Might be a stupid question, but can I stock up on eShop cards but not redeem them yet? I didn't realize that you can only have $200 in your eShop account
I waited about 3-4 years before redeeming some eShop cards. Unless Nintendo's changed their policy it should be safe to stock up. Might want to read the fine print on the back of the card just to be sure though.

Are the old wii points cards appliable to eshop or is that separate?  I think I have a few somewhere, hopefully not expired.

I read the fine print, which someone else might want to recheck and confirm, but it sounded to me like they were saying the cards never expire.

I think Nintendo realized that too many people will buy something that is at a fair price and cancelled the promotion. :p
yeah, no kidding! I'm annoyed at them for their Nintendo Direct, too. I don't like this business of hearing about four games at a time and only hearing about them when they're about to come out. Dynasty Hyrule Heroes Warriors will sell systems in Japan, which is good, but I don't think I care about it, personally; NES Remix was an awesome idea, but it sounds like a $15 advertisement for mediocre NES games (seriously, $15? come on); and I don't really care about anything else (though I'm excited for Dr. Luigi... I guess... until I realize it's just an updated Dr. Mario and costs a low budget price of $34.99 or something absurd)

Dr. Luigi is $14.99..

I found a card I used from the last Best Buy sale. The only thing it says regarding this is that "Card balances do not expire", so I guess we're good to stock up.

I think Nintendo's drunk and doesn't know what week it is.  The email I got today recapping the Nintendo Direct had a big banner at the bottom advertising the BBY 20% off eShop cards sale from last week.

Right now I'm trying to update my new Wii U that I just bought. After a while I get "Error Code: 108-0065 Unable to connect to server." Are the nintendo servers down right now?

Thanks for this. Does the zelda wii u deluxe bundle count for this? I made a purchase two days ago for mega man X $2. When I tried to sign in the account with NNID it said unable to sign in: either make sure I waited a day after a digital purchase or have a deluxe wii to qualify, both which I have. Thanks for any info.

I have the Zelda console and it recognizes my Mega Man purchase from two days ago. There is a message on it about points taking longer than usual to show up.

Didn't realize the program went through December 2014 though, thought it ended this month so that's good news. Have another year to spend another $48 for it. :whee:

thanks for commenting. The mega man x was my first purchase as I haven't redeemed wind waker hd yet. Hopefully it is just a delay. It was purchased like at 11pm est on dec. 17 so maybe 30-32hours ago. I'll wait and try signing in again later.

I've got the bundle too. Pretty cool that they give you a $5 code just for buying the bundle since the game supposedly costs $50. Of course Earthbound puts you 10% of the way to the next one too.

Same exact situation for myself.

Oh really now?! Guess I need to get around to registering that code and then using that $5 for Earthbound.

Man when I was told that the game would be available after the Direct I figured $30, hoped for $20 and when it came in at $15 I had to have it. The game is so much fun with the challenges, the kids and I spent hours playing it last night.

I only played it for only like 15 minutes yesterday, but I freaking love it. Had a total nostalgia bonor the whole time. It really is a neat idea where you do warioware-esque mini games across a bunch of different NES games (I didn't come across any of the "crossovers" yet, but I'm excited by the idea) and you get scores based on your timing. I don't have an precise idea of the game length since games kept unlocking as I played, but it looked like there was a pretty decent amount and is probably worth $15 for those interested.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Little Inferno will be 50% off today ($4.99) through 1/2/14. It is an interesting little game with limited replay value, but I would say I got more than $5 of enjoyment out of it. New releases are Knytt Underground for the e-shop and Castlevania (NES) for the virtual console.

i hope there's DLC that adds more challenges and games. seems like the perfect title for DLC !

Some more games are on sale on the Wii U eShop:

TNT Racers - Nitro Machines Edition:  was $7.99/now $4.99

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams: was $14.99/now $11.99

Toki Tori: was $3.99/now $1.99

Star Wars Pinball: was $9.99/now $4.99

Mutant Mudds Deluxe: was $9.99/now $4.99

Toki Tori 2+: was $14.99/now $7.49

Nano Assault Neo: was $9.99/now $7.99

Trine 2: Director's Cut: was $19.99/now $7.99

Also Knytt Underground is $12.99 which is completely ridiculous and Castlevania for $4.99 per standard NES VC norm.

I agree that I don't care about Hyrule Warriors at all, they'll have to change up the formula a LOT for me to enjoy it for more than like 10mins.

I don't understand why people complain about the price for NES Remix though. Did you complain about the prices of similar games like Wario Ware or other minigame type games? $15 isn't a bad price for it at all. Now if it was priced as a regular game yeah I'd be ticked off but...

As said though, pretty sure too that the Dr. Mario game (I thought it WAS Dr. Mario it just also had Luigi in it?!?) isn't that expensive.

Argh, where are more $2 games? I want to give Nintendo more money!
LIke people have already joked about... The promo probably worked TOO well and isn't being continued. When you do something "$2 for 2 Days" though and make it seem ongoing it's pretty sleazy to just drop out. I thought maybe it was something leading up to Christmas myself and would have been fine, but once and done is kinda dumb.

Attention all, I just went on the price drop section on the Wii U eShop and noticed new games for sale. Im taking advantage of them with my $50 from Best Buy last week.

