Considering picking up some games that aren't likely to be on sale any time soon, but I wanna wait it out for any potential sales. Wording on DDP website is a little confusing, though.

The deadline for earning points in the Deluxe Digital Promotion is December 31, 2014. Only eligible purchases or eligible download codes used in Nintendo eShop for Wii U before December 31, 2014 will qualify for this promotion.
So does that mean tomorrow is the last day? Or likely is that just poor wording y'all think?

I've seen them say 'through December' somewhere but considering new sales start Thursday and most people are paid on Friday, Tuesday would probably be the safe bet. Just in case.

Yeah, it says "through December" on the very same page. Oh well. If there's some surprise sale on Wednesday...

There's no telling with Nintendo. If you wanna take part in the DDP though I'd buy whatever today, there's no telling when "December 31st" really starts for them.

Watch Nintendo announce on January 1st that DDP was a rousing success and to celebrate they're going to extend it for another year and di half off the best selling Wii U games that never got a sale!
lol nope

FYI: Shovel Knight is on sale this week in Europe's Nintendo Download. We didn't get that Ubisoft sale they had this past week, but considering it's an indie and it was also on sale on Steam, this one is a little more likely to come our way. But who knows at this point.

Or it will be three months delayed like most of the stuff between here and EU with Nintendo. It's a long, slow boat ride over the ocean for all the bits.

So... is tomorrow the last day to buy something on the eshop to get the DDP credit?  "Before December 31st"?

More importantly, are there any more price drops/sales expected before it ends, or is there no reason to wait?  I might pick up the Hyrule Warriors DLC as well, even though I don't have the game yet, since I doubt it'll go on sale (at least any time soon) and it'd push me over the edge for the promotion.

Unless there are expected to be any December 31st sales, I'm just going to make sure all my purchases are final tomorrow.  Only reason I wonder if that's legit is because purchases on the 31st wouldn't post to DDP until the 1st.

Being $12.10 short I think I'm going to get Pushmo World and then Metroid from CN.  Don't really want Metroid but throwing away a few coins is better than a few dollars I suppose.

Now that I've bought Nobunaga's Ambition, Uncharted Waters, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV, expect an unprecedented sale on Koei strategy games soon!

Considering loading up on some Castlevania titles, since a sale on those seem rather unlikely. Never played, though. Which are the must haves?

I certainly do.
Cool, thanks. So get the GBA games and IV, then skip I, II, III and X?
Most people hate on Simon's Quest because it was different. I always enjoyed this game. The first castlevania is good, but the controls are very rigid and could be frustrating during boss battles. The difficulty on the first game is definitely high as well. Castlevania III was probably my favorite out of the 4 console games. All of the other handheld castlevania games should be bought up if you haven't played them. The formula for the GBA games are pretty much the same, but you'll enjoy them none-the-less if you like metroid-vania type games.

If you really don't mind paying full, go to Wii mode to get Rondo of Blood. Masterpiece.
If you want the best experience, it should be played on the TG-16/PCE.

I just picked up Darksiders 2 for $7.99.  I am having a blast just in the first 15 minutes of it.

I got the Wii U (my only next gen system) for the kids, and all the Mario games are great.  I wanted something I could play on my own downtime and this fits the bill and price.  I didn't need the newest and greatest.

Well, nothing new today. Looks like that's it. It was fun while it lasted, eShop, but it's over.
No, it's not me, it's you. I was only using you to get to DDP. Now you're just an often overpriced, clunky, digital media marketplace that sells things that aren't really mine and can be taken away or lost in an instant, with no system in place for recovery besides crying to customer service for an hour.
But hey, it wasn't all bad. Remember all those times I bought Club Nintendo games I didn't really want so I could eventually buy one I did want? Or that time Club Nintendo was giving away free retail games with Mario Kart that hilariously qualified for DDP, and I got them all just so I could buy Shovel Knight for free (and have yet to play Pikmin 3)? Good times.
Hopefully I'll see ya around. It just won't be often, because without 10% off, you're worthless.

Need $25 to get one last $5 credit, so I guess I'll pull the trigger on Darksiders II, Jeopardy, and one NES game (or upgrade some of my Wii VC titles), then use a CN Metroid code for the last 49 points. I considered buying other VC or GBA titles, but there's not much use in spending full price. Especially when Darksiders and Jeopardy will get me at 110 CN coins before post-play surveys.

The one open slot in my equation is NES game. I'm thinking either Mega Man IV (to go with V, VI, and VII I got the other day), or Castlevania III. ...Unless anyone has a better recommendation for how I can spend $5?

