Wow, Sleeping Dogs huh? I have a copy on ps3 and I already got Lara when it was free for an hour or two earlier this year. 2 solid choices, but none that help me out. Atleast I can focus on Eternal Sonata and the other games I bought during this holiday season.

It's not a month that will make us forget Rainbow Six, but it's quality.
Actually I entirely forgot about Rainbow 6. Yeah I skipped that one too, because I have always hated the Rainbow 6 series dating back to the very first one on PC.

The vast majority of games have been Worthy though. Even people trashing Defense Grid.... man I gave it a whirl and then got hooked. You can't judge if it's good by whether it's a GoD or not. There are plenty of awful GoD games IMO, and plenty of really good Arcade games.

Great GWG choices. Sleeping Dogs is awesome; I already completed it and traded the disc in, but it'll be nice to be able to pop it in and just tool around whenever. The Halloween DLC was really good too. And I've never played Lara Croft But I've heard it's pretty good.
GoL was an awesome game. My buddy and I had a blast playing that co-op and we both got the completion on it. :)

Sleeping Dogs works since I bought my copy from the Hungarian marketplace earlier this year so now it seems I can get it legit without fear of getting banned.

For those talking about the GoL co-op... what makes it so good or stand out?
Each character has their own ability you need to beat stages or get treasure. Add to it the controls being smooth and just the game being fun even alone and yeah, it's a fantastic game.

Does anyone know if future dlc included in the AC:IV season pass will be MP only? tried looking it up but ended up finding vague descriptions of single player missions and multiplayer packs. Freedom Cry is $10 and the pass is supposed to be a $25 value so it would be eh if the remaining DLC was just 4 more MP packs or something.

I already bought Sleeping Dogs on Xbox when it was on sale, then got all the trophies in it again when it was on PS+ free later. It really is a fun game.

Already have the tomb raider game too from PS+.

Guess im lucky since i dont have gold anymore with xbox anyway.

So glad to see Sleeping Dogs and Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light for this months free games. SUPER score. Those were both on my list of hopes for the final day sale - so now I'm happy even if the last day of the sale is bunk.
You couldn't afford me anyway...

Already own and 100%-ed both of those free games.  Highly recommended.  I'm not even pissed because this gives me more time to catch up on the other free games I haven't even started yet...

Bought a good bit on this sale already, but one game I'm on the fence about is Foul Play. Didn't try out the demo (lack of HD space) and may not have time tonight. I do have a fair share of beat em ups already, (Castle Crashers, Charlie Murder, etc), so I guess the main question I have is how well it stacks up to some of them.

I got GoL for free on the PS3 back when Gamespot accidentally gave away full copies of the game several years ago.  Great game.  Maybe I could clean up some achievements in Sleeping Dogs, but somehow I doubt I'll get around to that.

Got lara croft when it was free a long time ago, havent even played it.
and it will be the first gwg game that I own already.

Bought Sleeping Dogs when it was released. Great game. I have also been thinking about getting Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for the wife and I to play, so awesome!

I played the demo and it was decent. I don't know if it quite justifies $7.50, but I'll buy it for the style and presentation alone, plus Acevedo's review.

Damn. I was really excited at the idea of Just Cause 2.

If you don't own Sleeping Dogs, it's really great. I enjoyed the hell out of it and 100%'d the game & DLC. I sold it back last month, so it's cool to have it back on Xbox.

My point is if the purpose of a Season Pass is truly to pass savings onto gamers, and not, as I believe, to get even more money beyond a fucking pre-order down before the game is even out. Why so Season 2 pass? Pitchford literally LAUGHED at the fucking question when he was asked, and you want me to believe that dick want's us to get content at a good value? Yeah, no. I love Borderlands 2 and the DLC is solid, but to pretend for a moment that they arent squeezing that thing for every dime fans and passerby are worth is a fantasy.
I understand your point, but it's pretty naive to think that any developer (even an indie developer) does not want to maximize their profits. Borderlands 2 had a ton of content just in the basic game alone, so I think the DLC was handled well. I have never heard anyone argue that it was chopped down so DLC could be sold, etc. and I think that would be a hard argument for anyone willing to try (i'm not saying you are). I am concerned about how DLC is handled as much as anyone, but when the basic game gives you a good amount of content, DLC should only be looked at as "bonus" potential purchase to extend an already great experience.

The proof is in the pudding for Borderlands 2 Season Pass since we can look at everything in retrospect. The DLC was mostly good quantity and quality (as good or better than most any other DLC). They delivered on their promise for the DLC amount and quality from most perspectives (and in fact exceeded it in some ways), so anything they sold on top of that shouldn't be criticized simply because it wasn't free.

I do agree that season passes do offer the potential for developers/publishers to slack off on the quantity or quality of DLC since they may already have your money before the DLC is released, but that's not the case for Borderlands 2.

It isn't the DLC that bugs me, and I think that's the idea you have. The DLC is exactly what it needed to be, my issue lies not in the fact that it's there, but that it was sold as a "Season Pass" when the term "season" remains undefined in the realm of video games. While it has been more of a fear of what could be rather than what is up until now, the reality is that Gearbox is the first to come outright and say "we're making a second wave of content beyond 4" but they also said season pass holders don't get it included, and that there would be no Season pass for that second wave. Now, had it been marketed accordingly i'd be fine with it, but the idea was, at least when Borderlands 2 began selling their "Season Pass" was that this concept existed as a sort of "I want it all, so reward me for my loyalty" idea, and once they realized they could make further money off the game (likely in part because the BL2 season pass sold so well) they didn't hesitate to take that road and scoff at those who dared to ask "what about my loyalty". Again, the DLC itself is not my issue, it's that nobody at gearbox has any honest concern for saving anyone money, so they shouldn't pretend that they do until it no longer fits their current marketing strategy.

