That is the biggest issue. The previous 2 with all the DLC (which I also own) would take me forever to get through. The curse of the backlog and wanting to play with the new shiny toys.

Origins is worth playing for sure, especially on PC. Dragon Age 2 is worth playing for a couple hours and then being done because at that point everything else is just recycled from what you just played.

At this point though I would say just jump into Inquisition. They get you updated enough with the story so you arent really missing anything. You could appreciate a bunch of smaller appearances and comments having played the previous games but as a whole I would not say you are missing out. Hands down of the 3, Inquisition is the best too since it takes all the great parts of Origins, what they tried to do with 2 and then combines it all into a perfectly crafted game.

Cliff notes: Buy Inquisition. : )

 
Dang, don't want to play DA now because I don't have the time to put into it. I bought Mass Effect 1 - 3 during GameStop's used deal promo for $9.99 and don't even want to start that series for the same reason. I think I'm cooling off the games. Except for Mass Effect, I don't think I've bought a game in physical form in a while and I definitely haven't bought much digital lately cuz of the chance it'll go GwG. I'm even thinking of selling my collection cuz I'll never get through it all and am tired of seeing and thinking about the backlog.

 
Smite Alpha codes are coming out! My email had 2 codes in it. I've played it a decent amount on PC and am excited for its XB1 version.

I did a playthrough on DA: O + Awakenings + all DLC, did pretty much everything in there and was at about 66 hours playthrough.  The comparable run through DA2, including both DLCs, was about 55 hours for me, again, doing everything there.

DA: I is likely to take me in the 150-200 hour range to "do it all", though I'm a completionist nut with the DA games.  You could easily work through the main game in 45-50 hours, from what I've seen.   If you do give it a try, make sure not to spend a ton of time in the Hinterlands, since that's where it's lots of fetch/grind quests.

I did the same because I want to see what the hype is all about. I'm going to leave the house for a bit and hope it will be done by the time I return. I'm excited since Inquisition is the only other game I want for the XB1 other than Cuphead, so free for a few days isn't a bad deal. I can always buy it later if I like it that much.

I bought my X1 for DA: I, once I found out I didn't need a 360 to have my DA: O and DA2 playthrough data to shift over to DA: I.

It draws more from DA2 than DA: O on combat, though the tactical view does give you DA: O-type combat options to work with. The story does take a bit to get going, though the Hinterlands, the main area you have open once you start, is good for a while, though there are more places to see. Check in the DA: I thread in the X1/X360 forum for some people that really do like the game:

I bought it digitally at full price minus the EA access discount and haven't regretted the purchase one bit.

This! Over and over. I've played all three, and while it's debatable which one is "best", 3 is by far my favorite. I certainly didn't have time to play it, but I made time. It sucks you in like that.


Edit: Oh, and I never finished the first two and have no recollection of the plots. It didn't effect my enjoyment of Inquisition at all.

I have $105 of Xbox Live credits but don't know what to get. They expire in a couple of months which is weird since I got these on Christmas.

 
Thanks to everyone for their input on AC IV: Black Flag.  I ordered a copy from Gamefly today.  (Yes, I'm still a 360 peasant.)

Going to snag Halo Wars from this sale.  I enjoy just playing it at random.  Really wish there had been a Covenant campaign though.

I'm replaying it on Bone right now. I would say it's worth it only if you're a HUGE fan of the game, and if doubling up on the gamerscore is something that appeals to you. It's the exact same game, and even the graphical improvement is not necessarily THAT big since it was already one of the very best looking last-gen games. Damn is it a fun game though.

Not like Alan Wake. No game will ever be like Alan Wake (except Alan Wake 2). As for Murdered, it's your lucky day! I just finished the game today so I can give you my in-depth opinion on it:

  • The concept behind the game is very neat, and definitely a very different game than everything out there.
  • There's no use of guns or anything. The only combat that comes from is fighting Demons (and those are only at certain points)
  • Depending on your "fear factor" (I'm a scared pretty easily), parts of this game can get really creepy, especially the latter missions. Playing in the dark, headphones on should be a great experience if you're into that
  • The story is really cool and kept me engaged throughout
  • If you like collectibles, this is the game for you! Although if you are looking for all the collectibles, make sure to play with a guide because it will save you a TON of time
And now some of the negatives:

  • It's short. If you go through some collectibles (I gave up near the end), this game will stretch over 10 hours. If you're just going to be playing mission to mission, it will take you 6-7 hours to finish
  • If you're playing on the 360, get ready for a TON of frame drops. Sometimes the frames drop below 20, although it will stop if you don't move for a couple seconds
  • The combat can be "iffy" sometimes in that the game doesn't always want to recognize your button input right away
  • Glitches. Sometimes, you will have to leave rooms and come back to trigger cutscenes, find missing objects, etc.

Overall, I would recommend the game at that price. It's a treat to play and won't add too much to your backlog.

I bought it when it was $6.xx and haven't even played it. Shit I haven't played Titanfall since like last May. If them making it free means more people will play it then that would be good and I might jump back in.
