I was thinking the Second Game would be the Orignal Super Mario Kart (SNES) but we already got Mario Kart 64.

I'll take a wild guess: Samurai Showdown (Neo-Geo)...haven't seen any Neo Geo games released for awhile now.

I'll definitely faint if Dracula X: Rondo of Blood comes out on Monday.

I highly doubt we will get Super Mario Kart. I would love it, but in all honesty..no :whistle2:(
MKWii has been out in Japan and Europe for a week or 2 now, and neither of them got it, so why should we?
Remember: Nintendo

Am I correct in assuming that Wii Ware games will be rated by ESRB? I would think so, or at least done voluntarily by Nintendo to maintain their kid-friendly image. If so, I wonder how this will be "enforced?" Via Parental Controls I suppose, but I can just see the first lawsuit if an "M" game is bought by a youngin' by "mistake..."

All games will be ESRB rated. Parental controls enforce raitings on VC and Wii Ware games.

Now as for the kid thing, the VC already has M rated games (Splatterhouse comes to mind). Since you have to make a purchase to have access to the games there really isnt much legal standing to sue on, not that there was ever any standing in those cases.

NIN-TEN-DO...and this commercial really uses that word...you should know this:
Splatterhouse is actually rated 'T"

I was wondering myself if there are any "M" rated games on Virtual Console?
Apparently, Eternal Champions isn't...which is amazing, since you can throw people into giant fans. Their finishing moves were messy.

Wikipedia's list of American releases doesn't have anything rated above Teen in it; the four Interplay games (Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, Clayfighter, and Boogerman) aren't rated but are guaranteed to be Teen at worst.

So...no. No M-rated Virtual Console titles yet.

Everything that happened more than 10 years ago is acceptable, so T is the highest any VC game will get. Night Trap will get an E.

I would love if samurai shodown would come out on VC. but that aint gonna happen since they are making a samurai collection, placing it on a disc and probably charging 40 bucks for it.

Hmm my roommate said earthworm jim will be on the VC sometime soon? He said he read it on Kotaku. Any info on that?

Also I am shocked to see rondo of blood on the VC. Nintendo has been shafting us with other great titles like that (such as Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, etc...) and I thought this would be another one. Still it has to come over here but I am sure it will.

 Seriously, these 1 games per week are getting kinda played out.

Wii-kly Update: One New Classic Game Added to Wii Shop Channel

There’s one new game for the Virtual Console™ this week – and it’s a double. Double Dragon™ is a true action-fighting classic. This side-scroller brought the arcade original into the home and laid the groundwork for numerous sequels. It’ll get your nostalgia engine fired up. Now go put the hurt on some bad guys and save Marian.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Double Dragon (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated Everyone 10+ — Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points): Double Dragon begins with Billy Lee’s girlfriend, Marian, being kidnapped by a group called the Black Warriors. They demand to know the secrets of Billy’s martial-arts style in exchange for his girlfriend. However, Billy won’t stand for these underhanded tactics and decides to rescue her himself. Help him fight through city streets, buildings, jungles, temples and various other locations in a quest to find his girl. He’ll gain experience by using different fighting techniques to obtain more hearts, which will unlock more powerful techniques to use against his enemies. Keep an eye out for crates, boulders, whips, bats, knives and even dynamite along the way, as Billy can also use them to annihilate opponents. Armed with his mysterious and powerful martial arts, help Billy pummel his way through an array of goons, gang members and other Black Warrior scum to free Marian from their clutches.

The list of downloadable games is updated weekly on Nintendo’s Online Press Room at press.nintendo.com. For more information about Wii, please visit wii.com or contact:

I mean I understand that DD is a decent game.. but still. C'mon.

I don't mind the one game if that one game is amazing like Super Metroid or something, but for a game like DD, meh there should be another one.

Well there goes another week where I save my points again. Maybe next week I can break my month and a half rut of not buying any VC games, lol .

I wouldn't mind it as much if it was the Master System version. The NES version just down right sucks when compared to the MS version.

Very true. I was just discussing with someone today about how great the Master System version was. I think I still have two or three copies of it somewhere (including one of the blue label versions). A friend with multiple copies once took a cartridge apart and took a needle and carefully scratched and poked at the important pieces until when he played it bizarre stuff would happen on the screen. I think he was a pioneer of ROM hacking.

How about a one game release in a month and make it Super Mario RPG? I think this is the sixth time I've come into this thread demanding Super Mario RPG. You're talking to Nintendo about this, right Lilboo?

I hear he's raping Japanese people, but that's not because of Super Mario RPG.

Yes I am. It took 6 shots before I could get Reggie into bed, and after that nothing happened. Don't worry guys, when you see Super Mario RPG you have to think "Woah, LB totally took care of Reggie. That's sick and yet I'm excited for Mario RPG!"

On that note, it may even require me & the SquareEnix team. Yes, I said team. So you all BETTER thank me when you all see SMRPG.
I hear he's raping Japanese people, but that's not because of Super Mario RPG.
 I'm done with them for now. I took 125 japanese people's innocence once Brawl got delayed again (to March 3, or whenever it was). But I'm worn out now

Good to know I won't need to spend any points this week. There are still a ton of games I want to download, but I think I should get a Classic Controller first.

