It's so weird to me when people quit on like Wave 1 or 2, after sitting through that looong loading screen. Do they hate the map but didn't realize which one it was until too late? Do they not like the character skins that everyone else picked? Did they just decide not to play Horde right now after all? Like Steve Buscemi in Fargo, they decided not to park here?

Considering it released at $49.99 and is one of the few Japanese shmups that will be released this gen, many of us bought it at $12.50 without giving it much of a thought. No way to know if or when it might go on sale again.

I did. Currently playing Rockudrama mode at a VERY slow pace due to a back injury. I play when I can. It's quite humorous.

I got the new guitar, too. But I never use it. Pro drums, always. Playing guitar just feels like cheating now, even on expert.

An impulse purchase I kind of regret. It was fun for about an hour, that's about how long it takes to complete it. If you're a shmup fan that likes to play the same levels over and over for higher scores, go for it. I thought I would have more fun with it, but without multiplayer, I see myself seldom ever playing it again.

With Horde, I can't see why they can't backfill with bots - AND/OR - give you the option to join a Horde in progress or a new one.

With Destiny, I think the option to match make for raids would be ok if there were filters and/or the option for backfill for people who bail. However, I also think there should be an option to allow no one to join after it starts. Basically, I would like more options/lobbies. Can't see why that wouldn't work.

Skyrim...wish I could get excited about it. But after originally buying it on the ps3, then again on the 360 for full price, beta testing the dlc and Bethesda not listening to the testers complaints, rebuying it digitally on the 360, and spending years playing it I just can't bring myself to rebuy it at $60 yet again. I'll wait six months and get it when it hits the inevitable $20 sale. Still trying to get all the fo4 mods I want to use to stop crashing the game after five minutes of gameplay, that'll take me long enough.
 
Hey I'm back from vacation and see the Rock B4nd songs that were missing since day one (Snoop Dogg and Roadrunner pack 01) are showing up.

 
I think Titanfall 2 is gonna be my shooter this fall. Infinity Ward still looks like the same team that brought us CoD Ghost with this beta. Might pick it up for cheap to play the campaign eventually but doesn't seem like something I want to spend $60 on.

We made it to wave 40 last night only to get wiped out repeatedly, and without enough power to set up some defenses we just couldn't get through it. Same thing happened on wave 30 but we were able to pull it together and get through, but 40 proved too much.

My problem with the CoD beta is that I suck at CoD games. I own all of them, have been buying them since CoD4's release, so you'd think the games would be at least playable for me by now. I have days where the matches are at least even, I'm able to get some kills, I'm fully deserving of my deaths, and I have fun. But lately it seems like, with every CoD game since the release of Ghosts, I'm looking at a .15 k/d ratio every match.

I was able to hold my own a bit in AW due to the jetpack mechanics making it feel more like an arena shooter, if I jumped and flew around like an idiot, it was harder to get shot in the back every 2 seconds.

There's a new BO3 map pack, and I can't make it through the map rotation long enough without throwing my controller, to at least experience the maps I paid for.

After attempting the beta again last night, ending a match with 1 kill and 12 deaths, I decided "Hell with it, I was excellent at WaW back in the day" so I fired that up. Every match was the same. Watching the kill cams like "How the EFF did he even know I was coming around the corner, THERE'S NO RECON PLANE." And the constant sniper headshots people do while jumping around on the battlefield that people make look so easy. I just can't even. And don't get me stared on the fact that I keep ending up in matches of 2v5, and the game rewards the team with perks for devastating us, allowing them to devastate us even further to the point where it's useless to even walk away from the spawn area. It's the opposite of adding a handicap for fairness.

So, I like the maps so far in the IW beta. The shooting feels nice. I like the guns and perks alright, I just can't play it. I don't know what everyone else's issue with the beta is besides the fact that it still feels the same. Everyone hated Ghosts and loved BO3, and those two games felt identical to me except BO3 had Titanfall parkour mechanics. So whatever.

I really hate that I don't know how to play video games anymore, apparently. I'm doomed to play only single player games for the rest of my life.

TL;DR I'm venting. I'm seriously 29 going on 59.

I saw that, too, and was really surprised. I'm guessing they may have worked out a brief extension in order to get the server issues fixed so people can download the content properly.

With Destiny, I think the option to match make for raids would be ok if there were filters and/or the option for backfill for people who bail. However, I also think there should be an option to allow no one to join after it starts. Basically, I would like more options/lobbies. Can't see why that wouldn't work.

