What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!

I'm one of the few that hasn't bought Battlefield 1943 yet. I do recall it being on sale a couple times before (once by itself, and the most recent as a bundle with Battlefield Bad Company 2's Onslaught Mode), but was wondering if it's PSN Plus sale price of $8.99 is the best price it's been offered for?

Also, is there still a decent online community for the game? I'd hate to shell out $8.99 and discover that only 2,000 people are still playing this online.

Try out the demo to see how easy it is to get into a game, as it just gives you a free 30 minute trial on the main servers. I'd imagine that it still has a good community like it does on XBLA.

Thanks for the update gunm.

Looks like there is a good bit to sift through this week. Maybe I can put this $300 in PS credit to use.

Anyone try out any Neo Geo games yet? If so, how is the online? I read they are adding online play, voice chat, etc to many of the titles... UK PS Plus members get Samurai Showdown for free, in Jan they'll get Magician Lord.
I played it and beat it when it released... dragged at first but pretty awesome later. Its still my fave in the series. Long ass game too.
Yeah I mentioned in an earlier post some time back I spent over 200 hours (I think it was closer to 240) playing through both campaigns 8-[ That's how MASSIVE the game is, and you never get tired of playing it, is the funny bit. On the flip side it's one of those games you love, but never want to play ever again since you sunk so much time into it.

You spend no less than 30-60 minutes each time you get to customize your wanzer on tinkering with new parts, that part of the game is a major time sink, but you do it because that's what helps you for each successive mission, just that little bit extra to give you an edge.

I didn't replay missions too much either except the ones where you get the
Qibing
Wanzers, since they are the best ones in the main storyline outside of the hidden wanzer (which given how deep the game is with the websites, and other information, which I read all of it, how the heck they expect you to find out how to do that on your own is insane)

Yeah if any of you start playing it, better rearrange your schedule for the near future because you won't be playing anything else for a very long time afterward. ;)

If you can't tell I still enjoy reminiscing about the game, to everyone playing the first time, have fun, take your time and enjoy it, if you love TRPGs you're in for a treat.

Finished FM3 back in the PS days. Really enjoyed it. Had a strategy guide too. The game did take forever and many battle were won with just one mech left and that mech having lost like an arm and a leg.

Front Mission 4 was horrible if I remember.

Also:
I feel like a total idiot for wanting to pay $0.49 for one of the mega man legends avatars. But I loved that game back then. To this day my wife still asks if "This game have any dancing monkeys in it?" (Data was a cute little dancing monkey with like 4 frames of animation.)

Front Mission 4 was sublimely good. The link system totally made that game; I'd love to see something like that in another SRPG.

In terms of gameplay I loved that but the story wasnt as good as 3 honestly.
Great stuff. It's too bad we're not getting the free SNK games that the UK is.
*not an SNK fan soooooo*

Then again I think Lead and Gold may be online only...which is both something I am not a fan of(I have panic attacks even in online games)and online games have their community die so fast if it isnt a popular game.

Lead and Gold is online only. One reason why I didn't pick it up earlier, but now I'm really glad I didn't since it will be free for PSN+. Yay, PSN+!

thats a cool game to get and like many of you im glad i didnt buy it still hoping ratchet and clank will come up free or discounted.

*hopes it is just discounted*

At this point I wish that anything over a year or so old, especially if its not 2 or 3 years old, is just discounted. I mean the older something is the more people own it and the less it is useful to. I like when they give stuff away too that is not exactly popular but still quality too because its a nice little surprise getting something I did not know I wanted.

I would buy league bowling but because you can't also play it on the psp, i don't think so. Only snk fighting game i would want to play online is the last blade because its the only one i am really good at. That game is so sweet i had to get myself the big marquee for it.

Off topic so I apologize but I'd love to get one of those dedicated Samurai Shodown II machines I used to see. It was mostly white with a full sized marquee. Very nice.

On topic - Those Neo Geo games are way too expensive. Yeah, it's been said before but I've been close to pulling the trigger on Magician Lord and Alpha Mission 2 a couple times today thanks to playing them pretty heavily back in the day but I just can't do it. SNK needs to do another compilation disc but unlike all their other US releases, actually emulate the games properly. *throws PS2 SNK compilation out window*

Since SNK is nothing more than a hollow shell of what they once were don't count on it. They outsourced all of their PS2 ports, and if it wasn't for the easy money to be had from putting these games on Wii/PSN/XBL (I guess it's on there too?) they probably wouldn't bother.

