XBL content was very poor too last year. There were only 30 demos total and XBLA was a huge joke. If anything, Sony is ahead of MS.

.
are you fucking kidding me? you should kick your own ass for that stupid comment
Well, Home is coming, which I would assume (correct me if I'm wrong), will be a complete overhaul of the on-line interface. I'm hoping that along with that, content will be more readily forthcoming, but I think that will only really come with larger market share.
This is true, and thanks for reminding me that Home will be more than just a place to decorate your apartment and join up with people. I'm psyched for it and hope Sony makes it the experience they are claiming it will be; until then I'm going to bitch about the antiquated look of the PSN store.
Why the update taking so long? I want me Fred Claus trailer #5 already
Don't you get it? The Fred Claus trailer from last week was so awesome, that we get absolutely nothing this week. yay!

Today’s PLAYSTATION Store update will feature demos for upcoming PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) titles, DiRT and NCAA Football 08, and new trailers for Folklore and TimeShift. Also check out the second installments of the Heavenly Sword “Making of” video feature and animated series.

Below are the details of these and other exciting new offerings:

DiRT demo (free): Get off road, be the fastest and stay in control with this new demo that takes players on an adrenaline fuelled ride through a massive range of off road racing.

NCAA Football 08 demo (free): Lead by example and take control of the game in NCAA Football 08. The all-new Campus Legend mode and Dynasty Mode put all your skills, integrity and ingenuity to the test.

•Folklore “A Tale of Two Strangers” Trailer (free): Get drawn in and learn more about Ellen and Keats, two strangers who meet in the mysterious town of Doolin and discover the gateways to the Netherworld.

TimeShift Trailer (free): Dr. Aiden Krone has made a Time Jump across the space-time continuum – a reckless act with frightening consequences. Now, a disturbing alternate reality has evolved within the bleak and rain-soaked Alpha District. Armed with the experimental Beta Suit, you alone are able to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time. Only with this ability can you lead the uprising to victory and put an end to Krone’s madness.

Heavenly Sword “Making of” No. 2 (free): In “Episode Two: Bringing Design to Life,” see the development of characters including Nariko, Kai and King Bohan as they go from stills on a concept artist’s drawing board to moving, fighting beings on an animator’s computer screen.

Heavenly Sword Anime No. 2 (free): In “Episode Two: Guardians of the Sword,” the power of the Heavenly Sword is too strong, so strong that no mortal man can resist it. Yet for those who succumb to temptation, the glory is fleeting. Wielding the sword carries a heavy, heavy price.

Movie Trailers (free): Download movie trailers for the upcoming releases, Bros Solomon, Wall E and Lives of Others (on Blu-ray Disc).

It'll update soon I hope.

Oh, and about PSN Cards.

NCSX has finally started to sell them.
Get them when you see them as they quickly vanish.

36.50 for 3000 yen.
No shipping, they just email you the code.

Just ordered a PSN card. Thanks for the heads up. At 600 Yen per PSX game, that's 5 PSX games for $36.50, or $7.30 per game. Only marginally more than the $5.99 US.

Huzzah!

Also, I don't take back a single thing I said about the PSN today, but I do love, if only for a moment, being dead wrong about the content. Shame, really, as I was about to post an image of the "Wheel of Fish" host from the movie UHF, with the "YOU GET...NOTHING!" underneath it, as I thought there would be no PSN update this week.
Aren't the best demos, but I'm not gonna complain because at least there are demos coming out
DiRT is pretty damn good. Definitely one of my favorite demos on 360. I just never bought the game because it was coming to PS3.

Awesome update today Sony. Glad to see a Folklore trailer up.:D

I played it on the 360 and thought it was just a meh game.

It's all up now, including 3 new wallpapers.

Looks they tried to add icon spaces on the Blast Factor wallpaper (PSP style) though it doesn't quite fit. You have to zoom a little.

That NCAA demo is terrible. Pixellation galore on the fonts and throughout.

Dirt seems identical to the 360 version. Does anyone know what the differences in the two are?

That ones for the 360 and ones for the PS3?

Dirt looks very much awesome

heavenly sword anime was good. first one was kinda meh. can't wait for the next one. also the making of just left me wanting for more
Has any one tried Cash Guns Chaos? None of the reviews are to good, but its only a $4.99
I remember playing the demo. It's like Smash TV but worse. And the music is God Awful.

It can be entertaining though.

Framerate more stable, less light bloom [you can make out more details now], minor things.
Also added things like replay mode, and I think a couple new cars and tracks, but don't hold me to that part.

Also controls were slightly refined.
Isn't NCAA another 30fps vs 60fps game?
I thought the 360 one was 30fps too?

Does EA really take NCAA seriously, it's like the retarted little brother.
Anyway, I don't doubt it though.

I will download the DIRT demo again, as I enjoyed it on the 360, but deleted it because my HDD was full.

Now, PS3 needs to do background downloading when I'm watching a DVD....I don't understand why they cannot do that.

They also need a low-power mode to download stuff *ala* the 360. It sometimes takes me forever to download stuff, as I shut my PS3 off when I am done, never leave it running overnight.

About the Japanese PSN Network, I was thinking about getting the 3000 yen card from NCSX, though the only games I could think of getting there were King of Fighters 98 or 99 and Metal Slug, (and maybe R-type or Gunners Heaven) is there anything else worth owning on there as of right now, that's playable w/o a guide?
I would just buy the Metal Slug collection on PS2. They're excellent ports, and you get 5 Metal Slugs (or is it 6..)
Actually there are seven: MS, MS2, MSX, MS3, MS4, MS5, MS6

I've been meaning to buy this game. Metal Slug has always been my favorite side-scrolling shooter :twoguns:

Or you guys could just get Gametap and get all of the Metal Slugs and King of Fighter games on there.

Sorry to pimp that service so much, but so many of those games are already out there, and when I've wanted to play Metal Slug it's usually only for a few hours... then I'm on to something else.

Not to mention that the PS1 ports probably aren't arcade perfect.

I just noticed that a "Internal Affairs" trailer is up on the Hong Kong store. It is the movie "The Departed" was copied from was based on. :whistle2:\"
From GAF:
Yeh, all of that is one there. The PS1 game is the first icon (look for a "X I die") under the second store tab.

Yup, I was about to say that.

Man, Japan even gets DEMOS of PSX games.
You know, they should throw up some PS2 demos while they're at it.

All of this joking about "Fred Clause"--am I the only one who thinks it looks somewhat entertaining? I wouldn't have even known about it except for the trailers on PSN.
