Assassin's Creed 1.

Ok, riding a horse is kind of fun. Now I have to go to 12 locations and use eagle vision to synchronize. Is this an optional mission? I'd rather go to Damascus and move on.

Funny glitch: I get on a horse and a guy yells out "You can't run from me" as I walk with the horse and never get attacked. I get to a load screen.

And the game crashes.
AI is notoriously stupid in these AC games. Even in origins I can't walk down the street without hearing multiple NCPs go "idioti!" over and over. I've heard it about 300 times now and I've barely put a dent in the game. I wish they would focus just a little more time on their NCP dialogues/actions, but oh well. The rest of the game is phenomenal though, in case you had any doubts.

Assassin's Creed games have been very buggy from the start. That was the Ubisoft hallmark for a long time.

I remember beating the game and the final mission ends in that assassin town where they put all of the people in the town in front of one building, which caused the framerate to drop like a rock that made it harder to get in the door.

If i buy Battlefront 2 what will happen to me?
You'll become one of the heroes are born on the battlefront, and in Star Wars Battlefront 2, you're able to experience it for yourself. You'll Play as heroes from all three eras of Star Wars in massive battles across iconic locations, and take part in a thrilling single-player story as Iden Versio fights to avenge the Emperor.

You'll play as—and against—Star Wars' most feared villains and cherished heroes from all three eras, including Kylo Ren, Rey, Darth Maul, Yoda, and many more. Unique, upgradable abilities ensure classic characters bring their distinct powers and personality to the battle.

Rich single-player stories, deep multiplayer combat, and multi-stage space battles are all waiting for you in Star Wars Battlefront II.

Pilot vehicles from all three eras of Star Wars. Take control of massive AATs, sleek starfighters, thundering walkers, and your favorite hero ships.

I definetely wrote all this and did not plagarize it from EA's website.

Honestly, I really enjoy the game. The progression and eventual return of microtransactions is weak, but the gameplay is really solid. Everyone loves the starship battles Criterion developed. The team play aspects are better than 2015, but still a lot weaker than the system in Battlefield. I really enjoy Heroes vs Villains, and if EA ever clamps down on afk rubberband farmers it could consistently be more fun.

Got all the achievements in AC origins. Took a few hours under 3 days play time. It's up there with AC2 and black flag for me. Looking forward to the other trials of the gods. May eventually go back to do some of the 42 side quests, 6 skills and Ubisoft club tasks I have left.

Now I'll probably do the TA tasks I think.

So Reddit discovered that Microsoft is allowing refunds on Destiny 2 if you don't buy the DLC. Bungie didn't think this through well and locked the vanilla Prestige Raid achievement behind the paywall of Curse of Osiris, along with the actual content itself including the Prestige Nightfall.

https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/7i1l2n/you_can_get_sonyms_to_refund_your_purchase_thanks/?sort=confidence

I basically just outlined my issues with the default achievement being unobtainable, and being locked out of core content, and was given a full refund. I guess time played doesn't matter because I have 131 hours and 24 minutes played. I also linked to a Polygon article that covers the basics, and has the info in the spoiler toward the end. Supposedly Blizzard is playing ball too, offering full refunds for most people on PC, especially since they only had about a month with the base game before getting locked out. Sony doesn't sound like they're giving any money back though.

https://www.polygon.com/2017/12/6/16743276/destiny-2-curse-of-osiris-content-locked-prestige-nightfall-raid

"And if there are people who wanted to beat the Prestige version of a Nightfall strike or the Leviathan raid, they can no longer attempt them without buying Curse of Osiris. That means they can’t unlock the associated PS4 trophy or Xbox Live achievement, which prevents PS4 players from obtaining Destiny 2’s platinum trophy."

Personally I've been pretty negative on the game overall with the endgame situation, and Bungie has failed to address it in my eyes, once again making it practically a subscription to really continue playing the game as so much is taken from non-DLC buying players.
Call me crazy, but I swear I keep hearing a random character that sounds just like Jar Jar Binks. I have no idea what he's saying, but I hear it in every city - always in areas of higher density.

They attempted to appease us with the recent canceled stream and replacement blog post, but this just made it clear they won't be turning it around for me any time soon.

