Will buy Ducktales, eventually. Loved that game back in NES times.

So DuckTales just released on XBLA, but there's no demo. Am I just too quick here and the file's coming soon, or is this a new thing that XBLA games don't need to have demos anymore?

Hey All,

Sorry that I haven't been able to be around for such a long time.  With all the changes going on at xbox.com, change to real $, introduction of the new Xbox, and the updates required to xbldb.com I definitely plan on working hard on xbldb.com and making my self available for feedback.

Hopefully you guys have noticed some major changes in the site.  The site had been experiencing some feature bloat that was causing it to slow down during some of the recent sales.  To alleviate that I have disabled some functionality, the social features, inbox, member list etc and the forums are disabled.

The social features were never really used so those won't be back.  I do like having forms so I am looking at bringing those back, possible using a sub domain.

The change over to real currency is almost complete.  Please let me know if you see any issues and what everyone thinks of the site changes!

Thanks,

Spylon

I tried the morocco account thing (some hours ago), and couldn't connect to live with it. And my console doesn't have morocco region available, so I didn't know what to do.
You sure you couldn't get live? The Moroccon Marketplace looks plain as hell so it may have appeared u weren't on Live. You had to go to jeux, then mas juex, and manually search for the games. I was in the belief that I was not on XBL for a while before I just figured I'd try it and it worked.

Site works awesomely for me. Currency conversion seemed to work well, everything I used from the website for the OP update worked perfectly. Thanks for maintaining the site!

So i changed my xbox points into microsoft credit. Is there anyway I can pay with this credit when I "buy" games via a computer (and not the xbox system itself). Whenever I try, it makes me use the creditcard I have on file.

Question. Last week's sale drained what was left of my point stash which means I now have to redeem more cards. What I'm wondering is if it's safe to redeem via the website or if that's also all screwed up and I should redeem it via the console instead.
Didn't see that this question was answered. If it was, I'm sorry. I haven't had any problems with redeeming points cards online since the conversion to local currency. I've done it with 2 or 3 cards so far.

You currently cannot purchase anything on Xbox.com with your balance of funds on hand with microsoft. Can only use credit card or Paypal account.

You can purchase with your microsoft balance from your console though. I've done this several times with no problems.

Sorry to clog this thread with a basic question, but I'm hoping someone can give me a quick answer about how Games on Demand works across machines. If I buy something under my XBL account and download it to my 360, can I log in to my account on someone else's machine and download the game again? I'm not a gold member if that matters.

You can download it onto a different machine, but that second machine will need the profile that bought the game to be logged in to play it. That's my understanding of it.

And my save file for Flashback has somehow been overridden so the game won't let me access it eventhough it's right there on my HDD with the time and everything when I last played. Yeah, fuck this game and I'm glad I got this shit game for free.

OK, thanks, that's what I figured.
there's two licenses...one for the first console you purchase the content on, and one for the gamertag used to buy the content. The "workaround", is if you initially buy something on a friend's xbox with your gamertag...its tied to his console, but also your gamertag so you can redownload the game back on your xbox and you can both play at the same time.

It's good if you have a friend that wants the same game...you can split the cost and both get the game digitally.

Added a big red note to the top of the OP about not being able to use account balances on xbox.com at the moment.  Seems like that question keeps coming up so hopefully that helps.

Oh, that's even better. So I could buy something that's on sale this week through the website, rather than directly from my 360, and then choose to download it for the first time when I log in to my friend's 360 when I see him in a few weeks and the game would remain on his 360 for him to play after I leave? Plus I can download it my to my own machine later on? That's exactly what I need.

Anybody recommend Lego batman? I've never played the Lego games before.
None of them? Wow I figured everybody had tried them by now. I'd say only if you have a co-op partner. The games are playable solo but it's never really worth it. They're designed for co-op and collecting.

I always do it directly through my friends xbox but I guess you could do it from the website. Just make sure your xbox isn't on, and you'd probably have to go to the download queue on the xbox website to remove the game (that way it doesn't automatically download to your xbox when you sign in)

Also note, if you do this, your gamertag would need to be signed into Xbox Live to play from your xbox. The console license can play offline but the gamertag license needs to check into xbox live to make sure its your gamertag using it.

With the Lego games, if you are a fan of what the game is about then you'll like it. I'm not a Batman fan so I could barely play it, however I loved Lego LOTR and enjoyed Lego Star Wars. The gameplay is about the same in all of them, but with different characters/abilities. Very fun.

Live is broken right now dude. Purchases takes hours to reflect properly, horrible lag in games, free games(!!), etc It sucks but all  you can do is wait until a demo is put up.

Also, does anyone here post on other deal sites? This site has become useless outside of this and a few other threads.

I don't even leave this thread anymore, I just refresh it whenever I get a break at work.

Useless? Deals are posted just like always. Anything on other sites gets here too. Not really sure what you're expecting.

No kidding about Live being broken right now. I tried to "purchase" the free compatibility pack for Borderlands 2 through the in game marketplace and get the 80153021 error. The popup says my account has been locked. Check support and it says same thing or my billing info is incorrect.

I spend 30 minutes in chat with MS support and she has me jump through diagnostic hoops to find out what's wrong. Turns out there is no lock on my account, no problems and my account is "clean."

