I can't for the life of me figure out how to pay for stuff on Xbox.com with my old points that were converted to currency.  I can use them while purchasing on my 360, but I can't find any option to use them on the Xbox.com site.  It is driving me crazy.  I just bought Fez on the Xbox site, but it used my Paypal account instead of my existing Xbox funds.  So I just deleted the Paypal option and now it says "You have no valid payment options on file".  Sigh

Unfortunately, you can only pay cash on the Xbox Live webpage. Points can only be spent via console itself.

That's because you can't. They haven't updated the currency and might never. The only way to use old converted currency is to use the Xbox directly and not the site. I for one miss that feature. Was very convenient though and I'm still trying to use up the points from the $5 fiasco.

Thanks for the replies.  I used to be able to use my points balance on the site.  So are they just giving us the finger with that option now that it is converted to cash?  Not sure why they would take that away.  I've never heard of another service where you can only use your previously bought gift card balance on one specific platform (360 only, no web).   It would be kind of like Best Buy saying that now you can only use your Best Buy gift card balance in store only and not online.

Sucks because I am going to be out of town over the holidays, so I can't use my old points balance for anything while I'm away from my 360.  Booo.

I ended up getting Fez and Spelunky. I wouldn't have ever bought these if they weren't this low, but at those prices I couldn't resist. I tried the demo a while back for Fez and liked it well-enough but didn't ever plan on buying it. Got it now though, so whatever.

Here's hoping that the rest of the month has great deals like these.

And hopefully there are no console updates either. I just connected to live for the first time in a couple weeks and had to wait over an hour for the most recent update to download and install. Supposedly this is a first-world nation I'm in, because of the relation to Denmark, but I'm not seeing it.

Can also use it on Xbox One, Windows Phone 8, and Windows 8 games/apps.

This 100%. It's pathetic that they haven't fixed it by now for this very reason. I guess they figure "Who cares. People will buy stuff anyway". And they're probably right. It's just sad that a company can reach that point with their service and people just have to smile and take it.

Let me sum it up for anyone interested in Spelunky that's going to ask about it...it's created one of the bigger disconnects between us gamers so it's best to just try the free trial to find out whether or not it floats your boat.

Also Microsoft states that our old funds will disappear in June of 2015.  I thought it was illegal now for gift card balances to evaporate into the ether.  Kind of a shitty tactic even if it's not.   Points were bought with real money and real money should never vanish.

I know. Not to get all "console warz" but at least for me it was many little features and quality-of-life conveniences just like this that all added up to Xbox Live being the premier service and PSN looking amateurish in comparison. Now it's like Microsoft doesn't even care about maintaining that usability advantage anymore.

Hey guys, is there any reason to NOT request an early deposit on acquired credits from the 'Xbox Live Rewards' program's webpage
As far as I can tell it doesn't actually do anything. I requested an early deposit a couple weeks ago because I wanted the most credit possible for the sales. It said the deposit date was Dec 18th, so I logged on today and I still have 4750 credits and it now says the next deposit date is Jan 8th. Anyone else see anything deposited today? Am I just being impatient?

I ask some advice from you all -

How wise would it be to buy Tekken Tag 2 digitally right now? I know a sale just started, but it was marked down to $20 just this month. It's $15 over Amazon, or $20 locally in stores. Should I wait for it to possibly go on sale? I don't have much time to play after a few weeks, so time matters in this case. Really tempted to just pull the trigger on it right now over live.

Already had Spelunky and despite the many times I've tried the Terraria demo, I just couldn't get into it.  Still a bit sad the whole list hasn't been leaked like previous times.  It would make my decision making a bit easier.  Oh well, until tomorrow!

Don't know if its been mentioned but there appears to be a new "Doctor Strange" table for Pinball FX2, and it's free.

It was only $6 at Target on clearnce like 3 weeks ago. Probably sold out at most stores now but you might want to check. Maybe wait to see if it becomes part of the Christmas sale, but there's plenty of game there even for $20.

Spelunky would be instant buy if not for the inclusion of a forced time mechanic with the Grim Reaper showing up. Seriously why? Haven't played but does this bother any of you?
Its pretty essential to what makes it an outstanding game, so no it doesn't bother me. A huge part of the game is making risk vs reward decisions. Allowing you to take as much time as you want would undercut that in a major way.

Same here. Maybe they just updated the date for next deposit but the actual deposits come later today. I've used the early deposit before and it worked just fine.

Those of you praising Fez, did you really
translate all those hidden languages within the game
yourself? Really?
I did. One of the great things about playing right at release was that none of that stuff was even on the internet if you wanted to cheat.
The sort of 'rosetta stone' was a dead giveaway if you are familiar with that particular expression. After that all you needed was pen and paper.

That game gives back if you commit to it, but its definitely not for everyone.

