  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I've heard the same thing. Pretty disappointing as I was looking forward to this movie for a while. The Joker apparently is barely in the movie.
Every review that makes mention of him seems to say it's the worst interpretation of the character yet, so maybe it's for the best if not just throwing him out of the movie entirely.

He was in it so little it's hard to determine if it's the worst. The clips of Joker from the trailers accounts for almost 40% of his entire screen time in the movie. There isn't enough meat there to say much about his interpretation other than it's very different to what we've seen. The problem is that most of the characters in the movie are that way though. They all were really one note, wooden characters, even Amanda Waller but she was played well. I'm not sure if it's the actors or the writing. In the case of Deadshot, acting as Will Smith is terrible. Diablo was the closest thing to having a proper multifaceted character and I was more interested in his story than any others.

Pretty sure The Fall is so cheap right now because they announced The Fall Part 2 this morning. Releases next year.
This, it's also $1 on Steam for the week, and has been in Humble Bundle for Wii U in the past.

As for the DC discussion, the Fun vs Serious angle of Marvel vs DC has been both their gameplans for like 10 years of movies now.

Marvel had a LOT of shit movies with a few good ones before they took over themselves, so when they were making them themselves they really looked at what they felt made superheroes work for people that like them. They started with an idea of having a plan and both kept the man in charge that was making it work, and restructured their company to remove some of the corporate roadblock eventually. This has also been amplified by Disney seeing that they know what they're doing and letting it continue. It's not flawless as the heavy hand has scared away talent and not every MCU movie is great, definitely some meh at best in there.

DC has had a very different path to where they are now. They had popular superhero media decades before competition showed up, with 60s Batman TV show and the first successful movies with Superman in the 80s. Due to the lighthearted tone of these, Tim Burton decided to make his Batman movie a lot darker, though obviously he would being who he is. It was successful and well liked for the most part. Eventually corporate (WB) decided to try to appeal more to kids with merchandising and ridiculous product placement with the 90s Batman movies, and it bit them in the ass HARD. I'd say pretty much since then they've been afraid to stray from having dark and serious movies, with even Superman's 2000's movies being in this vein, and the managed to luck out and find success with the Nolan Bat movies, along with Watchmen doing pretty well. These details have led to where we are now, with Zack Snyder's influence ruining things based on Watchmen's success.

I understand why DC is going this route, and they do have the potentially valid angle of offering something different from Marvel, but they just keep falling flat on their face. I still think a lot of this is overlord WB influence, since DC Animated has more or less been on fire for 20 years now. I'd love to see a WB leak like Sony had. Geoff Johns rising as high as he has and now being involved is what gives me any amount of hope that they can get their shit together. Now he's full blown president of DC.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/confirmed-geoff-johns-is-the-new-president-of-dc-entertainment

Anyways, I prefer Marvel books myself so I won't pretend that doesn't give me some bias, but what I really like about their MCU is how they stay true to the characters for the most part. I think all the Avengers characters have been spot on, especially Captain America. Scott Lang Ant-Man, the TV show characters, and even Guardians of the Galaxy (though this is more clearly tied to the 2000s series than the old stuff). DC has generally fell flat in my eyes. I like the Dark Knight movies for the most part but I don't think Batman was all that accurate with a lot of his attitudes and actions. Current DCCU Superman is joke and an insult to the character. I only really felt like Batfleck nailed his character out of everyone in Batman V Superman, though Wonder Woman had very little screen time outside of combat.

That's the biggest thing. Marvel is proud of their characters and while they aren't 100% faithful to the comic they understand what people liked about their characters and worked with that framework in mind. I don't want things 100% the same, changing things up is great, but have a reason for it. DC seems to have went the opposite route and didn't look at why people enjoy their characters, their root definitions/emotions and just went off the rails at times. Affleck is my #3 Batman, behind #1 Kevin Conroy and #2 Michael Keaton.

Of course I'm also a person who paid the $60 for the MUA bundle so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. And I still love playing them even at that high price.

UN55KS8000 series. It has very low input lag and it's not curved. The one thing I'm wondering is that it's supposed to have very low lag in Game Mode, but outside of game mode it shoots to 100+, so will that drastically affect my performance if I'm playing online in a multiplayer game.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but Joker has looked and seemed like trash since the moment I seen him. I don't think the character should have been in Suicide Squad to begin with, at least not their first movie. Maybe a very brief cameo in a Harley phone call or flashback or something.

He seems most closely based off the edgelord Joker from the New 52 books, with no substance.

Nice! That model has a 20ms input lag which is amazing.

If it's 100+, yeah that's unbearable, especially if you're playing a shooter or fighting game. Why wouldn't u wanna play in game mode though? Because the graphics suffer? Just curious. I'm always looking at new tvs and stuff. Of course the second I buy something, a new/better model comes out the next day lol.

That's the biggest thing. Marvel is proud of their characters and while they aren't 100% faithful to the comic they understand what people liked about their characters and worked with that framework in mind. I don't want things 100% the same, changing things up is great, but have a reason for it. That is a good assessment. Affleck was a very good Batman. Gadot did a decent, though brief Wonder Woman. Cavill looks the part, and could do it well but it is so poorly written. Superman is not emo, he is a bright ray of light - and his costume should reflect that with much brighter colors. He needs to believe in the good of man more than mankind itself does even against all odds.

Spider-man is an excellent example of Marvel's mastery. In about ten minutes of screen time they completely nailed him. Right down to the wise-cracking, overly talkative nature.