I haven't played horde yet, but could some of the common early quitting be a netcode/server issue and they are just disconnects?

Can't wait for more info on RDR2. That picture has lead to lots of theories from a Revolver sequel (three characters COULD be pictured) to a Redemption prequel (several characters could be pictured with one or two really resembling redemption characters) to a game which mixes characters from both with theories linking every pictured character matching an existing one. I doubt the mix since there was a substantial time gap in the settings of the two and the need for new characters. If it wasn't for one character being a dead ringer for Bill Williamson, I'd guess Rockstar does what Rockstar does and like with GTA there is no direct sequel/prequel and it's an all new cast with maybe a few cameos. That teaser pic could very well just be a pic of characters included in multiplayer.

There are some new drops on 360, most likely MSRP drops. They include Omerta and Tropico 3,4,5.

^This. I feel ya man. It's hard to compete with teenagers who've been holding a controller since before they could walk. A lot of people also play with surround headsets, and they can pick out where footsteps are coming from really easily.

Btw, the killstreak rewards you mention are the reason I refuse to play CoD MP. If you can get 10 kills without dying, you don't need the help of an attack chopper. Like you said, it's the opposite of a balancing handicap. It speeds up games where one side is dominating, but it's not any fun on that losing side.

I do better in MP that focus on objectives and squad tactics, like BF or Overwatch. I still drag my team down with my bullet magnet of a face, but at least I can throw out some ammo or pull the enemy team away from the obj.

I actually beat all 50 waves yesterday, on Normal, with randoms! We even wiped a couple times on wave 50 before beating it and no one quit out.

Of course it could, but from what I'm reading on here I'm getting the impression that it is happening with a much higher frequency at certain times when early quits generally don't happen as often which lead to me to question if there is some connectivity issues. It's not a reach. I've played a handful of games where friends I'm playing with drop out due to connectivity, especially when there are players from Australia, US and Europe together. If they were a random I could have presumed they just quit. Gears has a lot of international players. God forbid someone has strict or moderate NAT in many games. Just wondering if it's more than lots of randoms have nothing better to do than join a horde match wait through all the loading and then drop out over and over. You could be right and that is all it is.

We made it to wave 40 last night only to get wiped out repeatedly, and without enough power to set up some defenses we just couldn't get through it. Same thing happened on wave 30 but we were able to pull it together and get through, but 40 proved too much.

Made it to 49 on Casual with randoms last night - two were talking, though, and invited a friend around level 30 when we had one drop. Things were good until 40, when one disappeared for 3 waves and another seemingly passed out from drinking (they were taking drinks every wave). So close.

 
random question

any of you PC enthusiasts know when a good time to buy a 1000ish "gaming" laptop would be?

I don't need a random junker that places try to get rid of during black friday so pretty much any time or?

 
A gaming laptop is such a bad idea. I know it may fit the bill for that you need, but the bang for your buck just isn't there. A desktop is definitely the way to go, but whatever your choice is I'd ask in the PC build thread, that's what I did when I built mine

well I never sit in one place long and I don't game that much I just wanna snag a good laptop that I can emulate very well on and have the ability to use resource heavy programs

so really my "gaming" laptop would just be a very good emulating mobile porn machine with a big screen

 
Ah, well just about any laptop you'd buy today can do great emulation up to using Wii via Dolphin. For Wii and PS2 you're gonna need much more powerful system.

I have a 5+ year old pos Toshiba that plays n64 games great

For resource heavy I think you're gonna want a fast, multicore cpu, and lots of ram

I want to love the BF games, I totally respect that series. I absolutely LOVE the fact that they still use server browsers with filtering options instead of throwing you into matchmaking with a voting system. That's why, my favorite map from the Gears 4 beta, I've only played once in the full retail because the map never makes it to the voting roulette. I end up playing the same god damn maps over and over, and gametypes I don't want to play. The only way to play a specific gametype is to go into ranked games, where I'm fighting against groups of tryhard teabaggers.

With that being said, BF to me is like CoD. I see a person, I die instantly before I can even aim my gun. Except with BF, I have a hike before I can make it back to civilization, unless I go through the trouble of getting a vehicle to drive all the way back to civilization, only to get gunned down again before I realize there's even a person nearby. Also insert the fact that the respawn times are longer so I have more time to sulk in my rage before I get to try again.

I really, really hope Unreal Tournament 4 makes its way to consoles. I'd love to have a fighting chance in a multiplayer shooting game again. Slightly interested in the new Quake game but I need to see/hear more before I get too excited.
