So I bought 2000 Wii Points on Ebay for 16.50. The lady sends me the code but wait it's not the code. She sent me the small tiny text code on the very bottom of the card and not the code behind the silver scratch off part. I've emailed her numerous about it bit she hasn't respond back yet. I hope she gets back to me ASAP since I want SMRPG. Waiting blows :(
I want to laugh, but it's SMRPG, so something is stopping me.

So does anyone else think the graphics look really bad? My Wii is outputting 480p but text is hard to read and everything looks very mushy. Is this just me?

I think it might be the nature of the game with all of it's 3d models and whatnot. Haven't played it yet, still need to try My Aquarium.

okay, Helix and MA's shittiness have been experienced. On to Super Mario-ooo RPG... and by SMRPG, I mean Earthbound.
HEY LILBOO
Helix is 308 blocks
My Aquarium is 227
For the third time, Pong Toss: Frat Party Games is 121 blocks.

Just downloaded it and love the game so far ! (Of course, I loved all the Paper Mario games; but some less than others--I'm looking at you Super Paper Mario.)

Everyone needs to dl SMRPG so that Nintendo gets the message and gives us Earthbound.
one bad thing about downloads is you can ever resell them.
Yeah. Kind of like how when I quote someone, they can't un-say something dumb.

Awesome.
Now I'll take Earthbound, Phantasy Star IV, or something along those lines.
Preferably in the near future.
Thanks Nintendo.

just saying.. these games can add up very quickly. I was thinking about buying a Wii just for the downloads but then though Hell i could have up to 200 bucks wrapped up into the system on games that could never be resold

if the Wii breaks can you download the games into another system or are you mostly ##$#$#

best buy worker said your #$#$#

If you send your Wii to Nintendo for repairs you'll be able to re-download your titles (they are connected to your My Nintendo account). If you were to sell your Wii and then buy a new one you wouldn't be able to re-download them in that situation.

So you're not completely screwed if your Wii breaks (my disk drive broke and I didn't have an issue with my DLC), but you should know how the system works before making purchases.

so mostly if you have the Best buy warrenty that just replaces them your #$#$#$ then....

Do you have to send them in for repairs or can you take the systems to an local dealer (a nintendo repair center)
Is there anything I need to know about SMRPG before playing it? For example, in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, if you didn't do a sidequest before completing the fifth dungeon, you were forever barred from completing it and getting a helpful item. Anything like that in SMRPG?
There isn't really anything that would stop you from completing the game, fully. Since I *almost* beat the game, I can say that nothing that you may forget will come back and bite you in the ass. There are items that you can only obtain by defeating certain enemies, but those items would only help you completing the game and if you don't get them, then you would only have to beat the game without those helpful items.

One item that I can think of is the
lazy shell for mario. Best weapon in the game. You can only get it by getting 2 items that only certain enemies drop, if you lose them, sell them (don't be an idiot and sell them, I'm STILL kicking myself for selling one of the items, after 10+ years).

On a side note, I'm kind of disappointed in knowing that I can't run and jump at the same time on my wavebird controller. Well, you can, just the button placement makes it really hard. Still the amazing game that I remember 10 or so years ago. Can't wait to finally get my boy back (GENO!). And mallow still bites, just like I remember. Mario, Geno, Bowser team is a beast (terrible healing party though).

And maybe, just maybe, I can finally get my revenge on Culex...

I would love to see the download numbers for Super Mario RPG. Wasn't there a posting awhile back about how the numbers can be interpolated from other data Nintendo made available on their channel?

Gawd, now I need to free up space on my Wii. I think I will wait a little bit on getting SMRPG tho... at least until after I've finished Paper Mario. Great news tho!
So does anyone else think the graphics look really bad? My Wii is outputting 480p but text is hard to read and everything looks very mushy. Is this just me?
My look fine. I'm outputting 480p too, maybe its your tv? Have you tried 480i to see what it looks like?

Between SMRPG and Paper Mario , although I think SMRPG has more charm (possibly cause it was made by square but I can't say for sure) I think Paper Mario is the better game. Although SMRPG is better than Paper Mario 2.

My biggest gripes with SMRPG mostly stem from the game being a bit on the short side (for an RPG) but this really doesn't bother me as much now as it did before mainly cause I like my games shorter anyway. The other being about halfway through the game it gets a bit on the easy side (especially once you form the "dream team"). It's still a entertaining and fun game though and I'm happy that we finally got it.

I downloaded Super Mario RPG, and it's still one of my all time favorites, despite it's lack of difficulty and it's relatively short length. Once you get the Lazy Shell armor for Peach, she becomes all but invulnerable to every character in the game, including Smithy and Culex, which definitely drops the difficulty down quite a few notches, but I imagine without the use of the Super Armor or Mario's Super Weapon, the game becomes quite a bit more difficult.

Ok, I have to correct a previous post (cant find it so I cant quote it)...