I'm very disappointed on what I'm hearing about Suicide Squad. Sounds like it was knee-jerk reactions to BvS. That movie was done well ahead of the response, a change in tone that late is just a bad idea. Fortunately with Wonder Woman and Justice League it looks like they have enough time to adjust course. Superhero movies need to be fun, not burdens.

Yeah. I'm reading the color palette suffers if you switch to Game Mode, but what I want to know is just how big of a difference it actually is. Like if I'm playing a game where red is the primary color, does it go from deep dark red to a noticeable lighter shade?

is this a samsung model? their settings should allow you to replicate the same colors with game mode on. you just have to take the time to calibrate it.

i went through the same dilemma with my tv, asking myself if i was going to lose anything by turning game mode on.

I have the UN65KS8000 and don't have Game mode turned on and never noticed a difference. I didn't realize there was such a difference between Game and non-Game mode response time. I don't play a lot of competitive online, but a decent amount of COD, Overwatch, etc. I actually forgot to mess around with those settings, so I guess I should do that to see if I can tell any difference. I think I tried it a few times with that and another TV when I first got them and couldn't tell much difference except the screen coloring and brightness wasn't ideal (I guess I can change that, though).

Well it would be disingenuous of me to insist the DC films are classic works of art, but I prefer them to the Marvel movies. But evidently I'm completely out of step in terms of what the public considers a good superhero movie, because I preferred Ang Lee's Hulk to the version with Edward Norton. Based on the discussions online, I'm totally out of touch with what the public wants.
I rather enjoyed Ang Lee's version (I'm a fan of Eric Bana and thought he did a good job), but I recently saw part of it and was reminded of the one cringe-worthy thing (for me) in the movie:

The killer dogs that go poof when they die

That first Hulk movie was so bad, you could say it was.........an abomination.

*drops shades*
Both Horatio Caine and David Caruso can eat a D! :p

Thanks for the input. So when you play Overwatch with game mode off, you don't see a decrease in performance? I just don't want to be in a situation where I'm a couple frames behind and getting smacked in Gears 4 for reasons beyond my control.

The makers of Happy Wars has another game out. It's still in the preview program but can be downloaded now for free. The Founders Bundle is $15.

Sorry I don't have a link, I downloaded it from the smartglass app. Just do a search for happy dungeon.

Snyder co-wrote Wonder Woman and he's directing and co-writing Justice League as well. I'm not going to be optimistic until I see good reviews. Wonder Woman is already using his color palette and his patented slow motion, zoom-in action style so I'm already skeptic.

I'm not horrible at games, but i'm also not great. I don't really notice any problems, but I also haven't compared it enough to definitively say I can't notice a difference. I definitely don't feel disadvantaged during a game because of my input lag (at least that I can tell).

I really think some input lag stuff is just specs that can be used for marketing, etc. I'm sure some high level pros can tell a big difference, but i'm guessing the vast majority of people would not truly be able to tell the difference.

It's honestly kind of stupid how excited I am to have the NBC Sports app on the X1... I'm just sitting here watching soccer prelims with a big old smile on my face. :)

Huh, interesting. Thanks for the heads-up.

I used to love the ESPN app on Xbox 360 back in the day. Then ESPN pulled much of their content from it and I never went back.

NBC Sports will cover the entire Olympics - and the app lets you watch across all of their channels - CNBC, Telemundo, NBC, NBCSN, etc... Plus all the off network coverage. And F1... And NASCAR... And Sunday Night Football... And Indycar... They have a pretty stacked sports lineup.

Did I miss the DC-Marvel fight?

I'm not loving these Marvel Avengers movies. I'd say the best ones were the first Avengers and Iron Man 1 and 3.The rest were ok at best.

Honestly, I'm more of a Spider-man and X-Men fan and prefer those movies (except Spider-man 3).

And fuck you, Fantastic Four movies.

DC has more of a hit record for me (especially their animated releases). I liked Batman v. Superman, but does that mean I'll like Suicide Squad?  I'm not sure. I know Joker is barely in it, so I'm willing to bet people will complain about that just like people did when Wonder Woman was barely in BvS. I'm more interested in "the Squad" and I would be less forgiving if those characters had less screen time.

... Oh look, the Xbox deals are up.

I really should play these games so I know whether or not I have the DLC. I think I have all of the Dishonored and Fallout DLC already, but even if I don't it gives me a reason to start up the Xbox and get some free games [for the next two weeks].

So yeah, I'm happy with this week's drop.

Between netcode delay, internet latency, wireless controller latency, aim assist, hard drive seek time/spin up/spin down, and anything else I can't come up off the top of my head that would cause a delay in reaction time... I'm dubious of anyone's claims that they can tell a meaningful difference in performance from 20ms. I remember when wireless mice used to be ridiculed for causing latency, and now you have to really go out of your way to even find wired mice (granted the bump from 27mhz to 2.4ghz helped there). Highly competitive people will always find excuses for poor performance.

I mostly play games while intoxicated, so I just blame that for my mediocre performance.

Only liking because of proper use of apostrophe

Don't forget about the best thing on any NBC Network: Barclay's Premier League!!!

Only liking because of proper use of apostrophe
Only liking because of your respect towards apostrophes and disdain towards periods. :p

spelunky doesnt make me rage, just feel hopelessly depressed
On Vita (we exist) I got to the end boss ONCE out of like 1000's of game play attempts, not exaggerating that number. I always said I'd go back and finish it but yeah.. fuck that.
