Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.

I was just being a smartass haha. I'm just sick of boring indies. I don't understand why I spent $400 on a machine when the majority of games that come out for it could run on last gen.
Did you not play the 360/PS3? They had buttloads of indie games. It's not like the indie titles are stopping huge developers from releasing blockbuster games. Lol

There's a $10 cert for Gears 1, or there WAS one anyway.

Gears 1 is the best mp ever, sooo much fun. Can't wait for it. Gladly would've paid $60. It's also got redone cutscenes and the 5 additional chapters in the campaign plus the whole original mp with better servers.

Uncharted will be good for all 3 campaigns if they're redone.

But $40 for god of war 3 that is simply prettier? Nah. That game was pretty short and barebones anyway

Or you can preorder it from the MS online store and get $15 credit for your next purchase, effectively making it $24.99.
No, you can't think of it like that. It's $15 off you next purchase. Too often people will say this, then talk about how their next purchase is $15 off, which means you making it double it's value, which is flawed math.

So will Best Buy still honor that $10 Reward Zone certificate if we had preordered it previously?

not sure I follow. So if I preorder Gears, get a $15 credit, and use it to buy a $15 game online, did I not just save $15 in a roundabout way?

Are those the additional levels from the PC version of Gears? This is the first I'm hearing of that, though I didn't read anything :) about it before. I was going to track down a PC copy just to play those levels but if that's the case than I'll hold off since I have a crap computer which probably can't run the game anyway.

I'm pissed that when I finally hooked up my new Xbox One today, that the 2 free games from last month (Massive Chalice and Pool FX) were not there, I know I did it correctly through xbox.com because AC 4 was there and I didn't do anything differently. The only good thing to come of it was that Massive Chalice is still free, so for anyone who missed out on it and who has gold, now would be the time, not sure when it will no longer be free. I only wanted pool for the cheese mints and I'm not liking the idea of paying real or fictional bing money for it someday just for the privilege.

Also sorry to ask this, I checked everywhere from the FAQ's on amazon to a few google searches. Is the disc version of Halo MCC play the games from the disc, or does the disc just give you access to download the games like those old XBLA retail discs? I have the download code but if the disc can save me 60+ gigs on my HD I think I'd pay the extra money to own the disc? Thanks!

EDIT I'm not in love with the dashboard on the One, I know I've only been with it a day but the 360 is glorious, I am like a Olympic Athlete on that, I invite people I don't even know over and just zoom around impressing them. The One dash is like the PS3 dash, it makes me cry and have panic attacks.

You saved $15 on the online game, not on your Gears of War purchase. It's the wording that makes it flawed. I know what you're saying, but it's wrong to label the Gears purchase with the savings.

If it had a season pass and you said it's like saving $15 on the season pass, that'd be true. But too often people will say I saved $15 on the game, and then used the $15 on the season pass, making it $15 less. It's doubling it, making it worded wrong.

If you have the disk for MCC it basically copies all that content to your HDD (and downloads at least an additional 15 GB that couldn't fit on the disk), just like every other disk-based Xbox One game (even little bitty <1GB games like Terraria). If you don't HAVE to own it on disk due to personal preference the digital download is better because it's the exact same files on your Xbox One's HDD but you just don't need the disk in the console to play.

As a follow up: the only thing the disk does is save you from download 50GB or so of data. Once it's installed, the disk just acts as a license check.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition includes those PC levels. If you PC could barely run it it probably would've burst into flames at those PC sections. For some reason they make computers work much harder. It's probably because of what happens in those sections, but it's still odd.

As for the Xbox One, check your download history on the Xbox site. You may have them listed. I had to manually go through and add games via the marketplace on the system, they didn't just show up for me.

All disc games install to the hard drive, so physical or digital should take the same space. You can sell either copy since neither will save you on hard drive room.

Edit: Like Darby said, if you have a data limit physical is better for the install. Plus it should be faster. It took me two days to download the Master Chief Collection, and unfortunately it downloads the campaigns before the multiplayer sections.

Also not a fan of the dashboard on the One compared to the x360. Hopefully it improves in future iterations like the old one did.

Addendum: If you install a game from a disk and download all the updates, and then decide to go digital only for some reason, once you buy the game from the Xbox Store you literally need to do nothing else in order to play the game without the disk (no extra downloads). I wish it was that way on :360:.

If what they've shown in videos from E3, the new :xb1: interface will be VERY nice. IMO

Thanks, I ended up speaking to a MS rep who said the licenses were never attached to my account, like I said I got Massive Chalice since it's still free but with the gold games on the One only being accessible while you remain gold, I would have preferred to pay money for a game I might enjoy like Massive Chalice which I will have to buy eventually if I want to keep it, than a generic pool game which I put in with all other sports games as not worth my time.

I'll keep my Halo MCC download then, I got the 1 TB but it's filling up fast with all the sale items I got the past few weeks so any way I could say some memory would be worth a small cost to me.

