can stealth inc 2 be played with just the pro controller in single player or do u gotta use the gamepad?
The Pro Controller is only for co-op play. Everything else requires the Gamepad.

Grabbed the game yesterday. It's great. They took the test chambers of the first game and added an overworld outside of them to explore like a Metroid game. The co-op mode is a neat idea where one player controls the clone and the other is controlling a hacker to help them with the Gamepad (making invisible enemies visible, helping finish computer hacks, opening up barricades, drawing notes or vulgar things). It even has cool Miiverse support so that people can drop notes, hints, or random comments/drawings around the world as you're playing.

Well I'm 220 points shy, in assuming that's $22? Going to get Earthbound for sure and maybe a pair of GBA titles.

Edit- Actually I'll probably get Shovel Knight to go with Earthbound since I forgot about that.  Expect a sale on both of those soon, or even better next month's CN games!

to follow up on my Wii U problems, I ended up reformatting the system (delete all data and shizz, the last option in system settings) and reset it to my nintendo network ID.  I backed up all my save data to a thumb drive AND a 1tb drive, so I thought it would be an easy restore.

Nope, after I reattached my NNID to my wii u it... didn't recognize the external drives.  Retarded motherfucking Nintendo makes external drives unique for every install, so my old saves were all worthless now and I'd have to reformat the USB drives.  fuck it, the only game I really played was Mario kart 8 and a few levels of Mario so I went ahead.  I hoped Nintendo wasn't as fucking stupid as I thought they might be, but they are - all my Mario Kart 8 progress was gone, single player but also online multiplayer.  Its just dumb virtual points that mean nothing, but still pretty lame there is no online cloud sorta backup for save data.

So yeah I'm pretty pissed at Nintendo, I really hope they get out of the hardware and OS business in the next few years because as a software engineer, it makes me super angry at how insanely incompetent they are at it all.  A goddamn OS that can't deal with data corruption in any way, gives meaningless error messages that tell you absolutely nothing, and the most pathetic save data system someone can dream up.  Their games are terrific but everything else they do is wretchedly incompetent.

I'm also not buying digitally anymore on Nintendo platforms, its just a minefield of disasters.  Also using external drive from now on, the internal Wii U memory seems prone to corruption and as I discovered there is very little in the system to deal with internal flash memory corruption, it just seems to descend rapidly into a unusable state.

Not sure if this warrants its own thread, but word is all Nintendo refurbs now come preloaded with Mario 3D World. One hell of a deal.

If anybody is looking for some feedback on some of the games on sale, I'll post about what I've played so far:

Armillo - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played through the first set of levels. It's a decent rolling puzzle platformer where you control a rolling armadillo that is part collectathon and part puzzle platformer. There are upgrades that you spend your collectibles on to get more hearts, lives, etc.along with secret levels to unlock for some additional content.[/customspoiler]

Art of Balance - [customspoiler='Feedback']Beat the first world of levels and a few in the second world. Puzzle game where you're given differently-shaped blocks that you have to balance on top of various types of platforms in a stable formation to beat them, though you can cheese it a little. There looks to be a lot of levels plus an endurance mode and two multiplayer modes, so it's a decent amount of content for the price. It's just not the flashiest, most surprising game out there.[/customspoiler]

Blok Drop U - [customspoiler='Feedback']This reminds me of an old mobile game I used to play where you have a red block that is rest atop a series of other blocks and you have to tap on the other blocks to use physics to get the red block to rest safely on one of the platforms below. The visuals are extremely simple and there's no flash to the presentation, but it's a good game for $0.99.[/customspoiler]

Darksiders II - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played this on PS3 for a bit. Good action RPG sequel to the popular Zelda/God of War mash-up, though this game is for those with tons of hard drive space at about 9 GB.[/customspoiler]

DuckTales: Remastered - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played this on PS3. It's a great remake of the cult classic NES game that can be pretty hard.[/customspoiler]

Edge - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played a bit on PC and Wii U. It's a puzzle game where you control a cube and have to carefully roll it around levels quickly while collecting prisms along the way for the best grades possible.[/customspoiler]

Gravity Badgers - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played this on PC. The screenshots made this look like a shmup to me, but it's basically Angry Birds Space.[/customspoiler]

