Wii Shop Channel Thread - 12/29 StarTropics II, Maboshi's Arcade, Cue Sports: Pool

I had no idea that the Wii Fit Channel existed. It seems like it might be useful when I wind up not having the Wii Fit disc in the machine all the time.
Anyway, installing it dropped me to 35 blocks. If Dr. Mario comes out next week, I'm going to have to start deleting games.
 
These game channels, IMO, are a brilliant idea. For Mario Kart, if you just want to add a friend you can just quickly go in and do so. Not sure exatcly what the Wii Fit channel benefistbenefits..but I still find these channels pretty cool. I see no reason why Brawl couldn't have one :nottalking:

But then, when you want to download a game, it just seems smart to get rid of these first :(

The Wii Fit channel lets you take the Body Test without having the disc inserted, I believe. I tried it out last night, but didn't remove the disc to really test it. It basically drops you in the Wii Fit Plaza. I clicked on "Training" and I think it streamed right to the disc. I imagine it'll prompt for the disc if not just have the button greyed out.

It also has a scrolling marquee telling you when your Mii last took the test.

And this is sort of on-topic, RE: channels: I wish that the scrolling marquees would be present on the channel when you open it up, like the News Channel does, I think. Often times the thumbnail image they provide in the Wii Shop Channel is too small for me to make out or the text in the Nintendo Channel is too long to read easily.

I thought you could get rid of the Photo Channel? It shows up in the channels part of memory management. Thought it could just be the update for it.

Dr. Mario isn't that great. Its fun and all but yea its just Dr. Mario except you can see your Mii dressed up like a doctor.
 
I just stopped by to say it's probably not a good idea to take any geography lessons from Cruis'n USA.

Mt. Rushmore is, in fact, not in the Grand Canyon.

Dr. Mario is that great. There is nothing more fun than Dr. Mario. I've played the Japanese WiiWare version and it's perfect. Same feel, same pace, same music.

Well yea by me saying its not that great, I'm saying its basically the same good stuff. Nothing to get overly excited about even if you're a Dr. Mario fanatic. The new Wii mode is pretty meh. It should lose points for having the same music though. Keeping the classics are great but it needs some variety. It just needs more meatiness to it. And we all love the meat. The best thing about it is wifi.

It only needs one song. And it has it. F E V E R. I am so glad there are no new modes. All I ever wanted was Dr. Mario on the VC, and Nintendo did one better by making it widescreen and online. Those were the only necessary improvements.

I really want to play Super Mario RPG again. It used to be my summer tradition, but I haven't played it in about 2 years :( I know it'll come out on the VC like the last month of the Wii's lifespan..but still :(

Super Mario RPG is definitely in my top 3 SNES games... We should get everyone on CAG to contribute to a cake fund; this will buy two new cakes every day which will say "Please release Super Mario RPG on Virtual Console" and we will have two people deliver them to the head offices of Square-Enix and Nintendo...

Or not... whatever.

You wouldn't wanna do it anyway. You aren't supposed to go into the Wii Shop Channel after doing such dirty things. And you have a brazillion Wii points to spend.
 
Damn, Critter Round-Up got a 4/10 from Wii-Ware World.

IMO, this seems like one of the better sites to frequent for WiiWare reviews. They seem to be dead on with their reviews since I agreed 100% on the four games I have already. It's ashame we are on our SECOND week of WiiWare and we already have garbage shovelware out :whistle2:x
Kinda glad I read a review before I got this because I almost did.

But then again, the 1000 points is probably a huge factor in this. This game looks no more then a $5 game.

I agree 100% boo, this site is top knotch in their reviews.

Didn't the developers of this game complain that the publisher wanted it at 1000, and they didn't think it was worth that much?
 
Yea, he was posting in here when the game came out this week. He was doing his best to justify the 1000 points, but I think he KNOWS that it's not worth it. He did say it before that it was Konami who said it was going to be 1000, not them. Kinda sad, IMO.

The developers hang on out on CAG? Interesting...

On a side note I wonder what is Nintendo's policy on price drops for WiiWare games.
 
One of the guys who co-founded the company posts here regularly. They mentioned his name in the CAGcast, Rolandx13 I think? Also they've giving the game away to 5 people.

The youtube videos of the game look okay. $10 worthy? Probably not. Its hard to justify compared to what $10 can get me over on XBLA.

I think I'm more impressed with that title because it's the highest priced game on WiiWare AND is the first game to offer DLC..which makes the game even more expensive...and IMO, it's worth it all.

I am forever going to boast about how great MLaaK is.

Where can we look for other upcoming Wii Ware? besides the wiki that has mostly announced stuff. The only upcoming thing I know of that catches my eye is the Strong Bad game.