I'm glad about that Gears PC content being on the One, I always held off playing Gears not for the Seriously achievement (which I will probably not do) but that I hate to play through a series of games and miss out on even a minor entry or mobile game or anything. Like now I just got Crysis 3 on sale, I have all 3 games now but there was a PC entry Crysis Warhead which is preventing me from doing a runthrough, my computer is from 2009 and sucks, and my laptop is a cheap Google Chrome that doesn't even have a disc drive, so it will have to wait till I can get a newer used computer for Crysis Warhead.

Wanting something to do before "Date Night"?   I was looking around Youtube and found this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqpMFsnN7hM

That's Laura Shigihara, composer for the music on Plants vs. Zombies (which all of you should have played now that it's free). Turns out she has her own YT channel and she's awesome.

Along with PvZ music, she has videos with her playing [and sometimes singing] themes to other video game songs and shows - even anime. Check em out.

And how can you not like someone who named her cat "Metroid"?

Also not a fan of the dashboard on the One compared to the x360. Hopefully it improves in future iterations like the old one did.
I was able to talk my brother-in-law into getting a One because of the backwards compatibility news and the Best Buy trade-in offer, but he called me to ask me how to navigate it. It's annoying that everything is an App now, so messages aren't even where you'd expect to look. I'd definitely recommend pinning games and apps you use frequently so that they're on the first window to the left of the start up screen. It makes searching easier.

My 500 GB is almost full, but what is neat is when you delete things it shows on your system as ready to install, so it does track what you previously had; no need to keep searching through your history for games you may have erased for space.

As for Gears of War, the extra levels really don't add too much, so if you have the 360 version it's basically something that you won't notice. I bought Windows for my Mac and the PC game just to play those levels and I can definitely say it wasn't worth the $130 it cost me. It does offer a neat battle, but you'd be able to enjoy the whole of the game via the 360 (it was a Games with Gold title back at the end of 2013).

I'm pretty sure Epic did allude to the idea that Microsoft had approached them to make a Gears of War Kinect game, but that they bluntly were opposed to it. I just hope The Coalition doesn't succumb to that (Forza 4 had optional Kinect Support with the controller-free driving and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary also had Kinect features with the information scanning).

Also, if you can remember the name of the app, using Kinect to launch the app is pretty handy (if you have the Kinect unit).

Things I learned today:

1. Alot of people are really offended by parts of my username which makes me dislike it even more than I already did.

2. The new pga tour game is really purdy.

3. I am way better at virtual golf than the real thing. I don't mean to brag, but I only shot 16 over par on my first 18 holes.

Laura is also on the wonderful soundtrack of "To the Moon", one of my favorite indie games (though it's more of an interactive story).

After waiting to see if any other deals popped up, I jumped on the Lego Batman 3 bundle.  Already beat the vanilla game on PS4 but the extra content will be nice and I cannot say no to that price.  Might get Geometry Wars as well if tomorrow's sales don't interest me.

Tomorrow's sales?

so guys. I just started playing Arkham Knight, and as it turns out the genius devs over at Rocksteady decided to place achievements onto PRE-ORDER BONUSES that vary by retailer. One of the most nonsensical moves I've ever heard of. So even with the Season Pass, all I see is the Harley Quinn DLC, but no Red Hood DLC. This means I can't 100% the game until that stupid pre-order content becomes widely available. Has anyone heard anything as to when they're going to allow it to be downloaded individually?

Fall 2015. Same time as the PS4 exclusives become available, it seems.

Also, Arkham City had achievements linked with the Robin DLC that was preorder exclusive to Best Buy. This is only one achievement, and it's a very short, post-game DLC.

It's worth noting that this isn't Rocksteady's fault (the developer), it's WB Games' (the publisher). But at least the Season Pass includes all the content, unlike other games that sell content like this outside the pass.

So far I've only bought Lego Batman 3 from this sale but I'm mulling over Lara Croft Temple of the Osiris and Geometry Wars 3 but I may pass and wait for a better price on them since my backlog is a little out of control lol.

I know its short but its just dumb to tie achievements to retailer exclusive content. Essentially I'm being punished by preventing me from getting 100% in the base game since I pre-ordered from Gamestop instead of Best Buy. Now I'm gonna have to look at a 99% completion for this game until August or September =-/

I was thinking about buying the lego batman bundle even though I own the physical xbox one disc. Do you think it's worth it just for the DLC? I was thinking of waiting for the season pass to go on sale but God knows if that will happen.

I went ahead and bought Geometry Wars 3 even though I just got it for the Vita with PS+. I love that series so much I'll want to play it on the big screen.

You can trade the disc into Gamestop for $13.20 (plus an extra 50% if you got a code)if you're PUR which would cover the cost of digital plus you get all the DLC...seems like that's your best bet.

Thanks. That's a good idea. That's what I'll have to do. I obtained a lot of codes just in case it's actually 1 code per 1 game for some reason. I'm hoping it's one code for the entire trade in transaction though.

Pika-Peepee!

Huh? You can buy all the DLC for Arkham City at this point.

No. You would have to do it all on PC then do the account merge thing, assuming it's still available.
Thanks. The other promos had separate codes for PC/Xbone, so I was wondering if this was the same case.
