Wii $250 - Nov 19th - The Nintendo 2-Day Press Event Thread!
Yeah , but the 360 power will run circles around the wii totally different kind of thing and at moment you can get 360 on sale for 350.00 which I seen tons of. And what 10% discount?
If I needed eye candy, then yes, the 360 will run circles around it, and yes they are totally different experiences.

But as far as I know, they are both video game consoles, and I'm only interested in getting one right now. Which one gives me more game for my money? Wii.

And I should be honest, $400 in EB store credit only cost me about $150 in cash, but I will have no problem spending the same amount at Best Buy should EB fuck around and not have enough in stock.

Well I pretty much perdicted everything Nintendo has revealed, except fot the date, which I was hoping would be in Nov. No biggie, gives me more time to save up.

I could care less about owning more wii-motes and nunchucks, I doubt I'll ever play multiplayer on one screen anyhow. Thankfully, the classic controller is only $20. I wonder, is it a comeplete controller, or just a shell?

Other than Super Mario World & Super Mario 64, have there been any other announced VC games? BTW the nintendo point system kicks ass.

The classic controller plugs into the remote in place of the nunchuk.

He could be a store employee who get's 10% all items, or he could be opening a target credit card to get 10% his entire order that day.

It will be a busy month!

10/31/2006 - Final Fantasy XII
11/07/2006 - Gears of War
11/14/2006 - Final Fantasy III
11/19/2006 - Zelda, Wii Sports, Monkey Ball??, Red Steel

No complaining for lack of Christmas options! lol

Wrong. The Wii is also a Weather experience.

Prepare to experience the 10-day forecast as you never have before: with Nintendo's new Wiimote. Want to see further than 10 days? Just scroll the forecast with the optional Wiimote Nunchuck.

 I actually see my fiancee using it for that more than I play games. Hell, that might sell my parents on a Wii. No more staring at the Weather Channel for hours every morning!

Cool, sounds a little clucky, but I'll get used to it.
I'll just be snagging the one controller off the bat. Wait for some retail sales to get another two.

I guess the reason I'm not really upset is because I can walk out of EB with a Wii, two complete controller sets, Wii Sports, Zelda: TP and another game of my choice for $410 + tax. Meaning I can go home and start playing a multiplayer game for the same cost that it would take me to grab a 360 off the shelf with its single controller and nothing to play.
NOT TRUE! You can play the pack-in arcade title, as well as scores of demo (if you got live, that is)

Hmmm, now the OP gives 0 details about what was announced. Having these official threads created before any details are known is kind of a pet peeve of mine.

Oh well, I'm too lazy to search out Scorch's other OP to find some detail to paste in.

haha, have you all seen ebgames web site?

Super Mario Galaxy - ships 11/15/2006
Metroid Prime 3 - ships 11/1/2006
Super Smash Bros Brawl - ships 11/1/2006

You would think they'd not even have a date for these, much less that soon. Wouldn't that impact their sales since some dumbass will come along and preorder Smash Bros thinking it will be out in 1.5 months? Crazy.

Yep, real.

%10 discount = Find somebody that works at a retail store. It's not too hard.

Weather channel - Anyone remember how Shenmue used the actual weather paterns from 1985 (somewhere around there)? Games could possibly take a look at the weather info and synch with it (Boktai as another example...but inside)

Not really surprised by the prices. Just wish the VC prices were a tad lower. The launch date is alittle odd also.

Guess it is going to be a Wii, another wiimote, Zelda, and probably another game at launch. Depending on the list of vc games I might pick up a $20 card and the classic controller.

My parents have already expressed interest in the Wii, from downloading NES games to surfing the net but I can see the Weather channel sealing the deal for my mom.

As soon as the US version of Wii.com goes live, I'm sending a link to my parents.

Eh, it was up a second ago, looks like they're still in progress.

Exactly what im doing. My 2nd game is gonna be Red Steel.

I'm sorry and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the GC launch at 25000 Yen in Japan?

I have to say the VC pricing is a ripoff for NES except for the Dragon Warrior games and Final Fantasy and a few others but for most stuff the price is ridiculous. Lower the cost on the SNES by about a $1-2 and it might be more in line what people will pay. $10 for N64 I'll pay for OB64 and "Sin and Punishment", most other 64 games I don't care enough about to download.

i have a classic gaming library of over 200 games frome NES. sega genesis, dreamcast, snes, and n64 in my basement which I was planning on selling; however, I agree that the vc pricing is a wii bit outrageous. NES should be 3, SNES should be 4 and N64 should be 5.

any news on the component stuff... will it come with the component cables or will it bring the shitty composite cables.