I've heard a few people say that SNES button mapping is awful on the GameCube controller. How bad is it?
Conkers Bad Fur Day; n64; Released 2001
Unless Rare's titles start making VC appearances, don't count on it.
Where is my TMNT 2? I'm not crazy about TMNT 3 though.
I have TMNT the manhattan project, and TMNT 2 kills it.
Just like streets of rage 2 kills 3.

Just beat starfox 64 for the first time. I took the route straight up the middle and it was awesome. Can't wait for starfox 1 and 2!

Hey guys, look at what's in the newest Nintendo Power. I thought it was pretty interesting. Remember that poll for most wanted vc games they had a while back? Here are the results:

Readers Most Wanted
1. Earthbound
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Mother
5. Majora’s Mask

NP Staff
1. Mega Man: The Wily Wars
2. Terranigma
3. FF6
4. Super Mario RPG
5. Rocket Knight Adventures

COME ON NINTENDO!

I wonder how many votes for Goldeneye 64 were up there, and then subsequently trashed.

Also, wtf@NP staff picks. I'll give you the middle three, but Rocket Knight Adventures? Please. MM:TWW seems ok in comparison.

Nevermind that FF6 probably won't show up, at least not for a long while. Square is still convinced the Japanese don't like digital distribution for their games. Plus, they can remake them on the DS/PSP for the rest of time.

That's almost my exact list except trade Chrono Trigger for Phantasy Star 4. I originally had CT, but decided against it as it was a square game.

It's a shame that we'll probably only see MM and SMRPG from that list, if that.

I looked at the staff list and immediately thought "the fix is in."

They had to have only put games that we have an actual shot of seeing on VC.

Japan:

Famicom Tantei Club II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (Super Famicom, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom

WOW only 2 games for them?! They must have done something wrong!!

2 weeks till WiiWare!! I'm excited! I want my fuckin ENC!

And what's wrong with Rocket Knight Adventures?

And yes I agree with the thought that they must've picked games that they knew would actually have a chance of showing up (although that still doesn't completly explain FF6).

There's nothing explicitly wrong with RKA. I'm just being a punk because I want Earthbound and Mario RPG and all those games that Nintendo loves to prevent me from having.

On a slightly related note, and in an effort to make the VC not suck as hard as it is this week, I have two small presents for this thread.

There's this guy named Gamejew that writes a bunch of goofy songs that tend to be videogame (specifically Nintendo) related. He's created something called the "Mushroom Singdom," where he basically sings about the VC releases. Sometimes he just says how good/bad they are, sometimes he puts original lyrics to the game's background music, and sometimes he just writes something completely original. Generally the songs are comedic in nature.

I recorded the songs he made for Fantasy Zone and Bases Loaded. I think both of them are great (I listened to everything else he has, and none of them really stand up to these two). You can find videos at Youtube, Gamevideos, Gamejew.com, and mannmade.tv if you want to hear anything else. These are both on Rapidshare, so I hope that works for everyone. Also, I made up the titles myself - I don't think he has anything official for them. You'll hear a bit of chiptune at the end of each song, as that is how the videos end, and I wanted to preserve that part.

If he finds this post, I hope he's okay with me making these MP3s available. I also hope someone finds them as enjoyable as I do.

I think the better question is where is tmnt turtles in time. I love tmnt 2, and 3 as well.

Like Plinko said, I really doubt the accuracy of that second poll. That said, Terranigma looks interesting and more import games are always nice (especially since this one apparently already has an English translation). I'm confused by The Wily Wars being first (especially since that wasn't a particularly good port in the first place); given that the Mega Man Collections exist for the GameCube, it'd make more sense to grab a used copy of that because you'd be spending a lot less money to get more games and the few bonus features included on the disc.

As far as the reader list...I'm not sure I'd get Majora's Mask, but if Nintendo released the other four, they'd get my $30 for them the day of release. I'd have to imagine they already know that, though.

Those are some interesting numbers. I'm surprised that Pokémon Ranch sold that many copies

Honestly, I'm leaning towards getting three of those four off the bat - save for mojipittan (which is apparently a Japan-only word game), I think the rest of the list is worth getting. I've finally got Pokémon Diamond (so there's some value for Pokémon Ranch, if only for the freebies), and FFCC and Dr. Mario are both going to see a lot of play time just because of what they are.

Online multiplayer Dr. Mario makes me excited. Does that make me a nerd? :whistle2:k

I've got a feeling that game would be bigger than the 512MB that the Wii has inside of it, unfortunately.

I would buy all of those games at fucking $10 a pop except for Megaman and Majora's Mask because I already have Megaman and don't want to replay Majora's Mask. Though Nintendo likes to be dicks about everything so the chances of seeing most of them is not good

Earthbound was a no brainer, but I'm glad someone besides me thought of the Wily Wars...

It was published by Nintendo.

That makes it unique among Square-developed games, as far as SNES RPGs are concerned.
