Is the ACIII DLC worth it at that price? I rather enjoyed the single player experience but thought that the regular DLC cost was vastly over priced, so I never purchased them.
It... depends. I enjoyed single player for the most part (really didn't like the random side missions being checkbox missions instead of short side stories), and I got the season pass before any of the DLC.

The animal powers are neat, and it's interesting to see how things go differently. But it feels incomplete and empty. Not empty of soldiers, mind you - there are a ridiculous amount of enemies everywhere. Each DLC locks you into one map location, and there isn't a lot going on outside the mission structure beyond finding chests and Save X Number of Y Type People style 'quests'. You also rarely do any assassinating, and the final boss level is exactly that - a video game boss level.

I would have preferred more of the main Connor storyline in the existing open world, but if you like alternate alternate history or what if scenarios, it'll scratch that itch. I don't regret playing them to completion, but I didn't feel satisfied when I was done.

Oh, and the developers did something rather annoying - one of main plot points refers to the PS3 exclusive mission, and I thought I had completely spaced out on something from the main game until I looked it up. So any emotional punch was completely lost on me as a 360 player, unless they were going for 'cranky about console exclusive story content'.

Yeah everyone needs to hop on ToV if they haven't already. It was $15 or less on newegg a long time ago but I believe It's out of print again. Great JRPG, probably the second best behind Lost Odyssey imho for the 360.

But man, they need to do some discounts for the first week releases or something. No one in their right mind should pay $60 a week later for Madden or Lost Planet 3 more then a week after release and digital.

But hey, I'm all for these quicker releases.

Looks like Spylon has been updating xbldb quite a bit recently.  I'm hoping he's able to remove the MSP prices from the listing since they're not being used anymore.

That's pretty much the general consensus of what I've gotten reading other reviews, although most of the complaints were the fact that the content didn't justify the heavy price tag (when in relation to purchasing the Season Pass). I'm still not sure what I'll do. I do know one thing though, I'll most certainly be getting Blood Dragon next week. :)

I'm assuming this is a permanent drop? I'd definitely like to pick it up eventually, but am not exactly wanting to jump into another 40+ hour game.
I assume the same since this is the time price drops for the month normally happen.....anyway forget any other 40+ hour game you NEED to have this if you love JRPGs and especially if you ever loved any of the other Tales of..Games (like Tales of Symphonia for example)

Of course i have everything from next week deals as well. CoJ Gunslinger is highly recommended for everyone. Enjoyed that much more than Blood Dragon. While the main missions in FC Blood Dragon are good, they are only 3-4 and on top of that pretty short. Everything else is collecting stuff and some side missions, which are the same as the ones in main FC3.

Apparently Castle of Illusions XBLA/PSN is not a good remake. :(

Man, I downloaded the Castle of Illusion demo last night, and I don't know how anybody couldn't fall in love with it immediately. As soon as it loaded, I was pulled in. It just felt like an amazing re-imagining of a classic 16 bit game. It looks and sounds AMAZING. Once I started playing, it was very fun as well. There were some spots with the platforming that got kind of frustrating, but I'm pretty sure they were like that in the original (I never had a Genesis, so I've only played the original once or twice).

But to me, it felt like a great example of "they just don't make platformers like this anymore". Honestly, I feel incredibly unCAG-like saying this, but I almost think it's worth the $15 asking price. I'll probably show it to my wife this evening and let her make the final call on it (she usually loves these kinds of games). But in this day of cheap cash ins and half-hearted efforts, I can't imagine anybody being disappointed by this game.

I love jrpgs, but I do not like Vesperia at all. Not a fan of any of the tales games past the first two honestly. Check it out before you buy, it really isn't a game for everyone.

It's a Sega game. So I'll wait a month or two and pick it up at a discount.

Is Motocross Madness a trick game or a racing game? I am not a fan of trick games. I suck terribly at them. But a motocross racing game with avatars, where you can also do tricks just for fun, that would be cool.

