This week, Europe got Puyo Puyo 2 - (Sega Genesis/900 points), Break In - (Turbografx/700 points), and Cho Aniki - (Turobografx/900 points). These games are part of the second Hanabi Festival.

Thanks for that :)
So, does this mean that those games will ONLY be available for a short time again? That kinda sucks that they get games for a temp time and then they disappear

First off, I demand Stinkycheese live up to the bold statement presented above.

Second, a friendly reminder that Wiiware launches on Monday. I plan to get Lost Winds, the Square game, and Dr. Mario. Depending on what others say about the other games will determine if I decide to get more. Please let your fellow CAGs know what is and what is not worth it, and please be sure to help out other Wii owners in general with some general comments via the Nintendo channel.

Third, do we know what is being released on Monday for the VC? This is possibly the only time I'll hope it is not Earthbound, as I'd fear it would be overshadowed by Wiiware in a most heinous way.

You demand he live up to "living in Europe"?
That he posts impressions of Cho Aniki.

Gaaaaaaaawwwwwwd. I'm going to my room and I'm NEVER COMING OUT AGAIN.
Silly Strell. Thinking you'll be safe from my annoying ways in there. HAHAHAHA.

Dr. Mario and the FF:CC game are the ones I'm planning to get at the moment, though I'm open to more. If Pokémon Ranch is up at launch, I'll go for it; if not, Defend Your Castle, Critter Round Up, and Gyrostarr all look interesting...but I ain't made of Wii Points, so I'll pick and choose based on how many I've got left after my initial purchase.

Whenever Tetris and Bomberman launch I'll go for those too; the promise of those franchises with online play sounds great, and won't cost me an arm and a leg like Tetris DS would now.

And for the record, the official name of the game is Dr. Mario Online Rx, according to the WiiWare videos. :)

I cleared up A LOT of shit, and I have 401 free blocks. So, I could probably download 1 and 1/2 WiiWare titles? No word on the VC for Monday..and not even a DEF list of the WiiWare titles either.

I am DEF getting Dr Mario. I'll also be waiting to see what people say about whatever games come out. I want to be interested in the My Life as Queen King game, but I'm not. Lost Winds is made by Square? I'll be honest, I really am only looking forward to Dr Mario ... and Pokemon Ranch
But knowing me I'll end up downloading them all
Lost Winds is made by Square? all
I think he was referring to FF: My Life as a King as "the Square game".

I'm definitely getting Dr. Mario as my mother loves the game. A nice late Mother's Day gift.
II'll be honest, I really am only looking forward to Dr Mario ... and Pokemon Ranch
:oops:since when do you get . I am gonna get PR also. It sounds like a good distraction, so what if it's not really a game. I'm running out of room for all my pokemon i'm transfering from GBA, its at minimum a storage place.

Well, I don't know mich about PR. To me, it looks like it's just merely a Mii Plaza for your Pokemon. The problem is, that's really hard to justify points + space, IMO. But again, if it offers more then that..then that's ok. If it's 500 points, it'll be easier. 1000 points would be kind of hard to use for this.
1000 points would be kind of hard to use for this.
i think my pokemon are worth that much to not delete them. Plus i got some points at about 75% cost at wlamart, so I'm paying like 7.50 for it.

BTW anyone else find the "info video"-woman's voice annoying?

I'm not quite positive on how it works, but Wikipedia says people without a DS will be given one Pokémon per day. I'm hoping you'll still get the freebies regardless of owning the game, but I haven't been able to tell on that yet.

Well while we wait, I'm just curious to know about how everyone here sets up their channels. (That means games, too)

My main page is set up like this
Disc Channel - Mii Plaza - Photo Channel - Wii Shop
Forecast Channel - News Channel - Nintendo Channel - Mario Kart Channel
Sin & Punishment - Super Metroid - Harvest Moon - Super Mario Bros 3

Then after that, on the next 2 pages I have them set up alphabetically, by system..
NES - SNES - N64 - Gen - TG16 - MS

 Am I the only one who is weird about this?

I haven't actually changed the order of the channels at all, so here's what I've got:

Page 1:
Disc Channel - Mii Plaza - Photo Channel - Wii Shop
Forecast Channel - News Channel - Everybody Votes - Check Mii Out
Kirby 64 - Pokémon Snap - Kid Icarus - Yoshi's Cookie

Page 2:
Mario Kart Channel - Nintendo Channel

I may have to adjust this once WiiWare launches. :whistle2:k

And if anyone's wondering, yes I do have a crapload of empty space nn my Wii right now.

Ugh. I tried to turn it on to see, and the power wouldn't come on. I had to unplug it to reset everything.

Disc - Paper Mario - SMB2 - Mii Plaza
Forecast - Kirby's Adventure - Pokemon Snap - Check Mii Out
News - Shop - N Channel - Votes
Photo on Pg 2

I haven't been into the whole VC thing, so I have plenty of room left, and I can still delete some crappy rental saves if I need more than 1200 blocks (which I might, considering Pokemon Ranch is going to be insane). Yeah, I'm not helping with the whole space problem.