There is just something lovable about that man. I have no idea what that picture's about and he's not even smiling or anything but it still makes me feel like everything's going to be alright.
I like him too, but it gets to a point where Nintendo just seems to not deliver. As tonyxvx mentioned above, the eShop is just not up to snuff with say, the 360 marketplace from last gen. Others aspects such as broken online chat, not much 3rd party support from studios that release games on PC/Xbox/Playstation, repetitive games from certain series, etc......and the Wii U has just fallen flat for me. I don't know if I'm just getting older, but it seems the Golden Age of gaming has come to pass. :-({|=

Since there's no new sales I'll probably grab Fire Emblem and Smash to put me over for two more certs out of DDP.

Alhough I agree that the 360 marketplace and the arguably even better (games on multiple devices) PSN account systems are better than the eshop, they have completely botched the next gen versions of said marketplaces. The Wii is the only console that lets you transfer all of your digital purchases to a next gen console.  Albeit it is in a limited fashion but it is at least still accessible, something that is extremely disappointing for the XB1 and PS4.

Hoping that all three companies get their marketplaces in order similar to what Apple or Steam currently have in place.

Oh yeah, they definitely need to get at least a basic account system in place. Personally I could care less if they compete with Sony and MS and have multiplatform games. I would rather them deliver a inter-generational machine that's got a couple of differentiating features (though nothing like the game pad that drives up the cost or gimmicky and forced into every title) so they can sell it for like $250 off the bat like the Wii. Just meet the expectations of basic functionality at the time and make something that you can make the best damn Nintendo games on and market it well.

Stick it to the Man, Steamworld Dig, and Little Inferno are all fantastic if you don't already have them, and on sale for $4.99 each.
Thanks! I've got Steamworld on 3DS and Little Inferno on iPad, but I was considering Stick it to the Man. Think I'll go with that.

The DDP was great and all but I think you're over-valuing that 10% off a little bit. And it's a shame you haven't played Pikmin yet, I just finished the story mode last night and it's a wonderful game, took Nintendo far too long to release a third game in the series but it was worth the wait.

Does anyone think Fire Emblem will go on sale this week? Have any of the GBA virtual console games gone of sale recently? Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with the sales lately.

I would say the odds of it are extremely low. I think there's only been two sales ever that included GBA VC games and it was only a couple select games to correspond with the themed sale.

Thanks that's what I thought. I will go ahead and buy it today then. If it goes on sale this week you guys can thank me.

I believe we've had sales on five GBA games so far (Kirby & The Amazing Mirror 9/30, The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap 9/17, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 11/27, Metroid Fusion 11/27, and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 6/12), as I've purchased each game when it went on sale within the past six months.

As for whether we'll get that specific sale, I doubt it. Nintendo's games tend to go on sale during big themed week promotions, which we wouldn't know about yet anyway.

OK there were three sales (I'm considering the ones that were part of the Smash sale all one thing), didn't know about the one back in June. The September one was to promote Smash, I remember there was a theme with the November one but don't remember what it was.

Forgot I had the Dr. Luigi code for the Platinum Club Nintendo rewards, I redeemed that, I have just over $14 left in my Nintendo account, going to purchase the Mario Kart DLC. Those 2 will push me over the edge to another $5 credit. Will use the remaining balance + the $5 on Super Castlevania IV, unless something else comes out soon that I want.

The DDP was great and all but I think you're over-valuing that 10% off a little bit.
Possibly, but 10% off all new games is a great deal. When you combine it with their other promos you can save a ton of money. In the past 6 months, I've earned $85 in credit from DDP. That's for roughly $1,150 worth of games at their full price. The amount of eshop funds I've spent is just shy of $500, $85 of which is FROM them (actually a little more, since I won a Miiverse sweepstakes), and some of that credit is from free games they gave me or free money for spending the free money they gave me.

Basically, eshop sales have saved me $300. Then I've gotten $350 worth of totally free games from them via Club Nintendo and whatnot. Then on top of that, I've gotten nearly $100 in credit from their other promos. That leaves $400 worth of eshop credit I've spent out of pocket, which even if I paid full price for (which I didn't, I'm a CAG let's be real) is an amazing amount of savings for Nintendo games.

I needed $23.60 more for my next $5 certificate, so I went with the Hyrule Warriors DLC (Season Pass $19.99 + 4 costume packs $3.96), as I'm guessing those won't ever go on sale.

I still want Stealth Inc. 2, Shovel Knight, new Shantae, Demon's Quest & Gargoyle's Quest II, but figure those will go on sale at some point...

Nintendo really should keep the DDP around (and add it to the 3DS eShop); it definitely would make me more willing to go digital on certain games.

It would be awesome. Even if they sold a version of the N3DS that cost $50 more but permanent DDP with it was one of perks I would do it because it would be well worth it.
