What was the last CD you bought? - The Sequel

The Wicked Soundtrack by Al Jourgensen
Arch Enemy - Anthems of Rebellion
Between the Buried and Me - The Anatomy Of
The Haunted - The Dead Eye
KMFDM - Money (Digitally Remastered, now I got two copies of the album)
Mantic Ritual - Executioner
Opeth - Morning Rise
Revolting Cocks - Sex-O Olympic-O
Revolting Cocks - Big Sexy Land

I Think I'm gonna take a break from buying new music for a bit...

I got the Plastic Beach special edition the day it came out.

And then yesterday I picked up the Beatles in Mono remastered box set. Beautiful package and the albums sound amazing, although my wallet is hurting a bit

Screaming Blue Messiahs- Gun Shy
Screaming Blue Messiahs- Bikini Red

These have been out of print forever. I had no idea they were back in print until I saw them on Amazon the other night. Ordered them right away; now I'm just waiting for the UPS guy to deliver them today.

Slayer - Christ Illusion in 2006 was the last cd I bought..

most music IMO has deteriorated to or become parody of some original, that I no longer buy or really listen to anything other than whatever the local Classic Rock station is playing on my way to work. Besides Slayer seems every band I like has gotten clean and sober and want to sing about it, or have a political agenda across the entire album.... (Thinking Dave Mustaine on both accounts for example). Also here in South Carolina many music stores cater to one selling brand of music usually Rap Crap, Tween Crap or Country Crap...if any one remembers the Old Manifest when it was Punk/Alternative and Metal (Real metal, no popular GOTH copy Venom/King Diamond/Slayer/Cooper ripoff)...don't get me wrong there are good bands like Arch Enemy and Stampede Queen that have come along

Yesterday I got:

Suicide Silence - No Time to Bleed (maximum bloodshed edition)
Carnifex - Hell Chose Me
Carnifex - The Diseased and the Poisoned

Went on a bit of a shopping spree today.

Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes (LP)
Jonsi - Go (LP)
Pavement - Terror Twilight (LP)
Pavement - Watery, Domestic (LP)
Pavement - Wowee Zowee (LP)
Pavement - Brighten The Corners (LP)
Mogwai - Batcat (LP)
Human Highway - Moody Motorcycle
Spiral Stairs - The Real Feel (LP)
Built To Spill - Keep it Like a Secret (LP)

I would have bought the rest of Pavement's albums, but the record store was out of them.

I'm addicted to the new Flobots Album "Survival Story". I'm usually not a big fan of rap, but for some reason this band has always attracted me. Same with the Beastie Boys.

Jonsi - GO, the sigur ros lead man's solo album that is a bit too happy... he is much better with the dark, melancholy, ambient band of sigur ros.

Nice. Solid pick-up with Alien Lanes -- I'd really like to get that for myself, since I've been listening to it a lot lately. That's the Matador reissue, right? Is that on 180g, or is it just your standard repress? What I really want, though, is Bee Thousand on vinyl (and I really really really want a copy of the Bob Pollard Director's Cut of Bee Thousand, but I'm guessing that that's going to be damn-near impossible to track down).

I'd get the other Pavement LPs I don't own, but I'm kind of hoping that they press up the deluxe reissues (Luxe & Reduxe, LA's Desert Origins, etc.) like they did with Nicene Creedence Edition. I did buy Watery, Domestic, though, and I have Quarantine The Past, and I'm getting the RSD version of Quarantine The Past on Saturday.

Oh, I guess I should contribute to the thread... uh, let's see. Most recently I've gotten:

Radiohead - Kid A (2x10")
British Sea Power - Open Season (LP)

...and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember right now.

Alien Lanes is the Matador repress on 180g vinyl. I got really lucky and found a sealed copy in the discount section for $8.

What's on the RSD release of Quarantine The Past?

Recent pick up,

Broken Bells - Broken Bells (CD + Vinyl)

Record store was having a promotion where you got the vinyl for free if you bought the CD, so I got both for a total of $12.

