Wii will be in stock at TRU on Sunday 7/22!

JediBaja

CAGiversary!
Checked the 'Hot News' for 7/5 on the Toys R Us homepage at work last Sunday and saw a notice for all stores to (roto) hold all incoming Wiis until 7/22.

My store usually gets anywhere between 30 to 80 units. Hope this helps out those that are still looking for the Nintendo Wii!
So if you find an Iphone for $600 in an Apple store, then you will call that also a deal? I mean, ebay has them way over MSRP...
it's cheaper. cheaper = win.

I find it hard to see why oasis boy fights so hard to get these threads taken down. And it looks like he tries to find reasons for his cause. Saying people post it just to get attention and such. Posts like these has helped people but I dont really see the benefit to people like Oasisboy to have it taken down. It's really odd. Something is definitely wrong in his head.

Good grief, man, do you have to post in every one of these threads? You know what's worse that "cluttering" the boards with informative posts like this? Thread crapping like yours that only hinders your "cause" by pushing this thread to the top of the board.

Give it up, bud. It ain't worth it. And as stated, this thread, at this time, is very much appropriate here.

more funny stuff about Oasisboy :bouncy:
:applause:

Are iPhone threads in the video game deals? Are apples better than oranges? Will you stop thread crapping?

I understand that this is not technically a deal, but Speedy mentions Wii availability in his posts for the big retailers. TRU is not considered one of them, which is why I posted this thread (I didn't see very many Wii availability threads in the Nintendo/Wii CAGs forums).

I for one have grown sick and tired of hearing "Do have Wiis in stock?" "When will you get them?" "How many will you have?" 50+ times a day, everyday I go to work since the last 8 or 9 months. I figured I should give the smart people who read the cheapassgamers forums a heads up first. That's all.

For those of you who shop at TRU 5659 store, I'll see you on the 22nd.

JediBaja, you shouldn't have to explain why you made this thread. A lot of people are greatful for being helped trying to find a Wii at all. No forced bundles, no inflated/scalper prices from Ebay that people contemplating on buying one have to put up with.

Those that are intersted already know the benefit, while those who don't see the benefit well.....I still don't quite understand why they complain about this thread existing (one line of the thread lists bothers them that much????) The other reasons I can only think of are, they don't like the Wii, or they hate the Wii/Nintendo and don't want it to become mainstream in the consumer for video games, or they're too much of a technical boyscout who must insist that rules are followed. It's really weird. Aren't the CAG forums a public service to gamers? I think maybe the complainers don't even bother reading the whole thread and just read the thread title, and post their demand/opinion.

I understand getting tired of people asking about the Wii, a lot of people that work in retail say that, BUT most of the big stores are to blame, right now BB, CC, and Target have a stock checker on their websites, but do not use it for the Wii, if they did, that would cut down on the people calling, and it would not be hard for TRU and Walmart to make one on their website.

OH as a side note to those looking for Wii's they have been showing up at GS and EB games this week, and some don't sell out until almost closing, and if they have sold out this week, they are supposed to have some Saturday morning, (I know they don't get shipments on Saturday, but that's what some stores have been saying.) Good luck !

FYI:

For any of you who plan to hit the TRU this weekend, do some reconnaissance on Sat. just in case. Many TRU locations decide to start selling their Wii stock a day early (on Saturday) and by Sunday most, if not all of the consoles are already wiped out.

Ok, so that's my advice. But I still feel empty. What is it? I know, a post in a 'Wii deal' thread doesn't feel complete without some useless pre-pubescent bleating and gloating and bitching and moaning.

YOU IS ALL SUXXORS, I AM ROXXOR, l33t WII FINDER, YOU ARE JUST LAZY HAHAH!!!11 I SEE WIIS COLLECTING DUST EVERWHEER. I 5OLD 10 ON EBAY, YOUR TOO SLOW HAHAHA!!1!

OMG ADMINS CLSOE THIS THREAD I FOUND 300 WIIS JUST SITTING AROUND THE OTHER DAY OMG NOT A DEAL WIIS ARE EVERYWHERE YOUR ALL JUST LAZZY IMO OMG HAHAHAHA!!!!!!1111. IM SO MAD I CULD PUNCH YOU BUT MOM IS CALLING ME TO TAKE OUT TEH GARBAGE ILL GET YOU LATER

There. Now I feel complete. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the head's up about EB-- just got one there.

And thanks for posting this thread OP-- LONG LIVE MSRP DEALS ON HARD TO FIND ITEMS IN THE CHEAP ASS VIDEO GAME DEALS FORUM!!!

Hey, that's a pretty catchy slogan :whistle2:k

So much anger in here...

All I know is this: I needed to find information about stores like TRU getting Wiis in, so I specifically came to THIS forum.

Mission Accomplished. Thank you, OP, and thank you CAG.

I skimmed through the last few pages and didn't see it posted, so here's the gist of the upcoming ad:

Free controller glove with the purchase of a Wii PLUS one of the following games- Pokemon: Battle Revolution, Mario Party 8, Big Brain academy: Wii Degree.

:360:
Free $50 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox 360 console. (I believe this excludes the Core.)

:ps2:
$150
Playstation 2 + Ratatouille + Freedom Wireless controller

:ps3:
$500
PS3 price break

:ds:
$150
NDS Lite + Transformers Autobots/Decepticons + Nintendo Starter Kit

Wait... can you confirm that once more? I just want to make sure that's not a packaged Wii with an increased price... right? So the ad shows the Wii, a controller glove, and 1 of those games for the base price of the Wii?

I haven't really been following the Wii, but if this is true doesn't that mean this is a great deal? I don't think I've seen anyone package the Wii with another game without raising the price.