I used to either play or buy anything they put out until their demise / buyout, but truly in the last decade has their been anything worthwhile produced by them?

Metal Slug 3D
Samurai Shodown Sen
Any KoF past '99 (maybe 2003, only because of Garou Terry, but that's me being gullible there)
PS1 3D games (arguable quality, nice CG, but that's the only compliment I can give)
And the only good PS2 fighter was Maximum Impact 2, which was light years better than the atrocity that was Maximum Impact 1.
Even SNK vs. Capcom wasn't as good as it could have been.

If they could come back to some semblance of quality that was there from the old days I could see supporting them in some decent fashion (I did get Samurai Showdown Collection). They are the story of a company once great, that unfortunately, was bought out. Then they came back to reclaim what made it great, only to fail in its effort and found only those with lots of hope (and blind loyalty) still care.

Being loyal to them for as long as I was, my loyalty was pretty much crushed after seeing years and years of soulless sequels, cash-ins and worthless garbage get released with only hints of greatness that once was slipping by once in a great while.

Lastly, I just feel sad for Kawasaki-sensei, he got back what was rightfully his (the company), tried to make it great again, but couldn't get back the zenith of quality his company had when they released Garou and Last Blade 2, which IMHO, are the masterpieces of SNK's legacy of games.

Sorry for the soapbox, I am a jaded former SNK fan who feels like their high school sweetheart has been whored out for cash and feels nothing but pity for them now because of the potential for greatness that they once held is now forever lost...

On topic though, patiently awaiting tonight's update. ;)

I'm expecting Sly Cooper collection to hit PSN and a Killzone 3 multiplayer beta to be opened up. Same with LBP 2 beta. And of course a Rockband track pack (most unrealistic one BY FAR)

EDIT: Today, that is
There's no update for today/tonight. The PS blog replied to a comment saying the next one is 1/4/11
Yeah think they did the same last year, why I asked if the big update last week was to make up for this.

They generally don't have an update between Xmas and New Year's since they get the week off until after New Year's Day. That's also why some of the timed deals don't end until next week rather than lasting the usual one week.

I saw a post on neogaf that a bunch of Square-Enix games have been rated by ESRB for PSN - including Xenogears (!) and Threads of Fate, among others. Maybe we'll get a new year's surprise with one or more of these!

Thanks for the info. :) A link would have been nice though. ;)

Nice to finally see Vagrant Story, but woulda liked to see Einhander too, might pick up Legend of Mana as it's one of the few PS1 Square games I don't own.

Edit: Especially seeing it's super dirt cheap price on Amazon for $300!!!
Has anyone purchased any of the Neo Geo games yet? The idea of online multiplayer being added is intriguing.
i want to jump on metal slug but not sure if its online multiplayer. i wish they bring metal slug 7 port like on xbl. that game is awesome.

I don't care about Square Enix PS1 games but if they release them and they're popular enough, hopefully Atlus will heed the call and release some of their games (which I very much care about!). I would even love to see some Working Designs games but I know that is already asking too much...

I know I will be holding my breath for years to come, but the only PSX RPG I really care that much about is Suikoden 2. Most of the PSX RPGs have not held up as well as most people remember, I still own and have played most of them fairly recently and most are not that good anymore. Suikoden 2 however remains godly and sadly I sold my copy awhile back to help pay some hospital bills.
What about Suikoden 1? I bought it but only got like....20mins into it and never went back. does it get good?
I do not think it gets as good as Suikoden 2 or V by any stretch of the imagination, however I think its still a solid game that held up pretty well. Also given the fact that the game is only 10-15 hours long you can bust through pretty quick.

The real fun of the Suikoden games is collecting all of the 100+ charcters and watching your castle grow, this does not start untill around 2-3 hours in(game is still solid up to that point though). Suikoden 2 and 5 have amazing stories to boot though.

I agree with everything MSI said about Suikoden. Just want to add (and I know I'm in the minority here) that Suikoden IV is great as well. Since they lowered the number of party members to 4, the graphics improved a lot and the sea battles are hella fun. Also, Suikoden III is my least favorite due to the weird tag-team groupings of the battle system, the numerous backtracking and lack of fast travel until very late in the game, and the early PS2-era stilted animation graphics. And Suikoden VI needs to come out NOW!

I apologize for turning this thread into a Suikoden discussion thread but Suikoden 1 is not only the first JRPG I ever played but also the first PS1 game I played so it holds a special place in my heart. *nostalgia*
