Thx for the heads up.
i didnt know about the gun up there. I had been trying to just lead him around the room where the body is, but he shoots that fucking gun as soon as he comes out of the door and strawberry jam is everywhere and he just runs to me and stomps on me. Yeah, I knew the reg guns would work on him but without beer it seems like it'll take forever.
I'll try it in a sec.

Edit: success. Enforcer gun knocked half his life off and I barely made it by, but it worked. :D
I think I just ended up in the center revolving around a piece of furniture, popping out to hit him with the shotgun, and strafing in the circle around the object until my ego recharged... i found the enforcer gun AFTER i killed him... d'oh.
I also think I unloaded every explosive I had on him, just like I did on that cocksucker on top of the dam.

I still can't believe that over-the-top SR3 video has anyone excited... well, LP doesn't surprise me, but anyone else...

I kept trying to do that but the enforcer gun would just wreeeeck me. I was having s harder time with him than the dude on the Dam.

The guy on the dam was only a bitch once his health was drained once and you did the QTE. After that, his rage-ahol mode was a bitch... dropping 8 explosives at his feet worked pretty good -- I only had to get 1 ammo refill after that...

I guess I was just getting lucky at having the object i was using block the enforcer missles -- either that or he was having trouble seeing me and aiming.

That was my exact solution. And Saints Row 3 looks like tons of fun. Second one was one of my favorite open world games.

Just 8 more hours tonight and then the weekend off. Tuesday off as well. Hopefully I can spend another few hours reading 100 pages of my book like last night. Even got to leave an hour early. More time for Dragon Age.

So true

While I did have fun stealing a tank once or twice in the PS2 GTA games, these are just too over the top ridiculous to be interesting to me. Sometimes the rampage missions were good in GTA3, but I wouldn't want to play a whole game of them. And it looks like they brought back that stupid respect mechanic. Definitely not interested, but I've always had bold opinions according to some of the OTT. ;)
That game looks corny as fuck.
This.
That game looks corny as fuck.
That's like saying "That orange looks orange". It's fucking Saint's Row for fucks sake.
That's like saying "That orange looks orange". It's fucking Saint's Row for fucks sake.
That's not quite true -- the first Saints Row game was a little corny -- but it was a more arcade-y next-gen GTA, sort of like a sequel to San Andreas with a playful twist of absurdity. SR2 wasn't content with being a sequel, it poured it on even harder and since people ate it up, the third game is like a straight injection of it. I had fun in Saints Row, but I really wish the second game had changed things up a bit differently -- it diverged from the original in ways I didn't like. The third game seems to be taking it further down that path.
Did you go to :baby: mode, frosty?

This little dog my neighbors have had in their back yard for the last day is killing me. It yaps continually at a very high pitch, almost like it's crying. I want to go buy some sleeping pills and feed it to the damn thing.
You can safely feed it 1mg/lb of Benadryl. If the dog is the size of a small Beagle, that means give it 1 tablet. A daschund, give it half a tablet. That shit should be out cold for 4-6 hours and wake up sedate.

I know in the past I've sucked on Saints Row dick pretty hard, but even I have to admit, this series is just getting way too wacky for its own good. There should be a balance of seriousness and humor.

I don't know, I like the direction. GTA4 was pretty fucking boring a lot of the time just because I was taxiing around some random fuckers. I like the feeling of "fuck logic, do whatever". Probably why I also liked Just Cause 2 more than 1, and thoroughly enjoyed Prototype. It's nice to not deal with "constraints" and just hit someone with a dildo for the fuck of it.

I actually am about to start GTA4 for the third time. While there were some slow parts, the overall game experience is one of the best this generation. Both Episodes are flat out fantastic.

I tried Saint's Row 2 and quit about an hour into it because of how over the top and corny that shit was.

Driving the cars still kills me.
Driving the cars still kills me.
Maybe it is because I have put so much time into the game, but I never understood the complaints about the cars. I absolutely love how all the cars drive differently and how they actually drive like real cars. They feel like they have a real weight and you actually have to account for how you drive to succeed in missions where you need to evade the police or win a race.
I just ran back and forth between the ammo boxes firing the enforcer gun. Way too easy. Fighting the

That was where I had issues. I somehow didn't notice the hideaway spot in the corner. Then the fucker destroys it. I knock him down, thought he was dead, then his health bar regenerated. Oh I was pissed until I realized how easy the second part was.

It just takes time to learn how to drive in the game... while I'm not a huge fan of it still, it's part of the game and I can appreciate it. It was much easier when I played through the second time on PS3 instead of 360...

He's still a doucherocket on hard when one of your guns is the golden pistol and you're trying to deal with the bullshit of the regular octabrains in the meantime.
Looks gooood. I fuckin love hot sauce. It's even part of my walk out song in EA MMA
Ever tried Black Mamba? That shit is INSANE. It made me turn 6 shades of red and cry. But it was so good I ate more. My friend Kobi is a chocolatier and made Black Mamba chocolates. Sickest shit ever. He just ordered more. I can't wait.

I had the pistol through my entire playthrough as well. I like how you guys are talking as if I didn't.