This after the fiasco with being charged tax on my converted points. I spoke with them last week, got referred up the food chain to a Billing Specialist. They couldn't tell me why I was charged tax on those points. I was only told that they had an obligation to collect them.

Here's the irony to the tax situation, turns out in talking with J7 he cracked the code. Turns out that the taxes are being collected on points from XBL rewards points that were added to your account. He had a similar problem and noticed he wasn't being charged tax after he spent that amount of currency. I checked it out by making a few small test purchases and after spending the amount that XBL rewards put into my account prior to the change over I'm not being charged tax any longer on my converted currency.

So J7 figured out what Xbox support couldn't tell us or figure out for that matter. Love how the "Billing Specialist" responded to my problem, stating he was sorry I misunderstood their policy. Anyways, for those that get charged tax on converted currency that is most likely what is happening.

Yeah, I'm also confused by what you mean by that. Deals seem to hit the front page just like normal. Grabbed 3 games from Gamefly earlier this week and I missed out that Madden/Razor deal but that was a way good deal too.

Almost every Arcade game I've seen released in the last month or so (or longer) hasn't had a trial version released with the full version, the trial versions release a day or so later.

IMO it's one of the things I hate most about MS lately. I used to love trying Arcade games the day (or minute in some cases) they are released and deciding if it was worth buying. Not anymore.

I'm having trouble when downloading Injustice, after it finish downloading it doesn't install and start downloading again, then tried to download ikagura which is very small and it didn't install. is this happening to anyone else? do I need to change region tu US and then download again like when AC3 was free? would really apreciate the help :)

Anyone get Blood Dragon and having issues where the saves all say "LOCKED"? I've passed numerous checkpoints and have manually saved as well but keep having to start at the beginning!

i noticed this start happening around the time the beta for the MS points conversion came out,i used to be able to dl the full game/trial around 3am PST every week until that now theres no telling when stuff is gonna show up.

Would you know how transfer licensing work? Say I made an account, dled a game in my Xbox from that account, then give my bro the account sign in to redeem on his Xbox. I know I could play whatever game from that account since its on my HDD using my main account, but what about my bro. Transfer licensing will make it so he could play the content on his main account and so will I? Not sure, I never did it yet.

Demos going up a day late? Is this what we're complaining about now?

I mean, I'm cool with it mobbing up. Down with M$ and all that.

Played the Ducktales demo and it is fun, but I see why the reviews said the cut scenes were annoying. There were like 5 cut scenes in the demo, which was short as hell, and even though you can bypass them you have to pause the game each time.

So I'm on my PC and MS wants me to upload a Credit Card so I can download a freakin' free Demo??  :booty:   :dunce:  :wall:  :shame:  :nottalking:

fuck that noise.

On download, a local license will have been issued to your Xbox allowing anyone to play the game on that console offline. Playing the game on another Xbox (like your brother's) would require your main (licensed) account to be signed in to xbox live.

A license transfer ALL of your console's licenses to his Xbox. Now, anyone could play them on his Xbox, but your (licensed) profile would need to be online to play your games on your console.

Hope that helps. Feel free to PM if not.

I was curious about that particular. So if you transfer licenses from xbox1 to xbox2, all local licenses are transfered regardless the accounts? So if you have 2 profiles in xbox1 which have downloaded several games each one, and you do the transfer to xbox2, both profiles 'lose' the local licenses in xbox1?

You know, I haven't spent any money on XBL in a while and with this sale I was about to drop $50.  However, I can't get it to process my paypal account. So I've talked myself out of it.  Sorry, Microsoft.

If you didn't get the news MS decided that they don't have to have demos in the future at all...In reverse they will most probably get rid of it and will do something similar like the PS4 with their streaming...they may even use the same company to do that...

The demos for everything on XBLA/XBLIG was a big selling point for me. That will royally suck if they do away with it. Case in point: I demoed Cloudberry Kingdom and then bought it on XBLA rather than PSN - there was no demo on PSN.

I think demos are great, but they are like a double edged sword.  They can help drive sales or they can turn people off.  For example, I was planning to get Diablo 3, but after trying the demo I decided to pass.  That's happened to me with a lot of games.  Had there been no demo, I might've wasted my money.

But why should you care whether a game company makes money by your uninformed purchase? Demos are good for consumers.

I don't care if they do or not. I agree demos are great for us. Saved me money on some games, and also got me interested in other games I probably wouldn't have considered had there not been a demo. I think every game should have a demo.

I apologize if this has already been answered many times in the past few weeks: so I went to go make my first purchase since the points conversion (doing it through the Xbox, not the website). When I go to check out, I see my $2 that was converted in the "Switch payment option" menu, but it is grayed out. Does this mean I am going to have to call and get something straightened out? Or was it grayed out because $2 wasn't enough to complete the purchase?  I'm wondering if I have to proceed using one of my cards and then I will be prompted to use my credit..

Anyone else having trouble downloading Blood Dragon? It's giving me an error on XBL and saying the page was moved when I try to buy it via my PC.

Demos can drive you away from a game, sure, but they can get you to buy a game you would not have. Again, see Cloudberry Kingdom, which when I saw videos of it I thought I would not like. I tried the demo and I loved it and bought it. Sale made. And I think happy customers are good for sales. If people are having a lot of regret after purchases, that leads to fewer sales in the future. Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it. LOL. Yes to demos for everything! I wish PSN did that too. The don't even have close to enough demos.