I just picked up these 2 yesterday:

Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings- I Learned the Hard Way
La Roux- Self-titled (You otherwise might recognize them as the people whose song "In for the kill" was in the Bayonetta commercials haha)
FYI for the collectors here:
All vinyl will be 20% off at Hot Topic stores on Record Store Day.
Does this work on clearance vinyl too? If so, all their Smiths vinyl is already at $9.98...

You'd most likely have to wait for a clearance promo for that. I'll check today to make sure, though.

I picked all of those up when they first got marked down. $3.99 each with my employee discount! :)
Is there a way to find Hot Topic stores with better vinyl selection? The one by me had like 2 or 3 albums to choose from.
Typically only large-square-footage stores get the big music shop. Where in NJ are you? I should be able to find out whose got the best selection near you.

I don't think I've ever seen a large HT. I'm in Somerset county, and the one I checked was in the Bridgewater mall. The store in Freehold is also semi-convenient to me, but I don't think that one's any bigger.

When's the next 50% off clearance sale?

Coheed and Cambria - Year of the Black Rainbow X3

Ordered the deluxe edition a couple months ago then they came for a signing at a nearby record store. We had to preorder to get in so we ordered the basic CD and the vinyl. So I bought the album 3 times. Oh Coheed, you get me every time.

MGMT - Congratulations

I asked the DM for that area and she says that the Woodbridge Mall has the best vinyl selection. Is that near you?

They typically sync up with holiday weekends. I don't have any concrete info but I'd guess that the next one will be in late May for Memorial Day.

Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line

And for my wife:
She & Him - Volume Two

How appropriate. On a side note, that record is very good -- by a wide, wide margin, my favorite of theirs.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor- Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Hey, that reminds me: I ordered this record back in JANUARY and I never got it! Oh, there's going to be a lot of fist-shaking when I pick up my RSD order on Saturday!

Kind of. It's in between my house and my parents house, so I'll get there someday. Thanks!

I need to start buying again. I think I'll finish my Morrissey single collection, I have most of the promos and rarities, really just need the official releases now.

Hey, good pick on Sharon Jones.
She's a really cool lady. We had an instore performance with her and she was probably the best we had as far as actually engaging wih people.
I miss working at a record store.

A record store in Dallas? Which one? There aren't that many in Dallas that would have an in-store like this.

Like... one, that I can think of.

(Also, I think it's funny that I got an e-mail TODAY about my Lift Yr Skinny Fists record finally arriving. How timely!)

Wow, Record Store Day was not what it was last year. While I picked up some cool vinyl for purchase (John Lennon singles set, Jimi Hendrix Live EP, etc.) the Dimple Records stores in the Sacramento area were only allowing ONE freebie item per customer. Last year I walked out with a bagful of cool freebies like CD samplers, 45's, lithographs, etc.

I could go into a record store any day of the week and walk away with ONE CD sampler...what a rip.
I bought Stadium Arcadium when it came out in 2006. Last CD I bought.
That almost made me not want to buy anymore cds too.

Holy crap Record Store Day was a mad house at the place I went to. It was freezing out so there was only about 20-25 people standing in line but once they opened everyone got out of their cars and came in. There had to be 60-70 rushing to get the exclusives. Everyone just went to the tables and started reaching over each other. I was quite disappointed on how it was ran considering how organized a signing they had a few weeks ago was.

Yeah, Record Store Day this year was meh. Though got a bag from it so I can't complain. Other then that I had some gift cards and figured good as time as any to get some more CD's.

-Sonic Youth: Goo
-Curve: Chinese Burn
-Kalmah: 12 Gauge
-Tori Amos: Boys for Pele
-In This Moment: The Dream
-In This Moment: Beautiful Tragedy
-King Diamond: Abigail

I found a copy of Hooverphonics first album in Cancun this past week... 8 bucks for a brand new OOP CD going for $43 new on amazon marketplace. not bad.
