outdated and garbage within 2 weeks.
That's actually one reason why I don't have one yet.

The other reason is $30 a month data plans. :puke:

I like the idea of an Android Sony phone with emphasis on gaming like that.... but I'm still leaning towards Win 7 phone next month.

New customers will be forced to tiered data. I think there's $15 and $30.

I was waiting on a good deal on RE5, too, but I just ended up biting on the CE when it was 20 at Sears a couple of weeks ago since I already had all the DLC from when it was on sale.

I think those are the prices for their tiered data plans. I haven't even upgraded my current phone because it seems no matter what I get, I'd have at least a $10 a month data plan forced on me.

Buncha greedy bastards. I'll probably end up sitting on my Env3 until it croaks.

Why WP7?

:whistle2:#

Read that whole review, and all I saw was a great iPhone competitor, the original 2007 iPhone.

WP7 has potential, and I can't wait to(hopefully) try it out at the MS Store opening in a few days. But it's a few updates away from being at the level of iOS, Android or Palm.

You can't even use your own ringtones..

The phone race is still evolving. All that will come in time. It's nice to see the competition heating up--I just hope it results in lower prices all around. :p

So it seems My xbox only overheats after doing a couple of 'revert to last save' actions in halo reach campaign in a short-ish amount of time. Weird.

The gamefly sale is tempting, but I gotta resist since My backlog is starting to grow again after shrinking it to a reasonable amount.

It does the 3 things I use my current phone for the most with really well (if not better)

1. Internet browsing
2. Maps
3. Music
(oh yeah, and phone calls)

I'll be missing a few apps I use often (mint, pandora, etc), yeah since it's a brand new platform, but I'm sure it will grow just fine.
As for ringtones, my phone is on vibrate 95% of the time anyway, doesn't matter to me.

I just really want something fresh, iOS is getting stale, and Android is too similar.
And Palm... lol.

I like the look of dat potential PSPhone, but...

3DS:

-3D without glasses
-Successor to the best handheld of this gen
-Already has a lot of announced games that could be great
-Virtual Console

versus

PSPhone

-Probably download-only games
-Probably overpriced
-Probably some sort of contract plan you'll be roped into
-PSP kind of ended up sucking

I mean yeah most of those are probablys, but I'd say they're all pretty likely.

I'd back over my DS with my car if I could somehow play the GoW PSP games and shit like UGnG on it. :\
I picked up Fable 3 with the amazon credit. I'll start it up later tonight.
Let me know how it is! Im debating picking that up, but I went with SW: FUII for now since I got such a good deal on it. I still want to pick up Fable 3 if it's worth playing, but I'd rather save my money for the deal on Vanquish next week. You and I have almost identical tastes in games, so I figure if you find Fable 3 enjoyable, I'll almost certainly like it as well.

I wish they had chosen a different dog then a Boxer for the game though >.>

The PS branded SonyEricsson phone I don't think will be anything special.
At best it will play PS1 games and some special "Sony IP" games.
Gaming on Android phones is pretty weak anyway.
This phone has the same weak innards.

The WP7 browsing experience sounds like it sucks dick. IE7=stinky garbage.

And Palm has something good in WebOS, it just can't make hardware for jack.

I thought you read the review....
He said web browsing was great after spending a week throwing everything he could at it. As good as iOS, and certainly better than Android as far as speed and responsiveness.
Not the only review to put it on par with Mobile Safari either.

This was the deal or no deal part of the phone for me since it's the number one thing I use on it. So I'm glad to read that it works extremely well.

Mobile Safari sucked dick, so the comparison manthing made is probably true.

It's been awesome 3.1.3 and later, quite stable and reliable now.
Before that it did indeed crash more than it should have and was sometimes a pain because of it.

On my lady friend's iPhone 4. It's a dream. But probably because of dat screen.

Maybe there was never a difference to begin with.

dallowmang that game looks sorta rad?

I think I might download RE2 for some Halloween gaming. Or maybe just finally play my copy of REmake.