Now that I think about it, it probably shouldn't be more than a couple hundred blocks, but think about it, you've got a space where 1000 pokemon (sprite, info, and probably some sort of cute animation related to some moves) can be all on one screen together, interacting with you, the rancher lady, and each other (they have campfire singalongs, ohlawd).

I don't really have mine that organized, it's just channels on first page, then VC games divided by system.

I decided to finally take out the Everybody Votes and Check Me Out channels to free some space, so now I have about 800~ blocks all ready for Wiiware. Bring it on!

I need to delete some worthless channels. I sorta had fun with the "Everyone Poops" channel for awhile but now it's like a chore I have to perform every time I turn on my Wii.

EDIT - Oh, and my VC games are sorted first by system, then by the original release date. At the moment, NES goes from Super Mario 2 to Kirby's Adventure.

my order is
Disc-Nintendo-News-shop-everbodyvotes-mii-checkmiiout-weather-photo
second page has bubble bobble and Kirby's adventure. the only 2 vc games i have so far. Saving points/space for wiiware.

I'm a little concerned about the size of pokemon ranch as well. I only have about 800 blocks open after I put the everybody nintendo channel on my wii. I wonder if that will be enough?

The check mii out channel is my favorite because now I have guys like Chewy, Dwight, Mr. Bean, Chuck Norris, Alf, and Beavis and Butt-Head in some of my games. That makes it so much better than generic mii's.
I Wish I could delete the weather and news channels.
I had everybody voetes for like a week before I found out it was just a waste of space.

So do we get new ds downloads every 4-5 weeks on the new nintendo channel or what?

I think this is it, guys.
No Dr Mario? :whistle2:k

NINTENDO LAUNCHES WiiWARE:
AN OPEN PLAYGROUND FOR CREATIVITY
Downloadable Game Service Delivers Developers’ New Ideas Directly to Consumers

REDMOND, Wash., May 12, 2008 – Nintendo’s Wii™ console has already changed the way people play games. Now its new WiiWare™ service decisively tears down limitations for how developers create games – and the way people receive them.

Starting today, Wii owners with an Internet connection can download new, creative games from a wide range of developers, from large publishers to indie shops. By reducing the barriers that make console game development prohibitively expensive, WiiWare showcases original ideas in the most democratic environment in industry history, connecting the people who make games more directly with the people who play them.

WiiWare frees developers from the traditional constraints of video game development. WiiWare lets developers experiment with big ideas and small budgets to the benefit of players everywhere. Newer, smaller teams now have an outlet for their creative ideas. The constantly growing WiiWare library will have a regular flow of unique video gaming experiences consumers might not otherwise have access to.

“WiiWare is to the video game industry what independent films are to Hollywood,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “WiiWare lets developers experiment with new ideas and experiences. Combined with our collection of classic Virtual Console games, Wii provides one-stop shopping for the greatest games of the past – and the future.”

WiiWare games are easy to download. Just go to the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel, find the game you want, redeem Wii Points™ and start the download. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. New games, at various Wii Point values, will be added to WiiWare on Mondays. The newly launched Nintendo Channel on Wii will let people view videos of and read information about WiiWare games and other Nintendo products. Users also can see player opinions to help them decide what to play next.

Today, the inaugural lineup of WiiWare games is just a taste of things to come:

FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES®: My Life as a King™ (Square Enix, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Suggestive Themes, 1,500 Wii Points): FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a King takes a legendary franchise and launches it into the realm of simulation gaming. Players are challenged to rebuild a kingdom, leading its young king on a path of discovery through an adventure bristling with mystery and intrigue.

LostWinds™ (Frontier Development, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 1,000 Wii Points): A fresh, enchanting platform adventure that puts the power of the wind in the palm of your hand – from raging tornados to the gentlest breeze. You’ll wield your Wii Remote™ controller to power Toku’s jumps and glides, suspend and smash enemies, meet friends and solve puzzles using LostWinds’ novel, intuitive and playful control system.

Defend your Castle™ (XGen Studios, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone – Cartoon Violence, 500 Wii Points): Defend your Castle takes place on a grassy plain surrounded by invaders. You are the commander of your castle, and it is your duty to fling the invading enemies sky-high, watching them plummet to their demise. As you progress, add powerful spells and upgrades to your arsenal for repelling the attacks. How long can you hold them off?

Pop™ (Nnooo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 700 Wii Points): Pop bubbles to score points and stop the timer from running out. Pop can be enjoyed by anyone – casual gamers can simply play to pop bubbles and keep the game moving, whereas advanced players will need to pick their shots rapidly and accurately and generate combos to maximize their score.

V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack™ (High Voltage Software®, Inc., 1-4 players, Rated T for Teen – Simulated Gambling, 700 Wii Points): V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack re-creates the casino experience, with fully animated players and a realistic Las Vegas dealer. Single players can increase their bankrolls, while multiple players can engage in a head-to-head mini-blackjack tournament.

