Yea, I bit on Tetris for that price. Seemed to control pretty well during the trial. Guess we will see as I play more but for $3 and under I'll buy pretty much anything as long as the controls work.

I have found that the #1 factor that determines if I buy a game on WP7 is how well the controls work. I never had an iphone or ipod touch so I never really got the whole gaming with a touch screen phenomenon until I got my WP7 a few months ago. I always figured that there were some games that just wouldn't work or at least wouldn't work well enough to be fun. The PES 11 deal last week was a pretty good example of that type of game that just doesn't work. I passed on the Sims dotw as well due to the poor controls. Looking back I probably should have passed on Pac-Man, Glyde & Rise of Glory as well.

Also, they have delisted the two Star Wars games and Fast and Furious from WP7. If you have the trial versions on your phone you should still be able to buy the full versions.

WTF is up with all these delistings without warning? I totally would have bought the cantina game and Fast and Furious if there had at least been a warning ahead of time.

But you're totally right about how some games just control like crap on phones, especially if they insist on just having motion controls. Super Monkey Ball and I Love Katamari would have been must-buys if they just included the option of having a stick on the screen control the action.

Picked up Tetris and Ionball, both seemed well worth $3.

Ionball EX seems especially good, I really like those Arkanoid style games.

Sucks about Fast and the Furious getting de-listed, I was just waiting for that to go on sale.

Yea, I need to hop on some more of the $3 releases instead of waiting on them. I picked up Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds and Beards and Beaks while I was on vacation and have really enjoyed all of them. The CAG in me always says wait for a deal, but I definitely think it is good for the platform as a whole if people support new games at launch.

The delistings are a bit worrisome to me, especially because some of these games have not been out that long. That said, just download all the trials onto your phone and you should be able to purchase the full versions through the game interface if they do get delisted. I know you might have to sort through a bunch of trial games to find the ones you want to play, but hopefully the updates coming to the XBL interface this year will make it easy to sort between full and trial versions of the game, much like you can do on the 360 dashboard.

Wow, I wanted to check out the star wars. Oh well. I am with you, 2.99 and I'll bite and supporting the developers for win7 is important. I should buy more games but such a huge backlog. Also good news if you like avatar achievements, a windows live game announced will have avatar unlocks. I like having extras to unlock and on the go, awesome

We did cover the 3 games disappearing:

http://www.wpcentral.com/more-missing-xbox-live-games-fast-furious-star-wars-battle-hoth-cantina

The delistings are because the publishers lost the licenses to those games and so they yanked them. Of course they should have warned everybody in advance... Anyway, I'd post more stuff like that here, but I've seen very little indication that anyone reads or responds to them, so it's not worth the effort right now. I do still love you all though.

Man, I think I want to take back anything good that I said about the Tetris controls. Maybe I just need more time with it, or maybe I'm realizing that I must have secretly hated Tetris since the Nintendo World Championships from back in the days.

So are the rumors true that there is no release this week? Hope we still get a deal of the week.

One question for everyone out there, has anyone found a good protective case for the Trophy? Verizon carries nothing but iPhone and Droid accessories in the stores and there is next to nothing for sale on the Verizon website either.

What I don't get about delistings, is don't publishers realize that if they just gave gamers a warning of one week, their profits from those games would spike from all the people hurrying to purchase the games?

It just seems like terrible business to not give people any warning.

DrunkAgain, you're right that publicizing the delistings would have been way smarter. Chalk it up to those companies' mobile divisions having crappy PR (we've never been able to get a response from I-Play, Fast & Furious's publisher, on any topic).

There may be no Xbox Live release tomorrow, but I will have at least 3 cool gaming-related articles going up! Sean, at least, will enjoy them. >:)

It's not just an issue with mobile games though. Plenty of games have disappeared from Xbox Live Arcade with zero warning. Very, very annoying.

Hey, I pretty much lobbed up a softball sized question that let you link to your site today so don't think sean is the only person who checks out your site. ;) I couldn't remember if I saw the article on your wpcentral, TA or x360a. Figured it had to be one of those 3 since that is pretty much all I check on a daily basis outside of CAG. :D

Oh yeah, thanks man. Now if only some of my fellow CAGs would actually comment on articles... That's extremely important because it's developers/publishers' only way of gauging interest in the scoops and interviews they give us. More comments = more news, which is good for everybody.

Perhaps you'd like to know the Deal of the Week a little early?

Super Monkey Ball goes on sale, promptly rolls of a cliff

Nope, still 3 more things coming. 1 of them might get delayed depending on the developer, but definitely at least 2 (1 of which is an interview).

RE: Amazon's policies.

Off topic, but I ordered a Smartphone from Amazon last week (August 12th) for $99.00 even. It's been on backorder for a while.

Just two days ago I saw that the price dropped to $82.99, so the first thing I do is go to my page and try to cancel the old order and place a new one. However, the magical "Shipping Soon" status appeared on my order, meaning the option to manually cancel it is gone (after 10 days of just sitting there with no movement).

So I contact customer service to either cancel the order or credit me the $17 difference, but they won't do neither.

It's been on "Shipping Soon" status for the last 2 days now, and it's still on that blasted status today as I'm staring at it right now refreshing my page.