That game does look rad.

Beef -- when you up for some more DR2?

--

I forgot again -- which is it that I want to order from gohastings? used or previously viewed? used, right?

Just brining this over from the last thread since it was one of the last posts... didn't want it to get overlooked by the interested party.

Oh and to Frost (or whoknows? whoever was talking about playing Marvel) I would recommend that you don't continue to pick the Street Fighter characters. Pretty much all of them are terrible (the only ones I would even consider mediocre are Cammy, Dhalsim and Guile. The best of that bunch is probably 'Sim, but he is super hard to use). I recommend starting with a character that is easy to pick up but has a very high upside. A few characters that fit the bill...

- Cable (obviously)
- Rogue
- Storm (highly recommended, she is very user-friendly and has a very high ceiling)
- Sentinel (fantastic character and not TOO hard to at least be semi-effective with)
- Captain Commando (will be used primarily as an assist, but isn't terrible to play as)
- Cyclops (same deal as CapCom)
- Iron Man
- Juggernaut (awesome assist)

The next thing you need to learn is basic bread and butter combos. I know you had mentioned that you just learned about the standard string (lp, lk, lp, lk variations) so try using that to go into your characters launch. For example, with CapCom you might try wp, wk, hk (launch) and then jump up and combo them. If you are unfamiliar with air juggles, you can always end that combo with a Captain Corridon (QCB+B) or Captain Sword (QCF+PP, takes 1 super bar). Some other basic combos are things like wp, wp -> Juggernaut Headcrush. I wouldn't recommend trying to learn advanced juggles and stuff like that yet, just find reliable ways to connect your supers. Some other basic combos to get an idea of what I'm talking about...

- Iron Man: crouching wk, wk, wk (on the ground), wp -> Proton Cannon (this combo won't work if the opponent techs, but it is good for getting the timing of combos and looks pretty sweet. You'll feel like you accomplished something when you pull this off.)
- Cyclops: hk, hk -> Cyclone Kick (HCB+K -> Directional Optic Blast (QCF+KK)

If you would like some basic combos for other characters, feel free to ask. If you want to try some basic juggling, try something like (in air) wp, wk, wp, hk or wp, wk, wp, special move. Once you get the timing down you will be able to do more advanced stuff.

The last thing you need to do is choose a good assist. I recommend a basic team set-up of

- Attacker 1 (doesn't need to rely on supers to succeed, someone like Magneto, Rogue, Iron Man, Sentinel. )
- Attacker 2 (can take advantage of lots of supers, someone like Cable or Storm)
- Assister (CapCom Anti-Air, Cyclops Anti-Air, Psylocke Anti-Air, Blackheart Anti-Air... see a pattern )

I guess I'll stop now, just remember the most important thing you can do is play good defense, guard push at the right times (PP when blocking) and generally get the most damage you can when you land a series of moves. It doesn't need to be a fancy combo or infinite, just make sure you are consistently getting good damage. That is something most newer fighting game players don't seem to realize. Strategy is 10 times more important than ability to manipulate the controls.

Feel free to ask questions. If you have it on XBLA I'll be happy to play some rounds with you and show you some basics.
Thanks for the write up, Jimbo -- just need to figure out who to use... Probably CapCom/Blackheart | Cable/Storm | Iron Man/Magneto.

Can you use Strider with people other than Doom for zoning?

--

So who in the GGT has RE5 Gold for PS3?

Strider is playable with other characters, but his zoning / trap aren't really effective if you aren't getting chip damage out of it (where Doom's rocks come in). He also requires AWESOME execution to use effectively. I wouldn't recommend Strider unless you are just messing around and trying out combos (which he is very fun for). The teleporting and crazy number of cancels is just so difficult.

To give you an idea of what a great Strider looks like...
Do you like it? Would you like to play sometime? :p
I thought RE5 was a steaming pile of shit. ^_^

Do you mean co-op on the main story or just the mercenaries mode?