Knytt Underground - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on PS3/Vita. It's a Metroid-style game without combat and more of a focus on story and puzzles.[/customspoiler]

Little Inferno - [customspoiler='Feedback']Fun puzzle game about setting objects on fire in a fireplace, discovering combos to fill up your books, and enjoying the story that builds up as you play more of it.[/customspoiler]

Master Reboot - [customspoiler='Feedback']Neat little sci-fi/scary game that features a variety of potentially scary scenarios based on tropes and such.[/customspoiler]

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - [customspoiler='Feedback']Great installment of the popular action series from Capcom. It takes a bit to get used its eccentricities and the demo is bad due to just throwing you into a boss fight with no knowledge of the mechanics.[/customspoiler]

Nano Assault Neo - [customspoiler='Feedback']Good dual-stick shooter that features oddly-shaped 3D levels that end up causing the camera to go out of whack at times. It doesn't seem to have that much content to it.[/customspoiler]

Pure Chess - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played this on Vita. Great-looking chess game and features the various types of MP you expect of a chess game (mail, live, local). [/customspoiler]

Rush - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on Wii U. Cool little puzzle game where you place various types of signs on the ground of a level to direct cubes of various colors to their properly-colored holes. It's an abstract commentary on racism in the modern world, obviously.[/customspoiler]

SteamWorld Dig - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on 3DS, Wii U, PC, PS4, and Vita. Fantastic Metroid-inspired digging game that has the progression system of Metroid mixed with the digging and upgrade mechanics of a Miner Dig Deep (an early XBL Indie Games title).[/customspoiler]

Stick it to the Man - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on PS3. Good side-srolling adventure game based on a crazy premise of a guy named Ray, I think, that grows an arm out of his head that can be used to grab things and read people's minds and tasks you to use those abilities to solve puzzles and such.[/customspoiler]

Swords & Soldiers - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on PS3, Wii, and PC. Great side-scrolling RTS where you spend constantly-growing stashes of gold on spawning fighters to traverse small-ish levels, fighting enemies until they get to the other base and takes it down.[/customspoiler]

Toki Tori - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on PC, Wii U, and PS3. Great puzzle platformer that is all about using a variety of items to help you get to the end of each level.[/customspoiler]

Toki Tori 2+ - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on Wii U. Combines the core idea of the original and puts it into an open world side-scroller in the vein of Metroid. It only have two action buttons and you figure out how to combine them to preform all of the abilities you'll have at your disposal.[/customspoiler]

Trine 2: Director's Cut - [customspoiler='Feedback']Played on PS4. It's a great 2.5D action-platformer with a semi-Lost Vikings vibe to it that looks amazingly good and is fun to play solo or with up to two friends.[/customspoiler]

Thanks Frisky, that's helpful.

Anyone start to piece together ideas about what full-price items to buy off your wishlist before the DDP ends?  I'm thinking some of the more obscure third-party VC stuff (e.g. Demon's Crest and its ilk, not Mega Man) would be a good bet not to go on sale anytime in the near future, maybe some one-off first-party VC games that wouldn't be part of a themed sale.

Yeah that's why I was going with Earthbound and some GBA stuff originally. Earthbound hasn't had a sale yet and while it's in high demand it doesn't seem like something we'll see anytime soon. The GBA stuff doesn't seem like anything they intend to do sales on frequently either.

Would need to to get two with Earthbound though and there aren't two that really grab me as having to buy right now. Then I remembered about Shovel Knight. Hadn't gone on sale yet, may not go on sale soon, probably won't be a big discount if it does and I'm OK paying full price if it does.

It's been word for several months now.

It's a YMMV though. Only the 3D World refurbished models have it.
Starting this month they're loading it on all refurbs, from what I read.
It could be false, but I've seen quite a number of people inquire about having it installed on their recently purchased consoles. So it would make sense.

Edit: Googled, found this result: http://www.reddit.com/r/nintendo/comments/2p0fqw/super_mario_3d_world_preloaded_on_refurbished_wii/

Definitely not luck of the draw.

EA Games would be a good place to start if those interest you and don't have them elsewhere.

Virtual Console is probably another safe bet because the deals are usually never more than 30% or so, which means the potential loss is small compared to the more expensive types of games.

