What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!

I am apprecative for the free Costume Quest we got this week. I just wish it would have recognized my progress from the demo. (does the demo save?) I dont want to play through that first hour or so again.

I liked the demo of Limbo but wouldnt pay $14.99 for it.
Check your save list to see if it made a save.
It must not have. When I started it up again a couple nights ago it didnt give me an option to load and started me right back at the opening cutscene.

The Drop for this week:
PlayStation Network

Sideway: New York (Only on PSN / Demo Available) – Set against the gritty art culture in New York City, Sideway follows the adventures of Nox, a 2D rebellious young artist, as he navigates the 3D urban streets.

Metal Slug 2 (Also on PSP) — Released in 1998 by SNK, Metal Slug 2 is a side-scrolling military-action game. Players choose from Marco, Tarma, Eri and Fio, setting their sights on wiping out Morden’s newly remobilized Rebellion Army. Just like the original Metal Slug, players blaze a trail by shooting and jumping, but Metal Slug 2 adds a new arsenal for you to command, including a heavy machine gun, a shotgun and even a laser gun, providing players with rich variety.

The King of Fighters ‘96 (Also on PSP) – The annual tournament to discover the new King of Fighters brings 27 of SNKs most powerful fighters together, throws them into teams of three, and lets you help them duke it out for the right to be called the best. The King of Fighters 96 entrants include Terry and Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser, and Mr. Big. There are nine pre-packaged teams, but with the custom-team option, you can create over 2900 of your own choosing.

Demos

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition
The Cursed Crusade

PSone Classic

XS Junior League Football — XS Junior League Football is a Football game, developed by Wahoo Studios and published by XS Games, which was released in 2003.

Actually, the demo is supposed to save, but it doesn't always. And loading up the unlock key deletes the demo save anyway. This is a known issue that has been brought up a few times on the Double Fine forums, but it's not a problematic error really.

Speaking of the Double Fine forums, there has been rumors flying about all year that we might be getting a second Costume Quest DLC pack this Halloween. So imagine my excitement when my eyes glazed over the worlds Costume Quest in last weeks deals. Being free, though...that doesn't seem like a good thing from a 'new DLC' perspective.

Everyone that helped make any of those XS games deserves whatever pain the universe doles out to them.

I might get Metal Slug 2. It's probably my favorite MS game. If not, it's at least the one I played the most. Pretty easy to get to level 4 with one credit back in the day at the arcade.

What does it mean when it states Costume Quest is expiring on 10/18? Is it only free for that stated 2 weeks, or just that we have 2 weeks to download it and it is free for the life of the PS Plus membership?

The latter I'd think.

You have to "buy" it and download before 10/18. As long as you have plus you can download it and play it for free whenver.
What are people's thoughts on Explodemon? Its on sale now with Plus and consdering getting it before that expires. Any good?
There's a demo, which I recommend playing before purchase.

My feeling (based on the demo) is that it's a sub-par platformer that isn't worth your money. Your mileage may vary, though.

I played the demo in the past and I liked it but you know they arent always representative of the full game

Strikers 1945 Plus for $5 is brilliant if you're a shooter fan. It never got a port to any other system after coming out on Neo Geo MVS. It is hard as shit but I really dig the series. I just wish we would've gotten some kind of port for Strikers 3 (whatever it was called, the one with modern jets).

What's the difference between the Plus version of Strikers and the regular one that was ported to the PSOne?
I wonder what week after week of Payday not releasing is doing to their digital preorders program.
I'm really unhappy with their preorder program. I don't care about little messages with the game trailer in it- fricking give me the game already. I paid 48$ (PS Plus price) for 3 games I wanted out of the 5, but I only get 2 by the end of September/halfway point of October? LAME

the whole preorder dealy makes no sense for downloadable games. what are they gonna run out of downloads? i could see if you got a discount off of it but aside from plus subs what discount is there? i hope they bring out the ps2 castlevannia games to psn. id also like to see a remake or sequel to rad.

The whole reason people were preordering was to get Payday: the Heist for "free." Basically, you spend the varying amount for the other 4 games- I spent 48$, normal price was 60$ I believe, and then you get a free 20$ value copy of Payday. It's a good scheme, but they need to deliver the content in a timely manner. Payday's already out on Steam, so I should have just bought it there.