WTF Amazon?

This is the 3rd problem I've had with them in the last 2 weeks!

1) Misadvertising Sucker Punch 2-Disc as a 4-Disc
2) Pre-order guarantee of Deus Ex $20 promo credit not applied
3) And now this problem

They could've easily canceled my order 2 days ago with no incident rather than give me BS about not being able to cancel the shipping process! I want to contact them again and demand they cancel it or else I'll just return the item to place a new order for the lower price difference.

I've only done a return like once and I hate, hate, hate all the return hassle so I'm just hoping they could cancel my order for me to place a new one, or just credit me the difference.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

I have not had a similar issue. The first pair of phones I purchased via amazon wireless was a good experience. I got a win7 phone and an android phone for my wife-intially it was 70 for both, a few days later they both dropped in price, called, and I was told they will lower but only once for this purchase so if the phones got cheaper in the next week or two they wouldn't adjust. So the cost to me when to only 25. I had to return the phones however due to Tmobile's service was horrible in my area. Did you buy it from amazon wireless? or through amazon in general? That may be the difference?

I too visit the site.
@eastx-In fact I have the app on my phone. You mention more comments would be good, and I'll try to do just that. The other day I watched a video on wpcentral about the Mango update and the new tile for the website will allow comments with the live tile/push notifications. Then we won't have an excuse to not leave a comment! :)

BTW: I am on the fence w/ Monkey ball. The controls complaint are legit. The achievments will make or break the purchase for me.

Thanks for the info.

Mine is just Amazon in general.

I'll contact them again and see if they'll give me credit/refund.

Ratchet, I highly suggest complaining again and mentioning that because your order has not shipped, you would like the price adjusted. That usually works for me. if not, refusing the shipment is the only answer.

For some reason my editor hasn't posted the really cool interview yet, but here's 3 gaming related articles anyway:

Cro-Mag Rally developer humbly details upcoming patch
Hydro Thunder GO update and Venice Canals map cross the finish line (that map was hard to get!)
Fight Game Rivals busts out on Xbox Live on August 31

MasterMeatWad, thanks for the support! Very cool of you. That's how to do it, everybody.

Read and commented.

You should get an interview with HalfBrick and demand Age of Zombies comes soon, along with the pomegranate update to Fruit Ninja!

Thanks Sean! Halfbrick consistently ignores my emails, argh. But I might be able to pull some strings and pressure them into an interview sometime.
Is Fight Game Rivals still coming out today Eastx, checked WPCentral this morning but didn't see anything?
It's out now, but we haven't found a download link for it yet... We get those from certain websites like WP7applist, who hasn't listed the game on time for some reason.

Yeah I see it now, didn't see it this morning when I was downloading Fable Coin Golf.

You are welcome. I like the site and the articles. Keep up the good work! I am excited for the new app with live tiles-push. Now if only Mango update will come sooner than later. :)

Love that fable golf is dotw. I downloaded the fight game rivals trial. Not bad actually. i was expecting something totally different.

Picked up coin golf. Tried the demo for fight rivals. It seemed pretty cool. Has rocket riot always been $5? For some reason, I thought it was $3..

Thanks for the heads up on those Star Wars Zune links, but it looks like I'll have to wait to get home to download them. Hopefully they're still working then.
Fable Coin Golf was the one deal I was really waiting for, but now that its here, I can't bring myself to buy it.
Why not? If you're interested in the game, it makes sense to buy it while it's cheap...

How are the achievements for Fable Coin Golf? Are they annoying or hard to do?

EDIT: Just looked it up, gold rank in all holes? Sounds too brutal.

I just don't use my phone for gaming enough to even justify the sale price. Do they ever have sales more than 50% off?

No, 33% off is the maximum discount we've seen so far. Me, even if I didn't review phone games for a living, and I had a game I wanted to play on my phone, I'd just play it, either at home or on the go. Plus, Achievements.

Teeheehee, there is a Fable Coin Golf Achievement guide: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=304138

Fable Coin Golf actually looks pretty great. I'll download it at work today. Let's see if I can get that 75g achievement.

Hey eastx, those Zune links worked great to get the Star Wars games.

Any idea if there's a similar way to get Project Sunburst or the Fast and the Furious?

I got 100% achievements in Fable Coin Golf. It really is not that hard. I played it for maybe 10 hours. It is a pretty fun game - challenging, but not frustrating. I definitely recommend it at the sale price.

Fable Golf is awesome, and at that price is is worth it IMO. It has decent achievements, it is fun to beat friends on the leaderboards, it is well polished, and it to me is a game you can just pick up and play like angry birds and just have fun with on the go. What a wp7 game should be, again, imo. I have a psp and 3ds for handheld gaming. Plus at 2.99, that is well worth it. Buy!

I am too late. :( I am a sad panda.

another topic:
Does anybody read the reviews from people on the games. Like 1 star reviews on awesome games and such troll statements. What they type is just crazy. It isn't just wp7, but some of the comments are unique. on my apple same kind of nonsense, except you dont read "i should go back to android". Just was reading the reviews on the new fight game. I actually enjoyed it and I am glad it isn't like a typical fighter, how could that work and be great on a phone/touchscreen? eh.