I said that I wouldnt buy another game until Nintendo fixed the storage issue and that I didnt intend on deleting or playing the SD card cycle dance.

SMRPG made me change that stance and I ended up deleting the Check Me Out channel.

Since I dont have any other cruft left to delete I'm now considering this my last purchase, in earnest*.

*Exception made for Earthbound because, well, I'm all for supporting that quirky little number even if RPGs arent normally my thing.

I had to double check this thread to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. SMRPG!

My connection is crazy, it took 2 seconds to download this game. I haven't played this game since I was little can't wait to play it tomorrow.

edit: Over exaggerated, more like 8 seconds.

Finally...SMRPG has arrived!

I never beat this game but I do recall getting as far as having
Bowser and Peach
in my crew. How far is that, percent-wise?

Anyways, I need to stop playing Smash and finish my backlog.

Edit: Mad D, I timed myself on the download. It took less than a minute. :whistle2:(
I wish they would release FF3 SNES as well. That'll never happen though.
Yeah. Square feels only the games that have "no worth" are only suitable for downloads. And if they want to make them available, they'll throw it on a platform that they can charge you full price for (see Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger DS).

So that means, Wii's stuck with the games that nearly killed them before releasing Final Fantasy, along with Enix's awesome ActRaiser. Even more of an insult is that they threw Xenogears on PlayStation Network in Japan. So apparently they feel it has no worth or isn't worth remaking/porting.

Only reason SMRPG got released is because Nintendo owns the characters.

It's very unscientific, but once it pops up on the Nintendo channel you can get a very general idea of its numbers based on usage stats relative to something like Wii Sports.

I somehow missed this game during the SNES days (I was late to the SNES party being a Genesis fanboy back in the day). I can't wait to check this out but I'll have to see if I'll have enough leftover points to buy Mega Man 9 when it comes out. I also still have to finish Paper Mario so maybe I'll do that before I d/l SMRPG.

I think I'm most excited to buy the stupid Gameboy from that stupid mushroom kid and play Beetlemania for hours on end again.

I think I went insane with my Super Advantage one summer and spent 8-9 hours in one game racking up the mega points.

Yeah , you still had a little over halfways.. you didnt get to fight one of the more frustrating bosses in video game history, the power ranger knockoffs -_-V

You only missed it cause it was one of the last few big SNES games. In fact, it was the last Squaresoft title for a Nintendo console until many, many years to come.

It came around when SNES was slowly dying off while PlayStation and Saturn were starting things up.
Nintendo 64 came out that year if I'm not mistaken, that's why it was somewhat easy to miss this game.
I think they were 4-5 months apart, but yeah, I guess.

I remember a lot of friends saying ''fuck you'' to SMRPG when I told 'em it was the shit mainly because the game was $79.99. :bomb:
I know!! It was the first game I ever bought with my own monies too!
Weren't most SNES games like $70ish back then? :whistle2:k
I recall most SNES games being $60, with Squaresoft games around $80-90.

This is why I don't understand when some people bitch about the price of games now.

@ lilboo - Yeah, well, I remember buying Shining Force II (Please give us this!) for 92.99 at Best Buy when it first came out. Shit was hella fun on my Sega Nomad though (wish I still had that battery drainer). Most games were 59.99 though, with Square titles as well as other ''rare'' titles being priced as high as 90 bucks. :[
Phantasy Star IV was almost $100 when it first came out.

RPG developers sure were fucking greedy.
They used bigger cartridges to hold more memory, which translated to higher prices.

Greed has nothing to do with it.

Whether or not it's logical is a different thread but, if you could sell back games for like 15-40% of your points a lot of people would do it. Heck it would even better indicate which games people want.
Anybody still have thier Nintendo Player's Guides from back than? I just picked up one up for about $18, its in excellent condition too.
I was never able to find a strategy guide for SMRPG back then, so I just wrote in to Nintendo. They were nice enough to give me answers to every question I asked, including the location of the Lazy Shells, Grate Guy's Casino, and advice on how to get Mario's accessory for 100 Super Jumps.

...They sure seemed a lot cooler back then than they do now. :/

That's really cute! :applause:

I remember Mutant League Foosball and Road Rash using those bigger carts to implement the ''awesome'' graphics, and those games were only 49-59.99.

Greedy RPG devs. :nottalking:

The point was that it isn't important to this thread. At all. Especially when this one is thousands of replies long.

There's a host of reasons why the entire argument itself is stupid, but I don't feel like going into them, and they've been repeated over and over in discussions for a long time now.

Skitchin' and Road Rash were fuckin' terrible, Beef.

We need some Roadblasters, or Battletoads/Double Dragons up ins.

...And you need your Axem Rangers back just for the SMRPG mood.

Ask, and ye shall recieve.

Battletoads/Double Dragon was amazing, but gawddamn, was that game ever impossible to beat without cheating. I think the area I just couldn't pass was the space shooting area. fuckin' meteors and the shitty-ass controls for the spaceship.