You mean like Infamous:Festival of Blood? You get a free theme with the preorder purchase, so I guess that's the only incentive unless you're a plus member. A free theme plus having it delivered to your message box equals sold for some people.

Just to clarify, the game has been delayed on steam. I preordered it last month and it's been pushed back to a later release date on steam.

For me it wasn't that Payday was delayed but rather the whole release date shell-game that's still going on surrounding it.

We all know that shit happens and games get delayed but to have a solid date for your game along with a pre-order incentive program surrounding it only to fall off the fucking map one day before the supposed release in a cloud of PR clusterfuckery is perplexing and even disconcerting.(especially considering the publisher)

Never a huge fan of the series, played the NG versions as well as the PS2 port of 1 & 2 and I swore never again. This is mainly because there are so much better titles out there waiting to be played that aren't as mediocre. Psikyo can and has done better shumps in their time. (Gunbird, Zero Gunner 2, Cannon Spike) I know each shooter needs love, but some just don't have enough of "it" to make the grade (any of Milestone's games and Trigger Heart Excellica).
id also like to see a remake or sequel to rad.
That's unlikely since Sandlot (the developer) found success with Earth Defense Force and their last game Zangeki no Reginleiv for Wii didn't do so hot for them, for that matter neither did R.A.D. (innovative concept, poor execution, even though I liked it considering its faults)

I think what happened was the developer (Ex-Grin) guys oversold themselves and didn't anticipate delays they are now facing and hence the game has some bugs in it that need fixing before Sony (and Valve) will allow them to take the lid off so people can start playing, but still for a bunch of professional developers these guys in Sweden act like they've never made a professional game sometimes from the way they treat releases.

Hey Frisky, any news on when the Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC is going to be released over here? (the add-on packs not the extra mission) Its been released on the UK PSN, but I haven't seen anything unless I overlooked it already, I'd like to get the Gamestop exclusive DLC sometime.

For Payday to get yanked that late says to me that there was something really nasty that they (probably SOE) seemingly don't want people to ever know about. The two scenarios which come to mind are shoddy netcode and data corruption as either could destroy the game's reception.

Pretty much damned if ya do and damned if ya don't as people will now be looking for that kinda stuff since they've been given no other explanation for the last minute delay.

I really like shooters with real aircraft/vehicles in them, even if they're doing insane stuff like summoning a fleet of bombers to come protect them.

And I like Trigger Heart Excelica :booty:

Locking in a cheaper price makes sense to me, which is why I'm hoping that they keep offering them for more games.

Really, I thought it was available already. Payday's whole preorder program is failing at the moment then, but I doubt they'll be willing to add anything to sweeten the deal for the people who paid full price. /le sigh

Excelica couldn't decide if it was a shooter or a discus simulator.

Is there a way to check prices on PSN downloads without having to log my PS3 in? I don't have a wifi modem, so using PSN requires me to drop whatever I'm doing on the computer and switch the wires. I'm trying to found out the current price for Plants vs. Zombies.

Nope. But, you should really buy a switch or a router. Having said that, I just checked and its $14.99.

Yeah, I should really get around to getting either a router/switch or a wifi modem.

For those who are too cheap to splurg on something without trying it out, there is a Castlvania: Harmony of Despair demo out on the UK PSN one character (Alucard) and one map to play through.

The UK PSN also some some other exclusive demos (and DLC) as well for those interested.

Halo, while looking around the JPN PSN I saw that Strikers 1945 II is a PS1 classic if you're interested.

http://search.jp.playstation.com/se...onlineTitle=4&count=100&detail=0&sort_price=1

As of this week, there are 682 titles available for download in the Game Archives section of the JPN PSN Store. That includes PSOne Classics and PC Engine games. I thought it included NEO GEO titles, but in a quick skim through, I did not see them listed there. Odd.

At any rate, before defending the US' scant offerings, keep that in mind. 682 games, just b/w PSOne and PC Engine.

682.

400 of which are the Simple X000 series title games.