I don't know too much about this yet, but Isn't this achievement locked out for all players currently? Until Friday when the new part of the raid drops? After that it could be just like D1 when the weekly content is something from the DLC you are locked, but the next week it will be available once it is OG content?

I see your reasoning, but no, Prestige is now at 330 Light, and you can't even access the menu option for stuff that is locked out like the Prestige Nightfall.

As far as I remember in D1, you were locked out of most endgame actives without owning DLC even if it was old content, seems like it is the same in D2.

I'll have to check again, But i own the DLC and i think i wasn't able to access it either yet. You should still be able to hit 330 light without the DLC I got to 307 last night and haven't got any of the new gear, blues appear to go up to at least 305 now. In D1 you were locked out of the content, but not activities. Tho when thoes activities were DLC you were locked out. Hopefully Bungie addresses this sooner then later, especially since they just claimed they are going to talk to us more.

I don't think you can get over 305 without the DLC. All gear that is over 305 light requires you to be at least base level 21 which isn't possible without the DLC. That's the whole purpose of increasing the base level from 20 to 25, to deliberately lock non-DLC players from being able to equip >305 gear even if it accidentally drops for them.

I didn't actually check myself, but people seemed pretty sure that the Prestige is going to be locked along with that achievement. Maybe light level is locked lower than 330 but higher than the old 305 or something.

Here we go, apparently the Nightfall and Heroic Strikes playlist require DLC ownership.

https://kotaku.com/high-level-destiny-2-activities-are-now-locked-behind-d-1821058051

It sounds like the raid itself isn't locked, but there are a lot of people, both "journalists" and players, reporting that the level cap doesn't increase without the DLC, so I'm not sure how you have a 307 or they're all just wrong. If it isn't locked but the light level doesn't increase, I guess good luck with playing the prestige raid 25 light lower than recommended.

Anyone having issues with the Xbox? I have an Xbox One X and twice in the last 12 hours, I could move around the interface with my controller and even switch tabs and go to the side bar, but when I go to select an icon, nothing happens.

It only worked after I unplugged the power from the console.

...reporting that the level cap doesn't increase without the DLC, so I'm not sure how you have a 307...
He's 307 because he has the DLC. I had to read that twice to be sure, too. He's just saying that he doesn't have any of the new DLC gear on, but is still able to get to 307. That's ok because blues should be dropping higher for him as his base level goes up.

It almost sounds like they have plans to implement their recent microtransaction patents into games, but that can't be right because they assured fans that this was just "exploratory" and "independent from game studios."

As an aside, does "independent from game studios" remind anyone else of EA shoveling MTX into BF2? Like, having a system developed by the publisher that gets encorporated into a game's design? Isn't that what everyone is claiming? DICE are good devs but evil EA made them do it?

Assassin's Creed 1.

Ok, riding a horse is kind of fun. Now I have to go to 12 locations and use eagle vision to synchronize. Is this an optional mission? I'd rather go to Damascus and move on.

Funny glitch: I get on a horse and a guy yells out "You can't run from me" as I walk with the horse and never get attacked. I get to a load screen.

And the game crashes.
A lot has changed in a decade. I liked the first one well enough 8 years ago or so when I played. Tried to play 2 shortly after that and got bored of it. Too much of the same thing. Didn't play anything till Black Flag on PS4. Was one of the few launch titles the Target I was in had for their buy 2 get 1 in 2013. I only grabbed it as I needed a 3rd game and though well maybe pirate ships might be fun. I liked it best out of the 3 games. Was a ton of fun IMO.

If you are insistent in playing games on your 360 (you have a PS4 too right?) maybe check out AC Rogue. Some ship stuff but not as good as BF but still a decent game. A bit more modern than a decade old game at least.

Do yourself a favor and skip to AC2. The first game was basically a super long tech demo for the much improved sequel. You won't miss anything reading a plot synopsis. I played through it when it first released and liked it okay but had a hard time seeing it to completion because you are doing the same couple of activities over and over. I imagine it would be super painful to pay through today.

If you want to skip straight to the good stuff, AC4 is by far my favorite and fairly standalone (though 2 and Brotherhood are also really good). Check that one out
I couldn't finish 2. Probably played it too soon after 1. Got stuck trying to find
Michelangelo, I was right near his place but couldn't find the damn door or something. Wondered if my game glitched. Decided I didn't care and quit.