TV Show King (Gameloft, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): TV Show King transforms your living room into a real TV quiz show studio where you’ll face the challenge of answering more than 3,000 questions across six different categories. Compete against family and friends and use your Wii Remote controller in original ways to make it to the finals to see who can win the greatest amount of cash in one final, deciding duel.

Nintendo’s Wii-kly Update Takes a Week Off

To celebrate today’s launch of the new WiiWare™ downloadable game service for Wii™, there will be no Virtual Console™ games added today. But don’t worry – next week the Wii-kly Update will be back to its regular Monday schedule, bringing Wii owners information about the best classic Virtual Console titles and coolest new WiiWare games.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I never heard of the TV show game,
Apparently, NEXT Monday is going to be Earthbound (May 19) but again..we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Kinda sad that no Dr Mario or Pokemanz Ranch.. :(
Oh well. I'm not 100% sure this is real.

FFCC and LostWinds get.

Where'd you hear this?
The same ass who posted the PR on GFaqs,
I highly doubt it, but whatever.
No Dr. Mario? Damn. I guess it's just Lost Winds now for me, I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks of the other titles.

I guess I'm not really surprised if there were no VC titles since it seems the Wiiware release might overshadow any game that would be released on the VC, although I hope this doesn't become the norm where we only get one or the other every week...

So just King Game and Lost Winds for me on Monday then, unless I hear King Game sucks.

Somehow, I just knew that Wiiware would fuck up VC releases.

Oh well. I guess it's not a total loss, considering I've only bought 2 games this year/since Christmas, since the majority of the releases aren't fit for human consumption.

Oh, and releasing Earthbound one week after Wiiware - which I'm guessing will also have at least one Wiiware title - is suicide for the title.

NoA cannot make it any more fucking clear that they hate the series and are tired of all the fans. It's almost enough to make me drop Nintendo forever and just go get a goddamn PS3.

I just bought a wii points card today and added them in anticipation of Dr. Mario. I hope this list is incomplete, because I am just as excited for Dr. Mario to be online; as I was to play Mario Kart Wii.

A crushing blow to my manhood.

Hmm.

This list of titles is unexpected, to say the least - I've never heard of the Blackjack or T.V. Game Show titles, and Pop doesn't sound familiar either. A lot of the games that were supposed launch titles are nowhere to be seen, and we don't have any first-party Nintendo games up either. This isn't at all what I had in mind for the initial slate of releases, and the lack of Dr. Mario (despite it being the main focus of every fucking WiiWare video they've posted) and Pokémon Ranch is a big letdown.

I'm still planning on getting the FF:CC title, and I might go for Defend Your Castle with the 500 points, assuming I don't decide that River City Ransom is a better use for them.

What the hell kind of question is that? RCR is a better use of points in 99% of all possibilities.

I'm going to get my lead pipe and smack you with it.

I have to agree with Strell, it is disappointing this screws with the VC release schedule, especially since none of these really appeal to me. I hope we don't see the VC releases continue to suffer, ie: Oh look a new WiiWare game this week, no VC games! I think that Nintendo may be having trouble acquiring VC titles or something, because they've continued to slow their releases drastically since launch, down to 1 or 2 a week recently. We'll see what happens I guess.

BARF!

I don't think I'll pick anything up. I was ready to spend $40 because I was hyped, but this pretty much took it all away. I still hope we get a few more games on launch just to surprise us. I need Okiraku Ping Pong.
I think this is it, guys.

Wait where did you hear about earthbound? I loaded myself up with 2000 points yesterday bringing my total up to 3500. I just may be in for both FF (that is if the DLC for this game is not that huge to the game) and Lostwinds considering that Earthbound (or something as good) doesn't come out next week.

Well it's really not screwing up the schedule, as we are still getting an update on Monday. It's just THIS Monday, that's all. Hell, there have been times where even JAPAN never got ANY games (VC or WW).

But maaaybe Dr Mario will show up. If not, maaaaaybe next week.

Also, lilboo, I demand you change the thread title.

"Dr. Mario is Missing" is going to give Nintendo horrid spin-off game ideas. Poor guy is whored out enough that they don't need to be mixing two separate games into something that would certainly be a portal to Hell.

What would be next? Mario Party Kart Brothers Teach Typing? fuck you.

 Glad to see you caught that :applause:

And like I thought, one of my google ads had an ebay link to "MARIO IS MISSING"
Dr Mario is Missing would be a great game,

Dr. Mario is Missing would never happen. It's like Dave Chapelle talking about hijackers on a plane with no white people.

"We have many demands, or else we kill all the black people!.....Hello?"

Bowser would capture Dr. Mario, and no one would give a shit.

But Dr. Mario is Mario, and Luigi isn't big enough of a star to let him get away that easily. He'd probably go after him again.

But no Mario would mean another Yoshi-centric platformer...