Sorry, I had too. ;)

That's insane though, its what I was discussing with anotherpoorgamer above, with the lack of some titles not being available in the other stores, is just stupid for them not to release the flood gates and let them out for purchase.

Even the UK is finally getting PS1 import classics now, they just need to open up some of these stores so people can see what wealth they are missing out on.

they want too much money for some of them though lke the neo geo games. even with a plus discount the price is too high for them. they should have went the collection route 20 bucks for the whole kof series or samura showdown series would be great but to want 7 bucks for one game ( even with online mp ) is asking too much.

Payday – The Heist (Demo available) – Payday: The Heist is a high-intensity squad-based first person shooter where players take on the role of a hardened career criminal pulling death-defying heists in the never-ending pursuit of the next “big score.” Quick wit, an equally fast trigger finger and above all teamwork are the rules of engagement as players will embark on a spectacular crime spree of six heart stopping heists, including blasting their way through a downtown bank vault robbery, managing hostages in an armored car hijacking and even a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility.

Dungeon Defenders – Developed by Trendy Entertainment, Dungeon Defenders throws action-RPG and tower defense gameplay into the proverbial blender to create a seamless mix of leveling, looting and high-action territorial combat for casual and core players alike. Dungeon Defenders features a lovingly-rendered watercolor art style and allows up to 4 players, online or locally, to take one of four distinct classes into fierce battle against ever-increasing waves of baddies and bosses across 15 arenas and multiple modes.

Real Steel (Demo Available) – In Real Steel, the player assumes the role of an owner of a fighting robot, and must battle against many different rival robots in an attempt to become champion of several levels of fighting tiers. Players earn in-game money by winning matches and, using this money, must periodically improve their robot, making it stronger and more fit to compete in the higher level match tiers. The vast amount of customizable parts and selectable equipment makes for over 100 million possibilities of custom robots!

Beat Hazard Ultra (Demo Available) – Welcome to a new experience in gameplay mechanics: Beat Hazard Ultra – Gameplay Powered by YOUR Music! Together they become greater than the sum of their parts.

Dead Space – Gamers step into a third-person sci-fi survival horror experience that promises to deliver the ultimate in psychological thrills and gruesome action. Set in the cold blackness of deep space, the atmosphere is soaked with a feeling of tension, dread and sheer terror. In Dead Space, players step into the role of engineer Isaac Clarke – an ordinary man on a seemingly routine mission to fix the communications systems aboard a deep space mining ship. It is not long before Isaac awakes to a living nightmare when he learns that the ship’s crew has been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. He must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.

Ridge Racer 7: 3D Version – The PlayStation 3 driving experience Ridge Racer 7 is reborn as the arcade Ridge Racer 7 3D Version. The arcade attraction makes use of a special television that uses filters to make the images burst out at players once players don special 3D glasses to play the game. Now you can experience the amazing speed and on-the-edge control of Ridge Racer in a whole new dimension!

Technologically, the game makes use of a technique called Xpol. Developed in conjunction with NHK Technical Service, this technology promises 3D visuals without player fatigue. The technology works at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

About Sam & Max. I got the first episode of Devil's Playhouse for free a long while back when it was up for free for a few hours. Since then, the PSN won't let me even look at the season pack for Devil's Playhouse. I just get a message saying 'this isn't available for your account'. Anyone else know of a fix for this?

My HDD is filling up much more quickly than I ever thought it would. 320gb seemed huge when I put it in, I think I'm at around 95gb remaining at the moment. Not much I'm down to delete either, I don't hang onto preview videos and the like. AssCreed 2, Infamous, and Red Faction Guerilla are huge space-users but I'm not done with any of them yet so they're sticking around. I might have to check out my game install data but I don't think there's much there either.

I have a 120gb and I am at 20gb... I would hate to get a new HDD and redownload all my saves and whtnot -_-

but yeah, my HDD is getting stuffed. I had to delete some games last night which I hate doing. PS+ isn't helping either with all this free stuff.

That's the thing, I can see the bundle and even click on it. It just won't let me look at it.

Turns out it's all cool anyway. I didn't want to have to spend a crap load on each episode individually, but it's just as expensive if I had just bought the bundle. And it looks like I can still buy the bundle from the TT site, so no big.