Yea same for me, I always used to be stingy with my points, but now that I'm forced to use currency each purchase is like "oh well that's a coffee...oh well that's a lunch"
Pffft, when I go out to eat I go "well that's a game..." Then I decide not to go out to eat and have a PB&J while playing Borderlands 2

Just caught up on the thread.

I've been in the mood for a good JRPG and have always heard about the Tales of series. Hopefully there's a demo of it so I can see if I like it.

I'm debating playing Lost Odyssey again or buying the DLC and going through the dungeon. I'm also considering buying Blue Dragon since I rented it previously and beat it but didn't do everything. Or maybe try to track down the portable version.

Another RPG I've always wanted to play is Eternal Sonata. I like Chopin so a game featuring his music has always appealed to me.

I did just buy Diablo III yesterday though... And I tried a few of the on sale games' trials.

I played the Monaco and enjoyed it but probably only have 1 friend with the game and it's built for co-op. Hopefully it has matchmaking or I'll wait for another Steam sale on it.

The RocketKnight trial was fun, but I dunno if I'll play it much so I'm thinking of passing. Same with Karateka.

Otherwise I liked the Motocross Madness trial but sucked at collecting stuff in the Egyptian level. Like someone else asked, is it more trick based or a racer? If it's the latter I'll bite.

So far I've only picked up the Mercury Hg DLC and will definitely get FC3 Blood Dragon next week.

For anyone interested in Tales of Vesperia, the demo isn't a perfect representation of the game.  The difficulty is ramped up a bit.  The boss fight at the end of the demo is one of the harder ones in the actual game (especially the early part of it) though.  I don't recall being able to change the control scheme in the demo either.  For people not used to Tales games it may be a little off-putting, but give it a chance and you'll find that Tales of Vesperia is a solid JRPG.

That being said, Lost Odyssey is my favorite RPG this generation.

Citadel ME3 DLC has still never been on sale?  That's the only one left I need to get.  I know if I pay full price it will go on sale a week later...

I already finished Lost Odyssey (incl. DLC) Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata completely. I can recommend any of those games, I also myde one playthrough through Tales of Vesperia...if I'd have to make a ranking of those games it wolud look like this:

1. Tales of Vesperia

2. Lost Odyssey

3. Blue Dragon

4. Eternal Sonata

none of these games are less than 80/100 for me, Eternal Sonata is a little underestimated, but learning about Chopin's Life while making progress through the story is kinda interesting =) (Achievementwise all of these games will take a good while ToV will probably cost the most time though)

Hows that logic working out for Sega Vintage Collection: ToeJam and Earl?

Seriously I can't believe that game hasn't dropped yet!
People always say stuff like this, but does this trend actually happen with their digital releases? With retail stuff, sure, Ubisoft and Sega are notorious for cutting prices not long after launch. But if you're just basing it on the logic that "everything goes on sale eventually", you could say that for anything. What Sega digital releases have had quick markdowns?

Oh yeah.

Sonic Adventure - Released 9/14/10 - 50% off on 12/28/10

Sonic Adventure 2 - Released 10/05/12 - 50% off on 12/19/12

Jet Set Radio - Released 9/19/12 - 50% off on 12/19/12

Daytona USA - Released 10/25/11 - 50% off on 3/26/12

Hell Yeah! - Released 9/25/12 - 50% off on 12/19/12

There's just 5 example of Sega games that dropped to half off in 3-5 months after release. If a Sega XBLA/PSN title makes it more than 6 months without a sale, it's a rare occurence.

Sega has sales on their digital games all of the time and usually don't hesitate to put newer stuff on there. The Genesis stuff doesn't seem to go on sale nearly as much as the rest of their offerings. They're one of those companies that if you're not jonesing to play their new digital game at launch, you might as well wait a few months and get it for cheaper.

That's some good info right there. 3-5 months though...bah...I'm still torn, lol. Castle of Illusion at least feels like one of those games where there's not anything like it. Maybe I'm just caught up in it, but it felt really refreshing playing it last night. Plus, I didn't buy any of the Summer of Arcade stuff. It still blows my mind that neither Castle of Illusion nor Ducktales were a part of SoA.

