Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
[*]Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!

UPLAY challenges and rewards for South Park TFBW came out today. According to it I am 36% of the way through the game....... 12 hours in. If I get ~40 hours out of this game I will more than pleased with my purchase.

As for the Game pass mystery gifts, I feel jipped that I worked harder to get get a worse prize (Transformers) over (5$ credit). Would much rather have the credit

Do they email the code?

Only want the tidal couldn’t care less about the cd.
Yep, they email the code. Just did this to check it out. Got a $.99 Chvrches CD and got the email with the 6-month Tidal sub in about an hour.

Just tried it out. Music sound quality is good but as an alternative fan, music discovery is not so hot from what I’ve explored so far. Not even a separate category for alt (indie is the closest). I currently use Amazon Music. Know it has gaps but they do an awesome job with curated playlists even compared to Spotify.

We’ll see. 6-month’s for a buck is worth checking it out.

Friday the 13th 8-Movie Collection is $13 on the Xbox video store:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/movies/friday-the-13th-8-movie-collection/8d6kgwxh4tgv

Seems like a pretty good deal, though if I were to pay money for a digital movie, Xbox is probably the last place I would buy it, when I could buy it on a service like Amazon and have access to it across almost any device in the world instead of just my Xbox. But it is what it is.
For this reason I'm astonished there's a movie/video market on XBL at all.

Heck well, you haven't been paying attention I guess because it has been there since well the 360. Movies through the WIndows Store were nice, got in on all those 1 dollar movie rentals a while ago, because you could watch on your PC or Xbox. Would be cool if they did a reverse of that with your Xbox content. I have a full season of Venture Bros sorta isolated on my Xbox 360 lol.

I know it's been around for a long time, I'm just surprised enough people purchase content off of it for it to be sustainable. outside of some unbelievable sales or promotions, having content locked to a single device or service which isn't available on multiple platforms is very limiting.

That's why I prefer to not use iTunes for anything. Video Games are the exception since they are locked to the eco system anyways.

I don't buy many digital movies. MS live (and PSN) are the last places I would even consider. I got for free Lego Batman Movie with my XBox One S. What a PIA. XBox is in the basement but we wanted to watch on the larger TV in the living room. I think it required Silverlight which I don't have on my work laptop. Was able to use my old bulky Windows 10 laptop and its built in Video app to watch it on the laptop screen. Took a while to find my movie. Then I had to disconnect the seldom used BluRay player to use the HDMI cable to get it on the TV.

No ability to cast it to Chromecast (that I could find anyway) and no app on the BluRay player.

Even for a buck or whatever that other promo was where you got back the credit (basically free movie) it isn't worth the hassle to me

Netflix, Google Play and Vudu are all better experiences for me.

I Think if Microsoft were to have been a part of that Movies Anywhere with all those other streaming services I'd consider more XBox video purchases, but otherwise I'm fine just either getting it on blu or if they go cheap on Vudu or Netflix.

One of the best places I buy & sell digital movies for cheap are from fellow CAGs at the Trading section.  Really wish MS did join MoviesAnywhere, maybe they still can in the future, who knows.  I just linked my accounts and the eligible movies from my iTunes are now found on the VUDU app which I use on the console.  This is good for my situation since I don't use iTunes and had some older movies on there that I wanted on VUDU, wish granted.

That Friday the 13 collection for $13 is pretty awesome but I don't watch on the MS video app and I like sharing my movies with family, can't really do that with MS.  Or can you somehow share movies like how you gameshare on Xbox?  Edit: just browsed Xfinity (my bro-in-law works for Comcast & got all the premium channels for cheap so we use their account) and all the Friday the 13th movies from the collection are there to watch.  Too bad apps like Starz and Cinemax doesn't play nice with Xfinity and won't work on the Xbox.

MX vs. ATV All In Edition (Limited) is on sale for $30 which is 75% off.

Not sure how long for as storeparser has it listed on sale then above that back to normal price,  but it is currently on sale on Xbox store.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/mx-vs-atv-all-in-edition/bzp918z9wnnp?tduid=$54c583c56cd86f81ac14d42bb50f1c3e$$263915$$2907108$$$$$&wa=wsignin1.0

Also, Dying Light base game is $19.99. This says it has dropped in price on storeparser so should be permanent right? I am surprised the base game is still on sale as Microsoft usually like to take the base game away and make people buy complete/ultimate editions.