Heyyyy remember when I said that when the game first came out and everyone shat on me? Guess it's ok to say now that everyone's hype boners have subsided.

Posting this using CHoP's free wireless!

Three days into Number84's surgery and it's going better than expected. They might send him home two days early...The kid is like Wolverine!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

I'm going to write a blog and include pics the doctor was nice enough to take during the surgery...pretty graphic.

I am so excited for SR3. Is it more ridiculous, over the top, and far fetched than the first two? Yeah, but I'd take that any day over using the exact same formula as the other games over and over and over. I have always had more fun playing SR than GTA and I don't think that will change.

After I finish Link's Awakening I'm going to start OoT on the 3DS. I've never played OoT before. Here's hoping I don't suck.

Since everyone's talking about I'll ask what's been worrying me:

I really REALLY disliked Bayonetta (granted, it was mostly the main character though the gameplay irked me too). Is there any chance I'd still like Vanquish? Reason I've avoided it is because it just seemed like Bayonetta with guns.

Had a yard sale with a friend today. I did pretty good. Got around $150 just selling xbox1 and ps2 games and dvds. I probably would've been lucky to get $50 for everything at Gamestop. And I have a bunch of stuff left over and some more stuff sitting around here so I think we're gonna do it again next weekend. Plus I bought Battlefield 2 from my buddy for $2. Not too shabby.
I'm now officially further in Vanquish than I ever made it before. Mak, did you get your failure breeds success trophy?
Nah ended up not bothering cause I thought it would be too tough. But then I ended up destroying those bad boys right away anyway since my weapons are so much more powerful than the first time I encountered them. Maybe I'll go back and give it a go when I'm done. I think they have mission selects so it shouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: Oh and I saw Hangover 2. Pretty bad. It had some funny moments
I was loling hard during the part where the Thai ladyboy was talking about her and Stu climaxing together and dropping loads and such
but overall it was pretty boring and was exactly the same as the first one but without the charm.

Vanquish is to Gears of War what Bayonetta is to the DMC games. I find a lot of the game to be a love letter to the original MGS as well, between the main character and the military lieutenant squad leader, you can see some Gears in there too (the military guy is like a gears dude with bionic body parts). There was a demo on both PS3/360, I think, so you should be able to download and try out the game play. It's a really polished third person cover-based shooter with elements of games like the club that emphasize timed runs and point totals. The only thing Bayonetta is the fact the suit goes slow-mo, sort of like witch-time -- and the over the top john-woo type shooting at points. I love the game.

Some people knock Vanquish for the cheesy/serious-in-a-campy way story, but you can mostly ignore it if you don't care. The gameplay is top notch -- I remember the demo area is maybe section 1-1 through 1-3 and it's a good approximation of the gameplay.

If you're playing on hard, don't chapter select until you finish it -- I've read that fucks up the trophies for beating it on the hard difficulty level.
And yes, it was a pain in the ass, even with a maxed out AR and the download weapon laser cannon, what a fuckin' pain. But if you can manage to take out one, it will checkpoint so you can do the other without worrying about it.
The $2 for the weapon pack is totally worth it -- between the laser cannon, which uses your suit's power for ammo (so it's great for a combination of power/aim and allows you to focus on upgrading the other weapons you're carrying) and the anti-armor pistol, which is good if you like using handguns in games like this... I'm not a huge fan of the third weapon, the boost machine gun... but for $1.99 or whatever I paid, it was worth it for the other two.

I accidentally kicked a chair while eating a stuffed potato and nearly choked while simultaneously smashing my pinkie toe to bits. It looks like some sort of discolored vienna sausage.

I'll have to check out the demo at one point. Game seemed interesting but seemed a little too "fast for the sake of being fast, who needs to see what's going on" for its own good.

The demo is ok (it was good enough to pique my curiosity at least) but honestly they've picked one of my least favorite parts of the game. Its very chaotic and jumbled/tight at that area and you fight a boss who at that point you're very weak against.

As far as I know its nothing like Bayonetta. The best thing I could compare it to is Gears of War but you're way faster and more mobile and fluid. What I love about it is that its Japanese but in a really good way. Normally I just flat out hate Japanese games because they're archaic. But this has that quirky Japanese flair and unique style AND they've combined that with solid western game design. It has a story you can actually follow, it has a good save & check point system, its a little tough but fair, it has good graphics, good dialogue and v.o. work, etc.

Hmm I had no idea there was dlc for this. I might have to check that out.

Just curious - do you guys think if I made a thread in the trading forum if anyone would bite on a trade of Black Ops, Crysis 2, or Metro 2033 for Bulletstorm? Does it sound fair at least?

I would kill for some sort of certified one-click buy it now used car experience. And it would need to have like a one week return no questions asked thing.

(Of course then people would end up using it as a free rental service unless there was a re-stocking fee invovled)

So do not want to deal with the vultures on the lots. And I know I'm going to get screwed over, it's just a question of how much.

Bulletstorm retails for like 29.99 these days, so probably not on Black Ops or Crysis 2 -- maybe Metro 2033.

I just finished section 3-2 in Vanquish, Mak. Probably done for the day.