I am hoping Microsoft picks some pretty crappy games as the giveaways for February, since I already own everything remotely decent apparently.

I just picked up a physical copy of Sleeping Dogs a couple of weeks ago to go with the Digital Copy I already own. Lara Croft was one of the first arcade games I've ever bought....still haven't played it.

I got about half way through Sleeping Dogs and reluctantly sold away my physical copy for more than I paid for it, very happy to get it for free and be able to finish it, really good game.

And somehow GoL has eluded me until this point, so finally a game I haven't played or don't already own on GWG... awesome :)

I understand and mostly agree. But the definition of Season is that is is a limited amount of time and does not necessarily mean all-inclusive. If I buy a season pass to Disney World, it only gets me in free for a standard period of time. On top of that, food and other things are not free once I get there. To be honest, I don't recall specifically how the Season Pass was marketed, but I don't recall them claiming that it would include all content they would release. I only recall them discussing what was included. It seems like anyone could have assumed that would be everything since most games don't have that much DLC.

You are correct that Season Pass is basically a bad term and inherently creates confusion. They should be sold as DLC packages/bundles or some other name that better represents the intent. Regardless, as long as the promised content is delivered according to how the Season Pass or other item was sold, it's unfair to criticize Gearbox or anyone else from trying to make extra money on top of it. However, they would have been smart to somehow offer those extras at a discount for Season Pass subscribers to help eliminate the confusion and hostility.

Happy about Sleeping Dogs. Already own GoL, but cool that it is a free game.

My haul from this sale so far: UMvC3, Brothers, Charlie Murder, Trials Evo, Peggle/Nights, NFL Blitz, TWD episodes, and TWAU. Not bad. Hoping for Super Meat Boy and Shadow Complex to go on sale and then I'm pretty much good when it comes to arcade games. Maybe grab SoD in a year or something when it goes for $5.

It sucks though, I'm kind of at the point where I have so many games I haven't played yet that I'm playing nothing. I don't know how to approach playing all these fucking games I don't need.

Alright, now that we're all in agreement that this month is solid, I am entering hype mode for tomorrows final sale. So painfully curious. What's left?

I think many of us are facing the same issue. There is really no good strategy besides "going cold turkey", stop buying any more games, until you have made a dent on your current one. The digital backlog is the worse since you only have a finite time to take advantage of these digital sales.

Sounds like a good plan. I think I've gotten into a routine/addiction of buying games that are on sale... I definitely need a break.

Got $15 more to spend on my MS account then I'm out. Buying games/looking for deals should not take up more time than actually playing them, and it's probably pretty close for me.

Gearbox was very honest and upfront about what you would get and what you wouldn't get with the season pass well before the first DLC was available.

Like the original game, Borderlands 2 will be supported with four add-on content campaigns. These four add-on content campaigns will be available individually or as a combined purchase of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass. This special offer, available starting on September 18, includes nearly $40.00 of add-on content and will be available for $29.99 (PlayStation®Network) / 2400 Microsoft Points (Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network) / $29.99 (Windows PC). Once purchased, the Borderlands 2 Season Pass enables gamers to download all of the announced add-on content campaigns for free as they become available on the PlayStation®Network, Xbox LIVE and Windows PC. All four add-on content campaigns are scheduled to be available by June 2013.

The very page you linked proves my point. "Like the original game, Borderlands 2 will be supported with FOUR add-on campaigns" - If they were gonna go beyond FOUR, don't pretend you're not cashing out by not offering even those who purchased the initial "season pass" a discount.

Well here goes....the two games for January suck.  I wasn't impressed with the demo of Laura Croft and sleeping dogs isn't something I'd enjoy.  There's the complaint.  Happy?

I fail to see how you don't see the enjoyment in sticking a man in the jaw and then lifting him up only to throw him onto a SWORDFISH.

I've been curious about the Tomb Raider game, so glad thats a GwG...Sleeping Dog's I'll pass on.  The demo had so many shaq-fu bombs I couldn't believe it and thats just not the kinda game I want to play...I hear enough gratuitous swearing in the schools I work in! XD  Thats just me, though.

Backloggery has helped me be more productive in my backlog. It helps switching up categories and across systems to make the backlog more manageable or at least less depressing.

Very interesting perspective. Could always rock the Chinese voices and it'll just feel more authentic!

is that really an option? subtitles?
Yeah, I looked into it and it just doesn't cut it for me. Sometimes gratuitous swearing is hilarious (like House of the Dead: Overkill, or MadWorld) but Sleeping Dogs just doesn't seem like my kinda game...too....angry, I think. I don't like angry games like GTA etc. Just not my style.

I dont care for sleeping dogs but I have been wanting to play that lara croft game =)

I still need to know whats going to be on sale on the 31st =/

Who wants to take a guess on the last days sale(s)?

Will it be one great item? A bunch of shitty games? Maybe a handful of greats?

I think if Gearbox referred to the other stuff they released as "campaigns," people would be screaming a lot louder. They released four add-on campaigns and the pass included those four. I don't ever purchase anything (video games or otherwise) where I expect to get more than advertised.
