It appears that xbldb.com is no longer up, relegated to the realm of the Wayback Machine.  Though he hasn't visited the site in a few years, a tip of the cap and a thanks to Spylon for making maintaining the thread in the 360 days a lot easier.

EDIT: So apparently there is a new Xbox One screensaver feature. I've been trying to rack up idling hours on some games, but when I come back 15 minutes later, the screen is dark and there's something like an ad for the current Games With Gold, or a status update of a friend, or a pop up describing the new Xbox screensaver. Going to make idling those 500 hours of Star Balls near impossible as the screensaver pauses the game and stops the timer.

Also, did one of the last dashboard updates finally fix that problem with installing multi-game discs? I put in the Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy! disc, and it immediately went to the Install All screen for both games. In the past, games like those Family Fun Packs and certain Telltales Season Pass discs, you had to put in the disc, then manually exit the game if it auto-plays, then hit the Start button with the cursor over the game tile, then Manage Game, and finally click Install All.

Blown away by how well it looks. Waiting on DF to see if the perfromance stays stable vs the Pro that had hitching and other issues.

Fallout 4 didn't look THAT much better to me. But it was always a ugly game.

Fortnite looks and runs great outside of the tutorial/intro area before the fight but that's to be expected when 100 people are on the screen.

Very impressed with the X patchs so far outside of those drops in Infinite Warfare. Hope it gets cleaned up.

In the Xbox app on Windows 10, the achievements leaderboard is counting down to 7pm Eastern (same time as date night drops), so the month may end at midnight UTC. Be warned.

Thank you #IDARB for some quick and easy achievements to get me to 400 for the month.

I thought the Mixer app quest was watching for 30 minutes, but that requirement was an XBL Rewards challenge (use Mixer on Xbox for 30 minutes a week for 4 weeks).

Hopefully you automatically qualify for the download 2 GwG titles in the month quest if you've already purchased and downloaded the titles. Would suck if you had to "buy" them during the time they were GwG. Guess we'll see how that turns out.

Tadah, got the last Forzathon challenge and the Porsche 356A Speedster. Yeah only one drift challenge thankfully lol - that required a restart to get a handle of it.

Can't you disable all this? In the Settings, under Preferences and Idle Options (iirc), the left option is a checkmark to enable/disable showing you stuff when your console is idle. Disabling that won't show the streams. Not sure if it'll still pause your game though (hopefully not).

 
A few new Fallout Creation Club items went up today. Desert camo skins for the Pip-Boy (temporarily free) and power armor. A few weapon skins, which is a new thing. And a new pack of Settlement items.

You'd think they'd give you an option to buy this shit through the website, but I guess they want you to install the game for your free items so your more likely to consider paying for other stuff.

 
Decided to use that Redbox 15 cent game deal last night on Wolfenstein II but I got a piece of paper instead. First time that has happened to me. The CS rep was great though and I got a game code that is good for 45 days so I will use it on a weekend instead. People suck.

This is one of those situations where I'm both surprised that it's a thing but also surprised that it's not a bigger thing. I mean, they obviously know that the person who rented the game before you did it, right? They must not be very successful in recouping even if they essentially know who the culprit was, which makes me surprised that it doesn't happen more often.

I think you can pay with a pre-paid card which basically makes tracking the person that stole the game impossible to track down.

Yeah they asked for a 9 digit number on the circular scan bar which she said would identify the previous person who rented. Now I am not sure that number is needed on the scan bar though so if someone is savvy they would be removing that number when they print off the scanned bar code. I am interested in how often this occurs. The funny thing was she had me return the game. So here I am at the kiosk hoping this fake scan bar works so that I don't get charged $3 the next day while also hoping no one thinks I am doing return fraud myself.

That also means that if RedBox tries to automatically charge that person for the full price of the game it likely fails because there aren't sufficient funds on the form of payment used.

Never thought about that.

It’s also kind of sad though that Redbox doesn’t have technology to check a return in ways other than the security sticker. I mean even something a simple as the weight of a disc vs weight of a piece of paper in addition to the security code.

Yeah. If a toll machine can reject non-US currency, Redbox should be able to detect a paper circle or just a sticker where the game should be. It's such a rampant problem and they clearly don't care enough to fix it. They probably make enough off of rentals and have a low overhead without having staff at physical locations that it's not worth it to them to fix. 

I miss Blockbuster.

Harder to trace, since then they don't know who returned the empty case vs all the real copies still in circulation.

And as someone else said, more mileage on the prepaid card, because it doesn't look suspicious.

 
On the topic of Redbox...

Redbox actually is in a really bad spot, they peaked in 2013 and are trying anything now to recoup money, which is why you see them selling games for almost nothing. They expanded at an almost geometric pace to put other rental services out of business and now have huge fixed costs with each location and the contracts they negotiated with the movie studios to get releases(which were badly negotiated by the way). I wouldn't expect them to do anything except continue to go downhill until they are completely gone in less than 10 years. Their financial outlook gets worse and worse and their response is "open more kiosks!" and their streaming solution they are working on is destined to fail.

TLDR, Redbox isn't going to/can't afford to devote time to revamping the entire backbone of their rental system.

 
I haven't rented a game/movie since even before the blockbuster days when it was ma and pa shops with rent 3 for 5 for 5 or 5 for 5 for 5

renting those vhs and cartridges

I just buy discounted credit and use it for games on sale, no hurry I probably won't play it anyway

People would find a way. They would just put a blank disc with the sticker on it instead of the paper now.
 
That would suck if redbox were to go under. They are literally the only way I can get cheap rentals. I paid full price for a movie rental on the MS store and it was $6 for HD. Oof. 

Though if I'm gonna pay full price for a game rental on redbox I rather just put that money towards one month of gamepass.

 
What was the mystery reward from last month's Game Pass Goals? I thought I did it but I haven't received anything yet and a new goal is coming soon already.

You would think they would shut this down. I wonder what percentage of their legit business is paid by this method?

I wonder if newer RedBox machines will have some anti theft measures to at least make it harder. Guess it is more expensive then what they lose.

Thanks for the info, gogomo. I could have sworn I looked there last night, but I found it after reading your post. Unfortunately, the max screensaver timeout is 60 minutes, which means you have to come back at least once an hour if idle boosting. Looks like no more leaving the system on overnight to rack up in-game hours.

Quick reference to change Xbox One screensaver settings:

Settings ---> Preferences ---> Idle Options ---> Show me things when idle (uncheck it) / Dim screen after (default is 10 minutes, max is 60 min.)

I doubt they even know if it's a prepaid card or not, don't give their payment processing system any credit.

 
Twitch Prime gives away content for console games (mostly Ubisoft games). Would be cool if sometime they actually have away a console game instead of a PC game.
 
Played about 30 minutes of Child of Eden. This game is trippy af with the visuals and music and really makes me wish my Kinect wasn’t broken :(
 
Seeing the enhancements to Skyrim make me kind of regret not getting it for 15 bucks or whatever it was during the sales.

Looks like Battlegrounds is going to be 60FPS on X1X, to the surprise of...some, I guess? I'm only mildly interested since I'm sure I'll be terrible at it, but between it being fairly cheap and the news about the framerate I'll probably get it.
