What was the last CD you bought? - The Sequel

Portishead - Portishead
Autechre - Incunabula
David Bowie - Heroes
Sasha and Digweed - Northern Exposure: Expeditions

Finally found Expeditions here in town at a routine stop at Cheapo. :D
What do you think of the new Coldplay album? How does it compare to their others?
I know you asked him, but here are my initial thoughts.

DAMN. Its great.
I haven't given all the tracks thorough listens yet, but Yes, Strawberry Swing, Life in Technicolor and Lost! are awesome, as are Viva La Vida! and Violet Hill.

My favourite is X&Y, followed by A Rush of Blood to the Head, but I haven't listened to Viva La Vida or Death and all his friends enough to rank it yet.

Haven't listened yet but I'll let ya know!
It isn't you, Flobots suck. I saw them on Conan and wanted to puke in disgust and rage.
You think that because they are a refreshing rap group that can speak about political issues? Listen to their lyrics, don't crucify a band without giving proper reason.

Wow, when did Tower's prices get so low? I had to stop myself for a minute there and make sure these weren't digital download prices. And they now offer free shipping on $25+ orders? There are some great deals to be found!
All for $25 shipped, new. (

Not a bad website. They've got a couple things I've been looking for. I'll wait until I have $25+ worht of stuff, though, to sweeten the deal.

Mono & World's End Girlfriend - Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

Both on vinyl.

Look at me, look at me
hands in the air like it's good to be
ALIVE
and I'm a famous rapper
even when the paths're all crookedy
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to "De Colores"
And "I'm Proud to be an American"
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want cuz, look:

I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome

I can see your face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone

Look at me
Look at me
Just called to say that it's good to be
ALIVE
In such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule

Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let'em all die in exasperation
Have'em all grilled leavin lacerations
Have'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like'em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust

Stand up
We shall not be moved
Except By a child with no socks and shoes
If you've got more to give then you've got to prove
Put your hands up and I'll copy you
Stand up We shall not be moved
Except by a woman dying from a loss of food
If you've got more to give then you've got to prove
Put your hands up and I'll copy you

We still don't understand thunder and lightning
Flash back to when we didn't fund the dam
Didn't fund the dam levee? No wonder man
Now our whole damn city's torn asunder man
Under water but we still don't understand
We see hurricane spills overrun the land
Through gaps you couldn't fill with a 100 tons of sand
No we still don't understand
We've seen planes in the windows of buildings crumbled in
We've seen flames send the chills through London
And we've sent planes to kill them and some of them were children
But still we crumbling the building
Underfunded but we still don't understand
Under God but we kill like the son of Sam
But if you feel like I feel like about the son of man
We will overcome

So Stand up
We shall not be moved
Except By a child with no socks and shoes
If you've got more to give then you've got to prove
Put your hands up and I'll copy you
Stand up We shall not be moved
Except by a woman dying from a loss of food
If you've got more to give then you've got to prove
Put your hands up and I'll copy you

I said Put your hands up and I'll copy you
Put your hands up and I'll copy you
If you've got more to give then you've got to prove
Put your hands up and I'll copy you

We shall not be moved
Except By a child with no socks and shoes
Except by a woman dying from a loss of food
Except by a freedom fighter bleeding on a cross for you
We shall not be moved
Except by a system thats rotten through
Neglecting the victims and ordering the cops to shoot
High treason now we need to prosecute

So Stand up
We shall not be moved
And we won't fight a war for fossil fuel
Its times like this that you want to plot a coup
Put your hands up and I'll copy you
So Stand up
We shall not be moved
Unless were taking a route we have not pursued
So if you've got a dream and a lot to do
Put your hands up and I'll copy you

I've got to write out a list but mom picked up a huge stack of vinyl from a rummage sale for $15. Looks like there are about 60 or so 45s. Just quickly looking through it, there is some Stax records that I've never seen before and there are a couple of records from Bradford (local highschool) Choir. Also, who ever she bought them from must have been huge fans of The 5th Dimension and Bones Howe.

edit:

Well, I've got to do some research on a few records but I've found two records that made the purchase so worth it.

Buffalo Springfield's Again album. Everything is mint about it. I'm not a Neil Young fan but its a nice looking record. Plus it doesn't hurt that I can get about $50-60 for it.

A Christmas Gift For You From Philles Records. Its got The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love and Bob B Soxx And The Blue Jeans on it singing christmas songs. I would grade it about VG. Decent record and its produced and put out by Phil Spector's label. I might keep this one but if I wanted to, I could flip it for about $70.

Also some cool off the wall soul (would be classified as northern soul nowadays) records, like stuff from The Maudes. Sad part is the stuff that I want to listen to, they're pretty dirty so I've got to clean them

I love the metaphor, comparing a kid riding a bicycle to running the fuckin' country. Genius.

If this shit nowadays in rap is considered, in-depth lyrics....it's really sunk lower than I could ever imagine.

You aren't helping your case. In fact, that proved my point. You know what else I can ride with no handle bars? You guessed it, your mother. Yo' mama jokes are more creative and in-depth than that trash.

I am buying new Crue in a matter of hours! I can't wait.

Are we making fun of each other's taste in music now?

I'm no fan of the Flobots but your argument against them loses all credibility when, in the same post, you confess excitement for a hair metal band.

I'm just sayin'.

I've been meaning to pick up the EP, but I haven't got around to it yet. I dig the Get Stoked record though - it's got a few fun singalongs, and it's ridiculously catchy. They're a guilty pleasure.

I grabbed the Fireworks "We Are Everywhere" EP and This Time Next Year "A Place For You" & "The Longest Way Home" EP's as well. You can pick those up at the Set Your Goals tent on Warped Tour in case you can't find them in stores, or get them online. More fun stuff.