If you have Club Nintendo coins, the free games that are available right now would also be good sources of DDP points for those with coins to spare without having to spend money on them.

My haul so far-

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

Rock Zombie

Batman Arkham Origins

Ducktales Remastered

Darksiders 2

Shantae is exactly the same as the 3ds version. It looks like a gba game, kinda dissapointed that they couldnt at least make it look better on wii u. $20 is way too much too, wish nintendo has a cross buy discount at least.

Watch Nintendo announce on January 1st that DDP was a rousing success and to celebrate they're going to extend it for another year and di half off the best selling Wii U games that never got a sale!

Not sure what you're trying to say. If you read the comments, there are people with and without the game downloaded. It's a "Luck of the draw" because you're not guaranteed to get a refurbished 3D World Wii U.

Huh? I think you're misunderstanding.
Almost everyone there does have the download, and those that don't purchased their console before this began, it seems. Nintendo customer service even says they're loading the game on all refurbs now. There's no way this many consoles in a row were all 3D World console bundles, that also just forgot to get wiped.

Either way, it's a great deal for those who have gotten it and a good potential deal for those looking to pick up a Wii U when it restocks. Hopefully they continue to do this.

Just got my $5 ddp so I'm quite happy. Looking at getting Stick it to the Man as it's 50% off and I have $23 in credit, but I think I can wait and hold out hope for a larger discount. I have enough digital games in the backlog + Smash and DKC TF to keep me busy through Summer 2015

Are Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune any good? I figure they're something I can probably get the family to play with me.
Can't speak of Jeopardy but I got Wheel of Fortune months ago when it was on sale. It's a fun game (it's WoF to the tee), with lots of mini games to earn more $$$, a decent contestant creator and lots of stages/themes/backdrop items to unlock and lots of stat tracking. My only gripe is that when you do play on just the gamepad, no sound comes out. Kinda a bummer cause I can't hear all the WoF noises that you're accustomed to hearing.

I think my last purchases will come out of the following, depending on whether I want to try for one or two more credits (and barring anything else going on sale in the next 3 days):

Little Inferno

Wheel of Fortune

Jeopardy

Pikmin movies

Demon's Crest

Gargoyle's Quest II

Nobunaga's Ambition

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV

Ice Hockey

Adventures of Lolo

Super Dodge Ball

Stick it to the Man

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons

Ice Hockey was a major disappointment.

Jeopardy gives 50 CN coins for registering + whatever the post-play survey is, btw. Got it for the quizzes and Off-TV play @ $8, so was pleasantly surprised to see such a high CN coin value for it. :)

Edit:

Little Inferno is great, by the way. Same aesthetic as World of Goo but very different gameplay. It's about finding combinations to unlock higher levels and more complex combinations. What you combine to get various target combos can be quite smile inducing, as well. Played on PC, but the Wii U version should be just as good.

Saw similar discussion a few days ago. The consensus was the only pro of 3DS is portability, so it comes down to if you want that or not.
On here? I seem to have missed it if it was.

I can't find anything that seems amazingly different between the two that says X is better than Y unfortunately. Platform preference wise I'm more likely to play the 3DS in general and this type of game in general feels like a better fit to me on 3DS. I really wish there was some sort of cross buy or discount or something because I would buy both if you could get one half off or something, I just can't see paying $30 total.

I bought Earthbound earlier but then I realized that Shovel Knight is also on 3DS and now I don't know what version to buy!

Saw similar discussion a few days ago. The consensus was the only pro of 3DS is portability, so it comes down to if you want that or not.
You could also wait for the PS4/Vita version with extra content next year seeing as you have those systems Eldritch.

I got Shovel Knight on Wii U b/c of Pro controller and the Digital Deluxe program.

Thanks!... For making my decision even harder. :wall:

I think I would rather have it on Vita or 3DS though so back to trying to decide on something else.

for what its worth, I plan on rebuying on the Vita, that's how much I love the game. I played on 3DS and portability was a big factor for me, it took awhile to get used to the controls especially with the slide pad but eventually I beat it on hard mode and loved every minute.

Also, the levels are kinda short and well suited to portable playing, so if you do a lot of portable gaming the 3DS might prove the better option.

That is, the levels are short on normal mode, in hard mode there is only one check point halfway through and it will make them feel much longer haha.