If i can play my old cube came in progressive then that would be great..

Are vc titles straight ports?
any news on the component stuff... will it come with the component cables or will it bring the shitty composite cables
Thats what I want to know really bad they make it like were still living 20 years ago the component cables make a huge difference on my tv and I really would like not to pay an extra 40.00 for them.

not to mention the current composite cables included with cubes/n64 are junk. dont believe me try an svideo cable with your cube. big difference
$5-$10 for a classic game from nintendo seems like a steal when it comes from the company who sold nes games for $20 on gba.
You're joking right?! Have you paid ANY attention and see how cheap you can get NES games walking into a USED game shop?
You're joking right?! Have you paid ANY attention and see how cheap you can get NES games walking into a USED game shop?
You talking about good ones, or crappy ones?

i really want to know if this shiznit is region free and what happens if you Wii breaks, will all the downloaded data be lost? Also wheres my info on the external hdds through the USB cable.

""If you were to play Zelda all day to day for six hours, you'd only be scratching the surface..."

Also I have a few questions which may not be answered, but

1. what about wii airplane? I was really looking forward to that. Is that taken out of Wii Sports? Or IS IT PILOTWINGS in disguise for later????
2. what about some of the games such as Golf Pangea or Monkey Ball? Are they just in the launch window (which I have no idea what that means)?

No component cables included either?!?! People got on sony's ass for not having HDMI, but this is much worse. HDMI users are a very small %, but even non HDTVs have component inputs. So inorder to get PROGRESSIVE SCAN i have to shell out another $50 for an item I can only get off Nintendo's website. BULLSHIT!!!

Maybe I missed it, but I have YET to see anyone say anything about how launching 2 days AFTER PS3 will affect the Wii...couldn't they have moved this forward 7 days to grab those extra sales of kids/parents on the fence?

maybe they believe it's not necessary? With the shortage of PS3s and all, I guess Nintendo wants to launch once the hustle is over with? Makes no sense to me though. Wish it was first week of november.

While I don't disagree with your point that it's kiinda obnoxious not to have them, do we know they'll be $50 and only available from the website?

Possibly grabbing those extra sales of people not able to get the 1 PS3 shippewd to their state?
$250 Wii

Looks like Nintendo will be saving me money by waiting. I say this because by waiting I can have my buddy in Texas, who by the way works at GS, buy my Wii and get me 15-25% off; I think it is 15% because the other 10% comes from the GS card.

1. The japanese video showed a bit more of Airplane, and it seemed to show a cutscene with characters after. It may end up being a full game.
2. Launch window is around 60 days I believe. Both games where shown on that video clip as well.
You talking about good ones, or crappy ones?
I've found some pretty decent titles at my local goodwill and there are always yardsales and eBay game lots.

I agree with having no component cables in the box, if that is the case. Its a cost saving measure since the vast majority of people still wont need them. Of course I wont be needing them. They'll probably be 3rd party ones available if not first party. I dont think they are guaranteed to repeat the GC component scenario.

No profit is gained on the systems and discounts do not work on it, as I understand it.

There will probably be millions upon millions of people looking for the PS3 in the first week of launch. All 400k PS3s will probably be gone on the first day or two. In addition to the people already planning on getting a Wii, that leaves millions of people coming to the store looking for a video game system. That leaves the 360 and the Wii. Wii's cheaper. Most parents will go for that one.

The only reason I can see they may not have launched sooner is because they know PS3s will be gone, and they know a lot of potential PS3 buyers won't put $250 down on the Wii before they've tried to get a PS3. Still no reason they couldn't launch a week earlier other than potentially making it look like a hotter item once it starts selling out in lieu of the PS3.
i thought employees of eb/gs dont get discounts on hardware
We're talking about Nintendo not loss hardware like Sony and MS's shit.

So a Wii, 3 controllers, and component cables (if they are even available at launch) will set a person back $460? PS3 here I come.
We're talking about Nintendo not loss hardware like Sony and MS's shit.
You still don't get a discount on video game hardware at most places. I think only walmart still gives its 10% off discount on consoles.