Ah, well that explains it. That's usually been how it worked since Taken King.

Isn't that what everyone is claiming? DICE are good devs but evil EA made them do it?
I think the optimists have have been claiming but personally I think the lines blur for a lot of these bigger devs that are under the thumb of a publisher for a long time. Over the years staff changes, and maybe they want to get proactive to try and steer the MTX to be less shit, but it's an uphill battle.

By the time the 10+ year deal between Bungie and Activision actually ends, they're going to be a totally different studio from even where they are now, and they're already so different than the Halo era. I felt like they managed to maintain a lot of their original pre-Microsoft acquisition spirit up through at least ODST, and to a lesser degree Reach. But by the time Destiny actually launched the wheels of change had started turning (obvious by the fucking over of Joe Staten and Marty O'Donnell), and by the time Taken King was done the people guiding the studio had changed a lot.

When you have shit like the job posting I noted earlier, I think it's clearly they're becoming a different kind of studio.

AC Origins is different than all the other ones. I have put more than 20 hrs into it and I hated all the previous AC games.

Destiny 1 locked you out of the weekly rotation if the content was DLC-specific. You could still play the playlist when it was the vanilla content for the game, just at a higher difficulty.

You definitely could not do certain stuff like the Nightfall no matter what it was for the week, I went without one of the expansions for a while. Maybe this was changed after Taken King? I know you were put into no-DLC playlists for Crucible too, though I don't know if that's the case with the limited players D2 already has.

The Destiny community is ultra mega toxic and they like to blow up at little things.  I don't think locking an achievement behind DLC is all that bad (my opinion), at least not as bad as not adding new achievements for the expansion.  Granted, the story in the CoO expansion can be powered through in a handful of hours, but there is plenty of content, albeit a little grindy, to keep playing the game.  I'm enjoying it immensely because I unlocked some stuff in the game last night that I didn't know was there.

Yeah Origins looks very interesting to me. When I finish (guess I need to actually start) Shadow of War I might trade it toward Origins.

I enjoyed BF, Rogue, and Syndicate. Unity was ok. I waited like a year to play it. The co-op stuff was fun.

I picked up the vanilla copy (PS4) last week at BB for $24.99. Had some fun with the campaign. A friend I hadn't played anything with in like 7 months hopped in my game. He actually waited till I played enough so he could join. We played a bit the next day. He has the season pass so who knows if we will play much this weekend either. For me it was a decent social experience. Not sure if I will hang on to it much longer and pick up the season pass or not though. He only gets on on the weekends. Saw another friend on the other morning. We used to do the weeklies and many Nightfalls together. He is level 25 and was in the DLC so I couldn't join him.

I really don't want to spend $60 ($25+$35) on a game I might not be playing a couple of weeks from now.

Something just seems off with it. Not sure what. Farmed some Public events this week trying get some purple gear and bring my light level up to the old cap at least (I am 241 now). This morning I was up early and finally attempted a strike. Got the very end and we kept dying. One guy was 25 the other 19 and me 20. I am sure if I didn't have to get ready for work we would have finished it.

Just isn't drawing me in like the previous Destiny did for like 1.5 years. I will mess around with it some more 50/50 I will stick with it. Playing it by myself with randoms is ok but nearly as much fun as playing with friends.

Aren't those the same things, though? Either way, there are achievements you can't get unless you pony up for the DLC/expansion. Maybe I'm just confused. Either way, I'm cool with DLC adding achievements...in fact, I prefer it that way.

Well, glad I let an ejected bunny push me to get Victor Vran. Really enjoying what I have played so far. Some things about it I may even like better than Diablo.

I'm glad you like it. I bought it as well. Hopefully when I get power back I'll be able to play it.

Yeah, they basically locked one away. It'd be one thing if it was just a new achievement that said "Beat the Prestige Osiris Raid", but people are upset because the original raid's Prestige is now not an option, even though it was advertised as a core feature and talked about before the base game even released.

Really, Bungie had been pretty bad about this with D1 as is. Usually when a new raid came out the old one was basically made useless aside from maybe the unique effects of it's exclusive gear, along with it's light level not increasing meaning it was piss easy.
