I'll probably get some flak for asking, but I'm debating between a Nokia 920 & Nokia 820. Which would be the better choice for gaming for WP8?

I do know the 920 lacks any sort of expansion slot so that's one of my issues (hoarder here)

Microsoft does not allow you to save games or apps to SD card for some stupid reason so you want to get the most hdd space you can. Especially since games now require up to 4gb free space and your phone will steal your storage and put it into"other".

Wait? Seriously? So if I buy a men card for my 820 I can't save games on it? That totally blows.

Which is why I returned the Nokia Lumia 810 for T-Mobile and kept my original Samsung Focus. The Focus is still the best WP I say. Any word on when DoTW returns?

The cross-buy is nice (although I don't personally game on PC), but a multiplayer-focused strategy game just isn't for me. Nice to see new releases trickling through again.

I'm just glad there is actually something new for people with WP7 to play. With Microsoft turning its back on people who haven't upgraded to WP8 or a Nokia phone it would be nice if they would throw us a bone and run some deals on older games at the very least.

Yes, especially when they give us so little incentive to upgrade. The prospect of losing all of my game progress isn't exactly appealing.

Yes. This is a strange set back. Why this has not been implemented is strange. I just kept the games I started on my wp7 device and the games I never got around to I have on my wp8 device. So, other than not being able to play a few games without starting over on my wp8 I did not lose anything.

Does anyone have Shuffle Party for the Windows Phone? All of a sudden it's not working anymore and I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. It just crashes upon startup.

I recommend Shark Dash, especially for a dollar. I have not tried batman but it is great to see releases trickling in and I am excited for Ascend New Gods!

I thought DOTW was supposed to make a return soon?! It appears perhaps that was just a rumor or I was dreaming... Oh well... I have too many games at the moment and a backlog so I can't complain.

^I would hope so, considering Twisted Pixel is now in the Microsoft fold and hopefully MS isn't in the business of releasing games for other platforms before they release it for their own.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if iOS got it first.

cleared up over 4 gbs and still cant download the dark Knight. I hate this bullshit. the only other big file i can delete is asphalt 7 and I dont want to lose my progress.

Nice to see more Nokia games. 4 new games this week. crazy.

Heads up: we're thinking of starting a biweekly Windows Phone gaming podcast. Hope WP gamers like podcasts.
Saw "Shark Dash" in the title, eastx have you reviewed it yet? Wondering about it because I had a friend complete it already. Thx!
Might have a review coming up on Wednesday - it just came out so's I need a little time to play it. Basically it's a fun little game and well worth a dollar. Very easy Achievements too.

I don't mean to be off topic, but I know you guys are knowledgeable about WP and I need help.

I want to upgrade from my WP7 HTC HD7 to a WP8, mostly for the games. I want a flagship phone, and I hear the Nokia Lumia 920 is the closest thing to that for WP (plus, Nokia exclusive games). However, I have T-Mobile and afaik the 920 is only available with AT&T.

If I really want a flagship-ish phone, is there anything on the horizon for T-Mobile? I know they have the 8x but from what I read, the 920 is better (plus, bigger and I hate small phones).

I'm really trying hard not to get the S3 (or S4) but I don't want to spend my upgrade on a mediocre phone. Someone told me I can get a 920 unlocked and use it with T-Mobile but I don't know anything about.this..

If anyone can help me out, it'll be much appreciated!

I don't, but I'm willing to at least listen to a few minutes so I have something to comment on. Heh.

I thought I would share a review of the 8x from wpcentral. It is a solid phone. I love mine despite wanting the L920 mainly for the camera. the 8x has a very solid camera, and I am pleased with the results so far. The only thing I feel I am missing is the timed exclusives with Nokia and I wish the device had 32gb storage.

There are rumors that Verizon will have a variant of the L920, the L928, but no confirmation. I haven't read too much about T-mobile. I would assume in the next couple months new devices will be announced if you can wait to make a decision. My wife has the galaxy s3 and is a very solid phone too, if you like android.

wpcentral has a forum for more feedback too if you are going for more about the Lumia.

Huge selection of EA titles on sale. 33% to 40% off includes:
Battleship
Mirrors edge
Monopoly
Sims 3
Tetris
Plants vs zombies
Contour jour
Need for speed- hot pursuit
Bejeweled live

Most are 1.99 except PvZ, need for speed are 2.99 after $2 off. Oh, Sims 3 is 4.99 after the $2 discount. I do not recommend that game...at any price.

Mirrors edge and PvZ are the obvious must haves!

Also Paul's article on wpcentral.com mentions two sweet wp releases this week! I am sure he will post the link so I won't take his thunder. EXCITE!!!

^Thanks. 33% isn't much, but enough to grab Mirror's Edge for sure. I need to do more research into Battleship. NFS: Hot Pursuit is probably a pass based on Paul's review and the fact that I still need to beat the old NFS on my WP. Own all the rest except Sims, which should just burnt in a fire.

Plants vs. Zombies is definitely an easy pickup if you don't already have it.

I can't recommend Contre Jour for $2. It has a cool style with nice music, but the gameplay gets boring fast and the it's a hard game.

Sorry for the triple post, but I just looked it up. Mirror's Edge will be my first Windows Phone purchase since before Christmas, when I bought Galage Legions DX for $1. Most of the reason for the lack of purchases was obviously due to the complete disappearance of DotW, and a small percentage goes to my beautiful new PS Vita.
Paul's at GDC so I'm not sure if we'll see him around here much this week. Here's the link MeatWad was talking about:

Chaos Rings and Gravity Guy 2 Gracing Xbox Windows Phone this week.

Chaos Rings will be $10  and Gravity Guy 2 will be $3. Chaos Rings can be played on WP7 or WP8, Gravity Guy 2 is only playable on WP8. Chaos Rings is close to 1GB, so clear some room on your phone.

The Sims: Medieval also came out for Nokia devices as well. It's Xbox enabled too and cost $5.
thanks Tyler, forgot Paul is busy this week. I am pleased to see games pouring in! Are you still rocking the arrive Tyler?

Also I like contour at the .99 price I paid. it does get a bit boring.

I am insulted Sims 3 even shows up on my phone's marketplace. Battleship is meh based on the demo, but I may bite....maybe.

a Vita! Nice. I haven't purchased any live titles until I was given my 8X, and bought a few at regular price.
Thanks MastrMeatWad, picked up Battleship and NFS: HP.
you are most welcome!

let me know your thoughts on battleship and the multiplayer if you remember. that is the only title I am on the fence about.

Is this a popcap discounted special only during PAX? Anyone know the length of time for this sale?

Unfortunately I am. Sprint has been very good to me and my family, and I'm currently on a 5 person family plan that makes my phone plan VERY affordable. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to upgrade to a WP8 (my upgrade doesn't even become available until June). If the Sprint Windows Phones never materialize I guess I'll just be out of luck.

well you good sir, are in luck. Sprint from an article, is supposed to get the Samsung ativ s and an HTC device

^Thanks for the heads up. Just googled it and that ATIV S is pretty gorgeous, hopefully these rumors come true. The HTC "Tiara" doesn't sound too bad either.

Wow, I didn't realize that Mirror's Edge wasn't a first person game. I really like the sidescrolling style. Definite buy!

Battleship seems pretty lame, especially since I'm only probably going to play it Single Player.