If you really want the game, go for it. Like we were saying, one of Sega's most recent releases is SVC: ToeJam and Earl, and that is taking forever to drop. Frisky's right about their Genesis games not dropping as frequently as the Dreamcast remakes or new content.

As for SoA, I'm just as puzzled as to why it was so lackluster this year. My only guess is that neither Capcom or Sega were interested in Xbox console exclusivity for a month or more, since I'm pretty sure that's required for SoA games.

DuckTales was on a bunch of different platforms, so Capcom probably didn't like the idea of forsaking all of them for some extra money on XBLA. Sega also put out a big pre-order bonus, the original game, for Castle of Illusion on PSN, so it seems like they were more focused on promoting that version of the game.

It's both. There is a racing mode as well as a trick mode. The trick mode is not bad at all because you need to get a certain score by performing tricks. You are not restricted to which tricks you use so you can basically do whatever you like to get the required score. You will most likely enjoy this game.

Glad I waited on Doodle Jump Kinect. Probably going to snag Nicktoons MLB since it will be so cheap and can use Kinect. Seems like forever waiting on Ducktales, but I have a bunch left from those $5($15) codes so I didn't get it on PSN.

Otherwise I liked the Motocross Madness trial but sucked at collecting stuff in the Egyptian level. Like someone else asked, is it more trick based or a racer? If it's the latter I'll bite.
Tricks involve hitting one button while you're in the air. So there is really nothing to them. The purpose of having them is to replenish your turbo bar and get a higher score. It's very fun as a racing game. Buy it.

toejam was so worth full price at release. it was such a an awesome experience playing 2 games that were my childhood on the genesis with random people online. i turn it on every now and then to see if i can find a random game but it's pretty dead unfortunately. once in a while someone's searching tho. but man the first couple weeks of playing tj&e online were some of the most fun i've had on the 360. i hope it goes on sale in a week where not much else is on sale so it gets a good player boost for a few days. unfortunately sega usually dumps a dozen games on sale at a time so i doubt it'll even boost the online player count

as for motocross madness you can play either races trick competitions or the mode where you just screw around looking for things. it seems to be very good on unlocking stuff so you can play whatever modes fancy you the most. totally worth $5. another game i wish had people online. very impressive for an arcade game, one of the most fleshed out 3d ones i've seen.

I hate to admit that I'm the exact same way. For some reason 400 MSP just sounds like less than $5. MS was really onto something with the points currency, except that most people hated it.
Points currency was disconnected from real currency and this disconnection caused double deals. For example, Target once discounted points cards at 50% off. So when you buy that card and use them in a sale on an item that is 50% off, that's being double ass cheap.

Also, there were some Microsoft Store deals where points were cheap when you used a coupon or voucher, but I don't know if that is going to work for straight up gift certificates. Time will tell.

Yeah I know, someone in this thread reminds us about the MS Store $5 for 1200 MSP deal almost every day.

hmmm... I decided to buy Mercury HG and its two add-ons on my 360 but the two add-ons don't show as purchased on the console but it  does on-line.

I was gonna buy Castlevania:HoD but after playing the demo for a bit I could tell the game is not for me.I guess ill just wait until Tuesday and get Nicktoons:MLB

Tell me about it. I've been waiting for it to go on sale so I can play through the game again. Still waiting.

Finally played Rocket Knight thanks to you guys and I'm def getting it. Can't believe I never even heard of it before, but it hasn't gone on sale in 3 years and this is a great price.

Damn once again ME3 dlc goes on sale and im debating whether to get it or wait until I finally get the dlc for part 2 because by the time I get through it the ME3 stuff might be on sale for even more. Curse my cheapass ways.

"I was looking forward to getting the Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC, and a few other things but I'm gonna pass because the marketplace is still charging me tax on my converted points."
That message gave me pause too, but I just purchased the Leviathan 3 DLC using funds that were converted from points and I was not charged tax. The total cost was as listed, $4.99.

Quick question: is this the first time the ME3 DLC has gone on sale? Also, has the Dragon Age 2 DLC ever gone on sale?
