Gamefan!! At least, the early years of it. The first few years, that magazine had this fantastic amateurish, but incredibly enthusiastic charm to it. The articles and text were always cluttered, and the pages were littered with sprites and screens, and there were typos, and the whole thing was just wonderful. I never felt the same sort of disconnect with the Gamefan writers as I do with most game journalists. They were fanboys, you know? Truly enthusiastic.
Next Gen was good stuff, too, though, but very different. It was so sophisticated, so I definitely respected that about it.