The first day I had Spelunky I thought the ghost was a bad inclusion, but then I realized we're given enough time to clear the stage anyway. Usually the only time I'm in a stage that long is when I want the ghost to convert treasure into diamonds. The ghost now feels more like a score boosting device than a time limit device.

The MSP card is the gift card. Once it's redeemed, it becomes store credit, which can expire whenever.

Borderlands 2 Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack dropped to free. This is the one included with the Borderlands 2 Season Pass and is different from the Pack 2 that was on sale yesterday as part of the countdown.

For awhile, I thought this was pack 2 that was on sale yesterday and we were all getting punched in the junk...glad to see it's the first. Thanks for sharing.

While that was true for a long time, you can also buy PSN games from your web broswer now and even an Android app. I agree with the quality-of-life thing - I am much more excited for Gaikai implementation and the future of PS+ than any of the actual games on PS4.

Quick question about GoD vs disc-based titles:

I have Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 installed on my HDD at the moment. Decided to install it the day I got it, to cut down on load times (and disc-wear, since I knew I was gonna have that disc spinnin' quite a bit). If I buy the GoD title, will it sit there and take forever to install? Or would it be like when you have a trial Arcade game on the HDD (which I know is actually the full game, just locked) and the buy the full version and it just DL's a couple kbs real quick?

I'm assuming that the GoD version has slightly different enough code or something to need to fully download, but am not totally sure.

Yup, they're all settled now, but it took a while to get there. I bought my PS3 on Black Friday 2011 and I just couldn't believe that the PSN didn't have an equivalent to live.xbox.com where you could make purchases. And IIRC it was only this year that they finally got it going. That's the kind of advantage that Microsoft should be reinforcing and building on rather than letting it slip away.

Wouldn't pay .50 for Fez myself. Had nothing to offer me that I hadn't played in better classic games or modern platformers. Never once understood the praise for it besides from indie game hipsters who think the only good games are obscure indie ones.

The idea that someone mentioned it as a GOTY candidate is one of the most laughable things I ever heard. There are indie games on the actual indie section that have more to offer by far than Fez. It has little to do with the part of it's designer being an internet troll either. It's just a lackluster homage to better games of the past that you've already played.
Maybe the weirdest post I've ever read. I rarely play indie games and just thought Fez was very fun and had fun puzzle solving. It also had a pretty cool soundtrack too, for a game of that size. I thought how you can rotate and manipulate the environment was pretty unique among games I've played.

Yeah I found Fez to be really crappy. I hope later tonight we get some awesome deals, I am really hoping for a day were we get fighting games on sale.

Go watch some gameplay videos and see if you think you'd like it. It's a great game, but not your typical shooter. More of a FPS with adventure elements.

They suck at properly labeling "trials" when it comes to the Pinball FX tables.

I'm impressed. I wasn't as committed to the game to search high and low for clues, but even if I was I honestly doubt I wouldn't have figured it out.

But wasn't the fox jumping over the log just one of the three languages? I guess by figuring that out you could have figured out that there were going to be other cryptographic languages as well. The Tetris one I probably could have figured out, but the numbers one I don't think I would have got in a million years either. It also doesn't help that cryptograph (replacing letters or symbols with other letters) puzzles are my absolute least favorite. It was all just way too obscure for my tastes unfortunately.

I never payed a Bioshock game but would be worth it to pick up BioShock Infinite for $13?
I'd suggest playing the first BioShock before tackling Infinite.
The ending (and current DLC) to Infinite kinda sorta ties into Bioshock 1's setting/world. You might be a little lost once you get to the end.

But basically....yes. Buy Infinite now then go find a used BioShock copy for $8-$9.

I'm buying Terraria because a buddy of mind is gonna load up the his game in co-op and give me all the achievements. Nice easy completion to help me along to the top 100 in the world for completed games.

Wish List:

Bad Company 2 DLC
Bad Company 2 only had one paid DLC, the Vietnam Expansion pack, and the population for that is pretty much dead.

HELL yes. My pick for 2013 GOTY, and one of the all time best 360 games in my opinion.

I'm actually trying to decide if I'm going to pick it up again on this sale or get another hard copy @ bestbuy. I have reward zone certs and ms points to burn. Decisions...

Also really hoping Infinite DLC shows up on this sale before it's over!

Thanks for the help on the remote buying. However it lead to a hilarious password snafu, lockout of xbla for 30 days to ensure security, and 45 dead end minutes on tech support chat with MS. The things we do for cheap games we won't play!

To be clear, I'm blaming no one but myself. Just thought it was darkly funny enough to share.

The new security features are definitely excessive.

Get the bioshock games to the dude that hasn't played them. $13 is good but wait for that price on a physical copy like I'm probably going to do. $5 for umvc is good but again I wait for the disc to get down to that price point.

Hey Capcom how about duck tales for $5???

Damn, missed that, was studying haha. I'll check. I'm sure it's worth $20, but I'd for there to be a fighting game day of the sale and miss a discount.
