Today at walmart the clearance aisle had quite a few 1600 points cards for $15 dollars. While not great of a deal its still better than paying $20. Anyways, might want to check it out. My guess is because it had GH2 on it and was a "special edition". This is most likely YMMV.

Lol I looked at the back of my card and it says"This card has no value until activated at the register." The ones that are in sealed plastic do not. These just hang there(As previosuly stated).
Well, to be fair, gift cards have to be activated. And most gift cards these days have that scratch off stuff, because people were writing down numbers and plugging them in online after people purchased them. Happened a lot around Christmas.

I don't know either way about the 360 cards though. Not that it matters. Nobody should be stealing them anyway.
The reason giftcards have to be activated is because they have to confirm that there's money on the card or that you're putting money on the card, and it has to be told so in the system. The XBox Live cards come pre-paid and "pre-activated". All you have to do is buy them. There's nothing to activate at all.

Huh? What are you eve trying to say?
Some plastic?
Did you forget what we're talking about? He's calling you an idiot for thinking of stealing them when they "aren't activated", even though there's no activation required.

And if there is, then i'm fucked, because when I sell them at work, I look them up manually. I never scan anything at all. No one's ever said they didn't work. I've sold 1600, 4000 point cards (sold one to myself without scanning it), 1 month, 3 month and 12 month cards. Never scan anything. They all work fine.

There is nothing that needs to be activated.
That's wonderful.

Did you read what I wrote before you went off that I was stealing some cards?
Please point me to where you wrote 'worthless plastics'.
You're moving from "fucking idiot" to "complete retard" at light speed.

As stated, I had no idea what his 'plastic' remark meant as I never buy the cards at stores, I buy them online through XBL to avoid taxes. I have simply seen them sitting there at Wal-Mart.
Scorch: where do you work, and what do the cards look like where you sell them.
I work at a game store, and they all look the same. The ones "in the plastic" that you're referring to.

They aren't encased in plastic, that's what we've been saying. Walmart B&M sells them and they look like this.

Except, not so much Spanish and it's for XBLA.

Just as an example of how YMMV Wal-Mart clearance is, I live about 25-30 minutes away from the OP in a different suburb of St. Louis and that Wal-Mart has the GHII branded point cards, but at full price.

Edit: I've seen these Wal-Mart cards. They are completely open with no casing, just hanging on the rack by themselves. They usually have a game logo on them. I've seen Gears, Halo 3, and now Guitar Hero II themed cards at Wal-Mart. They also have some regular art ones as well.

We already know how YMMV they are. That's why we call them YMMV.

Regarding the standalone cards, I know nothing of those. I was just talking about the plastic hanging ones. I assumed we all were, given the "plastic" statement earlier. Whatever, this argument is pointless, be cool, stay in school and always pay for your point cards.

Sorry at the beginning of the thread there were a bunch of people asking about YMMV and just didn't realize things about Wal-Mart clearance. I thought I would give an example to the newer members.

CocheseUGA and I keep saying they are not encased in plastic, the ones in plastic do not require activitaion. Stand alone cards made of plasitc do, they have nothing protecting them thats why people keep saying "its tempting to steal them" since there is no protection on them at all.

Whats the point of me posting deals to help people out if its just going to cause an arguement with people not reading what the others have posted and just assuming. No one ever said they were going to steal they just said it was tempting, who cares, its not like they said I have stolen them so many times.

um, because when you say it's tempting to steal something and that the thing would be useless when you steal, you just make yourself look dumb. and if the person doesn't even understand why people think they're dumb, then they argue in a vain attempt to comprehend the situation

He didnt know that they had to be activated just freakin drop the comment.

Back to my OP anyone else find these at their walmart. I doubt it considering walmart is so random.

 You're right. I steal them all the time. I love to steal them. Its so cool stealing cards that can't be activated unless purchased.

Poke yourself in the eye and be done with it.

Hey, I'm compassionate.

;)

This thread is dead since Mr. McKid (his avatar) killed it by that stupid remark.

Anyway, I went to Wal-Mart nearby my house and work and they are at $19.99 for the 1600 and $49.99 for the 4000.
The clerk is extremely wrong. There's nothing to activate. It's a scratch off code. It's the exact type of "security" that a lottery ticket is.. next you're going to have to tell me that the cashier at the gas station has to "activate" the lottery card so the numbers underneath will appear once scratched off.
Actually, you are wrong. I am a Electronics employee at WalMart. The Xbox Live Cards just like Prepaid phone cards must be rung through the register. If the card is not SLID through the register then it will not be activated. People steal the cards all the time... and we don't give two craps about it because they stole nothing at all besides a nice little coaster basically.

He already said in a later post that he hadn't heard of those cards before, so he's wasn't wrong, per se. It's just that he was thinking of the ones in his store.
Where's the clearance aisle?
some have em and some dont.....my walmart which is literally a few hundred yards away has one (and it sucks) and the one 2 miles down the road doesnt have one
