Hmm, if anyone cares, I've been digging through the computers at my local Costco almost every week to see if there was a Wii or Revolution entry and there has been neither. There is an item for the Tony Hawks Wii game however.

What really bothers me is that we had the 360 in our computers a couple months before it released so I was able to know the details and all.

Anyway, I'll keep everyone up to date of what I know, when I know.
Appreciate that. I am a Costco member and may get it here depending on when they get them and how they'll distribute them.

can anyone tell me if you preorder at the nintendo store in NYC, that you're guaranteed a copy even if you don't pick up at their midnight launch?

i'll put down the whole 250 dollars if they can guarantee my wii anytime i would like to stroll in.
Just got back from my local FYE. I preordered a Wii without a problem. Came out to be $54 something after tax and I was the 6th person in line. The guy there seemed to know what he was talking about and said that he wouldn't have any more information (how many they're getting in, if they're getting them in on launch) until probably late October. He also said that they couldn't gurantee them for Christmas or anything like that. I'm guessing if they DO get them in on launch, they will have more than 6 because of how many Nintendo is making. Wasn't 6 the minimum of how many 360s a store got at launch? If he calls and tells me they won't get any by launch, I can always get my refund and go hunting around for one. Anyone else have an FYE preorder story?

Man, I cannot wait for the Wii. Holiday season, here we come...
Take it for what it's worth, the guy at FYE told me that I'd have no trouble getting my pre-order because they been informed that they will be receiving Wii shipments every week or so. No supply problem.

And I dance a dance of joy.
Did anyone on the east coast try the (Hawaii) EB/GS pre-order deal to see if it's going to be nationwide yet?
I know you said east-coast, but it seems most if not all Gamestops at sticking to saying "October is pre-orders". People on the interweb are pissed now, think of the our-cry at the stores...

That's been the case at all the Gamestops I've talked to. One said there's a Gamestop manager's conference in early October where they would likely learn about Wii allocation numbers so expect pre-orders sometime in October after the conference.

hey guys any word if pre orders started today outside of hawaii? if so ill run out there now

what i dont understand is why ebgames cant just start taking pre orders now and just say you will get it as we receive them, no gauranteed date except number one is gauranteed on launch........kind of stupid to make us wait like this

They are covering their asses to make up for last years 360 shambel

I just got back from EB and the manager told me they aren't accepting pre-orders here yet because they haven't found out yet how many they will be allotted to each store. He said by the end of the month they should know and will start taking pre-orders.

I was previously told that the Wii pre-orders will be full price only, he said now it will be at least $50 down.

Not confirming anything, but this is what I was told this morning.

I was at GS today. They told me to keep calling back every day because, "We expect the SKU very soon" and that "it'll probably only be up for a couple of days."

They probably don't know what's going on, but you never know.

This is just yet another reason to say fuck gamestop and ebgames. Not only do they overprice their stuff, rip you off on trade ins and sell incomplete games in bad conditions but now they force you to trade in games to pre order systems....and then dont even gurantee you the system at launch or even within months of launch. fuck them. Even if you dont have a store like Game Crazy near you you have to have a TOys R Us, Best Buy, Target or SOME other place to support over them.

Called my local EB about preordering one, they said they are not preordering them at this point. Tehy said that they were waiting until they figured out how many they were getting from Nintendo.

My local FYE is no longer preordering.

I hope I get one.

i think it's been established that the trade-in malarkey was only for Hawaii. I guess we're waiting on everything else.

Lucky for me I live in California. I can check here and only run down to EB in the morning when someone on the east coast confirms they're doing preorders :applause: I don't have to get the sneers of the EB goons when i show up every morning to inquire.
Do people really bring out portable generators and actual home consoles? Thats really crazy. I was planning on bringing a few of my DSs and just playing that, and offering others to play.
If they do, I've never seen it. I'd find it more of a pain to lug all the stuff and set it up. That's why we have hand-held/portable consoles, isn't it?

I know its a good idea to get there really early, but what else should a n00b know? Haha.
If you're waiting outside a store (such as waiting for Best Buy to open), bring a lightweight folding chair. If you don't have one, at least bring a small blankie to set on the ground, so you can sit on the ground, even if the area is really grungy. Bring a drink and maybe a snack along, if you feel you're likely to get hungry. Or if you feel you might want to share with some of the folks you're waiting with, bring a box of Little Debbie snacks or something similar which are all individually wrapped.

And have fun. =)

Mk, so no official word yet.

I take it the OP or a mod will update OP as needed.

Keep us posted, peoples. We all appreciate the group effort going on here. :) If I learn anything, you guys will be the first to know.

Ahh. I'll be sure to keep that all in mind

In any case, its about 7:48 AM here in Hawaii. I'm going to head out now to my GameStop. Got all my trade-ins, my DS to play, and my camera.

I'll be back in a few hours with hopefully some new or updated information, along with some photos if its interesting enough to even take any.

/me prays that it isn't busy.

I hope they do the trade in deal at Gamestop here on the mainland so I can walk into my local GS and punch them in the face when they ask if I want to trade in games for a preorder.

