who moderates the mods

I know the link doesn't work, dummy. The thread was deleted, which is why it doesn't work. I was merely pointing daphatty in the right direction.

You talk way too much for someone so ignorant.

So speaking of moderators... there seems to be a Springer-style brawl evolving before our eyes between these guys.
For someone who's been given free access to an awesome website with amazing information and useful people to socialize with you sure do complain a lot.
I think time2play needs to complain more often. Thats what I think. Keep it up time2play!

Technically the thread wasn't deleted, it was moved to the dump. Which, to members, is as good as deleting. I checked the history, no reason was given. I'm assuming because pornography in any form is not permitted on the site, and as such leading users to free pornography is not permitted.

That's my assumption. I don't answer for other Moderators actions, though. So I can't help more than that.

It's teh interwebs. Anonymity + keyboard = people say too much with too much attitude.

OH, SO YOU THINK I HAVE AN ATTITUDE AND SAY TOO MUCH NOW!? RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

...okay, I'm better.

I'll be honest... there have been a few times I've wondered if something happened or thought something should've happened, but the mods here are a lot less trigger-friendly than elsewhere.

Personally I think it would be best if moderators didn't have "MODERATOR" attached to their names... I think that would go a long way in keeping the mods from being singled out and also removing the status quo.

And cheapyd smokes weed? That might explain that gamestop 2-pack deal he posted a week or two ago...

And for those happy to toss around TOU and UA before reading the entire FAQ, they should check for a few items:
CAG Registration & Membership
You may not register or access CAG if you are under the age of thirteen (13).

USE OF GENERAL CONTENT
Content on the Site may not be appropriate for children. The Site is not directed to children under the age of 18, and the Management does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. We strongly recommend that parents take an active role in the use of the Internet by their children, and that parents employ parental control software to limit the access of their children to inappropriate material on the Internet.

Registration Obligations

You may not access the Site if you are under the age of thirteen (13).
That details that the site is allowed to be accessed if someone is 13 or over, and even though there's a disclaimer about the site content not being for those under the age of 18, anyone of the age of 13 and older is allowed access to the site.

Said thread didn't meet the guidelines for content for those under the age of 18 that might access the site, so it was dumped.

They're just less proactive. Wait until someone reports one of your posts/PMs for any random bullshit reason and then you'll see how good they really are.

Just a heads up: you can't dispute bans without creating another account, which is against the rules. GREAT SYSTEM.

i did read the entire FAQ and those statements. my interpretation is that the statement 'Content on the Site may not be appropriate for children. The Site is not directed to children under the age of 18,' is explicitly declared, whereas the other statements then implicity infer one 13 or over is still allowed, and as such the former statement takes precedence.

Actually, I do have a tiny problem with the last thing. I was silenced a couple weeks ago over something I didn't think was wrong, and I missed out on some trades that I was currently involved in. I really think there should be a warning system in place on CAG. that way, if someone is ignorant of their mistakes, like me, the mods can show them that they're wrong and have the posts deleted. I would have gladly deleted my posts had shrike or another mod told me I was breaking the rules. Instead, I was suddenly banned for a week. All I'm saying is that we should give people a chance to correct their mistakes before we do something that punishes them. Most people will definitely delete offending posts and such. And if they don't or repeat the same actions again, then you should punish them. Just my thoughts, but I think it would help a great deal.

We tried that a while ago. It caused more problems than it solved.

Would you guys ever consider the PM policy???

PMs are used wherever they are warranted. Yes, it is a subjective decision but that's just the way it is.

Okay. Thanks for letting me know what's up! I thought that my situation certainly warranted a PM rather than a ban, but it's cool!

Sugar, for the most part the majority of us will generally just delete the offending posts and call it a day.
Generally when I do that, I'll throw a post in the thread stating what I did and a reminder for folks to behave. But that's my choice, I prefer to keep everyone up to speed on my actions.

IMO, that acts as a sort of speed limit sign letting folks know that a line was crossed and everyone needs to get back on track.

If a user has shown themselves to be repeatedly problematic for whatever reason, the mod handling the issue should definitely send a PM to notify the member what they've been doing that's offensive in terms of the site TOS and the community and to knock it off. (I can't speak for others, but I believe every mod does this.)

At that point, most moderators will add a note in the Mod Forum so we all are up to speed on issues, but also so we can discuss the issue. Often we all agree, but we also have had great debates over if an action is offensive as per the TOS, or if people are over-reacting.

Personally, I liked and miss the Infraction system. It worked very well when used appropriately, mainstreamed our actions and left a very reliable form of paper trail for us and any member in question. Ah well, such is life.

I haven't had any posts vanish so... apparently I haven't done anything *that* wrong yet.

Thanks for the response!!! I don't know which mod silenced me, but it was my first ever "problem" on this site. It honestly wasn't even that bad of a problem, I thought. All I did was ask about the fallout coasters a couple times in the Kmart thread, but apparently, it was enough of a problem for one mod to ban me for a week. Kind of an overreaction to me, but they're the mod, I guess. I just thought it was unfair that I didn't even get a reply in the thread saying, "Hey, you need to stop posting about coasters in here." If that had happened, I'd have never brought it up again. I guess I just think that there should be certain steps EVERY mod has to take when dealing with people, instead of just doing whatever they think is best at the time. Mod or not, no one is infallible.

Ahh I remember you now... you kept posting offers to sell coasters right? According to someone you did this about 8 times, I remember telling you it was spamming the two times I noticed it and I'm sure others said the same during the other instances, I believe your response was along the lines of "if this is a problem, then someone will take care of it". It may not have been a mod saying it, but IMO you probably recieved plenty enough warning on this matter.

Ahh I remember you now... you kept saying I was spamming when i only posted the offer three times over a couple days and then discussed it with various people. I remember you telling me it was spamming after the first posting. And, I wasn't even offering to sell them, it was the other way around. i was asking if people could possibly get them for me. I never said anything along the lines of, "if it's a problem, then someone will take care of it". And no, just because someone with no authority tells me something is spamming or against the rules, does not make it so.

And, FYI, you were the only one that had a problem with it, besides the mod who silenced me. Please review any facts you may be attempting to use in any future slander. Thanks!!!

Hey I'm not on trial here, you're the one giving the "gee gosh I didn't do anything wrong" speech, I'm just suggesting you heed the advice of your fellow cags. Mods may have the final say, but that doesn't mean that you should ignore everyone else until you hear from them. You can say that I was the only one who was actually making this complaint, but I'd be pretty damn surprised if all it took was three mere posts and one stick-in-the-mud to get someone banned for an entire week.

I would bet anything it was only that. That's how CAG works.

You're right. I should listen to people who know what they're talking about and have the best interest of others in mind. You, however, act like a douchebag on here, so why would ANYONE listen to you? I've seen your posts, and a lot of them are calling out other members for things that are no big deal. So, yeah, sorry if I didn't take the advice of a fool.

As the great Obi-Wan once said, "Who's more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?" I've never been a follower.

Exactly!

Not me, I'm beloved.

...and look what happened.
I've never been a follower.
Then don't complain when you're banned for not following the rules