Trine 2: Director's Cut - $7.99 Normally $19.99

Little Inferno - $4.99 Normally $9.99

Toki Tori 2+ - $7.49 Normally $14.99

Mutant Mudds Deluxe - $4.99 Normally $9.99

Star Wars Pinball - $4.99 Normally $9.99

Toki Tori - $1.99 Normally $3.99

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - $11.99 Normally $14.99

TNT Racers: Nitro Machines Edition - $4.99 Normally $7.99

Pac-Man and the ghostly Adventures - $19.99 Normally $39.99

Now my questions to some CAG users are which games are really worth getting? Currently getting Trine 2 for sure. I'm on the fence about the two Toki Tori games and Mutant Mudds Deluxe. Also as this is my first post how do I contact the OP?

Toki Tori is probably worth $2. Are eshop cards for sure 20% off next week again? If so I'm returning my PAC man to best buy and buying the eshop version. I paid $24+ tax which I could return and get a $35 ($28) card with.

I see it in the posting about next weeks ad but without scans I'm not entirely sure. Thanks, I ended up picking up Mutant Mudds and both Toki Tori games, the sequal is 50% so why not. I'm getting a eShop card at Meijer today before I work, they have santa bucks so I'll get $10 off a $50 card and 10% more off with my employee discount making it $36 for $50. If you live near a Meijer you could do Santa bucks, $5 off $24.99 or more and $10 off $49.99 or more. If you dont live in a state with one I guess wait for the Best Buy ad to offically come out or just return it and hope its true.

Here are the new deals for this week:

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - $11.99 - 20% Off - Ends 12/26

Little Inferno - $4.99 - 50%Off - Ends 1/2

Mutant Mudds Deluxe - $4.99 - 50% Off - Ends 1/2

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures - $19.99 - 50% Off - Ends 12/25

Toki Tori 2+ - $7.49 - 50% Off - Ends 1/2

Trine 2: Director's Cut - $7.99 - 60% Off - Ends 1/9

Out this week on the eShop is NES Remix for $14.99, Knytt Underground for $12.99, and Castlevania is the new NES Virtual Console release for $4.99.

I'll have to get Star Wars Pinball. For those wanting recommendations:

Little Inferno - A great little puzzle/adventure game that surprisingly has a cool story that gives it a great ending.

Mutant Mudds Deluxe - A good, hard shooter/platformer that takes after the classics

Toki Tori - A very good puzzle platformer whose gimmick is based on using the items you're given in a level to get to the goal

Toki Tori 2+ - A fantastic puzzle platformer that takes what was cool about the original and makes it into more of a Metroid-esque open world with that style of unlocking abilities that you use to solve puzzles to get where you need to go.

Trine 2: DC - A great action platformer in the Lost Vikings style with three heroes whose different abilities are necessary to solve puzzles, take out enemies, and get around the levels.

Tempted by Mutant Mudds but I just bought NES remix and plan on getting Dr. Luigi next week... Anyone think this is worth $5? It looks to be a pretty standard platformer other than the fact that you can hop into the background and whatnot.

Gonna pick up Mutant Mudds and Toki Tori. Anyone know how long these sales will be? I want to wait until Sunday to get some cards at Best Buy.
Frisky knows. You should ask him.

hopefully not too far off topic, bought my first eshop game last night (Remix) and was charged tax. is this how it works on all eshop purchases? wasnt expecting it since never been taxed on PSN or Live. thanks.

Well, I hope I'll like it. The reviews just do not encourage me. I love the concept.

yeah, I didn't know the cost since I didn't watch the thing. But if it ends up just being a reskinned Dr. Mario, yes, I will whine about it being $15. :) I'm mostly annoyed about NES Remix because it's such a darn fantastic idea (though kind of stolen from Retro Game Challenge), and I think it's not as good as it could have been. It just doesn't sound like there is much meat to it to me, and the reviews aren't encouraging. I'm just a bit disappointed in general. I'll probably end up buying it anyway like a beaten wife.

It's based entirely upon where you live and whatever sales tax laws apply there. Could be that Nintendo has something or other going on in your state. I pay Amazon sales tax, for instance; I don't pay any sales tax on Steam, PSN or eShop, though (or Xbox).

I think Mutant Mudds is way more worth $5 than NES Remix is worth $15. :)

All my whining aside, I did just buy NES Remix during my binge of sale purchases. And even if I feel it might not be a fulfillment of its awesome potential, I know I'll still enjoy it as a nostalgia junkie, and I doubt I'll remember thinking it was overpriced. I promise not to whine about it on here. Well, maybe a little.

Pretty crazy sale! I am torn on Giana Sisters and Mutant Mudds. I have Mutant Mudds on 3DS, so it seems silly to buy it. Giana Sisters is not much of a discount, and I figure I could get it cheaper on Steam. I think it would be more fun on Wii U, though.

Any advice?? :/

Pumped for Trine 2 and really hoping my gal will play it with me. I bought a crapload of stuff "to play with my fiancee" (maybe that was just an excuse); I think rather than it being fun for her, she finds it a chore and now also an intimidating chore because of the sheer number of things I've purchased. Hopefully she'll have fun and forget about the choreness or overwhelment cause darn it I wanna play with her wah :(

Gianna is good but goes $5 or less every Steam sale. Personally I would buy it again on WiiU if it was cheaper but it's not.
