What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!
Oh Crysis description.

edit: Oh hey they fixed it...Frisky is just too damned fast!

Anyone else in for Crysis? I never had the rig at the time and it being re-worked with the Crysis 2 systems on consoles sounds pretty rad.

edit2: Doh! Just read that there's no multiplayer.
I'm thinking I'll just grab Crysis off the next Steam sale since there's no MP...
Dothe weekly psn deals run until the morning of the next Tuesday?
Typically they run until the store is updated on the following Tuesday.

Dungeon Defenders will be out on 10/18 for $14.99 with Move and 3D support.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...n-for-new-exclusive-games-throughout-october/

We’re excited to announce a new program called “Only On PSN,” which features brand new games that are exclusively available on PlayStation Network throughout October. Every week starting tomorrow, October 4, you will find new titles, unique to PSN that are part of this program – games that you’ve likely read about here on the PlayStation Blog, or seen during our showing at E3 2011. You may recall our announcement a few months ago about our Pub Fund – a $20 million investment in exclusive PSN titles, and the Only On PlayStation Network program showcases two titles spawning from this investment: Eufloria and Okabu. We can’t wait for you to get your hands on the Only On PSN games yourselves, so we’re giving you a few special offers throughout the course of the program. First, to sweeten the deal, we’ll be offering PlayStation Plus subscribers a 20% discount on each game during the first week of its availability.

Additionally, users who spend $60 or more out of their PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network wallet through the month of October will get $10 back in November. This includes any of the Only On PSN games, purchases of games, add-ons, movies and TV shows in both the game and video sections of the PlayStation Store, your paid subscriptions for PlayStation Plus or Music Unlimited, movie rentals or purchases through Video Unlimited and any games or virtual items you buy in PlayStation Home.

Be sure to keep an eye on the PlayStation Twitter feed, as we’ll be giving away download codes for each game in the line-up every week. Don’t miss your chance to get this week’s Only On PSN games for free!

Now, let’s check out the games:

October 4:

 • Eufloria – An addictive ambient game of space exploration and conquest, plant growth and bio-mechanical evolution. Explore a beautifully realized universe rendered in a style that is unique and compelling. Conquer asteroids in deep space and use their resources to literally grow and nurture semi-organic plants and creatures to do your bidding.
 • Rochard – A fun and original space adventure game that features a resourceful hero, ominous villains, rugged machinery, big explosions, even bigger stunts and sharp one-liners. The game tests players’ coordination and wits as they use gravity to their advantage, changing it at will to solve environmental puzzles and advance through each level.

October 11:

 • Sideway: New York – Help defeat Spray, a sinister tagger who wants to dominate both Sideway and the real world in this unique sidescroller that offers you the chance to leave your mark on the city.

October 13:

 • Sodium Collection – A more than $35 value available for $9.99, this PlayStation Home value pack includes the SodiumOne Pilot’s Jacket, which unlocks the full 50-level tank combat Salt Shooter game, and weapon upgrades for your SodiumOne tank. Also included is a variety of upgrades for Sodium 2: Project Velocity, a high-speed, free-to-play, futuristic multiplayer racing game exclusive to PlayStation Home, and the wildly-popular Blaster’s Paradise personal space, which hosts a tabletop version of Salt Shooter. Buy from the PlayStation Store and play in PlayStation Home.

October 18:

 • Okabu – An action-puzzler, where players will guide Kumulo, Nimbe and four cloud-flying heroes as they battle to save their people and their world from the industrialized threat of the Doza. Dive into a hyper-tactile toybox world filled with a huge number of puzzles, playthings, adorable creatures and devious machines spread across an epic co-op campaign.
 • RocketBirds: Hardboiled Chicken – Annihilate an evil penguin regime in this cinematic platform adventure game offering full solo and co-op campaigns with stereoscopic 3D support. Destroy enemies with a slew of weapons and illuminate the secrets to his past while uncovering the real enemies of Albatropolis.

October 25:

 • inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood – Vampires swarm New Marais, and revered superhero Cole MacGrath has been bitten. To save his soul and city, he has just one night to find and kill the head vampire. Featuring hours of new gameplay, themed environment settings and new characters/enemies, Festival of Blood explores the darker side of the inFAMOUS universe.
 • PixelJunk Sidescroller – Q-Games goes old-school with a completely retro side-scrolling shooter that reinvents the genre from the ground up while maintaining that nostalgic feeling. Dodge flurries of alien bullets and strategically upgrade weapons while battling through sweeping stages full of hazardous fluid and endless shooting mayhem.
Also starting tomorrow as part of Only On PSN, we’ll also be offering a selection of rare classic games in the PlayStation Store: God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red.

