No love for the GTAs (post and pre-III)? Granted they have lots of licensed music, but there had good original stuff and some awesome radio stations.
GTA Franchise
Madden 2003
Alan Wake
RDR
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Castlevania Sotn (and most NES tunes)
Wipeout XL Wing Commander Prophecy (some crazy late 90s industrial rock)
more I can't recall
I liked the GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas soundtracks(though not enough to pay out the wazoo for them), but GTA III and any GTA games prior to Vice City had mostly shit music on their radio stations. The only redeeming quality of GTA III's radio was Lazlow.
Mega Man 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2
Streets of Rage 1 and 2
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Street Fighter II HD remix (or any SF II)
Final Fantasy VII
Duck Tales (NES) OST
Moonwalker (gen)
Arrow Flash (gen)
GTA Vice City
My favorite original soundtrack is definitely Castle Crashers. Other than that I really liked the music in MVP 2005 (R.I.P. MVP series) and in Burnout: Revenge.
I just wrapped up this game. Great period pieces; really sets the tone and atmosphere well. Overall immersion was well done. Too bad no sequel in sight.
Ridge Racer Type 4
Final Fantasy X (Piano Collections)
Xenogears
Fallout 3
Bioshock
RRT4 and FFX will remain in G.O.A.T. status for the rest of my life. A lot of songs on FFXPC affect me emotionally in profound ways and FFT4 is just 90s win break dancing on your eardrums at Mach 5 speed.
Halo series has to make the list somewhere. I like so many OSTs though..from FF series to Chrono Cross, there are too many to choose from. FF has released some good specialty CD's (special mixes)