No, You get the Controller glove free when you purchase the Wii and one of those games.

Thanks, that makes more sense.

I knew I had to be reading that wrong.

Update: I have just been informed that those who wish to apply for a TRU credit/rewards card will be allowed in 1 hour early to shop within the store and purchase a Wii. This is an order given by corporate and was discussed during a recent conference calll. I am not sure if this policy is specific to the 56 region or with all TRU stores.

I would reccomend those of you who really want a Wii to apply. Even if you are not approved, it gets you in the door before everyone else who chooses not to apply regardless if they were in line before you. Benefits of the card include 10% off everything in the store (excluding video game hardware, gift cards, diapers, and formula) on the day you apply. You also receive 4 points for every dollar you spend, the points add up to discount coupons and gift cards.

IMO this is very unfair and I forsee getting many complaints about this on Sunday. TRU just wants to get their "numbers up," have returning customers, and yada ya. For those of you who plan on signing up for the credit card, I would recommend getting to the store earlier than you planned since you'll be entering the store earlier.
FYI: You'll need a valid driver's license to apply for the card.

(I hope that didn't sound too much like a TRU credit card advertisement)

I haven't heard anything about this, but I'll check tomorrow. It sounds like something region specific because activities like this are usually condemned by corporate.

I wonder if the demand for the Wii will be met enough this weekend with TRU and other stores getting some in or this going to be sold out once again?

I stopped by Walmart the other day to buy a few things and noticed they had at least 5 Wiis (I didn't take the time to count but bottom shelf (which is used for hardware) was full of non bundled Wiis. So probably more than 5.

There's definitely not a shortage around here. Walmart.com shows as out of stock so I wonder if there's a gimmick going on where online sites are trying to pretend they are low on stock so people will pay the steeper price.

The uninformed will horde them per usual, thinking they'll still flip more massive profit. Give it about 2 weeks and the returns will pour in. That's what I'm guessing will happen, but you never know.

People have been saying that since December, the demand has gone down a few times, (like in March, they were still on the shelves at 2 in the afternoon at some walmarts and targets on a Sunday) but it has always gone back up, who knows if its over ? the gamestops in my area that had them during the week sold out that day, the gamestops in my area that had them today (Sat) sold out too. I'm sure TRU will have a bigger quantity than gamestop, we will see tommorow......

Just my experience here in one of the most tech-savvy and populated areas in the country, where it is quite difficult to score a Wii without a combination of research and blind luck.

Made my way to TRU about a half hour before it opened, and people had lawn chairs out already. There was sign up announcing that there were only 9 Wiis available, and there over nine people in line. Two minutes after opening there were none left, and I left (again) empty-handed.

Par for the course. :) I'm certain the rest of you had more luck.

When every avenue to a Wii is 100+ over MSRP, you're damn right $250 is a deal! As any hardcore reseller/capitalist will tell you, the Wii is worth whatever it will sell for. And because it's selling for over MSRP, so $250 is less than it's "worth". THAT'S a deal.

DEAL with it. :)

Well i headed to circuit city that was across the street from Toys r us. 11 in line at CC, 27 at TRU. I was #11 at CC and got my Wii.

I went to a GS yesterday and there was a sign "We do have Wiis!". of course it was kind of in the middle of nowhere.
what - no more shaq fu?
It's only fuck when you say f-u-c-k. If you say fuck with caps on it won't become fuck.

Showed up about 30 mins before toys r us opened and I was 19 out of 28. Some cranky old bitch got 4, made her grand child, daughter, son in law all wait in line with her.

bet that hundred dollar combined profit on ebay, if they sell, is gonna buy dem a thanksgivin meal with all the trimmins this year, a yuk. No spam this year!

Went pretty smoothly over at my store. There was a bad initial reaction to the "card-application-earlybird-special". But after everyone in line realized that they would get a Wii, it was fine. Those that went in early and applied got first dibs on the Wii Plays and were able to go home early and enjoy the rest of their Sunday. After around 10:45 am, I politely let down people who were like "you have the Wii advertised in your ad, but you're sold out!" Some people just don't get it.

i feel just as bad, if not worse, for the store employees who have to deal with clueless idiots as i do for those of us unable to get our hands on this console yet.

If you are intent on getting a Wii, make a list of the stores in your area that would recieve a wii shipment and call around daily morning and after lunch is what I did and eventually someone will have a shipment for you.

If you want one at a B&M, just get there really early. If you live in the Silicon Valley, get there by 3 am, the families are out in full force in front of all the stores every Sunday by 6 am with their lawn chairs and kids. As it gets closer to Christmas it's only going to get worse.

LOL, the TRU I work at still had a few this morning. Only 4 people showed up at opening yesterday. We had 21 Wii's. I came in this morning, we still had 3 left. Doesnt seem like people around here want them as bad as other areas.

I got my Wii at TRU thanks to the tip from CAG. They opend at 11 am so I didn't have to get my ass up super early. I strolled in about 11:30 and picked one up which was really nice since I checked about every place in Oklahoma City for one the day before. I called ahead and confirmed they had some because they feigned ignorance the day before.

Thanks OP for the heads up! I got to the local TRU about 15 mins before opening and there was a line already. I went up and got my slip right before a family (mom, dad, grandma and grandpa, no kids) walked up and got 4 slips. The lady handing out the slips hit me up for the discount card (which I refused) but still let me in about 5 minutes early. The same family of 4 ended up in front of me in line for the register and each one paid entirely in gift cards (actually, each one had a stack of cards that had $25 on each card).

Long story short, I got my Wii now and love it. My 5 year old daughter is having a blast as well. Again, thanks OP.