So head into the PlayStation Store tomorrow afternoon to check out Eufloria and Okabu, and don’t forget: If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, be sure to take advantage of the 20% discounts for the new games each week before we move onto the next week of Only On PSN titles. We hope you enjoy the month of October gaming with these exclusive titles on PSN!
Wow. They're officially adding PS2 games to the PS Store, though I'm not sure if these are remastered/remade HD versions or emulated versions of the originals.

Edit: Nevermind, it's mentioned here that they're straight emulations, so no trophies, HD visuals, etc.

Qore Episode 41 – October Early Access

Happy that I dodged Costume Quest during various sales on PSN and XBLA. I also came close to buying Warhawk a couple times. Bonuses for me.

The licensing issues should be much easier to solve for PS2 games than PS1 games, so it would just be up to the publishers to have their games released on PSN. The HD Collection business will probably hinder some of the potentially huge titles that could've appeared (SotC, Ico, God of War, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, FFX, MGS, etc).

Eh. If it's $10 for PS2 quality vs $15 for HD + trophies, I'm fine with whichever.

Just don't ask me to hold my breath that there truly will be any sort of "steady flow." I ain't buyin' it.

I'd guess that publishers would rather have the $15/$20/$40 option be the only one instead of competing with themselves. Just look at how Square Enix is putting every game from those Final Fantasy PS1 collections on PSN besides FFIV, which is $40 on a dying platform (PSP).

Ten dollars for epic PS2 games? Good stuff. I'll definitely buy God Hand, but I'll have to think about some of the other titles they put on the store.
Way to hedge, Sony.

Good thing they said "steady flow" - even if their output is terrible, they can claim a victory.
Yeah look at the literally hundred...or so PS1 Classics out there for your enjoyment, you only had to wait 5 years for all of that goodness.

(exception: unless you're in or have access to the JPN PSN)

**Note: if you read this and can't see the sarcasm literally dripping off of this post, then I'll hook you up with a really good optometrist.

fuck! They delayed Payday: The Heist a DAY before it's release to an undisclosed date sometime this month. Glad I didn't pre-order it, I'd be pissed.

Gee I sure wish that there was some Crysis PS3 coverage out there somewhere from someone who could tell the purchasing public how it handles in comparison to the 360 version which people can totally buy right fucking now. *headache*

Crysis bought and downloading.

It just irks me how we hear from the top-down that there's no bias or skewing or preference and that everyone is platform-agnostic and striving for parity but yet whether it's developers or publishers or journalists the coverage is heavily weighted towards the 360 version most every damn time.

I own all of the consoles and a decent PC so it isn't about any kind of platform wars but rather just wanting the industry to communicate to us as consumers how each of the various versions perform so that we can make educated purchasing decisions rather than wading-in blindly like an early adopting lab rat like my dumbass just did.

How many outlets churn out blanket reviews for games when they've really only actually played one of the 3-5 versions? The answer is most of them.

Blah blah blah consumer rights and a big fat bug up my ass.

oops: Oh sorry. Everything is up via search was what I really came to post.

Elemental Monster is an odd pick for a Plus freebie. Well in the sense that it's only $0.99 to begin with.

Neat little CCG even with the controversial ticket system. (which can be avoided entirely by sticking to single-player and friendly matches)

This is a stupid question, since they said it's "emulation" like the PS1 classics, and I know those don't have XMB access, and I have a "fully BC" 60 gig PS3, so I know PS2 discs don't have XMB, but can anyone confirm lack of XMB access with the PS2 classics?
can you elaborate on the save file system then?

and perhaps file size as well?

thanks!
Sure. When you save, it goes through the "checking for memory card (8MB)" process and then acts like there's one inserted. It didn't ask me to pick a slot, but I don't remember if God Hand did to begin with. There's a new Saved Data Utility (PS2) folder now and it's got a 17MB save file in it, so maybe it allocates space for two cards per game.

The game itself is 1520MB installed.

How well is it emulated? Seems like its running as flawlessly as on a PS2?

It runs pretty smoothly and looks fine. I played for about an hour and didn't have any problems, except for all the demons killing me. :cold: I forgot how annoying those were.

Although the new PS2 Classics pricing is an excellent decision. $4 more than PS1 seems right, I definitely don't feel any annoyance at the pricing.

I've played both the PS3 and 360 versions of Crysis now and it's pretty much a wash: They both have pop-in (both texture and geometry) and framerate dips when the action gets hectic but all-in-all it's a great port.