Just watched Baby Driver by VOD, good movie. Up there with Drive for good driving movies. I might need to take advantage of my Amazon Music trial right now and find the Baby Driver soundtrack playlist lol.

I’m very tempted by Mankind Divided (Deluxe) - does anyone follow Square Enix games closely enough to foresee a drop beyond 75% in the near future?

It seems to be on sale pretty often.

You'll be fine, awp.

You lost a meaningless game last year and it didn't stop you from winning when it mattered.

1 Loss is the new Perfect in the Playoff Era.

I am, however, entirely expecting my Cougars to choke on the smoke-filled California air...and then never recover.  That's kind of how we roll late in seasons with promise.

Yeah, I’m pretty depressed right now. Where is a good game deal when you need a pick me up? ;)

Seriously, though, that was sad. Don’t know if the team was rattled with Kelly Bryant getting hurt (although they did decent enough last week without him in the 4th quarter). I wish they hadn’t played him at all TBH.

I hope this is a wake up call and they come out swinging the rest of the season. Their backup quarterbacks are good. We’ll see.

Hopefully they’ll be some more upsets to get the Tigers back. Still think they may stay in the Top 5 after this week considering they beat three Top 15 teams already.

I’m going to chalk it up to an off night and hope for the best.

Seriously, you're fine. Literally no upsets needed. Win the ACC and you're in the Playoff.

This season's pecking order was established early. SEC, ACC, Big10, and team to be decided later. Absolutely nothing has changed. That 4th team was to be the Oklahoma if they won out. After Iowa State, it will now be a Pac-12 team if it wins out. If neither happens, its either a second SEC team, or a Big12/Pac12 toss-up.

EDIT: Hey, look at that. My Cougars didn't show up tonight. A disappearing act so predictable you can set your clock to it.

The one before that was an unwatchable abomination. My girl is a very forgiving person when it comes to movies and she begged me to shut it off around 30 minutes in. Didn't even bother to check this last one out. If I need a Transformers fix I'll just pop in the 1986 animated BD for the 1000th time.

That's why I prefer to not use iTunes for anything. Video Games are the exception since they are locked to the eco system anyways.
Not anymore - at least for the 5 studios in Movies Anywhere... Disney, Amazon, VUDU and Google are sharing purchases... A bunch of movies I had isolated in iTunes came over when I linked my accounts...

I thought the latest Transformers was a small tick upwards in quality, but coming off Age of Extinction it could hardly be otherwise.

Rewatched Lucy (2014) tonight which has some great moments.  The whole concept of using more of our brain's capacity is appealing, and would make for an amazing video game.

Back to Shadow of War...

Just finished watching The Babysitter on Netflix. Pretty decent horror-comedy (much more on the comedy side). Needed some comic relief after that horror of a Clemson game.

And that’s a wrap on Friday the 13th.

Anybody got any input on evil within 2? Trying to decide between that or wwe 18.
I've been watching a stream of it because I hated playing the first game, but still enjoy horror. The guy I'm watching is at Chapter 11 attempting a boss. I'm also very tired after waking up from a horrible nap.

Looks like more of the same (I mean that in a good way). If you liked the first game, I think you'll like the second. Looks very frustrating to play (like the first). Prompt to stealth attack sometimes isn't popping up, boss one hit killed him with almost full health (not necessarily a negative, but he dodged the attack and was sucked into a death cutscene), attacks hitting through walls, he attempted the boss once so far then died and was sent back at least 10 minutes (he got lost on the way back and just found a completely different area, I like the not as linear as first game feel)

I just couldn't enjoy that movie, since the central premise revolves around the long-debunked myth that we only use 10% of our brain's capacity. I'm not even a stickler that expects all movies to have a 100% logical real world level of realism, but this one just bugged me too much.

I felt the same way, ever since I first saw the trailer that mentioned it. After watching the movie, I was still annoyed by the whole thing.

