Really? Bummer. I purchased w/out playing the demo/trial. I tend to do that w/ all DOTW titles. The reviews were basically all 5 stars so figured I own games that are worse. :) So next week is another 99center!

Yeah, EastX described it as having a "lack of depth" and I'd have to agree with him. If it wasn't for the achievements, I wouldn't have any desire to boot it up again. But it does have pretty good achievements, so I'll get another hour or so out of it. It's not bad at all and controls fine, I just wish there was some more of a feeling of progression.

On Zombies on teh phone, im having trouble unlocking the 'Dont fire in space" achievement. That's the part where the clouds float around, right? I swear I did this, but it didn't pop. Anyone got this one?

I went with the trick mentioned on xbox360achievements.org. Keep pushing the back button on your phone over and over. Do this for atlesst 10 minutes if not longer it until you run out of lives. Popped for me when I lost my last life.

Thanks. I actually got it on my 3rd attempt after posting that. I swear I wasn't shooting, but im thinking it must have been registering my shots at the very last second as it transitioned to space.

Thanks tho.

Nice list eastx. Got em all except pacman ce. Pretty much same reason no one else is buying it...too much. I have the regular Pacman though and the touch controls can be very hellish to use so if pacman ce is similar with bad touch controls, I'd probably still pass.

Note that I wanted to spin the lengthy introduction off into a separate article, but was outranked.

And yeah, BulletAsylum is super shallow. Glad we agree on that, Tyler!
I didn't know you liked Chickens Can't Fly that much, I'm not a huge fan but will grab it on a DotW/Price Drop.

4 of those 5 are WP exclusives right? Was that intentional at all? Just curious.

CE's controls are actually much better. The game even goes into slow-mo automatically whenever a ghost gets near Pac-Man, making it easier to dodge correctly.

Yeah, I was favoring exclusives, but I must always give PvZ its due. Started with a list of 10 games and knocked it down to 5. Also tried to pick stuff with wide appeal as opposed to Dodonpachi or others that are more of an acquired taste.

I do love Chickens Can't Fly, but like I said, the difficulty is kind of uneven right now. The devs promised a fix, so I'm sort of taking that into account.

I see, makes sense. I'm starting to really enjoy another exclusive, Zombies on teh Phone. The controls really work way better than I ever imagined they would. I'm not a huge fan of Time Viking though, maybe just because I suck at it (and the score racks up way slower than the Zombie ones)

read and commented. Love all the titles listed. Pacman ce is a must own...after a price drop.

Does "live tile" just mean that the actual tile (when pinned on the home screen) changes in some way? (i.e., the Games tile has my avatar pop in and out, the Pictures tile rotates pictures, etc?)

Question: I'll be getting a WP in two weeks(TWO WEEKS!!!) and if a deal comes this next Wednesday that I want, since I don't have a phone yet, can I get the game? Or am I SOL since I don't have the "platform" yet?

Yeah, for whatever inexplicable reason, you can't buy games through the website before you've registered a phone with the Zune software.

BTW, we'll be announcing the last Live games of the month sometime Sunday, and it costs 99 cents... No need to wait for a deal. Swish!

Urrrgh......!!! You're making the wait unbearable!!! In a good way tho :) gosh, I'm gonna burn thru $30 so fast on the 3rd of june lol

I just got a longboard. The guy who posted it thought they may be randomly assigned too, but I think everyone is reporting getting a longboard.

Either way, pretty cool. Europe also has the IE9 tablet prop. Wish it would come to US

I'll be putting my sim back in my wp7 for Final Fantasy and be getting it on release. Hopefully if it gets good enough numbers then square will bring more games. Hopefully we get chrono trigger eventually.

Thanks for posting the links, Tyler! Was asleep by the time the articles went live.

Yeah, MonstaFish has a rather strange premise and funky art style... But it's only a buck, so who can complain? :)

If Final Fantasy sells well, I'm sure it will lead to more games from Square Enix (possibly FF2, FF3, and even Tactics). So even though $7 is a lot for a phone game, it would be great for all Windows Phone-owning RPG fans put that aside and buy it anyway.

