They aren't predicting to make 2.5 billion back in one year. That would be insane. What that means is they will match the revenue they would have generated by letting that 2.5 billion sit in a bank over the same time period (which i've read is around 20 million or something).

On one hand that makes me respect Notch less because it goes contrary to so much of what he's said since they exploded. On the other hand if he turned down $2.5 Billion he would be just stupid.

On top of the fact that perhaps he was looking out for the best interests of his employees. Could you really deny a payout like that to the people you've been working for? Especially if you don't want to be there any longer?

I myself never played minecraft. I don't have the imagination or creativity to be of any use in a game like that. But if it's that popular, take the money and run.

 
I think everyone missed the point I was trying to make. Microsoft bought the company, but not the actual creative mind that made the product. They're buying the Minecraft name only. Does anyone really think Minecraft 2 is going to even come close to matching the phenomena of the original? This is Zynga, and Guitar Hero all over again.

Sure they will make tons of money for the foreseeable future, but it won't last. They should have done this years ago, and got in on the ground floor. The next "Minecraft" will be right around the corner to out-shadow whatever Microsoft does next.

I'm totally happy for Notch, and respect him for being honest with everyone and himself. I wish him the best.

Notch hasn't worked on Minecraft for a few years. Jens, his second-in-command when they started working on Minecraft after setting up Mojang, took over in his place and has been the main guy since then.

Minecraft was technically on sale at launch for XBLA. Best Buy sold codes on launch day for $15 instead of $20. That's the last time it'll ever be on sale ever again.

They aren't predicting to make 2.5 billion back in one year. That would be insane. What that means is they will match the revenue they would have generated by letting that 2.5 billion sit in a bank over the same time period (which i've read is around 20 million or something).

Is that what that means? I knew it couldn't mean that they'd made 2.5 bil on the Minecraft name over the next 12-24 months or whatever fiscal time frame they're looking at.

Yeah, only discount at this point is if you rent a 360 disc for it and unlock a few cheevos. Then you can get the XBO version for $5

Ok after some research, I think I'm finally getting what is what with all this DLC. I thought ALL the BL2 DLC was on sale before. I also didn't know there were a bunch of skins for sale, which I don't care about.

I ended up getting BL 1, BL 2, and all 5 Headhunter packs. I'll wait for the Vault Upgrade 2 to go on sale. Now I just have to "rent" both GOTYs, and I'll have it all!!! (pretty much)
 
Still looking for people for a fresh run of Borderlands 1/2 and all the dlc. Since it's still on sale and if people were on the fence, i wouldn't mind taking them through the wasteland. It would be nice if you had a mic, but it's not a dealbreaker. We could figure out who is playing who when we get enough people.

 
Borderlands ..... Destiny .... Halo Reach. I get the feeling the next sale WON'T involve first person shooters.  But if they discount Far Cry 2 this week, I won't complain.

Decided to go through the backlog alphabetically (finished Asura's Wrath last week) and saw Battleblock Theater. That game is so much fun. I hope no one missed out on this when it was free. I'll try the multiplayer in between Reach.

So yeah, final prediction for this week is a sale on side scrolling platformers - preferably ones I don't know about or own yet (Shank 1, please).

It took me about 4 days of constant research to discover what is and isn't in the GOTY's and what the season pass's offered you. After coming to the same conclusion you did, i did the same exact thing your planning on doing with borrowing the GOTY's from Gamestop. Finding BL2 GOTY used was a bit of a pain because it was only found at the mall in my State, and i hate that mall. (Parking is atrocious in this place). After all was said and done though, i only paid $21 for both games and the "Missing" DLC. A huge score IMO (especally since the xbox credit i used was from the Tyrant Unleased debacle) So i technically only spent $2 out of pocket for the games (for parking at that fuck Mall)

Edit: I was in Gamestop for less then 3 mins BUT IT TOOK OVER 30 MINS TO GET OUT OF THAT fuck PARKING GARAGE! I hate Providence Place Mall, I hate it....

It is tonight, wonder what'll b this time. Didn't get anything on BL sale, even though I have $ to spend 5 for each DLC pisses me off my cheapS won't allow it, eventually I'll get a deal on GOTY addition!

I don't know about u guys but I'm not sure what they could put on sale at this point that I would actually buy: seems like I have or have had just about everything I would want from last gen. Maybe they will actually have a decent current gen deal at some point.
 
They should just drop the prices of everything to match market value.  Sure 360 and DLC sales will pick up a lot more then.

I know what you mean. I'm just about done with the 360. There's so much shit to play for current gen, especially in the coming months, that I just don't have time to go back to old ass games. After playing Metro Redux this past week, the 360 seems so ancient now. The ol girl is about ready to be put out to pasture.
 
Come on $5 ME3 Citadel DLC. Even SR4 $8 or Southpark Stick $10 or Lego Marvel for $8 or DOA5U $9...make it happen MS.  :pray:

I'm pretty happy with my decision to stay on the 360. Getting a lot of good deals lately and getting a chance to play stuff I missed out on over the years. Put 30+ hours into Fallout 3 recently and still don't even feel like I'm half way done with it. Absolutely fantastic game, wish I got into this years ago. I think I'm going to make the switch to the Xbox One when they're going for $300+ extras (Black Friday maybe?) or when my friends make the jump. I'm really just turned off by the lack of next gen exclusives at this point, but I might be singing a different tune when Master Chief collection comes out.

I just got my X1 this week, the dozens (annnnnd dozens) of games in the 360 backlog keeps me playing on the 360 -- but it's the abysmal way the menus are setup on the X1 that makes me want to use it as little as necessary; it just feels so alien. I'm sure eventually I'll get more comfortable with it, probably just in time for the upcoming dash update.
 
On the horizon, i see my date aproaching and from this distance i can clearly see she has long legs. Hopefully when she gets closer, they will look the same.