I sat my  gf down to play Burnout Paradise on a hunch, and she's absolutely hooked. I own the Ultimate Edition on Steam, but what's the best way to get some of the DLC for 360/BC? I don't mind spending some, but feel silly paying for car packs. I don't recall seeing the individual DLC going on sale anytime, just when I got the game for $5. Seriously considering getting the Party Pack and the Timesaver, also going to get a copy of 3 so she can play it on my PS3.

I wish EA/MS would get smarter about what's basically ancient DLC. Saints Row 3 dropped the season pass to $5 once the game had had it's commercial run because they know that no one is going to pay $20 for it now, but that's one major exception. MS never puts ultimate or complete editions on XBL even though they're on PC and PSN.

If they would bundle it all for $5 for Burnout Paradise, I bet they'd sell a lot. Heck, I'd buy it.

Speaking of things that piss me off about Forza, I had just moved to Tier 9 or 14 or whatever in the rewards treadmill. I was finally getting 350k per 5 days for the newest games, up from 275k.

Well, thanks Turn 10, but now the rewards are every 7 days not every 5, and they reduced the rewards from 350k to 275k. I just hit that tier and they crank it down!

So frustrating. Why take stuff away.

Maybe. I only ever did that once near the start of the contest. Not going to spam it every day.
One of those tips I’ve learned. The site just tracks that you hit the button, which pre-fills the tweet, but you don’t actually have to tweet it. MS doesn’t own twitter so they have no idea if you actually share it.

Similar to the “rate our app?” Prompts in apps. Just hit “sure I will rate your app!” When you get to the App Store, just go back. The app can’t tell if you did anything and will stop bugging you, at least until their next app version.

Stupid Question:
What time do the Free Play Weekends usually begin?

I think I want to download Wildlands to give it a whirl; its FPW starts on "October 12th." I'm sure that's a big download, so if I can queue it up at 12:01am Eastern (9pm Pacific here!) that be nice for tomorrow.
i went to my local game shop and they installed this disc for me free all i had to do was update when i got home thats how i beat the download when i buy digital

You didn't enjoy the movie as it wasn't based on our current scientific reality? Hmm, that must really limit your enjoyment of sci-fi as a genre. <shrug>

As an aside, while we've gotten a lot better at mapping brain activity and its responses to various stimuli over the past 60 years, we're still basically nowhere when it comes to how the brain actually does what it does. How does memory actually work? Why are some people smarter than others? What causes Alzheimer's or any of the autism spectrum disorders? Science has a ways to go on these things.

Lucy took it to Hollywood extremes, but more basic enhancements like improved recall, greater intelligence, improved athletic performance, or biofeedback don't seem impossible for future generations.

I haven't seen it yet, but when I do I'll try to imagine that in the movie's universe humans only use 10% of their brain.

Almost finished 1st play through of Cuphead. Love the game even though I'm not a fan of similar games.

Shadow of War keeps getting better and better. Just unlocked the ability to bring my army to attack other player's fortresses. This refreshed the nemesis system for me. My 1st time playing SoM it was exciting. 2nd time the nemesis system was meh. With SoW I care about who lives, leveling up orcs, and building relationships with my orcs. Whereas the first game I mostly ignored my orcs and enjoyed when a rival returned from the dead.

If I'm not mistaken, using 100% of your brain at one time (having all synapses fire simultaneously) is called ... oh what's that fancy medical term ... HAVING A SIEZURE!

I tend to like Sci-Fi that has a premise as to why this story doesn't fit your known reality. For exanple, it's many years in the future so this technology doesn't exist yet, or this isn't the real world they're jacked into a computer simulation, or this is an alternate reality/time line, etc. When a story tries to present itself as taking place in the now, or in our reality, and is missing a plausible explanation for the implausiblilty of the story then I have trouble getting on board. I just consider it bad story telling.

They rebalance it when a new game releases. Happened last year with FH3, and there were a couple tweaks around the release of FM6.

The rewards have been every 7 days, however, around midnight UTC Friday morning.

Wish I had considered that. The Gears eSports live streams work that way, too. Though it's probably a matter of time before they require you to register your handle and they don't reward you with whatever until they check that you've actually made a post rather than just opening the pre-populated form.