Never been more excited to be a WP 7 owner.
Absolutely can't wait for Final Fantasy!

Love the thread eastX. I dont post to much but I follow your thread here and read your articles.

7 dolla's for FF? hmm.. I love me some FF but $7 may keep me waiting. On one hand I want to support the title in hopes of more Square titles for wp7, but 7 dollars... This may be the only title I would drop that much for, that and Tactics! Anyone else going to buy it day it releases??

Also, Monstafish is a buy just because it is 99 cents.

I've never really played it, so probably not. I'll demo it and see what it's like. Full-on RPG's aren't really my thing.
$7 no problem, day one.

Along with any classic square.
You have to realize that these games are 35 hours plus. A steal at $7.
exactly. Day one purchase here to. Or at least that week, depending if I have the cash on my card.

My problem is that I don't play phone games for that long, I'd much rather spend 15 minutes on a pick-up-and-play game. If I want to sink a few dedicated hours into gaming, I'm gonna do it on my PS3 or 360.

always nice to have lengthy games on the phone in case of a trip or situation where you are left stranded with just your phone and need a gaming fix, but understood. I'd probably be playing a Vira tight now instead.....if I had one. Waiting on a price drop on that though. Could play my ds or psp but then I remember the achievements on the go.....gah its a curse.
Could play my ds or psp but then I remember the achievements on the go.....gah its a curse.
Yes it truly is a curse, I feel the same way. I still have about a dozen quality DS games in my backlog that I never seem to pick up and play, because I know I can play Farm Frenzy 2 and get a couple 'cheevos.

Final Fantasy may be a lengthy game, but that alone doesn't make it worth the money. I mean, it's not necessarily a bad game, but it's not really anything special. Touch controls will be a plus, however, because it will eliminate the tedium of navigating through menus (as long as it works as I expect).

And I guess I'm the only one who doesn't see a $1 game as an instant purchase. It's an excellent price for sure, but I still need the game to be enjoyable if I'm going to put any time into it.

like Tyler I usually play 15 min at a time on the phone. but I have such a love for ff titles, probably nostalgia. The air ship was so cool. Loli would love to see ff tactics.

So I spoke with my wife today and she wants to wait till the new Samsung whatcha-ma-call-it comes out the middle of June before we upgrade. And since we have to upgrade together, I have to wait another 3 weeks before I get a Windows Phone.

THE RAGE!!!!! So jealous of all ya'all getting the good deals....

lol my mom (who uses maybe 100 minutes a month on her plan) recently said she wants "one of those new nokia phones"

Why she always wants a smartphone is beyond me. She never uses it. But good to see some of the Nokia marketing reach people.

I may just have to pick up Final Fantasy when it comes out, I still see 7$ as a good price for that game, and even though I've played through it multiple times it will now have achievements! Plus I just really enjoy the game anyway.

Sounds like you may miss out on a few DOTW deals. It is too bad that you cannot buy the titles before you have a phone. I remember waiting and missed out on Rocket Riot DOTW.
Monopoly? Again?

Ugh, all I want is one freaking Plants vs. Zombies sale.
LOL! I know right! I too have been waiting for PvZ to become DOTW. That and Doodle Jump.

I didn't buy Monopoly last time, why was that? I will have to check a review to see why I was deterred last time it was DOTW. EDIT: Sorry East, I figured you had reviewed the game. Also at 1.99 I was going to buy, but noticed it is 2.99-down from 4.99. Now I remember why I didn't buy it. I have monopoly, on every platform, and other than achievements find no reason to own another one unless the price was too good. At $3 I will pass. This one needs a price drop to .99

BTW: I think I have decided that I will buy FF at release. The other comments, my love and fond memories of FF, and the hopes good sales bring on Tactics convinced me to not wait for a DOTW. I wonder how long we have to wait until it is released though?!
