Agreed that it may be superior to Xeno now. Problem is that is like being superior to a 1 armed man in a tug off war contest. Both games were overrated back then and both have not aged well.
Sigh....

some people can't take a joke. Like I said to the guy complainin' about RE2, it's (VS) a freakin' 12 year old game, whadda want?
I think VS is still ahead of its time for the gfx (smoothed (on PS2/3) it looks as good or better than a lot of PS2 games) the controls while clunky were ahead of their time, how many games from 1999 had a fully movable and not crappy camera (you can look at the ceiling if you want), the battle system has never been re-used since then being a hybrid of Parasite Eve's sphere system and timed button presses., but somehow it worked and worked very well when you learned how to use it effectively.
The seriously insane amount of weapon customization is unreal, the music is excellent (listening to it right now in fact), the story is so complex and compelling, you want to know how it ends and the ending is so ratcheted up that by the time its over you're ready to play the sequel. The only thing this game did wrong (if it's a bad thing) was come out ahead of its time, didn't get enough respect when it came out and most egregiously didn't get a sequel.
Just last night I finally bought the game guide for it, so I could have a complete customization guide as well as have an idea of what extras you can access when you get
after beating the game.
Trust me there are other PS1 games that haven't aged half as gracefully as this game. And please learn to take a joke,

(I'm sure your not upset, but I honestly don't know hot to interpret your response totally) even though I'm critical about XG's (since it is much too epic for its own good), I don't take the piss out its fans, even though after playing the same thing they played, I still don't see why it gets as much love as it does, in fact I feel the same about Crono Cross, I don't care much for it either.
If you can play'em without putting them into the 2011 filter, I think there is a lot of enjoyment to be had. It's still a very vivid memory for me even though it's been 10 years since I played it last.
Anyway, just glad people have the option to replay these games that, IMO, still hold up to scrutiny pretty well, and also I believe it's also nice to let people see why Squaresoft was so revered back in the 90's, a company that could do no wrong, who released very few clunkers, and why people consider it their golden age as well.