It's interesting going from Deus Ex: Human Revolution into Crysis as it takes hours in Deus Ex before you start to feel like a badass whereas Crysis drops you out of the plane ready to obliterate baddies with a ridiculous toolset. (apples and oranges but it is stark)

Both versions could use a patch or two but that's pretty much every game these days.

That's unfortunate that we can't use the PS2 virtual memory cards. I have a game in progress from years ago on Odin Sphere. It'd be cool to have the option to resume from where I was if I decided to buy the PS2 classic version.

Oh and $10 for CT is stupid. It is a fantastic game but the perfect VC SNES version is $8. I'm not paying extra for load times. I'll get it if it goes on sale just to be able to play it on PSP but as it stands, no sir.

Square is up there with Capcom for greediest companies. They both tend to price their stuff insanely stupid on the digital market. If you think that $10 for CT is bad try $16 for the Iphone version of Final Fantasy Tactics...and its basically just a port of the PSP version slow down and everything!
On the bright side, I don't think they made any Spec Ops games for the PS2.
LOL

No but there is
Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror

To look forward too. ;)

Edit: My mistake there is one....Spec Ops: Airborne Division Haha!!! Bring it on. Edit 2: Never mind the game was canceled in development, now I'm sad. =p

Just checked Amazon, Valkyrie Profile PSP can be had for $14 shipped.

Silent Bomber is on the JPN PSN, and while you'll miss some of the story points, it is highly playable in JPN. Vagrant Story was released here recently so that takes care of one of 'em.
Man I wish I still had that disc.
About 4-5 years ago, I tried to buy my nephews copy he got when he worked at BBV, he wouldn't sell it, so on a lark I called the Gamestop I frequented at the time (I knew the manager decently, as he helped me track down a few rare titles now and again) and asked if he knew where I could find a copy of Silent Bomber.

He checked "oh yeah, we got one right here, disc only" I was like "hell yeah, keep it, I'll be by tomorrow for it". Fully expecting to pay like $15-20 for it, he rings it up $2.99 :hot: I was like no way! Tried to keep from having a shit eating grin on my face while he rang me up, looked at the disc before I left and it was in excellent shape, so I was stoked I scored a copy of that very uncommon (more like rare even then) title.

Shame Bandai doesn't feel the same about it and would release it over here on PSN, I think the game deserves to find a new audience overseas that overlooked it when it came out late in the PS1's life cycle.

I just wanted to reiterate how fuck-awesome Crysis is: It is still a ~2007 release and yeah there are wonky bits coupled with missing multiplayer but when it clicks you become a Nano Ninja.

The $20 price-tag is admittedly about $5 too high but the gunplay is chunky and satisfying, the suit powers are weighted and deliberate backports from 2, and the difficulty is refreshing. (skewed some by the enemy's eagle-eyes though)

There are technical issues here and there and it's far from perfect but when you let yourself get absorbed-in action movie style where the dumb shit doesn't matter and the real world melts away it becomes this stealthy predatory mayhem on the edge of falling the fuck apart and I kinda love it on my dual-shock.:applause:
Does anyone know the PS2 classics on PSN have trophy support? Sorry, game sites are blocked, can't look up... Thanks!
There's a new monthly post on the PS Blog that will show the Top 20 top-selling PSN games for each month:

and no, this list does not include PlayStation Plus members who downloaded the games for free.

1. Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection:
This eagerly awaited collection of hit arcade fighters Mortal Kombat, MKII, and MK3 soars to the top of the September PSN sales chart. Finish him!
2. Resident Evil 4
3. From Dust
4. Angry Birds
5. Resident Evil 2
6. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
7. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
8. Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition: This fighting classic and PSN PLAY inductee cracked the top ten in its second month of availability. Check out PlayStation Store for a host of new DLC options, too.
9. Limbo
10. Final Fantasy VII: This PSone RPG classic shows some remarkable staying power, hanging in the top 10 despite launching on the PlayStation Store more than two years ago. No Phoenix Down needed here!
11. Resident Evil Director’s Cut
12. Parasite Eve II
13. Burnout Crash!
14. Elemental Monster Online Card Game
15. Breath of Fire IV
16. Saints Row 2: At 7 GB, this open-world crime epic is the largest game on this month’s download list. And at $20, it makes a fine chance to catch up before November’s Saints Row The Third.
17. Renegade Ops
18. Call of Duty Classic
19. Castle Crashers
20. Battlefield 1943
Not surprised that MKII's success lead to the Arcade Kollection doing well.