Nice to see your pleasure in their attempt to make pre-ordering a more organized process.

lol

I ended up just giving my manager friend $600 cash and a list of names I wanted them preordered under. So the moment they can take preorders he will put them in the system for me at EB.

If Nintendo has adequate supply by the end of the year (even 2 million...4 million would be even better), i think they'll be in a fantastic position relative to Sony, and a good position relative to MS. A lot of people are going to be very sore at Sony for making it so hard for them to get a PS3...and many others who actually GET the PS3 will almost certainly have hardware hassles to deal with (thanks to the stability issues of the Cell processor, potential problems with fresh, low-end Blu-Ray drives, etc). This is just my own speculation, but unless Sony pulls off a miracle in early 2007, I think the real competition this generation will be between Nintendo and Microsoft.

I called GS before and apparently GS/EB will have only 5-6 units per store. I highly doubt that for some reason.. but I could be wrong or they're wrong.

It makes me feel like I need some CAGer to stare at the Preorder thread all day and the moment it comes out, they can call/text mw so I don't have to be so anixous for this preorder -___- damn this wait.

Going to wait on Hack's experience to see if it's worth trekking down to GS during my lunch break. I'm not even sure I have $50 worth of trade-ins, but I brought 'em with me just in case. If things look good, I'll give it a try and post my experience. 9:37am here in Hawaii as I post this--stores don't open until 10:00am HST, iirc.

EB Games said they're accepting pre-orders for PS3 in October, so maybe the same for the Wii? Sorry if it's a repost, haven't read this because I'm not getting it on launch so I don't really care, just though someone might be interested.
/\ I thought it was discussed a few pages back about it being not very reliable...

Didnt somebody Wikipedia it?
Yes I did

i would do that if you would also text me if you found out before me

i pre-ordered a Wii from Lik-Sang...so if i don't get that...i'm just going to camp outside of walmart...instead of waiting for all this pre-order bullshit
/\ I thought it was discussed a few pages back about it being not very reliable...

I just got the Wikipedia page to work. I couldn't find the discussion on it here, is it in this topic or another one. The only negative I saw on it was that 5 years ago 500 peoples credit card info got stolen. It's probably safer now than it was 5 years ago, has anyone here ordered from them before.

Game Crazy is also doing pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii. $50 downpayment for the system, and you can also reserve up to two games $5 a piece. Hopefully you have one near you if your other options have run out of Wiis.

When did Game Crazy start?
Game Crazy is also doing pre-orders for the Nintendo Wii. $50 downpayment for the system.
From my understanding that is just what it is, a downpayment. I pre-ordered mine there last winter with a downpayment of $50 and I was second on the list. I checked back last month to confirm my spot and they are like "there is no list, the $50 is just a downpayment and does not reserve a spot or guarantee you a system at launch." Maybe your GC is different, but this is my experience from it. I just took my $50 back after that.
anyone think preordering wont be a problem since nintendo is pushing out so many units? I think i'm wrong, but who knows.
That's what I'm hoping. Worst case scenario, I camp out at Walmart, Target, or Bestbuy and get one at launch. Best case scenario, I sleep in and go sometime during the day.

Just came back from GS and ended up #3 on the pre-order list. Traded in some stuff (got the extra $10 store credit promo, too) and they gave me a voucher with my trade-in receipt which indicates I picked a Wii to pre-order (the other option is the PS3).

Sorry, crappy low-resolution camera phone pic warning:
Image01.jpg

Sounds like they are going to do a midnight launch thing as they said I'd need both the pre-order voucher and credit receipt to pick one up. Otherwise, I'll just get one...eventually.

Really no advertising and I was the one to mention the deal when I walked in, so this is about as soft a pre-sell as you could possibly have. They confirmed that this is just a trial program for Hawaii and that Hawaii tends to get a lot of these, possibly because of the small market and relative isolation.

One of the guys wondered if someone was going to get fired for "leaking" the pre-order deal before today, particularly since the news got all over the Internets.
Nice to see your pleasure in their attempt to make pre-ordering a more organized process.
Hey, it's bad enough they try and pimp their preorders to me over the phone and assault me with requests to sell my games when I step through the door of their stores.

The fact that they would try and get me to sell my games at a ridiculously low price to them for nothing more than a suggestion that I might get the system eventually is literally insulting.

I think Sony and Gamestop are having a secret competition to see which one of them can say/do crazier things.

I love how GS still tries to sell me "new" games that are opened. That's never gotten old. Neither has telling them that an opened game isn't new and leaving the store.
Not afraid of all the Fatwalleters buying all the units up? Those guys are the assholes of the universe.
No joke. I really dislike that place.

Huh WTF?
"A spokesman for the retailer told us today that the pre-order stipulation is real, but stressed that it is only a test, and one that the company is conducting only in Hawaii. He also said the test began and ended today, and that the company doesn't have an official nationwide program for pre-orders yet. It's unknown if Hawaiian customers will get another crack at pre-orders in the nationwide program, whatever form it may take. "
I guess the leak was such bad PR that GS decided to kill the promo? This answer pretty much indicates that, considering the flyer Hack got was today through the 25th (one week only).

Ah well, no biggies for me--as long as no bundles are involved and I still get a Wii, I guess I'm ok with this...
